20260108 - Caitanya Śikṣāmṛta, Fifth Stream — Preya-bhakti-rasa (Sakhya-rasa) part 4

In this recorded devotional session, Jayapataka Swami leads a group of devotees through passages from Caitanya Śikṣāmṛta and Bhakti‑Rasāmṛta‑Sindhu that explore the sakhya‑rasa (friendship) relationship with Lord Krishna. The discussion classifies Krishna’s friends into several categories—Nitya‑Priya, Nitya‑Siddha, Sura‑Chara, Sadhana‑Siddha, and others—describing their distinct temperaments (counselor, jester, straightforward, crooked, argumentative, gentle) and how each type pleases Krishna. The speakers also extol Krishna’s divine form and attributes, noting the supportive role of his companions (Alambana) in the rasa. Historical anecdotes about Krishna’s friends in Braj, Mathura, and Dwaraka are recounted, emphasizing the special bond of the Brajavasi friends. The session transitions to community matters: a health update on the guru (a heavy medication dose) and a request for extra chanting for his well‑being; a detailed report of a recent Srila Prabhupada book‑distribution effort, listing contributors and quantities; and a call for further contributions with contact details. The class concludes with blessings, gratitude, and an invitation to the next lesson.

It.
Sa. Ra.
Hare Krishna.
Dear devotees, today we will continue with our readings from Sri Chaitanya Shikshamita by Shiva Sachitan in the Bhakti Vi Not. Yeah, you read from. Okay, okay. We are discussing about Sakurasana
quotation from Bakira.
Samuada in particular is always eager to joke.
There are.
Okay.
There's another quote from Bhaktira Samantha Sindhu.
There are three types of friends. Nitya Priya, Nitya Siddha, Sura Chara, demigods in past life and Sadhana Siddha. Among those fortunate boys, the steady ones worship Krishna by acting like advisors. Others have a fickle nature and make Krishna laugh in the manner of jesters. Some worship him with their straightforward feelings. Yet others who are not straightforward astonish him by their crooked behavior. Some daring friends argue with Krishna and the peaceful boys make him happy with truthful and pleasing words. Prabhupada's translation of the above mentioned verse from Bhakti Rasamruta Singh. There are three divisions among divisions among Krishna's friends. Some are internally in friendship with Krishna, some are elevated demigods and some are perfected devotees. In all of these groups there are some who are by nature fixed in Krishna's service and are always engaged in giving counsel. Some of them are very fond of joking and naturally cause Krishna to snarl with their words. Some of them by nature very simple and by their simplicity they please Krishna
and some of them.
Lord. Sorry, Lord Krishna. I'm sorry. Some of them create wonderful situations by their activities apparently against Krishna. Some of them are very talkative, always arguing with Krishna and creating a debating atmosphere. Some of them are very gentle and give pleasure to Krishna by their sweet words. So this. So this shows different devotees in different kinds of Sakyas
Stereotype.
It's not has to be a stereotype.
What is.
So friends of Krishna are different of different varieties. Some are laughing, some are joking,
some
are arguing with Krishna. Some are giving Krishna counsel. Some are very simple, being sweet and speaking softly. So there are different kinds. I'm not mentioning all
this.
But everybody loves Krishna in all the agilities.
So shows that everybody loves Krishna and doing the activity in the honor of Krishna in honor of Krishna they want to please Krishna. So some are doing that in different
ways version of their life.
So Krishna may like to argue with someone else. You might like to joke with someone else.
Goodwill. All are doing good lies
like that. There are different relationship in different ways. And all that are giving pleasure to Krishna.
By their various natures.
All these sweet friends increase the wonder of pure friendship with Krishna. Prabhupada's translation of the above mentioned verse from Bhakti Rasamitha Sindhu. All of these friends are very intimate with Krishna and they show expertise in their different activities. Their aim always being to please Krishna. Sri Krishna. Sri Krishna and his companions are the Alambana support of this Rasa. The two armed Bhagavan is the support in the form of object. Vishya Rupa Alambana he possesses an exquisite form, adorned with all auspicious attributes. Strong, eloquent in various wondrous languages. Articulate, highly learned, exceedingly brilliant, skillful, full of compassion. The crest dual among heroes, expert and humorous. Intelligent, forgiving.
Sorry.
The shelter of those devoted to him. Prosperous, blissful and supremely glorious. His companions match him in beauty, dress and qualities. Yet they remain distinct in their unique characteristics and exhibit Vishranga, the confidence.
Yeah.
So Krishna's qualities are mentioned here. And this. His friends are appreciating him like this.
And. Also very nicely. House.
He's also very nicely dressed. He looks very handsome.
How are you?
Krishna's fans? They are very nicely dressed. They look very handsome and they also have deep confidence.
Someone asked me that.
Krishna.
Sorry, no Tamil nodes.
Krishna. I mean Krishna knows even the languages of the birds and beasts. Even the language of the trees. What you speak of Tamil.
Tun,
Of course. Lord Chaitan Yankee was in Bengal.
I spoke Bengali, but also Sanskrit.
He spoke not only Bengali, also Sanskrit.
Someone told me that Sanskrit.
So someone told me in the Sanskrit school they studied the six Shastaka.
Composite.
Each word is a different meter, a different poetry in Sanskrit and it's perfect. So they studied that. They studied that from an academic. Okay, thank you. Two types of Lord Krishna's friends. There are two kinds of Krishna's friend.
Puravasi Saka from the cities outside Braj and Vajavasi Saka friends of Braj. Among his city friends are Arjuna, Bhim, Sena, Draupadi, Sridham and the Brahmana and others, with Arjuna being the foremost. However, those who feel distressed when separated from Krishna even for a moment, who always engage in his pastimes and who consider him to be their very life, such companions are his Brajavasi suckers. Thus, among among all of Krishna's friends, the Brajavasi Sakas are understood to be the most prominent.
One too.
So when Krishna went to Mathura, taken
by Akura, taken by Akura, all these, they were surrounding him. They were dealing with him? Not at all.
So the Gopis were surrounding him they were pleading with him not to go. But anyway he went.
Some of the friends of Krishna accompanied him.
But some of the friends of Krishna accompanied him. According to this Leela, of course he was in Mathura for some time. And then he went to Dwaraka he
had made by Vishwakarma.
So he had Dwaraka made by Vishwakarmatra. So he transferred all the people from Mathura to Dwarka.
Some of the sagas they could go.
So anyway, some of the Sakas they could go with Krishna to Mathura.
Then they had to return to Vrindavan.
But they had to return to Vrindavan.
Anyway, these.
Anyways, these suckers, they have very special relationship with Krishna. So if they are separated from Krishna for a moment, they feel separation. This is the last one. Surhrit. Well wishing Saka, friend Priyasaka, dear friend Priya Narmasakka, most intimate and confidential friend. These four types of friends eternally serve Krishna in Braj. So
everybody remember meaning.
Does. Does everyone remember the meaning of Suhit Saka Saka Priyasaka and Priya Narmasaka? What?
What?
What does it mean? What does it mean?
Suh means why is your hando inside?
I want to know who. Who knows what Suht mean? Well wishing friend,
all the younger same age.
Older, younger, same, older.
Friendship mixed with the French.
Parental lovely.
What are the sagas?
What do the Sakas do?
Don't raise your hand. All those.
Okay. Who knows what the suckers do?
We don't know. I love that. Younger than Krishna.
They are younger than Krishna.
They're friends.
They are friends.
But mixed with Dacha.
But they're mixed with Dasya.
Surhaja Is friendship mixed with Prando Surah
is friendship mixed with the parent.
The and the sagas. Friends mixed with Dasya. The Sakas are friends mixed with Dasyas and Priya Narmasalas.
And then so we have Priyasaka and Priyanarmasaka. Priyasaka. They are friends with Krishna. Most intimate and confidential friend.
