Continuing our reading today from Sri Chaitanya Shik Shamrita by Shresa Chidan Bhakti no Thakur. Today's section is titled Third Shower General Consideration of Main Rule or Vedi Bhakti Second Stream Rules of Practicing Bhakti Bhakti Yoga Five Types of Vair Bhakti A devotee practicing Vair Bhakti, being situated in Var ashrama and maintaining his life, will take constant care to direct his mind to the lotus feet of Krishna. This is called Bhakti Yoga.
Practicing Bhakti Yoga Hari Bhakti so in.
Practicing Bhakti Yoga, why be Bhakti? One is following the rules given by the scripture and maintaining the body according to his varnash occupation. At the same time, the devotee always wants to put his mind on the lotus feet of Lord Krishna. Sabhakti Yoga means putting your mind on a lotus feet of Lord Krishna. Note A sincere disciple should learn to disassociate the mind from the from everything material and positively cultivate association with his spiritual master and other saintly devotees. He should be merciful to those in an inferior position to him, cultivate friendship with those on an equal level and meekly serve those in a higher spiritual position. Thus he should learn to deal properly with all living beings. To serve the spiritual master, the disciple should learn cleanliness, austerity, tolerance, silence, study of Vedic knowledge, simplicity, celibacy, non violence and equanimity in the face of material dualities such as heat and cold, happiness and distress. One should practice meditation by constantly seeing oneself to be an eternal, cognizant spirit, soul, and seeing the Lord to be the absolute controller of everything. To increase one's meditation, one should live in a secluded place and give up false attachment to one's home, home and household paraphernalia, giving up the decorations of the temporary material body. One should dress himself with scrapes of cloth found in dejected places or with the bark of trees. In this way one should learn to be satisfied in any material situation. One should have firm faith that he will achieve all success in life by following those scriptures that describe the glories of the Supreme Personality of Godhead Bhagavan. At the same time, one should avoid blaspheming other scriptures. One should rigidly control his mind, speech and bodily activities always speak the truth and bring the mind and senses under full control. One should hear, glorify and meditate upon the wonderful transcendental activities of the Lord. One should specifically become absorbed in the appearance of activities, qualities and holy names of the supreme personality of Godhead. Thus inspired, one should perform all of one's daily activities as an offering to the Lord. One should perform sacrifice, charity and penance exclusively for the Lord's satisfaction. Similarly one should chant only those mantras which glorify the supreme personality of Godhead. And all one's religious activities should be performed as an offering to the Lord. Whatever one finds pleasing or enjoyable he should immediately offer to the Supreme Lord and even his wife, children, home and very live air he should offer at the lotus feet of the supreme personality of God him. Shrimad Bhagavatam 11th 23 to 28.
This is written 5000 years old.
So this is written 5000 years ago in the Shima. So I remember that one time should a profile was going to a bank to deposit some money in downtown Calcutta.
At that time.
And at that time he did not have any disciples with him.
So when he got their jobs turned to them stop him. So.
He told us that when he came back that at the bank the doorkeeper had told him no beggars here.
I'm not a beggar, I run here.
I'm not a beggar, I'm having account here. I have an account here. They call the manager and then he was allowed in and he said that he never wants to go alone without some devotees. I think in Kalyuga if you're in the street people snatch stuff from you in the streets people will bring up.
Rays, dead bodies or something.
Oh they'll pick up rays of like dead bodies or something.
He was. Mike.
Can you hear me now? Okay, we get stopped on the street or something. Some preaching, some preaching. We have to dress nicely.
All the things we have to do.
We have to offer our activities Whatever is really enjoyable we should offer to Krishna. Srilabakna Thakur wrote a song.
Or pillow for the non locations.
So everything whatever we have we offer to Krishna.
So what are you doing?
You got is wrong?
Yes, as a lyrics of the song Mind, body and family whatever may be mine, I have surrendered at your lotus feet O youthful son of Nanda. So. So we don't want to take shelter in this material world. So whatever we do we offer to Lord Krishna.
He taught us how to also be harder.
Srila Prabhupada also taught us that we have to be practical. So this was written 5,000 years ago. Now people are very observant of the external things. This is a verse of Bhagavad Gita. If one offers me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit or Water. I will accept it. Bhagavad Gita 9:26.
This is another topic.
Practicing service to the Lord is a duty of a devotee. Practicing Vaidi Bhakti. It is of five types namely 1. Bodily practice. 2. Mental practice. 3. Spiritual practice. 4. Material practice. 5. Social practice. We will explain the five types of practice one by one. Let me first explain the practice related to the body. There are seven types of bodily practice. All the external senses belong to this category. 1. Shravana practice. 2. Keep them practice. 3. Smelling practice. 4. Darshan practice. 5. Touching practice. 6. Tasting practice. And 7. Limbs of the body practice. So there are so many practices. So we hear with our ears. Kiran practice. You guys are very nice. Kids are here.
Harm.
So I go to the Shravana practice and you go to the Kirtan practice. One person needs help others such one person needs. Everyone else follows. So you have Shravan and Kirtan all in one day.
Smelling practice.
Smelling practice. We can offer a flower to Krishna and then we smell it. So if you go to the temple and see the deities that is the fourth Darshana practice. Touching practice. I remember one time I saw a home minister. He came to see sh.
And he touches and he wanted to.
Touch his lotus feet. And then Ramananda was there and he was like what? Touching the Lord's feet. No.
He'S in charge of home minister. In charge of police.
The home minister is in charge of police. You can't beat him up. It's a custom. So touching practice can be done in different ways. Touch the Guru's feet. Do deity worship.
This is all this one.
So this is the fifth one. Touching practice. Tasting practice.
Everyone rise up.
Two hands.
Double balls.
So one time I got this neem Sundesh. The neem leaves rolled into a ball. Nobody liked those. Anybody thought this is something which has gone bad.
Bitter is one of the taste mentioned in the shastra.
Actually bitter is one of the taste mentioned in the shastra. Prabhupada wanted that that we dry this bitter melon and send him. Because the west they don't have bitter melon. So where you all are sitting now? We used to dry bitter melon right there. But you don't look bitter.
Limbs of the body practice now.
7Th limbs of the body practice. We can pay obeisances. Bow down. Here's the verse. Firm note. Firm faith in the blissful narrations of my pastime. Constant chanting of my glories. Unwavering attachment to ceremonial worship of me. Praising me through beautiful hymns. Great respect for my devotional service, offering obeisances with the entire body, Performing.
Performing.
First class worship of my devotees, consciousness of me in all living entities, offering up ordinary bodily activities in my devotional service, use the words to describe my qualities, Offering the mind to me, rejection of all material desires, giving up wealth for my devotional service, renouncing material sense, gratification and happiness, and performing all desirable activities such as charity, sacrifice, chanting vows and austerities with the purpose of achieving me. These constitute actual religious principles by which those human beings who have actually surrendered themselves to me automatically develop love for me. What other purpose or goal could remain for my devotee? Srimad Bhagavatam 11:19, 20, 24, 8:45 Lord Sri Krishna is advising in the eleventh candle how a transcendent devotee is contacted with Krishna. So he's sharing what things he likes.
We have the Lord is a jungle all day. Sharon Bhajans praise in the Lord.
So we have devotees in the temple who are praising, who are singing pujans all day, praising the Lord and showing respect for his devotional service, offering obeisances with the entire body.
Okay.
Done. What the ladies, they do punch anga prana.
So we can see that.
You can see that everybody is offering obesity to the deities. So on Janmashmi, on K. Purima, we do elaborate worship of the lordships on other days also. So some people watch that and some people also do the Abi shake.
And so am I really affected by current desires.
So our mind may be affected by different desires.
I was an elderly, I ended sleep, I have a dream coast.
So when I was a new devotee, I went to see a dream, I went to sleep. Oh, I went. When I was a new devotee, I went another person, another friend and two girls. And I looked around, I said, I don't want to be here.
I'm 18 years old.
I was 18 years old.
This was too much of material situation.
And if this is too much of a material situation for me. So I started chanting aloud, Hare Krishna.
Go Hare Krishna.
And I was asleep actually. And I woke everybody up in the temple.
What song? What song?
What song? What song?
I rejected material desires going to the restaurant.
So I rejected material desires like going to the restaurant.
So.
Depending on which ashram you are in, in the Parana, different things may be accepted or rejected. Child. So if you're having a Krishna conscious child that is allowed in the Grihasta Ashram.
We do all these things automatically.
So Lord Krishna says in this verse of Srima Bhavatam that if you do these things you automatically develop love for him. And that should be our goal. That should be our purpose. 8:58. So today we had meeting for the scientific museum of the planetarium. And we decided which designer, which consultant go we go with us we had a competition. And so the competition one was selected.
So now we have first class international designer on our watch.
So previously we had first class designer, international designer from the West. It was very expensive and they were very expensive.
How it was? He couldn't understand our content.
The problem was they couldn't understand our content.
What's the use? He wanted like $3 million.
So what's the use of paying $3 million? But he couldn't understand our contents.
So we had a competition.
So we had a competition between three Indian designers. Between three Indian designers. And one was able to understand our content.
So one misunderstood. Our point was Vedic science.
So one misunderstood because our point is that Vedic science is scientific.
Science, mythology.
This one misunderstood. They thought it is science and there is Vedic mythology. So they fail. Right from the very beginning and there were two companies.
So we had this content team.
Now the content team they like one of the two companies and they said the other company was dependent on one guy and that guy was bit impersonal. That means we left and the other and the first company won the vote. Blessings to all the good.
