A recorded devotional class by His Holiness Jayapataka Swami (January 6, 2026, Śrī Māyāpur) in which translators alternate between English and Bengali. The session reads from Sri Chaitanya-śīkṣāmṛta (seventh stream) and Bhakti Rasamrita Sindhu and focuses on Sakya Rasa and categories of Krishna’s friends (Gopa/Hasvas, Suhrits, Sakas), listing named examples and discussing moods of devotion. The recording closes with audience Q&A including a theological question about Madhavendra Puri’s identity in Goloka and whether non-moving entities can experience moods other than śanta.

Guru Maharaj's message is your advice advantage. The following is a Shri Caitanya Sheikh Shamrita class given by His Holiness Jaya Pataka Swami Maharaj on January 6, 2026 in Sridhar Mayapur.
Hare Krishna. Dear devotees, today we will continue with the reading from Sri Chaitanya Shikshamrita by Ashla Sachidan and the Bhakti Vinod Thakur. Today we are reading from the seventh stream.
I'm going to speak English.
Okay? Yes. When you speak in English, Shila Guru Maharaj will translate it into Bengali.
How does it work?
So I'll read, you give your comment and your comment I'll repeat and he'll translate that into Bengali.
So we're talking about Sakya Rasa.
So we are talking about Sakya Rasa.
And Krishna as friends and Raja as.
Krishna and his friends in Braja.
He talked about his friends in Mathura and Dwaraka yesterday.
We spoke about we talked about his friends in Mathura and Dwarka yesterday. The friends in Braj the friends in Braj suffer from not seeing Krishna even for a moment. They play with Krishna at all times and is their life and soul. For this reason they are considered the chief among all the friends.
So even when Krishna goes for a.
Minute, so even Krishna goes for a.
Minute, they feel a separation.
They feel separation.
Therefore love for Krishna is very intense.
Therefore their love for Krishna is very intense.
Allah can stand at best the highest chief of all the friends.
That's why the they are considered to be the best, highest or chief among all the friends.
Classes of friends.
So there are different types of friends. Some are Gopa Haswas, some are Suhrits.
We'll talk about all the different friends.
So we'll talk about so we'll talk about all the different types of friend here. Srila Bhakti Vinathakur will explain that. Okay. Quotation from Bhakti Rasamruta Sindhu the Sruhut have friendship mixed with a tinge of Vatsalya. They are slightly older than Krishna and carrying weapons. They are always ready to protect Krishna from demons. Rla Prabhupada's translation of the above mentioned verse from Bhaktira Samrita Sindhu. Krishna's well wishes, well wisher friends are little bit older than Krishna and they have some parental affection for him. Because of their being older than Krishna they always try to protect him from any harm. As such, they sometimes bear weapons so that they can chastise any mischievous persons who want to harm who want to do harm to Krishna. So.
They'Re also with Krishna's friends. Because the gods are a little older they think that they're responsible to Kira Krishna.
They are also Krishna's friends but because they are little older than Krishna they think that they are responsible for Krishna's protection.
Like this they had different kinds of friends and they had different kinds of relationships with Krishna.
So like this we have different kinds of friends and they have different kinds of relationship with Krishna.
Krishna is the center.
So in the spiritual world of Braja, Krishna is the center.
All the realms are hard in your lives. Vayasavas Some are older, slightly older, aged.
Some are equal age, some are equal age by Hasvas. Some are older than Krishna. They are all. They all love Krishna.
So that serves the world as you are love Krishna.
So in the spiritual world everyone loves Kaati, Jabote, Shavai Krishna.
We are in the material world because somehow we desire to enjoy independently of Krishna.
So we are in the material world because somehow we desire to enjoy independently of Ka.
We're not the body, we're the spirit soul and we have the body.
See, we are not the body, we are the spirit soul and we have the body.
Normally people are in the mode of passion, want to enjoy the fruits of their labor, they identify with body.
So normally people are in the mode of passion. They want to enjoy the fruits of their labor and they want to identify themselves with the body. But Vaishnavas, we want to serve Krishna. Krishna, we don't want.
To help.
So we don't want to have Krishna hold Krishna in any envy.
So if we adopt this mode of the Rajavasis or the spiritual entities, we go back to Godhead.
If we adopt the mood of the Brajavasis or the spiritual entities, then we go back to Godhead.
So we try to do everything in the service of Krishna.
So we try to do everything in the service of Krishna.
It is not me too. In our daily life we were farmers, workers, businessmen, whatever.
So even whatever we do in our daily life as a farmer, businessman, worker, whatever. Another quotation from Bhaktira Samrata, Sindhu Subhadra, Mandali, Badra Badra, Vardhana, Go Bhatta, Yaksha, Indrabhatta, Badranga, Veera Badra, Mahaguna Vijaya and Balabhadra Balaram. Some of Suharits Srila Prabhupada's translation of the above mentioned verse from Bhakti Rasamruta Sindhu Counted among the well wished friends of friends are Subhadra, Mandali, Badra, Badravardhana, Gobatta, Yaksha, Indrabhata, Bhatranga, Veerabhadra, Mahaguna, Vijaya and Balabhatra. They are older than Krishna and they are always thinking of his welfare.
So this is one of the Rasas those are friends and her children but older. They are always thinking of his welfare.
So this is one of the Rasas. They are friends of Krishna but they are older. They are always thinking about his welfare. What's that?
I love Krishna but from this perspective.
Oh. The point is that they love Krishna but from this perspective.
They want the Rekrishna to be protected.
They are well wishers. They are older than Krishna and they want Krishna to be protected. The Sakas, friends, friends who are slightly younger than Krishna and have a touch of Dasya in their friendly relationship with him are called Sakas. They are very attached to the happiness derived from serving Krishna. Among them are Vishala, Rishabhav, Ojasvi Devaprashta, Varutapa, Maranda, Kusamapida, Manibhanda and Karan Dhamma, Shla Prabhupada's translation of the above mentioned verse. Friends who are younger than Krishna, who are always attached to him, who give him all kinds of service are called ordinary friends or simply friends. Such ordinary friends are called Sakas and the names of some Sakas are Vishala, Rishabha, Ojasvi, Devaprastha, Varutappa, Maranda, Kusuma, Peda, Manibhanda and Karan Dhamma. All of these Saka friends of Krishna seek only to serve him.
Who are slightly younger than Krishna.
So this is another category of friends who are slightly younger than Krishna who are called as Sakas who are called as suckers. We have Vaya, Aswas, Rhetts and Sakas.
So these are sagas. They consider them they are friends of Hijab. What? It says they have a touch of Dasha.
So these friends are there, these suckers. They are friends of Krishna but they have a touch of Succor Dasya. Sorry.
Any questions?
Okay, I have a question. Okay, that's a question.
Quite a long question but yeah. According to the Gora Ganodesha Deepika it is mentioned that Madhavendra Puri's identity in Goloka Vrindavan is that of a Kalpa Vriksha tree. Simultaneously we know he possessed the Mahabhava. Only Shrimati, Radharani and Lord Chaitanya also have thus Shla Madhavendrapuri exhibit Madhurya Rasa towards Krishna even in his original Kalpavriksha form. Can we thus assume that even non moving objects such as trees and creepers in Goloka Vrindavan can experience moods other than Shantarasa towards Krishna? I'm asking this because I found an excerpt from Srila Prabhupada's letter. Shantarasa means appreciation. Shantarasha means appreciation.
Is this on the class? No reading tonight?
This is from the class.
No, no.
I'm reading tonight. Any question on this class?
Any question on this class?
Okay. Nobody is saying anything.
No question.
No question.
All right.
All right.
