Bhagavad-gītā Class (8.3-5) || Atlanta, USA #JayapatakaSwamiArchives

Jaya Pataka Swami explains core Bhagavad-gītā terms and the power of chanting Hare Krishna for purification and remembering Krishna at death. He teaches different chanting methods, contrasts sincere practice with mechanical repetition, and shares stories from villages in India and Bangladesh to temples in New Zealand where people of all backgrounds experienced spiritual results.
The indestructible transcendent living entity is called Brahman and his eternal nature is called Adhyatma. The self action pertaining to the development of the material bodies of the living entities is called Karma or fruitive activities. Thanks for translation takes fire all best of the embodied beings. The physical nature which is constantly changing is called Adi Buddha, the material manifestation, the universal form of the Lord which includes all the Devas like those of the sun and the moon. It's called Anideva. And I, the Supreme Lord represented as the super soul in the heart of every embodied being and called Adiyyagya, the Lord of Sacrifice, priorities and whoever at the end of his life quits his body, remembering Me alone, at once attains my nature. Of this there is no doubt. Therefore, one should practice Ka consciousness from the very beginning of life. If one wants to achieve success at the end of his life, the process of remembering Ka is essential. Therefore one should constantly and cessibly chant the Mahamantra. Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare. Nonetheless, tolerating all these impediments, one should continue to chant Hare Kae Krishna. So at the end of life, the end of one's life, one can have the full benefit of Ka consciousness. So thus ends the Bhaktivedanta Swami. Translation purports for text 3, 4 and 5 with a purport from translation of Purport by His Divine grace from the Bhagavad Gita. As it is chapter 8 entitled Attaining the Supreme. So very interesting. All of you are indestructible, transcendental living entities called Brahman. And you are eternal. Nature is called the Dhyatama or the Self. And the activities you perform in relation to your material bodies and their development are called Karma or fruitive activities. Just to get home a little bit, this is talking about all of us, all of you, that we're all here in this material world. But the self, the living force that's in the body, that higher spiritual self or nature is actually who we are. When there's a car accident or some, any kind of accident, even if there's a nuclear explosion in somebody's body or whatever, this conventional explosion might be seen Iraq, somebody's body could be blown to smithereens. But the Atma is not killed. Atma is not destroyed. The self, the spiritual self of a person, who is the person really, that spiritual self simply has lost its vehicle and therefore is reassigned to a new body. There was a one time Prabhupada was saying that the bell of the priest in the temple, when he performs the aarti ceremony, they ring a bell. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. See, that bell is more powerful than a nuclear weapon, than atomic bomb. Because the bomb will blow up people's bodies and destroy vegetation and put a big hole in the ground and everything. But the vam doesn't change spiritually. The situation that's happening with any of those souls, with any of those spiritual beings again, they still have to take birth. There's enough people destroyed, maybe a big cue to get a human birth. But someone hearing the battle that is being offered to ka, whether to speak of the kirtan that you just performed, that's destroying so much karma and that can actually purify one's consciousness. As it said to have a transcendental consciousness which is capable of remembering Ka. This is what we are chanting Hare Ka. For those moments, it's very hard to remember anything else. I hear some people like loud, remote screams of rain, exuberant character. Some people are very soft and melodious. And some people like everything in different times and places. Everything has its time and place. Some people like to play using modern instruments like guitars and drums. Some people prefer the traditional instruments like me. Drumdas and tactiles, bhakti, gilino, thakmar, srila, prabhupada. They all confirm that you can use different styles according to the desire of the home. What's important is that we're chanting the names of ka or we're chanting songs which represent accurately the philosophy of ka consciousness to get the spiritual effect. The spiritual effect comes through the vibration. So somebody prefers to chant in a particular way or sing. Doesn't matter. The music itself is not an obstacle that can be. They can vary. But the vibration should be transcendental to depth and practice. In Bengal, there are some people know that this chanting is something very powerful and very that in this day and age, it's the recommended sacrifice. Previously people would do meditation, yogic meditation, which now has become very popular. But even a million years ago, it was found to be very difficult. One has to have a very peaceful environment to meditate and using the yoga postures and be successful. So there's very few people when it's very peaceful. Many people can meditate like that. But if our mind is very agitated, if the environment is very noisy in the street, then difficult. Somebody opens their video bag meditation. So what they started to do is then they did fire sacrifices. And through the activities of the fire sacrifice, the people were getting purified that way. And then that Was the. And then again they further developed into performing the deity worship. Where you have the form of the deity and you worship articles. You perform action, which is a very special procedure of ritualistic worship of the deities. So through the action that one is able to also meditate on the Lord. So the priests or the Brahmanas would directly do the worship and the other would observe. But then in this age of Khalid, he said, even when I like having it, sometimes people, they say, well, I go to. But I can't concentrate on the deity very long. Maybe after 15 seconds, some people start thinking about, I have to study this in school, I have to pay my debts. I have to do this. Where do I invest my money if I have any money to invest? So many problems are there that immediately come in the mind. But it's hard to focus. So a sound, you having a totally sound where you see the. As you see with your eyes. At the same time you're hearing the vibration of the Lord's names. Is what the recommend of Yagya is for this day and age. So people know that in Bengal, because Lord Chaitanya popularized that. But there's somehow, just like people have temples and then they hire priests to do their worship program, admonishing some of the rich Indians, why don't you do the worship yourself? We will train you, we will initiate you. You worship the deity yourself. Rather than hiring just a proxy priest and waiting for five minutes, just spend an hour and do some puja for your deity. Spend a little time or half hour. But most people that don't take it up well chanting, you don't even have to be initiated to chant. Everybody can chant, so it makes it that much easier. But then some professional chanters, they chanted nicely. Some people like to listen to them, but they're chanting. There's two kinds of chant. There's two people that chant because they like to chant. They chant because they want to chant to please Krishna. They're not doing it because they're getting paid for it or anything. And there's some people that they chant just because it's their profession. They're like professional chanters. And they're technically good at the music, the drums or the harmonium or some people. And they have elaborate dance in this winter season in Bangladesh, in eastern parts of India, especially Bengal, they even have flute players and sometimes clarinets and the whole band ensemble. Now, lady dance are very popular. But they met practicing Ka consciousness. We had one devotee who was in one of those bands. Later he became practicing devotee and he admittedly said, when I was here, they chant for two hour shifts. They do 24 hour kirtans as a nam yagya. Sometimes it goes on for two days or 72 hours. So every two hours there's a new shift, a new group comes in. This type of nam yang is actually established by Ro Chanya but for devotees to do it as a sacrifice among the devotees. But instead of that, some rich businessmen will hire a group of good technically expert singers to comment. Then there's like a competition who has the most famous groups. So they say kirtan groups like this, the Radharani group enlisted. There's the Bang Siwala group and there's the Mukunda Sampradaya group. They have all kinds of funny, beautiful names. So they'll play. So our wonderlori, he said he was in one of those groups as a jungle player. But at that time he would be smoking cigarettes. You're not allowed to smoke during the chanting. Of course, he had to present yourself as pure devotees. Once you go off the arena, then you're in the backstage, then you can do whatever you. Within certain minutes you'd smoke anyway. So he was saying that at the end of his two hour stint he was feeling so much nicotine withdrawal symptoms and all he could think about is when is this computer of the obra, so you might have a smoke. But once he became. Once he learned that you actually chant to please Krishna, he didn't even know that that was an option. He thought this was just like people. Here are jazz singers. If you want to make it big there, you become a kirtan singer or something. Here there's blues, jazz, hip hop and there were so many things. So that's one of the types of songs that people do there. There's also sangit and there's other git folk songs and other different types of songs. But this is one of the kinds of singing. But once he became a devotee, then he would go for hours and hours, of course, and he gave up his habits. He was able to overcome them. He was completely happy. He said, I never knew that you could be so happy chanting Hare Krishna. So if you're not in devotee, if you're not actually chanting in the right mood, then it's a bit. We don't mind even if people smoke and chant in the sense that people may have so many habits and if they chant and gradually they can get over the different habits, if anything, it's an obstacle. Things that you don't really need to do to be happy and why do that? But if people don't chant, they won't have an alternative to switch to. So the idea though, is to chant in the right mood, to chant with the idea of our own spiritual development and for the pleasure of ka. So in this way, for spiritual reasons, if one chants, it has a totally different significance and effect. But the Siddhanta saracetagas, many Hivi thinks about these traditional groups. But one thing that they said is that what they're chanting is not transcendental because they're chanting for money. It remains on a level of mona goodness. So people are just getting pious activities. Or if you hear a pure devotee chanting, it has a change in the heart. The prabhupada heard surah. I mean, people heard sura prabhupada chant and their whole vision about life, their whole orientation, everything started to change very quickly. That's why even maybe some of these professional bhajan singers who do the Hindi dhooms and everything, they may sound nice, people play them, but you don't see too many people becoming pure devotees from it. Where people heard Srila prabhupada, even they didn't know anything about ka. And so many people became devotees. And that's the effect of a transcendental vibration, even if it may not be so technically expert perfect. All the Prabhupada tomayo is very, very excellent presentation musically, even though I think that sincere chanting has a change in the heart and the listeners. So because the chanting is not different from ka, ka is going to be discussed here in the next verse. Now it says the best of the embodied beings, the physical nature which is constantly changing is called aributa. So the bodies are always changing every day. So many cells are. How many millions of cells are dying? How many new ones are constantly being reborn? That's the material manifestation. It's always in a constant state of destruction and creation and maintenance in between. And when the Lord, he's the universal form, includes everything, all the demigods or devas, including sun, moon, this all hadi daiva. Okay, then I, the supreme Lord, who's represented by the super soul in the heart of every embodiment being. He's the Lord of the sacrifice, Adi Yajnas. So Krishna is the Lord of the sacrifice. He's the one who gives us the result of our sacrifices. He's the one who gives the blessings, who gives the rewards. Everyone's praying to him, Please give me this, give me back. He doesn't necessarily give everybody what they ask for exactly when they. He asks what? There's certain criteria. He has his own criteria for things. But if he's pleased with the devotee, he'll give them whatever they ask for. Even more than that, maybe what they're asking for isn't exactly what they really want. Soon they get even more, which is what will fulfill their ideas much better. So above this whole constantly fluctuating, changing material world with its embodied living entities that are making the things move, there's the supreme Lord of. Supreme Lord of Sacrifice, who's all pervasive and who's in everyone's heart. That's his representation. But he's also as Lord of Sacrifice. He is above and beyond it all at the same time. Everything is very much under his dominion. If we develop the ability to remember him, especially at the end of our life. Today, after 20 days, I was able to open Internet. Somebody was chanting Caveri lost her mother just yesterday. She just started chanting a short while ago, a little lady from Peru. And then one of my disciples who was a priest in the San temple, he said he was feeling some asthma and I don't know why. Normally they take him to the asthma or call it back somehow he just sat down, he was chanting with some devotees and quietly he passed away. So all these persons were chanting when they left. So Krishna Sensei, however, requits his body, remembering me alone attains amongst my nature of this there's no doubt sometimes you ever hear from Orissa would call this doesn't look like it. So many people think that. Well, in India spreading Krishna conscience is very easy. But it's not very easy everywhere. Everywhere. Just as Parama mentioned, the purple. There are going to be some challenges because in India the things have been going on in a particular way. In different places you face different orthodox ways that people do things. And although Ka consciousness is very much bona fide, but it's not well understood by everybody. Somewhere in northern or east and some of our Namhata village groups, we faced a problem there that the village Brahmanas, the caste Brahmins, they opposed devotees going to the Navhada groups. They felt threatened. They thought that if people go to this high Krishna groups, they may not come to us, perform their rituals and we'll lose our income. Because these priests are performing birth, death and various kinds of weddings, other kinds of rituals, purohity. So they abandoned. They told anybody who goes to the Hare Krishna group we won't perform their death ceremony. We'll just leave the body, lie there and Their soul will be whatever pretty unfortunately it's situation. So the villagers were frightened and apart from the hardcore devotees many of them had stopped coming. But there was one Zamindar that means he was a landlord. Of course in these days landlords have been abolished. But used to be that India up till 50 years ago during the British Raj there was even a few decade after, five, six years after there were landlords who were like in feudal system like barons and earls and dukes and people like that who would collect the taxes from the local people, the local agriculturalists in turn they would turn that over to the next level up in the government, whatever the hierarchy was in that particular place. So they usually had the big houses and they had their own establishment. But then now they still have the big houses without many of them are in yield repair and they're just a shell of what they used to be because they don't have the. The government directly collects the coins in taxes and has its own infrastructure. The landlords are only ex former landlords. But this particular former landlord he was a very old gentleman at that time and he maybe 20 years ago. So he saw the peak of the British lands or declined immigrant anyway. And he had learned a lot of English habits like drinking. So he was a modern kind of person. But then at the end of his life he took a fancy to the Hare Krishna devotees who had to come over and chant in his mansion and would give donations for facade distribution, things like that. So when he knew that he was about to die, the doctor said you're going to breathe your last. He invited the Mahmud group. He didn't care anyway. The Brahmas were never going to do a puja for me. In the following day British contaminated. So he called the Mahmuda devotees to come over and perform chanting for him. And so he was chanting Hare Ka with him and he left his body chanting Hare Krishna. So all the villagers know this verse, if you remember me. At the time of death he went back to Godhead. Then they suddenly said well look, after we die the balance will do that. Priests will do that last rites which may help us to get to heaven. But the Hare Krishna devotees they chant Hare Krishna with us and that we are able to chant before we die. As we're leaving we go right back to Gandhi and liberated. It's much higher even than heaven. So then they thought better the Hare Krishna's method because at least it was a better security. So they all went back to the Namhat group and then started chastising the priests and the priests had another meeting amongst themselves and decided to join the Hare Krishna group. And they also do, the Latin say in America, if you can't beat them, join them. That's true, but so everywhere you find different obstacles, different challenges. So many amount of bodies in India, when they want to marry their daughters or sons, then it always has to be the same caste or the same very complicated. They don't find a devotee of that right caste. Maybe there's not enough devotees yet. So then, because maybe the parents, black devils. So everywhere you find a few challenges and then you have to discuss and work out and help people to establish what their priorities are. Krishna does take care of these devotees. What's important is people become devotees. The Vedas say that a parent's duty is to see that the children don't take birth again. Someone to be a mother, a father, to be a teacher, to be a king, to be a guru. You'd have the responsibility to liberate your. What was the order I said it anyway? Your students, your children, your students, your subject or your disciples. And even if somebody has one of those elders who are not able to liberate them, then it's not a sin to even ignore them and take shelter of a pure devotee guru. If you don't have a pure devotee guru, then when they follow your elders, even some guidance better than that. But if you actually find the sad guru, someone who's really able to liberate you, and even if the traditional guides are there, who are not able to liberate you, and they're not intelligent enough to understand what the priorities and that guru are, and informed them that there's a particular verse says that you can accept a sad guru's shelter. There's no offense, because others are not really guru. They're not rejecting the guru. If they can't liberate you, what kind of guru are they? The word used in the Sloka was Vyavaharika Guru. They're just like socially acting like a guru figure, but they're not actually functioning in a real sense. They're not actually able to liberate the world. So it's just very superficial. But actually we like that once people are devotees, we try to train them to respect their parents, respect their elders, not to be disrespectful to anybody. It's only when there are elders who are very much opposing their children. Practicing Ka consciousness becomes the kind of conflict situation. Otherwise the ideal situation we want is the whole family should practice, even if they're at different Levels but let everyone unitedly worship Ka. It's a family process. Not many people say I don't see guys anymore because everybody got married and they don't have families and they're working but they're all practicing Krishna consciousness was all hopefully most of them more people are practicing Krishna conscious but they're not so visible. They don't have so many maybe have the same or a fewer number of the Brahmacharis but we have some Brahmacharis but they're not the vast number of. Because we're really a family process. They want the whole family to practice. I was just coming, I'm just coming now from New Zealand where they have opened a new temple of Radha Gitadhari. For 14 years or more they were building this temple and they completed it with beautiful artwork inside and very nice marble floor organites for I believe and adorned Indian architecture. Basic, simple but traditional. So we took the Rana Girardhari and Borne in Thai and Jagannath and awesome bugging 1km to the new temple and 1. What do you call that convertible with the axe open? Jap was in the convertible. No, he was in the convertible. Hearts and money. Nice abhishek. I mean 1 hour abhishek. Not like the 3 hour when we expected my airport but they kept telling me this is not my airport. It was very beautiful. It was very nice. And the next day on Sunday, yesterday was Sunday because I flew Nev. I did the whole day Sunday the mayor was there speaking. I spoke also at 4 o', clock, went to the airport, flew out at 7:30. Then I arrived at 10:30 the same day in Los Angeles. Then I had another fire yard gap in San Diego and then gave a Sunday feast lecture. So it was a long day. It's a quite interesting day. So the mayor of that Redmond I think was the name of the suburb of Akron, New Zealand and he gave a very nice speech. He said actually we're very proud to have Hare Krishna community here. We feel that by having this temple maybe the good work you people are doing will become better recognized because the temple will let people to appreciate you better. And he said here in Rahman we are a community that respects and tolerates different views and different cultures. We like to use the word. At that time I didn't hear it clearly. But he said this is only a free living society where everyone's free to live and practice what they believe in. And so he said we're very happy that the Hare Krishnas are here. And he kind of invited Eli Hindima very strongly saved. Anybody wants to move near the temple, we will all be welcome. So Hare Krishna devotees will be very welcome to live in our community. Nice to hear. I don't hear till the mayor and he told me that the land mass of his of his municipality is something like two thirds of the total Auckland area. But three fourths of the total population is living in the other small area. So they were encouraging people to move in and build up. And there were so many people that came here. There was over a thousand cars and it was. Mary didn't worry people. They had Archie trays. They ran out. Some people wanted to offer Archie to the gator. They ran out whatever hundred they had. It was open day. So many people just coming off the street to see the temple. So I was fortunate to be there for that function. I was thinking how I was hoping Monday to have a big temple here and a mountain or something somewhere. Then it seemed to. I had a dinner, I was sitting with the mayor and he went oh. So he told me about this population. So we were really happy to have one. The more the easier people pure life and we have no problem with that. So I like to have. So the way that ka consciousness is in different places is being accepted. That's where most of our devotees in the area of course are married people. Life changing congregation. Significant local. Oh yeah. I wanted to tell you, I was talking about families and things was that they have in New Zealand they also have this community called Maoris who are kind of. They arrived a lot earlier than the English did. And that's a good question. Nobody really knows from where. Some people say actually of Amsterdam trade. If you go on tracing them back, you find that originally the people came from India. But many thousands of years of migrating to different islands. Their own legend says that somebody rode on a whale. So this was a popular movie, the Whale Rider. It shows something about the Maori culture. Says you get one Maori to be a devotee and then one won't become a devotee unless the whole family becomes. So it's like. So they got a number of families to become devotees and they perform a particular kind of dance which is called the haka. So this one family has. It was originally a war dance. A war. Before going in battle, they would perform this dance, this haka to get themselves worked up to fight. And still if you ever see the rugby game, the blacks who represented New Zealand team after singing the national anthem they go into Abdul. So I can't demonstrate. But also they have something like the Hawaiian Islands and that type of South Pacific flavor to it. So they had the whole group up there and they did a welcome for everybody. So they chant. It's very emotional, but it's very simple with them. Only a hand guitar. But it's like, really, they sing it from deep front, very deep. And then they wave their hands and do things. So they did two groups on two different days performing haka to show that we'd also integrate Vietnam, Maori children, gurukul and some families who share hare ka. It was very difficult for them to adapt to all of our customs gradually taking up. So this one group performed the Hare Krishna, where they were the chair of Hare Krishna and performed this dance. And then they also. They had composed in the Maori language a ballad about Maharishingha Dev. And at the time when Machinya Dev liberated Harmi Kashiput, then the women went to the back and the men came in the front. Interesting. I was thinking how PR he was also encouraging bhakti Brahmanamuras in Manipur, where they also have some unique cultural. Maybe their own cultural uniqueness is actually the right word. I want to say to preserve some of. Preserve that also that they could wear their traditional dress and things to still be the boys. They had their own kind of sarongs that were saffron color, pink color. So I was thinking how to. It's very interesting to see that now the Maoris are also becoming devotees and how they're Krishna Kancha izing their culture. So Americanizing their Mahari dam and expression of that and how we're trying to culturally integrate at the same time, culturally share. They were also contributing something to this world that there should be. We don't want to lose cultures, but we don't want also to lock out that there are other kinds of cultures and that what to be gained. So within this whole Vaishnava of culture, there's something also that's very important that we can learn. Many of the external things may not be essential in the sense of that we have to only use that as a medium for our propaganda or preaching. Sometimes it's very beautiful. I mean, people come to see culture, to see different dresses and different dance styles. We come to see that became a heritage because plastic modernization, everything tends to get ready boring and sane people. I can see something in some traditions from the past. So we have a tradition that's based on this principle given here. Remembering ka and not forgetting. So remember through dance, through music, through art, through so many different cultural expressions. But that helps us to remember Ka now somebody can do that in various ways. But this is also the traditional way that people remember Ka talking about. In the glories of this eighth chapter, Bhagavad Gita, there's Lord Shiva was asked by Parvati to explain why the eighth chapter. What was the glorious about the eighth chapter, the Mahatmya. And he explained that there was once a couple, actually two Ka conscious families and they had their children. And within the boy from one family married a girl from the other. But they weren't. This new couple didn't. The second generation didn't take up Ka consciousness as seriously as their parents did. Right away they were rather more interested in kind of experiencing life and what enjoyments might hold out for them. So they decided to go and travel around and experience different things. So now they had already been traveling around for a couple of some years and some period of time. I didn't exactly say how long, but long enough that they're sitting under this tree, a big tamarind tree. And the husband was expressing that I am really bored. I'm tired of just traveling around, I'm bored. And everywhere we go we see the same kind of things defeating themselves. And Prabhupada once said somebody want to travel. But what everybody's eating, maybe smoking and defending. They just have different styles of drinking. So here more or less was expressing earlier just seeing different people, somebody with their fingers, some people with chopsticks, with their fork, some with a spoon. But you know, I was a saving tonight I'm really wondering something a bit more essential to life. Who is the self? I mean, who are we? What is the spiritual reality? What is this law of karma we hear about? How does karmas work? And who is the supreme, the supreme truth? Tennis wise, you know, when I was. Because our families were devotees, I learned it. I don't know if you learned this, but I learned a verse where a Jew may ask almost the same question to Krishna. Now they didn't know that this tree they were seated under was actually the assassin's tree, the hangman's tree, execution tree. It was like instead of really killing the people like they do here in the gas chamber in some correctional institution, they used to do a public leap hanging up in this tree. Everybody could see it had a deterrentive effect. Yes, for other criminals. So over the. This is a very old tree. It's over a hundred years old. So there was a thousand people hung there. There was a lot of spooks, ghosts unrequited in that tree because hanging is Not a national death. So suicide, murder, assassination, execution, all these kinds of unnatural death. Often you don't take an immediate birth. So they didn't have an immediate. They were there in a tree. So here these two are disgusting. I guess they have nothing there to do. They're all hanging around listening to the discussion and they're talking and all of a sudden, without any warning, the wife quotes this verse from the Bhagavad King, Tat Brahma king, aging karma. No sooner did she say that the whole tree like exploded, fell down because so many thousand ghosts that were stuck to that tree by some subtle connection behind there, they all got liberated. Bang one, this one tank. And they all listen to this Bahua slogan. And because they were all liberated, the tree was just like the tree itself got liberated, it fell down and the atma from the tree was liberated. So all these subtle entities, now they actually had the Satchitananda, eternal blissful spiritual forms. And they were visible to this couple. They were saying, wow, what's going on here? All these effulgent beings. And then somehow they were given the wisdom to understand what happened. I don't know exactly how, but then this from the spiritual world, the Vishnu Duttas, they came down in a suitably large aircraft, bigger than a jumbo boy, must have this design, no, Airbus. Everybody piled in, thank you very much. So here they were already dead. They're already dead. And even they heard the names of the Lord. And it is in this mantra. Purushottam is one name of Krishna. And they all got liberated. So my husband turned to his wife, wow, what did you just say? What did you do? You got the Shanti, what did you just do? My dear wife? So well, I learned this verse from the Bhagavad Gita and tell me that verse again. I'm going to learn that verse. That was powerful. I mean all those people got liberated by hearing that verse. So if I chant that verse, sooner or later I'm going to get liberated, right? It worked for them. It worked for me too. So I seeing as believing, I believe he believed because he saw it. Something that most of us probably never had an opportunity to see. There were thousands of living entities get liberated and go in their spiritual form back in a spiritual airplane that got out of the spiritual world. I definitely have a deep impression on anybody to see something like that. So he started to, he memorized that verse. He just started chanting every day like we chanterate Krishna, Japa. This was his Japa. This was his mantra meditation. He will Be chanting every day soon as he get up in the morning actually sounds very nice. But really King means is what? So King thought Brahma, various steps. What's the truth? Who's the soul? Or King Adyatama means what's the spiritual reality? What's the soul? I'll just read the translation. King Karma of course means what is the fruitive activities? And Purushottam it's who is supreme Godhead. Arjuna inquired, O my Lord, what supreme person? What is Brahman? What is your self? What are the fruitive activities? So he just kept chanting that Kim Sa Karma. After chanting for some long, I don't know, some time, significant time. But he knew it's going to work for me one day that faith and determination skipped out. Which is why we should all have that kind of faith and determination. If we continue to chant Hare Krishna, it's going to work. It works for so right. It's going to work for all of us. In fact, what he did was a bit speculative. It's not recommended that we just take a half a sloker of Bhagavad Gita, but it's definitely recommended. Chant Hare Krishna. Krishna is promising. Remember me at the time of death. You're going back to me. Coming. I'm taking you. Don't worry. How fear. So one day this narayana in the spiritual world, he was smiling and Lakshmi, his goddess of fortune, his consort as the supreme Lord in his format. What makes you laugh today? And he said, well, I'm laughing. I'm feeling very happy with this one Brahman. I'm remembering the universe of the forehead of Brahmar and the planet Earth. Bharat Varsha who's chanting half verse of Bhagavad Gita everything. So I'm thinking what should I give him as a blessing? And he has his assistant there, who's his kind of general in the camp. Bishik Shane. He calls Bishik Shama, big man, his wife too. They sent down the Vishtadutas and brought him back to Ghanaian. He didn't even have to buy it then the spiritual body and Lisa and everything. So even half a verse of chanting, when you read the whole verse or read the whole chapter, it's just a half of earth. One person just started chanting and he got back to garbage. So this is very powerful. Attaining the supreme. I want to do the chanticani. Attaining the supreme. This is what we should be trying for in our life as a multiple attain the supreme to go through life and experience what we have to Experience to be peaceful and have enough happiness and comfort that we can maintain our equilibrium. Somebody. But the real point is ultimately to attain the supreme that gives us the secret. So hope all of you will attain the supreme in this lifetime. If we practice chanting Hare Krishna throughout our life, we'll definitely remember Krishna the time again. Krishna also promises that for his devotee the medhakta, bananas and tea, his devotees will never perish. They'll protect them and save them. Hare Krishna, any questions? Yes. You see, the tracking of the material state is not translated. And the only chance that offense is it still non different from Krishna. There's different levels of pure devotees. So Prabhupada called the pure devotee. Who's this? Beginning with some offenses is like unripe fruit because their desire is to please Krishna or the desire is that so it's some spiritual qualities are coming through. So like you have a green banana, you keep it long enough, it will rip and become a yellow rice. There's still a banana, but it's just green. They just keep chanting and then it will start to eventually ripen. But the chanting of the least offenses, the more powerful the chanting will be for others offensive chanting, the more effective at one's own gradual purification. And as one starts to get rid of. I don't have a metre gauge like a Geiger counter. But what we understand from the scripture, as one understands more and more purely, the effect on the listeners is more profound. Exactly. You know how bhakti Lord is described as different levels of bhakti that we reach each. You have different purity, so you can take it from that. Depending what level of bhakti one's at. It's not a black and white thing. They're learning different levels of shades of advancement. If someone's just purely chanting for money, they don't have any spiritual purpose. People still get benefit, but it cannot be more of goodness. If somebody wants some spiritual quality, wants to get spiritual realization that they still may be very conditioned and have very material desires mixed with that their chanting would still be more effective for affecting other people. Because a little bit they have that spiritual interest. They're not disinterested in the spiritual aspect. They're interested, but maybe they're still somewhat conditioned to different degrees. So as we become more and more unconditioned and become more free from offensive mentality, come to the clearing stage and then the offensive stage, the chanting will have more effect both in ourselves and on others. The problem many devotees often they would say, well, we're not pure devotees. There's pre devotees in different religions and there are many different number of different philosophers there. And in that Sunil and Prabhupada's disciples one point he told him chant Hare Krishna. They chanted and everybody started to clap their hands. And the prophet said sidhy's so enlivened by your chanting because you're all purely words. How should a person chant? In other words, what is the best method for chanting? Should you chant loudly? Should you chant mid range softly with your mind sitting down, standing up, running? What's the most effective way? Well, loud chanting, soft chanting, mental chanting. These are the three levels of chanting. So one lady once asked by Haridas Takura Vu's ghee who have the authority of chanting that since the mental chanting is on the men's and the subtle platform, the psychic astral level which is much higher than the gross material level. So the subtle material level, wouldn't that be more powerful? She asked her poignant question of already trying to put the answer into his mother. But he said no, actually allow chant is a hundred times more powerful than mental chanting. Yes, the Lao chanting you're helping other living entities because the Lao chien for is helping other living entities, other plants, animals, humans, our hearing. So but you're helping other people in case you have any offenses yourself to Krishna or holy nation. But because you're helping others, you're freed from your offenses to the others. It's like a kind of a transcendental card that you commit offenses to others spiritual progress and it blocks yours. You help others in their spiritual progress, that frees your progress. So that's why the Lao chanting is more effective. But there's not like once in a while you can do loud chanting, you can't do it all the time because there are certain environments that be working in your office are shown. I mean I was chanting even softly when I went in Toronto when I was just a Bach to be all sent out to get jobs and I was working Luther stand and I just had a menial tasks in that place. Marie allowed a 15 minute coffee break, root beer break, whatever I take, I would chant and take a Japanese break. And this manager of that store, this was in the 60s so I didn't have too many human rights even in Canada. He said you can't, you can't, you can't, you can't chant, you can't. Whatever you're doing, you can't do it. And I said well why not? This is coffee baby, drink coffee. And I said well coffee is A stimulation for people. And this is my stimulation. He just says, I know nothing. You can't do it here. I don't know what you're doing, but it's not enough. So what to speak. I wouldn't even chant loudly. I just chanting in the corner, off in the back, you know, just to. Don't get that. That's from the tap. You gotta boil it. It's not from the tap. It's got a tool seat in it. It's from the kitchen. It's mom. Yeah, sorry. I'm in your lab in a school alone. Okay, so that's why. But sometimes. So we do chat mentally. Sometimes. Like whenever I'm going through a communist country or a Muslim immigration. I'm very mentally charged for France. But I don't know. I drove down from Benevolent. So now you have borders there. Flew in to see what happens if you fly in like this. Good question. I'm going to ask before I go there. But when you're would say 300,000 names and 100,000 would be loud, 100,000 would be soft and 100,000 silent. So because we're only doing 25,000 max, usually 16, almost about 25,000. So we're about as much as we can. When I mentioned Frank, I wasn't joking. I understand. Just yesterday held a protest because women are not allowed to wear. Am I pronouncing it correctly? Hijabs in France. I understand that Jehovah's Witnesses have been expelled in France and that there is a sort of government sponsor move toward particular humanism there. So I'm just wondering. We're on the same list as the Jehovah Witnesses. Hare Krishnas are in the same list as Jehovah Witnesses and trance along with the Mormons and many, many other. So does that mean you require them to wear a secular dress? That I don't. No, but we do. But they're not that heavy. And apply like how they apply it. It's not as. Not that heavy. They're not allowed to. Don't have like all the perks of a bona fide religion. What they consider bona fide religion, tax benefits and things like that. But somehow we get a. Permission to do a Rafiatcha there in Paris and we do do a Rath Yantra and we have lots of people coming. So I don't know exactly what they're categorizing us and then whatever that category is and what they consider, you know, dangerous religions or something, what that does to us in terms of. But there are definitely some limitations. But it's not an absolute dam. It's not that far because we are still functioning. That just means we don't. There's many more obstacles and less power than protection. Things like that. For sure. Less free, less protection. Give me the back of your hand and go over here. Forehead. This was bathed the day of Yushin form Krishna's mind to remove obstacles in your spiritual life. Thank you for watching our videos. Be sure to subscribe to our channel.
