Satya Gopīnātha dāsa and other speakers honor their guru with stories of his compassion and service. They recount his role building Srila Prabhupada's Mayapur project and share anecdotes like his accepting prasadam to encourage devotees, illustrating his selfless dedication to Krishna consciousness.
Srila Prabhupada. He told in one incident that his Guru Maharaj, Bhakti, Siddhanta, Saraswati, Goswami, he has sent some people and he made them to take birth in different parts of the world. And when he comes to preach Ka consciousness in the west, they will come forward and help Srila Prabhupada. Among them, our beloved Guru Maharaj is associates of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. And he came forward and took up this Ka consciousness and he spread all over the world. And he has become instrument for thousands and lakhs of people around the world. When Srila Prabhupada hand out his Mayapur project to our Guru Maharaj, he said, I am giving you the kingdom of God and please develop it. So Prabhupada, with so much confidence he gave this project to Guru Maharaj. And I have been seeing from last 30 years how this project gradually it is growing and very successfully Guru Maharaj developed this project.
And you know, once when Guru Maharaj.
Came to Melkothe in 90s, I think I also went with him. When Guru Maharaj got down from the car and seeing his personality, the Sri Vaishnavas from Melkote among themselves, they were talking, hey, look at him. He's just like Ramanujacharya. He's so such a powerful personality like that. They were talking, I heard that.
And you know, Guru Maharaj is such a personality. They used to call Ramanujacharya those days.
Yatiraja Yeti means saint and king of Athis Yeti Raja.
So our Guru Maharaj also Yeti Raja is king of all saintly people. That I can confidently say because he is inspiring so many saintly people all over the world. And one more thing. Srila Prabhupada said, if you want to understand a pure devotee, you have to.
Become a pure devotee.
I know Guru Maharaj heart for his disciples especially he never lived for himself. He always lived for Srila Prabhupada and.
His followers and his disciples.
He never lived for himself.
That is Guru Maharaj.
You know, once in Bangalore, one of our Godbrother's house Guru Maharaj came and he was staying there and prasadam time. Because you know, sometimes we see everything in a negative aspect. And there were so many Matasis, they brought different varieties of prasadam. And one of his new servant, he was serving prasadam to Guru Maharaj. And he was telling Guru Maharaj, this is not good for your health, this is not good for your health. And Guru Maharaj would say, no, little bit you serve, little bit you serve. Then he was very adamant. Then finally Guru Maharaj said, please serve.
Then he told him, you just open the door and look at outside.
There are so many Matajis waiting. They all prepared this prasadam and they brought it. And you are telling it is not good for your health. If you go out, they will ask whether Guru Maharaj has taken our prasadam. If I don't take, you have to tell lie. So to satisfy them, to encourage them, even if my health gets problem, no problem. To encourage my disciples, they give me.
Little, little prasadam he just requested.
So that is the mood of Guru Maharaj always. And you know there is a story. Once there was a Guru and you know he had a disciple. And the disciple fell with love with somebody. And you know, he approached that girl for marriage. So she told, if I marry this guy one day maybe Grohastarsram means some problems will be there.
And.
And he will leave me and go away with his Guru. So I have to cut off his Guru's relationship. Then she told, if you want to marry me, you bring your Guru's heart as a gift to me.
Then I will marry.
Then he came back to the ashram and he was very morose and sad and sitting there and Guru can see through. And he asked, what is your problem? Why you are like that? Then he said, I fell in love with a girl.
I wanted to marry her.
So she asked me if I have to marry her. You have to bring Guru's heart.
Then Guru said, no problem, get the knife. He just cut open his heart and he gave the heart to him. I don't know this guy. He was shivering, you know, for that reaction from the Guru.
And he was carrying that heart and.
He was so scared.
And you know, he hit one stone and he fell down. And his Guru's heart fell apart in a distance. And that heart is asking this fellow also fell down. The heart is asking the disciple, you.
Did not get any hurt? No. You are okay? No. Like that. Then these fellows started crying. So Gurus, our Guru Maharaj's heart is like that. And you know he always loves his disciples, wants to encourage everybody and see that they are in Ka consciousness.
And Guru Maharaj moved.
Always he wants to. There was my good fortune. I stayed here two months. Every day, night, Guru Maharaj would remember the commitments to Srila Prabhupada and always think, so this I have done, this I have to do. Always he was meditating the instructions of Srila Prabhupada and we are so fortunate that we got such a spiritual master. And life after life we should serve him and we should satisfy him. This is our duty and commitment.
