20251225 Śrī Caitanya-śikṣāmṛta Class in Śrī Māyāpur, India #JayapatakaSwamiArchives

This YouTube lecture (Dec 25, 2025) records His Holiness Jayapataka Swami Maharaj teaching on Śānta-rasa (the neutral/serene mellow) using sources such as Bhakti-rasamṛta-sindhu and Bhakti Vinoda Ṭhākura. The speakers clarify that śānta-rasa is personal (saviśeṣa) rather than impersonal nirviśeṣa Brahman, describe varieties of śānta-jīvas (e.g., the four Kumāras), quote scriptural verses and Śrīla Prabhupāda translations, and give practical devotional guidance (fasts, Ekādaśī, chanting). A concluding Q&A addresses whether devotees can move between rasas and which rasa to aim for.

Guru Maharaj's message is your advice advantage. The following is a Sri Chaitanya Sheikh Shamrita class given by His Holiness Jaya Pataka Swami Maharaj on December 25, 2025 in Sri Ramayapur India.
Hare Krishna. Dear devotees, today we will. Today we will continue with the Chaitanya shikshamrita Bhaishala Sachidan and the Bhakti Vinod Thakur Shaptam Bristi Ras Bichar. Yeah, yeah. This is another subtopic below the Rasavichar. Now we are discussing about Santaras analysis of mellows Trithiyadhara Shantarash Bichar third stream analysis of Shantarash neutrality. The object of worship is not Nirvi Sesha undistinguishable, but rather Savisesha personal. Such firm intelligence in relation to truth of Bhagavan is called Shama. When shama is firmly seated in the heart of a devotee and such a devotee develops rati. That rati is referred to as Shanti Rati neutrality. Like to say something.
Someone was yesterday asking what is Santa Ras?
Someone was yesterday asking what is Santaras.
Now this Bhakti Natagar is explaining in detail about the Santa Rash.
Now in this Bhakti Natakur he's explaining in detail about Shantarash.
Now one thing they understand, he said it's personal. That is not Mayavadi. It's not impersonal.
One thing we understand, it is personal. It's not Mayavati. It's not impersonal.
And someone Sansaras appreciates qualities of Ka.
Someone in Shantaras appreciates the qualities of Krishna on Arayana expansions or Krishna's expansions.
Sa Nirvishas the impersonalist. That's a different thing.
Nirvi Sesh impersonalist. That's a different thing.
Chandrasa is a personal thing.
Shantarasha is a personal thing.
You appreciate the qualities of Krishna and his expansions.
You appreciate the qualities of Krishna and his expansion.
But that doesn't translate into service. It's just appreciation.
It doesn't translate into service. It's just appreciation.
Or love.
Or love.
So. You know, like very impressed by these holidays.
Yeah, they are very impressed by the his qualities.
Enamored.
Yeah, enamored.
Nice.
Okay. Shanta Jiva. A Shanta Jiva is the shelter of Shantarati Savisesha Bhagavan Personal God is the object of that Rati. The Shanta Jiva is devoid of materialistic intelligence in the science of God. Bhagavata Tattva Yoga for the attainment of transcendental bliss. Chitsuka is the defining characteristic or sign linga of his worship. By renouncing attachment to material objects, he becomes established in his own transcendental bliss. Thus Krishna, being perceived in relation to him as either the Paramatma or Savisesha Brahman becomes the object of his Rati. There is no Rati in impersonal Brahman contemplation. Nirvi Sesha Brahmachinta. Even the Brahman realized by one who has developed Rati Utpannarati Purusha is also almost with personal characteristics Savisesha Pri. However, there remains some uncertainty regarding the eternal distinctive nature of Brahman. Thus, at times the four armed form Chaturbhuja Swarupa manifests in his consciousness. At other times the majestic form of Ka imbued with opulence. Aishwarya, Gata, Krishna, Swaroopa. And at yet other moments the spiritual form of the Paramatma Adhatmika Paramatma Swarupa arises in his mind. The sages such as Sanaka, Sanatana, Sananda, Sanat Kumara are the ideals for such devotees.
So the four Kumaras they were in the Brahman realization.
So the four Kumaras they were in the Brahman realization.
But they got converted to being devotees. And so they are the examples of the hole.
So but they got converted into devotees. And they are the examples that we hold now.
Devotees. I mean, heges the Rechar Santi Shanta Jivas.
Here it gives varieties of Shantajivas People in the Shantaras.
Some say Ka Ram.
Some see the Paramatma, some see the four handed form. Some see Krishna's farm.
Krishna farm in Aishwarya.
Krishna farm in Aishwarya.
In opulence.
In opulence no light.
He had 16,108 queens.
Something like he has 16,108 queens. Indwaraka.
Also like you know, the south.
You know, like some very opulent form of Krishna.
Salt, right? This doesn't fiddle in the Sandarasa have some worshipful deity.
So like this different people in Shantarasa they have worship. They are worshipable deity. Bhakti Rasamruta, Sindhu Western Division. First wave. Sounds English. You want me to read the verse?
Okay.
Atma Ramas to Sanaka Sanatana Sanaka Sananda Mukha Matah Pradhanyat Sanaka, Sanaka Dinam, Rupam Bhaktista Katyate. The sages headed by Sanaka and Sananda are considered Atma Ramas because Sanaka and the other Kumaras are the main Atma Rama Shanta Bhaktas. They are forms and their bhakti will now be described verse as well. Okay, Their forms, the four kumaras look like children five or six years old. They are effulgent, golden in complexion and naked. They wander about together. Srila Prabhupada's translation of the above mentioned verses. The four saintly persons known as Chatusana are the sons of Lord Brahma. After their birth, when they were ordered by their father to become householders and increase human society, they refused the order. They said that they had already decided not to become entangled with family life. They would rather live as saintly Brahmacharis for their own perfection. So these great saints have been living for millions of years now. But still they appear to be just like boys of four or five years. Their complexions are very fair, there is an effulgence in their bodies and they always travel naked. These four saintly persons almost always remain together. Continuation. They are bhakti. Krupa Goswami is describing the Bhakti of the four Kumaras. O Mukunda, we were absorbed in the indescribable happiness we felt in our minds which are untouched by the modes of nature, and we turned away from the external senses until we attained the astonishing and immensely blissful realization of you whose radiance is deep blue like a young Tamil tree. Srila Prabhupada's translation of the above mentioned verse in one of the prayers of the Kumara brothers, this declaration is made. O Lord Mukunda, Krishna, the giver of liberation. Only so long as one does not happen to see your eternal form of bliss and knowledge appearing just like a newly grown Tamil tree with bluish hue. Only for so long can the impersonal feature of the absolute truth known as Brahman will very pleasing will be very pleasing to saintly person.
See there I have the rightly self. They were not in contact with the material nature, you see.
They are very happy, very blissful. They are not in contact with the material nature.
They were having the realization of the Brahma Jyoti.
They were having the realization of the Brahma Jyoti.
But when I realized Krishna and the Tulsi, all the tours, all his feet.
When they realized Krishna and the Tulsi offered to his lotus feet.
When they saw the Narayan.
When they saw the Narayan form of.
Krishna Vishnu, then they realized that this is a much higher bliss.
Then they realized that this is much a higher bliss.
And they became devotees after that.
And they became devotees after that.
So as long as you don't realize Krishna, you may think that Brahman is nice.
As long as you don't realize Krishna, you may think that the impersonal Brahman is nice.
Once you realize Krishna, you don't care about the impersonal Brahman.
Once you realize Krishna, you don't really care about the impersonal Brahman. Next, when will I live in a mountain valley under a large tree, wearing only a loincloth and taking pleasure in eating simple roots and fruits? Quickly pass my days and nights in meditating on the effulgent form of knowledge and bliss called Mukunda Rla Prabhupada's translation of the above mentioned verse from Bhakti Rasamruta Sindhu A saintly person thinks like when shall I be able to live alone in the caves of the mountains? When shall I be dressed simply with undergarments? When shall I be satisfied by eating simply a little fruit and vegetables? When will it be possible for me to think always of the lotus feed of Mukunda who is the source of the Brahman effulgence? When in such a spiritual condition of life shall I fully understand my days and nights to be insignificant moments in eternal time?
One of the tasks in the Vishnatha Panchak is fruits and roots.
One of the fasts in the Bhishma Panchak is fruits and roots.
The saintly person praying analyze your health. He's just eating roots and roots.
Here the saintly person are praying, when will I be happy when I fast with fruits and roots?
So those who have done Bhishma Branjogi, they have experienced fruits and roots.
Those who have done Bheeshma Panchak, they have experienced fruits and roots.
At least for five days.
At least for five days. Well, it's blissful in your association, Guru Maharaj.
Huh?
It's blissful in your association when you observe.
So someone is praying that they want to be able to exist like that their whole life.
So someone is praying that they want to be like that throughout their life.
That's. So you're gonna experience it for five days.
So that you're gonna experience in five days.
Not everyone.
Not everyone.
So Prabhupada was very merciful.
So Prabhupada was very merciful.
He even like Ekadasi suddenly they'll observe it. I was thinking standing all night.
So even on Ekadashi, some people, they're fasting, they'll fast. What did you say?
And stay awake all night.
And stay awake the whole night.
What? Prabhupada said do the grains, cereals or pulses.
Prabhupada said do the non grain cereals or pulse.
Which is the minimum.
Which is the minimum.
So Prabhupada always merciful with us.
So Prabhupada was very merciful with us.
I mean, some people, I think Tamalakshu saw me for some time. He was observing the Ekadasis.
So I think some people like Tamal, Krishna, Goswami, he was observing the Ekadashi fully.
But certainly this is a standard that one wants to live a single life and chant Hare Krishna.
So anyway, this is a standard that one should live a simple life and chant Hare Ka and always think of.
The Muhanda of Krishna rather.
Always think of Mukunda or Krishna rather.
Who is the source of the impersonal Brahman?
Who is the source of the impersonal Brahman?
The source of the Azer world.
Who is the source of the material.
World, Source of the spiritual world.
Source of the spiritual world.
Source of everything.
Source of everything.
So now one thinks like we are have a body, we are the soul.
So if one thinks we are the soul and we have a body, Krishna.
Is not like that.
But Krishna is not like that. His body and soul, his body, his soul, non different.
So he's completely transcendental.
So he's completely transcendental.
Okay.
Okay.
So question and answer for five minutes.
So we'll have question and answer for five minutes.
We're late, a little late today because we were talking to our Singapore doctor.
So we got a little late today because we were talking to a Singapore doctor.
He said I had to go on a special treatment for two weeks.
So he said that I don't have to go for a treatment for two weeks.
I have to go on.
Oh, you have to go. Okay.
On a special treatment.
On a special treatment for two weeks.
Well, I can do it here.
But I can do it here. That's great. That's wonderful. I don't have to go to Singapore then. Okay.
But during these two weeks I'll be restricted.
But during these two weeks I'll be restricted.
I'll tell you about that later.
I will tell you about that later.
Any questions on today's class?
There's one question. Shila. Guru Maharaj. Hare Krishna. Guru Maharaj. Thank you very much for a wonderful class Question can devotees move from one Rasa to another Rasa after achieving one Rasa? Also which Rasa should we aim for? Premalila Padma Devidasi.
The one Rasa going to Sandarasa Razara.
And who's Santa Rasa So Dasiya Rasa it includes this Santa Rasa and each.
Rasa includes all the previous Rasas and.
Each Rasa includes all the previous Rasas.
Like the Sakya Rasa friendship includes Dasya and Santa.
Like the Sakya Rasa friendship includes Dasya and Santa.
Of course one kind of Sakya doesn't have the same it loves Krishna, it appreciates Krishna but does understand or think it very important that he is the supreme personality.
One kind of Sakira says that he loves Krishna. He appreciates Krishna but he doesn't understand that Krishna is the Lord is the supreme personality of Godhood.
And some of the Pandoras I think this is my child.
Similarly in parental Rasa they think that Krishna is my child and conjugal love.
I think Krishna is not lover or.
My husband in conjugal love Krishna they think that Krishna is my lover, my husband.
So they don't in that relationship, I mean they don't really think of Krishna as the supreme personality.
In that relationship they really don't think Krishna as the supreme personality of Godhead.
The hell want to relate with Krishna.
They just want to relate with Krishna.
So not that we aim one Rasa.
It'S not that we aim one Rasa.
It'S revealed to us heart what our Rasa is with Krishna so it will.
Be revealed to us what our Rasa is with Krishna.
What your actual Rasa may move from one to another but you don't really when you reach your Rasa then you.
Say that you move from one to another but when you reach your Rasa, your particular Rasa then you just stay there. Haribot Gurmaj is blessing all of you. Krishna Matirastu raise your hands. Who wants blessings? Krishnir Matirasta.
