Guru-Ājñā 2025 Madurai ISKCON THIRUPPALAI - MADURAI

This YouTube recording (Guru-Ājñā 2025 Madurai, ISKCON Thiruppalai) documents a post-lunch spiritual convention featuring talks, devotional music and a cultural drama. Key speakers include His Holiness Jayapataka Swami, Mahavara Prabhu, Bhakti Vinod Swami Maharaj, Eknath Prabhu and several senior devotees and matajis. Core themes: the nature and qualifications of a disciple (surrender, service, proper inquiry), servant leadership (examples from Ramanujacharya, Kurish/Quareshi story), the centrality of Srila Prabhupada’s books and how to read them, guru–disciple care and organizational structures (JPS Seva committee / E-Care), and practical devotional encouragement (kirtan, prasadam, reading practice). The program mixes scripture, personal testimony (Guru’s health, near-death experiences), logistical announcements (festival on April 6), and a staged drama depicting Kurish’s self-sacrifice and restoration to illustrate ideal devotion.
Park outside your massive mansion. Enter it your own luxury palace, a crazy infinity pool in a private jet just waiting. Waiting to take you anywhere in the world. This is your time.
Success is out there and it's calling your name. So stop wasting time.
Get up, get moving and let's make it happen.
Let's go.
Yes.
Yes, let's go. Well then, get going. To turn those dreams into reality, there's one thing you absolutely need. Money. And not just a little, but lots and lots of it. We're talking stacks on stacks. Financial freedom and unlimited opportunities. Want that Porsche 901 and Quinn Exesco?
It takes cash.
That massive mansion, it's not coming for free. Your private jet, exotic vacations, luxury lifestyle, it all comes with a price tag. But guess what? That money is out there waiting for.
You to claim it.
You just need to step up, hustle hard and go after it. Learn the game, master the skills, take risks, and grab every opportunity that comes your way. The world doesn't hand out success. You have to chase it, fight for it and own it. So, are you ready to make that money and live the life you've always dreamed of? Let's get it.
You look at yourself. Wasting away in this empty, pathetic cycle. Chasing dreams that will never fill the void inside you. Money, power, success. Lines, all of it, just chains wrap around you, keeping you trapped in this miserable, meaningless heapistics.
But this, this is the real escape.
No fake promises, no hollow ambitions.
Just pure, unfiltered release.
One sip on the weight of the world vanishes.
No pain, no guilt.
There's darkness wrapping around you like a warm embrace. Come on, stop resisting. Stop pretending you're strong. Let it in, let it take over. One taste and you'll never want to return.
Ah, ah. Real satisfaction. And dance.
This feeling, it is so beyond anything else. So pure.
So come we nothing else matter. Just this moment, just this bliss.
This is the best. Nothing compare. Hey, got another one. Here. This too is the same kind of stuff. The good stuff.
Hey, don't smoke and drink. It is not good for your health.
People, they'll say despair for you. They'll warn you, try to scare you. Just ignore them like you did. You know why? Because they don't want you to feel this. They want you to taste this pleasure with this cave. They want you to keep you trapped in a tall little world. Following the rented wounds.
This is so good.
They like heaven.
Sir, Why I didn't do this earlier?
Hey, long time no see. Why are you so gloomy? What happened to you?
I got addicted so much that my body is falling apart.
Drinking, smoking.
It felt like an escape.
But now it is a prison.
And worst of all, I don't know.
If I can ever go back to being normal.
I know what to do.
Let's leave this behind and visit temples. Let the chants calm your mind, the sacred air cleanse your soul. It's never too late to change. Come, let's find peace and start fresh. After visiting various temples, the soul came across a devotee near an Iskcon temple. Join us on April 6th for the Dakota Festival at our sport temple. Please come and receive the blessings of their ships and enjoy a 14 course feet after this location. Hare Krishna living on the 6th of April.
Protein activities are temporary relief of material pain and distress. But Bhakti Yoga gives permanent relief from all the material pain and distress. Let's honor Prasadam now. Sam sir, you said in the class that you can get permanent area for material business. Can you please help me and guide.
Me to do so?
Okay, Prabhu. I am very happy to do so.
Then he started camping, coming to the temple regularly. But he stopped coming just after a month or so. He was again addicted to drinking and smoking. Where did you go, my friend?
Friend?
I waited but you ran thinking you could leave. Did you believe life out there could replace what we had? The police, the oblivion.
But none of that matters.
Your back, right?
Made it now.
So why fight it here free? Let it all fade away.
Hey buddy. Where have you been? You've got dreams to chase, goals to conquer and a fortune waiting for you. Time is running and the world isn't going to wait. No more excuses.
Rise up.
Push harder, Move faster. Dominate every challenge.
Crush every obstacle and take what's yours.
The world doesn't wait for anyone. Now make it happen.
Friend.
Where have you been?
Life is not just about running endlessly. It is about finding peace, about living with purpose. Come, take a step back.
Embrace a life of calmness, of goodness.
Engage in pious activities. Fill your heart with devotion. Let your soul find true happiness. The world may pull you in many directions. But peace lies the path of righteousness.
Hare Krishna.
Prabhup.
I hope you are doing well. I have missed seeing you at the temple lately and just wanted to check in. What happened, Prabhuji? Is everything okay? How has everything been going for you? I am really sorry I haven't been able to come to the temple. My old addiction has reset failure. And I have been traveling through the Tetra. I feel overwhelmed and confused not knowing how to treat people. I am really lost I need your guidance. Please help me.
Shar Prabhu, with the mercy of Guru and Gaura have definitely unhealthy.
Please come with me.
Gradually he began to come to the temple regularly dedicating himself to his spiritual practice. With the guidance and support of his Siksha Guru, he was able to let go of all his addictions. Over the next two years, he immersed himself in continuous learning, growing spiritually and received constant support from his Shiksha Guru. This transformative journey led him to a moment of great significance. After two years of sincere effort and progress, he received initiation from his Diksha guru, making a new chapter in his spiritual life. Lord Sri Krishna states in Bhagavad Gita 14.26 Maamchayobhya Bicharena Bhakti Yogena Sevate Sagunan Samadhi Brahmabhuiyaya Kalpatev One who engages in full devotional service, unfailing in all circumstances at once, transcends the modes of material nature and thus comes to the level.
Of Brahman.
Sam.
Hare Krishna. I know it is immediately after lunchtime. I know half of you are in.
Ecstasy but these kids are performing very nicely.
You can give a loud round of applause please.
How was the drama? Yes, it was nice. Did you notice the hidden details in it? Yes, I did notice. In the beginning they didn't show. They didn't have any idea of the material world and came here to enjoy exploited. But they doesn't know that every step they took it under the control of three modes of material nature. There is another. There is also another. There is another also another Guru Tattva, Vartamana Prata Guru, Shiksha Guru and Diksha Guru who? There is also another guru Tattva called Chaitya Guru and there is. Yeah, now I remember that Partamana Prataksha Guru was devotee who invited the soul to the temple. Shiksha Guru was devotee who saved and helped the soul twice and Diksha Guru one who gave soul initiation. Thank you Hare Krishna.

Really? Jai Jayashi, Chaitanya Jayan.
Now we are very much ready and I think all of you are awake.
After clapping hands and singing.

Here we go. Hurry.
Ball. People under the three modes of material nature. Satvaguna, Prajoguna and Tamo Guna. Now we are going to portray how each person in these Hare Krishna. The previous play showed the nature of people under the three modes of material nature. Satvaguna, Prajoguna and Tammo Guna. Now we are going to portray how each person in these modes were instructed according to their nature by a bona fide spiritual master and were able to transcend beyond and attain Sudhyasattva, pure devotional service irrespective of what mode they were previously situated. Here comes the story of Bilgaari, the enemy of animals.
Hahaha.
Another pitiable creature falls to the bow of mighty. The day is yet young. I shall torture and kill many more beasts before evening comes. Flap your wings little birdie, you cannot do so. Hahaha. Lie here a while and when you exhaust your strength, I'll finish you off for my evening supper. Even the mighty wild lion stands no chance against the strength of Megari. Oh these poor creatures. Such pain and suffering. Who could have done such a thing? Only one with sadistic mentality is capable of such horrible acts. You would suffer no longer, my dear friends. I will set you free from your plight. Hey you. How dare you do such a thing.
Why?
I would kill a man for less. However, your saintly character influences me and I'm reluctant to do so. Tell me, why have you come here while I'm hunting? Who are you? I am Narada. And while passing this way I saw this horrible scene. Who has committed these sinful acts? What he has seen is all right. It was done by me. But why do you not killing the animals completely instead of half killing them and leaving them to suffer? My dear saintly person, my name is Merigarhi, the enemy of the animals. My father taught me to mind them like this. When I see half killed animals suffer, I feel great pleasure. But I beg you one thing from you. Oh yes, I shall give you whatever you like. Perhaps you would like some animal flesh or some nice skins. I have many at home. Tiger skin, deer skin, flesh. I don't want any such thing. All I ask is this. From this day on, if you must hunt animals, then please kill them completely. Do not leave them suffering in great pain. I beg you. Why are you asking this of me? What is wrong with such an act? After all, they are only animals. By giving pain to other living entities, you commit great sin. It is already very sinful when you kill an animal completely. But the offense is much greater when you half kill it. Indeed, the pain which you give these creatures will have to be accepted by you in a future world. Ah, you do not believe me? Then I will show you by my mystic powers. Behold. Oh my Lord. Indeed I am a sinful wretch and deserve only punishment. But is there some way I can be freed from my unlimited sins? If you throw away your book and listen to my instruction, I shall tell you what is to be done.
What?
Throw away my book? If I do that, how shall I live my wife? Do not worry. Every living being in the universe is being maintained by the supreme personality of God. Just depend on the Lord and rest is assured. For I shall personally make sure that you have sufficient food to eat Every day. Both you and your wife should leave home taking only one cloth to bear. Build a small cottage by the riverside and so a Tulasi plan by the cottage. Every day you should circumambulate the Tulasi tree and serve her by giving her water. And above all, you should constantly chant the holy name of Krishna. Hare Krishna. Hare Krishna. Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama. Hare Rama. Rama Ramahare. As far as your livelihood is concerned, I shall send you grains, vegetables, fruits and milk so that you may live a simple, wholesome life. But you should only accept as much as food you require for yourself and your wife. As you say, my Lord. Brihari's life was transformed from that day onwards. After he returned home, he exactly followed the instructions of his spiritual master Naradamri. The news that the cruel hunter had become a peaceful devotee of Krishna spread all over the area. Indeed, all the local villagers brought alms and presented them to Mirikari and his wife. Good morning, Jrigari. We are nearby villagers. Welcome my friends. Until now we have been a friend to come and visit you. But now we are ever joy to see you living such a good life. Please accept our offerings of friendship. Thank you for your kindness. Please get seated. That is most kind of you, but we must be getting back to our ways early. Please come again. Hare Krishna. Lord Krishna is so kind to his devotees. Yes, but it is only by the mercy of our Gurudeva Srila Narada Muni that we are able to receive the benediction of Krishna. My dear Parvata Muni. This is the hunter I was telling you about. O Nrigadi. Oh, there are some ants in my path. I must be careful not to harm them. Just see. Previously Mergari was hunting and maiming animals but now he would not even harm an ant. Actually, such behavior is not at all astonishing. For simply by performing devotional service to the Lord, all good qualities are automatically developed. My dear Narada, certainly you are a touchstone. For by your wonderful association, even a low born hunter has been transformed into a humble devotee of the Lord. Now here is the story of the young Durva who was the powerful devotee. Demonstrating unwavering faith and devotion to the supreme Lord, King Uttanapada was playing with his two children, Dhruva and Uttama. Born of different race, both his children wanted to sit on his lap. Dhruva, you do not deserve to sit on the throne or on the lap of the King. Why? I too want to sit on his lap like Uttama. Am I not his son? Surely you are also the son of the king. But because you did not take your birth from my womb, you are not qualified to sit on your father's lap. Father, don't attempt it. If you at all desire to rise to the throne of the king, then you have to undergo severe austerities. First of all, you must satisfy the supreme personality of Godhead Narayana. And then, when you are favored by him because of such worship, you shall have to take your next birth from my womb. Dhruva became very angry and ran to the quarters of Queen Suniti. Mother. What's the matter, Dhruva?
Why are you crying? Have you been fighting? Has someone been unkind to you? Who was it?
My stepmother, Mother Surichi.
What would cause her to be mean to you? What did you do?
I didn't do anything, Mother. Uttama was sitting on father's lap and I wanted to get up there too. But Mother Surchi said I was not allowed because I was not her child. She said I had to worship Lord Narayana if I wanted to become qualified to sit on the throne after taking my next birth in her own son.
Don't wish for anything inauspicious for others. Anyone who inflicts pain upon others suffers himself from that pain. My dear boy, whatever has been spoken by Suriji is so. Because the King, your father, does not consider me his wife or even his maid serving he feels ashamed to accept me. If you truly desire to sit on the royal throne, you must follow exactly the instructions of your stepmother. Giving up all envy, engage yourself in the service of the lotus feet of the supreme personality of Godhead Lord Narayana.
Is God so great?
He is so great that simply by worshipping his lotus feet your great grandfather Lord Brahma was able to create the universe and your grandfather Swayambabuab Mano achieved the greatest material success and afterwards was liberated. Dear Dhruva, I do not find anyone who can relieve your distress but the lotus eyed Supreme Lord.
Mother, I understand what you are saying. And now I am determined to win the favor of Lord Narayana and nothing shall stop me. Where does one go to find God?
I understand that great sages go to the forest to find him out. But you are too young and inexperienced. You could not.
I shall not return without seeing God. Bless me, Mother.
Dhruva.
Dhruva. In the forest Dhruva inquired all the beasts. Are you God? Are you God? Although he knew nothing about spiritual discipline, he inquired from tree to tree and beast to beast as to where God could be found. Where is God? Are you God? Do you know? Where is God? Where can I find God? Seeing the great determination of Tulva, Krishna as super soul immediately sent his representative Narada to initiate him. Narayana. Narayana. My dear boy, you are only a little boy whose attachment is to sports and other frivolities. Why are you so affected by words insulting your honor? The living entity gets suffering and enjoyment according to his previous actions. But if one understands that he is the spirit soul, he has an affection affinity for neither suffering nor enjoyment. When one is actually situated on the transcendental platform he has nothing to lament nor hanker for. My dear Lord, I am very impudent for not accepting your instruction. But this is not my fault. It is due to me having been born in Kshatriya family. Therefore, your valuable instructions does not stand in my heart. My stepmother Suruchi has pierced my heart with her harsh words. Oh learned Brahmana, I want to occupy a position more exalted than my father and even my grandfather. I want a position not yet achieved within the three words by anyone. Kindly advise me of an honest path to follow by which I can achieve the goal of my life. I wish all good friends fortune for you. You should immediately go to the bank of the Yamuna where there is virtuous forest named Madhuvan. You should take bath thrice daily with great patience. Begin to meditate on the supreme personality of Godhead. Now I shall speak unto you the mantra which is to be chanted in the process of medit. The mantra you chanted sounds like Vedic hymns for me. I don't know what great austerities I had performed to get you as my spiritual master. I believe by your mercy I will surely get the darshan of the Supreme Lord. Please accept my humble obeisances. May the Supreme Lord be pleased with you. Dhruva Maharaja undertook severe penances in order to realize God. During the first month of his yoga practice, he ate only fruit and berries every third day. In the second month, Dhruva Maharaj ate only once every six days and he ate only dry grass and leaves. The third month, he simply drank water once every nine days. And he remained completely entranced. Worshipping the supreme personality of Godhead. He had no thought but God. In the fourth month of his yoga practice, Dhruva mastered the breathing exercise and he would inhale air only every 12 months. The day in the fifth month, still controlling his breathing, he concentrated his mind fully on the Supreme Person and stood on one leg like a motionless caller. The next month, Dhruva Maharaj became completely absorbed in trance upon Lord Vishnu Krishna. He suspended his breathing, closed all the holes of his body and when he stopped breathing, the total universal breathing became chakra. And all the demigods of the universe felt suffocated. Pleased by his austerity, Lord Vishnu desired to see him. Suddenly the Lord's form disappeared from Dhruva's heart and he broke his meditation. The Lord was standing before Dhruva, fell flat before the Lord and kissed the Lord's lotus his feet and embrace. The Lord Dhruva wanted to offer prayers with profound respect. But because he was a small boy, he could not adjust himself properly, nor could he even speak. The Lord, being situated within everyone's heart, could understand Dhruva's emotions. And out of his mercy, he touched Dhruva's head with his conscience. My Lord, O Supreme Lord, you are the supreme personified form of all benediction. Therefore, for one who abides in your devotional service with no other desire, worshipping your lotus feet is better than becoming king and lording it over a kingdom. O unlimited Lord, kindly bless me so that I may associate with great devotees who engage in your transcendental loving service constantly. That's all what I want. My dear Durva, you have executed pious boss. And I also know the desire within your heart. Although your desire is very ambitious and very difficult to fulfill, I shall fulfill it after your father awards use the rule of his kingdom. You will rule continuously the entire world for 36,000 years. And you will never become old. My dear Durba, after your material life in this body, you will go to my growing planet known as the pole star stars which will continue to exist even after the dissolution at the end of the millennium. No one has ever ruled this planet which is surrounded by all the solar systems, planets and stars. All the minaris in the sky circumlate this planet. And having gone there, we will never have to come back again to this material world. I came into this forest just looking for pieces of broken glass. But instead I have found a great joy in you, my dear Lord. And now I am completely satisfied and don't want anything. Meanwhile, King Uttanapada heard from Narada that his son was alive and that he had become a perfected being and was coming to back home. He considered himself most wretched for having forced his small boy to leave for the forest. Durva, my son. Long may you live.
My son.
I declare Durva as the king of this planet. Dhruva ruled the earth as its king for 36,000 years and displayed all godly qualities. He was especially dear to the devotees and kind to the poor and innocent. He protected religious principles. After his rule, the associates of Lord Vishnu came in Durva. This unique airplane has been sent by the supreme personality of Goddess. You are quite ready to board this plane. What happened? How can I go alone to the spiritual world and leave behind my mother? Your mother has already started her journey to Vaikuntha. Let's association with devotees is the most valuable assert. The rapid sanctification by which Dhruva became a great spiritual personality was possible by the mercy of Dhruva's spiritual master and by the boy's determination to follow his guru's instruction. Haribo, the great sage Vyasadeva, as the sun rose, took his morning bath in the waters of the Saraswat and sat alone to meditate. He could see the influence of the Age of Kanna. To simplify the Veda, he divided Veda into four. Then he compiled the Puranas called the Fifth Veda. Then he compiled the Mahabharata for women and sutras. But astonishingly still his mind was not satisfied. Although he engaged himself in working for the total welfare of all people, he.
Thought.
I have under strict disciplinary verbs worship the Vedas, the spiritual masters and the altar of sacrifice. I have also abided by the rulings and have shown the import of disciplic succession through the explanation of Mahabharata. Infallible Lord. Just like Vyasadeva, spiritual master Narada Muni reached the cottage of Vyasa. Narayana, Narayana Gurudeva. Please take your seat, my dear Vyasadeva. Are you Satisfied by identifying with the body or the mind as objects of self realization. Your inquiries were full and your studies were also well fulfilled. And there is no doubt that you have prepared a great and wonderful work, the Mahabharata. You have fully explained the subject of impersonal Brahman as well as the knowledge derived therefrom. Why should you be despondent in spite of all this thinking that you are undone? All you have said about me is perfectly correct. Despite all these, I am not pacified. I therefore request you about the root cause of my dissatisfaction. For you are of unlimited knowledge due to your being the son of Brahma who is self born. My Lord, everything that is wisdom mysterious is known to you because you worship the original personality of Godhead who is transcendental through three modes of material nature. Like the sun, your goodness can travel everywhere in the three worlds. Unlike the earth, you can penetrate the internal region of everyone. As such, you are as good as all purpose.
Super soul.
Please therefore find out the deficiency in me. You have not actually broadcasted the sublime and spotless glories of the personality of Godhead. That philosophy which does not satisfy the transcendental senses of the Lord is considered worthless. Although you have very broadly described the four principles, Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha, you have not described the glories of the supreme Personality, Vasudeva. Your vision is completely perfect. Your good fame is spotless. You are firm and wow and situated in truthfulness. And thus you can think of the pastime of the Lord in France for the liberation of people in general from all material bondage. Please therefore describe the Lord's activities which you have learned by your vast knowledge of the Vedas. For that will satisfy the hankerings of great learned men and at the same time mitigate the miseries of of the masses of common people who are always suffering from material pangs. As you said, my Lord, with your great mercy in abundance, you made me realize my cause for dissatisfaction. I would write the glories of the supreme personality of poet Krishna and his pure devotees. With your blessings. Kindly bless me. Gurudeva, as instructed by his spiritual master Vyasadeva, was completely satisfied. Haribo.
Hari Haribo.

Make your choice but put the mobile in a silent mode. Hope the post lunch session Samadhi is over one hour. That was a good time. I was very happy for the children performance because I was expected to speak just after lunch. The most challenging time for the speaker is post lunch session. We do some invocation prayers. Hopefully before that light will come Krishna Chaitanush Hare Krishna. Please raise your hand and chant Hare Krishna. So welcome everyone for the post lunch session. The topic is what it means to be a disciple and different levels of disciples, different categories of disciples. The word disciple is the English word and it's coming from Shishya. Shishya means Sashana discipline. Disciple means who can be disciplined. First qualification of a disciple is that he is ready to be disciplined. And guru means heavy. Bhagavad Gita explains how to approach a spiritual master as a disciple. Translation Just try to learn the truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him submissively and render service unto him. The self realized souls can impart knowledge unto you because they have seen the truth. So in this verse there are three aspects. Surrender, service and inquiry. So in the Sevai Prabhupada explains in the purport, unless there is surrender and service, only asking question is not going to help a disciple. It is explained in Chaitanachari Tamrita Dikshakale Bhakta Korea atma samurpan Seikale Krishna Korea atma sam at the time of initiation when a devotee fully surrenders unto the service of the Lord, Krishna accepts him to be as good as himself. So Diksha means atma samarpan Surrender. Surrender is not slavery. Surrender is not slavery. It is a voluntary choice of an individual of an individual. This world is the world of ego. The greatest obstacle or disqualification of a person to be a disciple is that ego. Surrender means give up. That ego I is the symbol of that ego I. So day before yesterday we went to the place where Ramanujacharya accepted his mantra Diksha from his Guru. And we were visiting that the house of his Guru. And there we came to know that Ramanujacharya visited his house, visited the house of his spiritual master for 18 times.
Sripad Ramanujacharya.
He got the initiation on 18th time. And when he used to come, Ramanujacharya used to tell I am Ramanuja. And his guru used to say when I will die then you will Come. It has external meaning and also internal meaning. Externally means Guru is telling when he will die, that time will come. Then what's the meaning? But his Guru was mentioning I means the ego. When your ego will die, then you come. That's why we have to give up I. That is the step of surrender. That's why we chant the Prana mantra. Nama Om means no more I. No more means no more I and mine. So when Hanuman went to search for Sita, Lord Ram was waiting for Hanuman. So you know, Hanuman searched Sita and came back to Lord Ram to inform Lord Ram. But when he came and informed Lord Ramin wonderful way. That is the lesson we should learn. Grammatically it is a wrong sentence. Spiritually it is the perfect sentence. I At the end service first found. Therefore service should come first before I. The great devotees, they do great great things. But they don't ask for the credit condition souls. If they do something, they have a list. I have done this. I have done this. A list is there. That is the symptom of your conditioned soul. But we have to give up that ego. And that is the first step to become a disciple. Arjuna also gave up his ego and surrendered to Lord Krishna and RUP Sanatan. They are the embodiment of humility. And they said that we are worse than Jagai and Madhai. We are more sinful than Jagai and Madhai. They are the most qualified people. But they are thinking they are more sinful than Jagay and Madhai. That is the symptom of surrender. Second is service. Service melts the heart of the supreme personality of Godhead. And service also melts the heart of the spiritual master. Once Hila Prabhupada was arriving in a place and the devotees disciples were dancing, jumping in ecstasy, offering gifts to Srila Prabhupada, crying. All these emotions were manifested. The secretary of Prabhupada, he was in the car and he revealed to Prabhupada that these devotees have so much love for you. Prabhupada, I don't have any love for you. And Prabhupada revealed that jumping in ecstasy, offering some gifts, crying. These are good, but these are easy aspects of disciple. Real love means how much anxiety the disciple is taking for his spiritual master. That is the real symptom of love. But menial service is more touching to the heart of the spiritual master and Krishna. We have a tendency to become great devotee.
Kundar Karam.
But KA expects us. Spiritual master expects us to Be good devotee and we can become good devotee by rendering menial services. When he approached his spiritual master Loknath Goswami, Laknath Goswami said I am not qualified to give initiation. Because already you got love of Godhead. You are a prince. You are an educated person. You are from aristocratic family. I am not qualified to give you initiation. Narottam Dastakur understood his guru is testing him. This is the process. The disciple tells the guru. Guru tells the disciple started serving his spiritual master. When his spiritual master used to respond to the nature's call. After that Narutam Dastakur used to clean that place. You have to understand the background of Narutam Dastakur. He was from a king family, royal family. He was a prince. So in order to be a disciple we have to give up our material designations. Lakhnadvasamy started observing that place is everyday clean. I don't have any servant who is cleaning that place. Next day he went little advance and he was hiding in the bush and observing. And he saw Narottam is cleaning the place by his own hand. And when he saw that immediately his heart melted and he decided to give him initiation. That is the quality of a disciple. Menial service to his guru. Then asking question enquiry. Prabhupada used to be very happy with Guru Maharaj. Guru Mahj used to ask question in every lecture of Prabhupada. We got Srimad Bhagavatam because Parikshit Maharaj asked questions. Krishna completed Bhagavad Gita in second chapter only. But Arjuna started asking questions. That's why you got 18 chapters. We have to ask questions. What kind of question? Krishna Sank Prashna. The question should be connected with Krishna consciousness.
Krishna Samprasna, Krishnarudan, Todarbukantam.
Many people come to the spiritual leaders and asking I am not sure which path I should take. I should become. I should pursue MBA or I should become chartered accountant or I should become engineer. This is not the question to be asked to the spiritual master. He is not a career counselor. We should ask question which is related to Krishna and Krishna consciousness. And that that kind of question will benefit the audience. It will benefit the whole society. It will benefit who is asking the question and also will benefit who is answering the question. One question is enough to ask what is that question? How can I serve you? But we ask totally opposite question. Guru Maharaj, how can you serve me? Please smile at me. Please give some flower. Please give this. Please give that. Please do this please do that. We engage the spiritual master in our service. So asking question is very very important. But it should be done with service and surrender and questions should be connected to Ka consciousness. Now levels of disciples in Simd Bhagavatam 9th can to 18th chapter text number 44 describes three levels of disciples. Pituhu translation. A son who acts by anticipating what his father wants is first class. One who acts upon order is second class. And who? One who acts irreverently is third class. One who refuses is like stool. So first class disciple act acts on Guru's desire. He knows the heart of the Guru. And Guru does not have to say what to do, what not to do. Second class acts upon receiving the order. Third class acts but not having respect on the order executes with disrespect what to do? Guru told me I have to do. Okay, I'll do. Third class disciple and fourth class is compared to a stool and who refuses to execute Guru's order. There are different examples of first class disciples. Lord Brahma is first class disciple.
Brahma. Our Mud.
Swami.
Siddhanta Saraswati Takura Vargal.
Sheila Asa Bhaktivedanta Swami Sheila Prabhupada. Time is limited so I have to be quick. We can have lecture for each of these personalities. So better go for these two personalities and his divine grace. Got three instructions from his Guru. Got three instructions from his Guru Gorkrishna Das Baba Number one. Never make any disciple. Never associate with materialistic people. Never go to Calcutta. Never go to Calcutta. And Saratheta Gupta used to say, I followed all these three instructions perfectly. And devotees used to think really and all. You know, he had thousands of disciples. And he was associating with all aristocratic people of the society. And he is preaching headquarters in Calcutta. Completely opposite. That's why you should not only follow the words of the order. We have to know the spirit of the order. He used to say, I never made any disciple. They are not my disciples. They are the representative of my Guru Maharaj. When any disciple used to offer obeisances to Saraswati Thakur Prabhupada used to say, I am your servant. That's why he did not have any disciple. He did not associate with the aristocratic people, materialistic people. Why? He said association means taking. He said, I never took anything from anybody. I only gave Ka consciousness. He said, I never went to Calcutta. I always. Which is Bhaikunta transcendental to any place of this material world that is called first class disciple. A poem glorifying and in that poem he wrote the purpose desire mission of Srila Bhakti Prabhupada was to eradicate impersonalism Mayabad from this world opposite Dhanta. Dhanta Harine Pranam Mantra of Saharajdi Thakur explains that he was like a lion to eradicate the opposite Dhantas in this world. So he mentioned that point in his poem glorifying Srira Saraswat Prabhupada. And when Saraswatragur saw that poem, he said oh, Abhaya understood my heart. He understood perfectly my mission. And he told instructed the publisher that whatever he writes, publish it. No need to check. And he also understood the desire of his spiritual master. Because he knew the purpose of Saraswati Thakur is to spread Ka consciousness in the western world in English speaking language. That's why order of the Guru is very very important. Srila Prabhupada was ordered to preach in the western world. That's why Srila Prabhupada attempted to preach in India. But he did not get any success. Because his mission is to preach in the western world. Preaching is important. But we have to preach under the guidance and order of the spiritual master. So in order to become good disciple, you have to know the symptoms of bad disciple. So quickly. We'll go through six kinds of inferior disciples. There are six kind of Sebaka. Adhama means inferior disciples means fickle and unsteady like a bee. Be like disciple. Bee moves from one flower to another. Wherever is honey, he moves around. So some disciples are like that. They move around. They are very very fickle.
They are not steady.
Second is bano. Bano means arrow. There is one category of disciple. They are very expert to argue with the spiritual master. Arguing with the spiritual master is a great offense. Whoever will argue with the spiritual master, his life will be in big problem. Once Guru Maharaj was telling. Even if you know that Guru Maharaj, whatever is telling is not right, you have to accept it. So when someone argues and protest that like arrow piercing the heart of the spiritual master, they are known as Bano disciple. Instead of piercing the arrow through Maya, they pierce the arrow through the heart of the spiritual master. Third one is Jyoti. Shakah procrastinates means is astrologer disciple. He is ready to follow the order. Provided this planet should be in the seventh house. That planet should be the fifth house. That planet should be in the ninth house. Everything is perfect. Then he will execute the order perfect astrological situation does not exist. That's why this Kind of disciple Never execute the order of the spiritual master. Fourth category is Stabdi Bhuta. Lazy, lazy disciple. They always plan I'll do this, I'll do that. Never executes New year resolution, Mid year resolution, Monthly resolution. Life continues but no action. Disciple means active. Prabhupada said that Brahmachari should serve 36 hours a day. Then one Buddhi would say Prabhupada in a day only 24 hours said manage. Disciple means always engaged in devotional service. Once I went to Guru Maharaj to ask. In my four days I asked Guru Maharaj how many hours a Brahmachari do service. He was shocked to hear that question. Said how many hours? 247 minimum 49 hours every week. We cannot be lazy but inferior disciples are lazy by nature. And they say I am not able to do this. I am not qualified. Who is stopping you to do laziness?
Just do.
Just do it. Then fifth type. He is thinking why I should do. He is not doing. He is not doing. He is not doing. Why I should do? Kinkara means what can I do? Or Ki me Kaka means what should I do? What can I do? I cannot do anything. He is not doing. He is not doing. That is called Ki Mekaka disciple. And the Last1, the sixth one is means he is expert in delegation. He knows all the instructions of his guru and delegates everything. You do this, you do that. You do this, you do that. I don't need to do. You do. Super delegated. We should not delegate the responsibility. We should delegate authority. But we are expert in delegating the responsibility and keeping the authority. That is a symptom of inferior disciple. To conclude being a disciple requires three things. Surrender, service and inquiry. There are different levels of disciples. First class, second class, third class and also fourth class. One should try to strive to become a first class disciple. And a first class disciple can become a guru. In order to be a guru, first we have to become disciple. People are fired up to become guru in material world. But people are not interested to become disciples. We should all become guru as Chaitanya Mahapu wanted. And in the morning session Guru Maharaj emphasized so much to become guru. But qualification to be a guru is to become a first class disciple. When a devotee become first class disciple, automatically he is a guru. Thank you very much.
His Holiness Bhakti Prachar Prajaura Premanand.
Let us all thank His Holiness Bhakti Prachar Parajak Swami Maharaj with a big Ganga Ganga. Since the time Guru Maharaj had the stroke, he has been with him for every single day for so many years. And he's been taking such great care of Guru Maharaj. And at the same time he's been planning Guru Maharaj travel all over the world so that every single devotee across the globe gets Guru Maharaj association in some shape or form. So let's welcome His Grace Mahavarao Prabhu Gauranga.
Hare Krishna Jayaki Sri Krishna Chaitanya Prabhoni Chanandas so Hare Krishna I was requested to speak on the subject how to be always connected with one's spiritual master. Some senior devotees told me that because you are always with Guru Maharaj, so you could be the right person to speak on this topic. But this particular connection with the spiritual master always connected, it's not of staying in a close proximity with the Guru.
Actually.
Yes, we are there with Guru Maharaj for last so many years. But it is the spiritual connection of a disciple with a guru. And as we have heard read from all our scriptures that there are two ways how a disciple can always stay in connection with the spiritual master. One is Vapu and another one is Vani. Today we have also heard how we have read in all our scriptures that Vaani is always higher than Vapu because Vapu has got its own limitation. Vapu is valid as long as the guru stays alive physically on this planet.
Guru.
But Vani is eternal. If you are connected with your spiritual master through Vaani and try to serve him, serve the Vaani instruction of the spiritual master, then you are always eternally connected with with your spiritual master. There are many examples stories in all our Vedic scriptures how many of our Acharyas they have executed, served and associated with their spiritual master in the form of Vani. But since we have very limited time, I will just describe about two great personalities. How they have associated with their spiritual Master eternally by serving the instruction of their respective spiritual Master Time One is none other than Ac Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada.
Swami Srila Prabhupada Srila Prabhupada.
Bhaktishananda Saraswati Thakur in 1922 for the first time in Kolkata, right in the first meeting, Srila Bhakti Srinanda Saraswati Thakur ordered Srila Prabhupada to take this teaching of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to the Western countries and preach there. The next meeting took place 1925 and then in 1933 Srila Prabhupada took initiation from Srila Bhaktistar. Then in 1935, after two years of getting initiation again in Vrindavan and during this meeting Srila Bhakti Santha Saraswati Thakur told Srila Prabhupada to print books and distribute books. Then in 1936, December 1936, Srila Prabhupada he was in Mumbai and Bhakti Nanta Saraswati Thakur he was in Jagannath Puri and Srila Prabhupada he wrote to Bhaktistan Saraswati Thakur a letter. Srila Prabhupada wrote that My dear spiritual master Gurudev, you have many Sannyas disciples who are serving you directly and also they are staying with you along with many Brahmacharis, they are serving you directly and staying with you. This is more of Vapu, but me, I'm a Griyastha and I'm staying so far away and I'm not able to serve like how they serve you. On 13 December 1936, Srila Bhakti Srinanda Saraswati Thakur replied Srila Prabhupada.
December 1936.
Prabhupada received the reply and Bhakti Saraswakur said that I'm glad to receive your letter and I have noted your contents and he has mentioned I want you to go to the west and spread this teaching of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. If you do this, it will be very beneficial for you and all those who are helping you will also be equally benefited. Prabhupada received that reply on 13 December 1936 and two weeks later, 31 December 1936, Srila Bhaktisthana Saraswuddi Thakur left the planet to the spiritual world.
December.
So during the first meeting in 1922, Prabhupada received the same instruction from Bhakti Saraswijidakur two weeks before he left the planet Bhaktistan Saraswi Thakur gave the same instruction to Srila Prabhupada.
But he's done the Saraswati in the world.
Now. This is where Srila Prabhupada revealed a secret. Because most of us, we know that we have to serve the Vaani form of the spiritual master. Because we have heard many times Vaani is greater than Vapu. But there are a lot of details in that how to serve the Vani form of the spiritual master. So Srila Prabhupada revealed that he read the commentary of Srila Viswanath Chakravati Thakur to the bhagavad Gita verse 241. And Prabhupada says that I read that Srila Vishwanath Chakravajit Thakur describes that one should take the instruction of the spiritual master with life and soul and without expecting any personal benefit and personal loss. And Srila Prabhupada says, I tried in that same spirit and here I am. So this is the secret. Because we have heard many times we have to serve the spiritual Vani form of the spiritual master, the instruction of the spiritual master. And Srila Prabhupada said, the secret is you should consider the instruction of the spiritual master more valuable, as good as your life and soul or more than your life and soul. And without expecting anything personal or for any personal benefit or personal loss. And Srila Guru Maharaj, he followed this exactly. He knows this secret.
In the Ragasya Danda.
He applies this formula of how to serve the order of the spiritual master as it is as how Srila Viswana Chakravarti Thakur has described in his commentary exactly how Srila Prabhupada has applied in his life. 20th April 2011, when Guru Maharaj was in Tirupati at 6am in the morning he called me to come into his.
Room.
And he said, bring me a pen and paper, come right away. And he declared, dictated all the instruction that he received from Srila Prabhupada right from the time he met Srila Prabhupada till Srila Prabhupada left the planet.
Actually.
Every single instruction, from very simple instruction like bring me a rose every day which will increase my longevity and to a mega instruction like I give you the kingdom and you develop it, he never wrote down anywhere. Everything was right here. He just dictated everything right from his mind and he dictated everything in a chronological order. And there were more than 7, 62 different instruction of different categories. So if you really love your spiritual master, each and every word your spiritual master tells you goes right deep into your heart and they stay forever. And that's the proof how he still, till today he remembers all this instruction in detail, in a chronological order actually. And now we'll see how he considers all this instruction as his life and soul. In 1989 when he, he was attacked in Madrid airport, he almost lost his life. He was, you know, there was a profuse amount of blood was just flowing out from the neck where he had this cut. He took out his toppies wrapped around the neck and he was just sitting right there and praying to Srila Prabhupada that if you desire, so please allow me to stay longer because I have more, I need more time to fulfill all the instruction that you gave me in year 2000 when I was with Guru Maharaj in Navadip Mandal Parikrama. I'm just giving all this in a small, small summary because we run out of time. In one of the parikiramas, Guru Maharaj mentioned to his godbrothers that I wanted to stay in this planet as long as I can fulfill the instruction that Prabhupada gave me. And then in 2008 when he had this very devastating brain stem hemorrhage stroke, doctors said that he has less than 1% chance to survive. And even if he survives, he'll be a vegetable for life actually. And he was in coma for almost three weeks after Guru Maharaj recovered. We asked him couple of times, what were you like thinking or praying when you were in coma. He hesitated so much. But at one point after so much of, you know, requests, he revealed a little bit. He said that I was praying to Srila Prabhupada and Krishna to allow me to stay and to fulfill the instruction that Prabhupada gave me. In 2015, he had one of the severe lung infection and almost lost his life also. And when he was almost recovered, he told us, and also he told this publicly in a class that while he was in the ICU he saw the entire ICU was turning into a golden city. And he saw all his departed godbrothers and God sisters in that golden city. And they were calling him Jayapataka, come and join us. Come and join us. And Guru Maharaj replied that I still have a lot more instruction that Prabhupada gave me that I need to complete them. So I will join you all later. We asked Guru Maharaj, was it a dream? We asked Guru Maharaj, was it a dream? He said no, because I was almost on the verge of leaving my body and I saw a different. It was a different whole dimension which I saw. And then again in 2016, in February, he had another severe lung infection. And then again in 2018 when he went for his dual transplantation, he was almost leaving his body. Just one month before that, he had a dream of Srila Prabhupada and Bhaktishnanda Saraswati Thakur together took him by hand to Srila Bhaktisthanda Saraswati Thakur and appreciated all the service that he was doing. Guru Maharaj said that in that dream I practice literally so Prabhupada and Bhakti Chanthi Thakur. And that association was so intense, my body was trembling. All this in the dream. Last year, exactly one year ago, exactly one year ago, when he arrived in Vrindavan for the safari, he had another severe health crisis.
This.
He had another severe lung infection and also kidney failure. And the. I mean he was almost in the verge of leaving the body as well. And as usual, whenever he went through all this very severe health crisis, these different near death experience episodes, we always consulted different, different astrologers. All these astrologers had one thing in common. They said that this person has left his body long time ago. He is staying in this planet with extended time period. And the reason for this is because he's holding on to his life to fulfill some of the noble mission of his Guru. When we shared this with Guru Maharaj, he was lying in the hospital bed. And when we shared this with Guru Maharaj, he was quiet for a minute or two actually. Then he said, yes, I am holding on to my life because I wanted to fulfill all the instruction that Srila Prabhupada gave me as much as possible, actually. So this is what you call taking the instruction of spiritual master more than your life and soul. You cannot have any better proof. You cannot have any better example than this which you can observe literally now happening, now life. So if we try to go by the same spirit of how Srila Prabhupada applied following the commentary of Bhakti as Srila Vishwanath Chakravadi Thakur and how Guru Maharaj is applying the same spirit in his life, then we can always stay connected with our spiritual master. Once we were flying with Guru Maharaj from Bombay to Kolkata on Jet Airways flight. I think this was in July 2016.
July 2016.
So I asked Guru Maharaj, Guru Maharaj, you had always mentioned that sometimes when there is some difficult situation, you pray to Radha Madhav and you also pray to Srila Prabhupada. So how do you pray? How do you communicate with them? He said that Prabhupada instructed me not to tell anyone. And I said, well, at least you tell us. At least we can, you know, tell me. At least we can see how we can apply the same in our life. He said that yes, I do pray to Srila Prabhupada and Radha Madhav whenever I have to ask them something which, you know, if difficult for me to even understand or solve. Can you say that whatever message that I need to receive, that resonates in my heart and that message will grow stronger and stronger. It can be something which I prayed for or it can be also opposite to what I prayed for. Okay, since we are running out of time, I'll just take three minutes. Our next speaker is waiting. A very stalwart devotee. So this is the formula. How Srila Prabhupada and Guru Maharaj, they have applied this formula of taking the instruction of spiritual master as one's life and soul and trying to execute the order of the spiritual master without expecting for any personal gain and loss. Maharaj ended his class with the different categories of bad disciples.
Different category of bad.
I will also describe something similar. How different, different disciples they perceive and they execute the instruction of the spiritual master in a very concise format. I did a study, a small study of different, different disciples including myself. How we try to perceive the instruction of spiritual master and apply that or execute that. I have seen many different categories of disciples approaching Guru Maharaj for instructions. This study also involves some disciples of Srila Prabhupada and disciples of other people. Some disciples, they receive instruction from Guru Maharaj or spiritual masters but they just follow what is favorable to them and ignore what is unfavorable to them. This is one category. We can go on giving more details but we don't have time. Another category is the pre booking, pre book their instruction Diwani.
Actually.
Like how they pre book your meals. In the flight they approach the spiritual master and tells the spiritual master what they like to do actually. And then they ask for blessings and then they go and tell others that Guru Maharaj gave me an instruction to do this. And then there is another one. How when I mean after receiving the instruction, they misuse the instruction. There is another category that after receiving the Instruction, they don't have faith on that that instruction will work. So they always stay in limbo thinking whether this will work or not, whether I should do it or not. And then there is another one. The other category is that they try to follow the instructions superficially just to impress other devotees, but behind the scenes they just do what they like to do. And there is another category. Even after receiving the instruction, many, many times they just don't do anything because they don't know the value of the instruction. And the worst is going against the instruction. So don't fall into any of these categories. The only category the disciples should follow is the life and soul category. If you try to implement this life and soul category by keeping Guru Maharaj Srila Prabhupada as the perfect example, then you can always stay in touch with your spiritual master spiritually. So before concluding the speech, I'll just tell you one small story which takes a 30 seconds. Once in one of the morning walk Srila Prabhupada had in Los Angeles in 1973, Los Angeles, Bhaktadawn asked Srila Prabhupada, Srila Prabhupada, what will happen? How should we ask you some questions after you leave this planet? Srila Prabhupada said, all the replies answers are there in my books. Then Bhaktadan asked, but still Prabhupada, what if some very complicated question arises? Will you guide us through our heart like how Paramatma guides the Jivatmas? Prabhupada said, yes, provided if you are pure enough. I end my speech here. Thank you very much Hare Krishna.
Thank you Anmani Prabhu His Grace Mahavara Prabhu Ki. Thank you Mahavara Prabhu. The next speaker, as Mahavara Prabhu himself said, it's another prolific speaker, a great devotee, Hargre Shanti Rupa Mataji. Hargre Shanti Rupam Mataji is a senior devotee of His Holiness Jayapatak Swami Guru Maharaj, not only as a devotee, she's also a doctor. So she serves other devotees and people across the world through her service and spirituality as well as through the medical profession. She along with her Prabhu His Grace Tattva with Prabhu have been creating a massive army for Gurmaraj in Malaysia. And they have been mentors for many many devotees. So let's welcome Hargres Shanti Rupamata Ji with a loud Gauranga Gauranga Hargre Shanti Rupa Mada Ji His Holiness Jayapatak Swami Guru Maharajan Miga Senior Shishar Ghalil Purvar Our His Grace Ganga Ganga.
Hare Krishna so before I start, I just like to inform that I'm going to speak in Tamil for the benefit of Tamil speaking crowd here. But before we begin, I want to know if there is anybody who totally does not understand English Tamil. A lot of people.
I thought I'll avoid the translation.
Okay.
Namam Vishnu Padaya Krishna Prada.
Jayasri Krishna Chaitanya Prabhunatyananda Shri Advaida Gadadhar Shiva Sadi Gaura Bhakta Vrinda Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare Mukam Karoti Vachalam Fungun Langaya Tegirim Yat Kripa Tamaham Vandeshri Gurudina Tarinam Paramanandamadhavam Sri Chaitanya Ishwaram Vanchakal Pataroviya Shakrapasandu Bayevacha Patitanam Pavanebio Vaishnavah Sangam Baitamilartha Madurai Yandri Madurai.
Madurai is known for developing Tamil by keeping the Sangha. So the same thing the organizers has now glorified by keeping the Sangha to develop the Bhakta Association. This Sangha is transcending language and this is actually done transcending all Upadis Namodiya.
Shrimad Bhagavad.
In the spiritual literature, especially in Rmad Bhagavatam it is telling how it is difficult how we get different bodies and we get the human body and how it is difficult to develop this human body. All the changes are telling again and again. Near Madurai we have Paramudra Chole. There we have the temple of Lord Muruga. Krishna tells in Bhagavad Gita that he is the Senadipathy a Kartikeya. And he asks Avayar a question which is the rare gift to attain. And therefore for that question Avayar is answering the very difficult thing to attain is a human birth. And even more difficult is to attain a human human birth. That is that does not have any bodily difficulties. So when we attain such a difficult body human body, what should we have to do? Our spiritual it reaches guides us to ask questions. So we have two questions. We have to ask the questions such as who we are, who whom has created, who has created this material world and what is the relationship between us. Such questions has been to be asked. Bhagavad Gita teaches the first lesson that is that we are not this body. But to follow this instruction is a very, very, very difficult try. Because during this time we always identify ourselves with our body.
Aaan Pen Panakaran Yerai Padithavan Padikadavan Adayum Tadi, non Indian, non American.
So we identify ourselves as male, female, rich, poor, literate and illiterate. And more than that, we also identify ourselves as different to belonging to different nations.
So.
So in such way this identification related to our body has become very deep within us. If we have to overcome this, we need an Acharya. Acharya has to teach us how to overcome from this. It is like educating. It is like reading, selecting some subjects and reading for such training ourselves as to become a doctors, engineers, we have to go to that college and read such things and train ourselves to become such a professions. Similarly, there are so many art forms like dance, music, instruments. There are so many things which where also we need a teacher to teach us the specific art. So if we need a teacher for even for such mundane things, then for the spiritual things we need, definitely we need. So whoever has taken a human birth, a spiritual master is a very essential person. So there are two things in this world which move and which do not move. Such as living things and non living things. If we have to differentiate between both the things, we have to understand that whoever is having consciousness, they are living and whoever is not having the consciousness that is a non living thing in the owner.
Paramatma Paruman.
Whoever is having the consciousness, the Lord has given us a small independence. We are going to decide how we are using that independence in the Sudanderathai Nam. So in this independence we are going to decide whether we are going to surrender to spiritual master or not. If we have decided not to surrender to spiritual master, then our life is always to mundane things. That is a meaningless life. So in such way if we have gain knowledge, a spiritual master is very essential for us. From today morning we have been hearing how a master, spiritual master should be, how a disciple should be. We have heard a lot. Today morning His Holiness Jayataka Swami Maharaj, he told that everyone could become a guru. And this is revolutionary. So just now Prabhu told us if we have to become a good guru, then we have to become a good disciple.
Yanakamun Pesi.
Mahavara Prabhu also told us how a good disciple should be.
Brahma Madhava Gaudiya Vaishnava Sampradaya in the Nanga Sampradaya Kalila Sri Sampradaya Brahma Sampradaya, Rudra Sampradaya, Vishnu Sampradaya.
So there are four sampradayas, Brahma Sampradaya, Rudra Sampradaya, Sri Sampradaya. And these are the authorized sampratayas.
In.
The Guru Cedar Parambaraik, Meghamukyatuam Alikum or Sampradayam Yadenral in the Brahma Madhva Gaudiya Vaishnava Samprata.
Of all the sampradayas nowadays, what we see is who gives the importance to spiritual master is our Sampradaya. That's Brahma Gaudiya Vaishnava Sampradaya. So once upon a time in Malaysia, a Rathyatra happened. It was traveling to the main driver road. Hundreds of devotees coming along the chariot. At that time, His Holiness came in a vehicle. At the time, everybody those were there. Hundreds of devotees were there. And when Maharaj came, they left the rope and they immediately they fell flat.
On Maharaj lotus feet upper there were a bhaktar allada.
So at that time a politician has came. And he is not a devotee. He was just that person. He got goosebumps as the procession reached its destination. We arranged a program like this. And that person, the politician, he also came for giving a speech. And he expressed his astonishment expressively. He is a huge person. And he told that he has never seen such a reception given by the disciples to a spiritual master. So we have to understand, being in this sampradaya, we have to understand how much importance we have to give to the spiritual master Mahavarah Prabhu. Mahavara Prabhu explicitly explained us how we can do vapu and Vanu Siva. So many persons asked me this question. A spiritual master, he's always coming to our place. But all of us do not get the opportunity to do some vapu seva. So so many persons get disappointed upon.
The Lamb Mahavarah in the Guru.
At the time, we tell them Vapu Seva more than, even more than Vapu Seva is following the instructions of the spiritual master. That is the Vani Seva. Mahabhara Prabhu explicitly explained about Vani Seva with so many examples. But he himself, he told something one.
Time.
Guru Bhakti ay Adakya veendum enra layapadi Saiya vendum.
He told that we have to compare our devotion towards the spiritual master to somebody else. It is actually immeasurable. But still we have to measure that. So if we have to measure something like that, we have a devotee that is not from our Sampradaya. A devotee from Sri Sampradaya Avartan Kurathalwar. His Vapuseva is immortal immeasurable. He respected his spiritual master more than the Lord himself. So those who are in Madhuram, Madurai, Srirangam is very near to us.
In.
What he does is whenever the Lord comes on a procession, he does circumambulation. Kuratarwar does the circumambulation will not come out. He will not come out to take darshan for the daytime. So Ramanajacharya will come for taking darshan of the day to day. But Kuratalvar he will not come. So once Raman. So Kuratavar replied that this is a service I am offering to my Lord. My spiritual master is my Lord.
Guru Vai Perumanuku Melaga Madhira.
So so many times Kuratar has respected the spiritual master more than the Lord. Him he actually he sacrificed his own life to save Ramanujacharya. So Ramanujacharya knows this heart of Kuratarwa. But he once he said, you go to Sri Ranganatha and ask a question. You ask Ranganathar whether you go to the lotus. You will attain the lotus feet of the Lord. Told I don't have any interest in such a thing. It is not necessary for me. Why should I ask such question to him? Sent him telling that I want to know the answer. So you please go and ask the question. So he also went to the Lord and he asked the question. The Lord also replied that certainly you would attain my lotus feet. So Kuratavar also came back and he was doing his continuing his own work as if nothing has happened. So when Ramanujacharya saw him, he asked whether he asked the question or not. He was so interested in that. Replied yes, I asked the question and he was not so interested. But Ramanujacharya was so interested and he was asking what happened? What did the Lord told? Was not so interested and he was indifferently telling yes. The Lord told that leaving this body I'll attain the spiritual abode. Ramanujacharya was so happy hearing this. He was so ecstatic and he was running and dancing. There was astonished by this. I am the one who is going, why are you dancing? So at that time Ramanajacharya replied.
You.
Are my disciple Guru. I'm your spiritual master. While you are going, I will not go. Why should I not go? So it is a very different level. Generally in Tamil detail vera level. So it is of a very different level. How the spiritual master how this served through Vani seva vapu seva by a devotee.
I'm not sure how many minutes more I have. So anyway, Guru Shastra Ivatray nam Adipaday Sadhu Guru Shastra iva tray nam Adipadayaga Kunda Vendu.
So the very important thing in ISKCON International Society for Krishna Consciousness is we have to choose a guru based on Guru Sadhu and Shastra. So we should not take just as if everybody is taking. So let me also take. We should not do like that after choosing a guru spiritual master, we should be very faithful to that spiritual master. What next we have to understand is necessarily all these initiated devotees. What we have to understand is the very important thing we have to understand is that for everybody at all times, Srila Prabhupada is our Shiksha Guru Nam.
Yep.
So along with being faithful to the spiritual master, we should also be faithful to his God. The meaning is we should be very faithful to Srila Prabhupada.
Bhakti Niral.
We should always be under the shelter of Iskcon and then we can consider ourselves to be safe. So if we are in that circumstances, then our spiritual life would be very.
Easily taken by in the Guru Nishta.
So the very important thing is this to be have the Guru Nishta that is the faith towards the Guru.
Subichamaga Yirukum.
So if we practice this, we'll get all auspiciousness.
Nandri Vanakam.
Thank you.
Hare Krishna. It was so sweet to hear the wonderful Tamil by Mat. Mataji has lived maybe for 40, 50 years in Malaysia. But yet to understand and you know, continue sometimes I've seen Sri Lankan Tamil is so because they've been not corrupted by the locals Tamil for a long time. So I think Mataji simply wonderful.
You know, I just.
The way you presented, it looked like a perfect politician that presented, but you gave real philosophy. Sorry about it. But just your voice, your delivery was just amazing. I just wanted to add a few things. I worked with Matji on various forums. But you know, she's an amazing person really. I have to say the first time I I'm hearing you here. Mataji is a very early member of ISKCON in Malaysia. She's one of the leaders of ISKCON in Malaysia. And Mataji's husband is great Tattva with Prabhu. Both husband and wife are doctors. They have their own clinic. They are Also special doctors for Guru Maharaj. So they have brought up beautiful children a very Krishna conscious way. And Mataji is an expert in everything. The bio says she's good in cooking, counseling, devotees, deity making, preaching, training, leadership. Dr. Wow, this goes on and on. Mataji, thank you very much. I think you know, and she's also the Director of Women and Children Welfare in the Jagannath Mandir. And I think Simesha probably is so proud of all the Malaysians here today. Thank you for giving us Mahavarah Prabhu also. Thank you very much, Mataji. And thank you Mahavara Prabhu. Without taking too much time, I would like the devotee to come and introduce His Holiness Bhakti Vinod Maharaj. But I have to say that it's been a great session and I've been seeing actually a lot of people taking notes. How many of you are taking notes? Can I see stand up. Those who are taking notes just glued to your paper, writing notes. I was telling we have to give you a special gift. Maybe we should have a quiz.
In.
Both notes, you know, so taking notes is so nice. I. I think you are really taking the Guru Agna to heart. Thank you very, very much, Hare Krishna. I would leave the MC to take care of his own as Bhakti Vinod Swami Maharaj.
Thank you Prabhu. Thank you Mataji for the great speech. Our next speaker is His Holiness Bhakti Vinod Swami Maharaj. Let's give a huge Gauranga to welcome Gauranga. So Maharaj has been in ISKCON since 1980. He was initiated in 1980 and he got Sanya's initiation in 2009 as part of Guru Maharaj's 60th Vyasa Puja celebrations. Maharaj has been a deputy GBC. He's been as part of the SPD outreach chair and the Chairman of the South India Divisional Council. And he is very actively involved in temple constructions and developments, especially in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. And he also serves in South India as a Zonal secretary along with His Holiness Jayapataka, Swami Maharaj and Guru Maharaj and His Holiness Manaswami Maharaj. So let's welcome His Holiness Bhakti, not Swami Maharaj, His Holiness Bhakti, Swami Maharaj, Guru Maharaj, Sanyasa Sashir Galil Initiation, diksha initiation. Our 10 India, South India, then India Mandala Talevaragum, Our Koval.
Prabhonitya Nanda Shi Advaita Gadadhar Shivasadi Goda Bhaktavrinda. Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Ram Ram Ram Hare Hare Haribol Hare Krishna. Can you show the presentation? Oh yeah. So I've got very less time. I have just been told you have only 20 minutes, 25 minutes. And within that translation also has to occur. So I'll try my best to crunch this whole important topic within a short.
Time.
But.
It will become too long. So Kadasili summarization, Shankrishan Gora Prabhupada. Few Tamil check ins will be there in the English. Okay, so this is the important topic which I do as a big workshop. But I'm trying to take some important points from that. Nikkikalambra. His Holiness Jaipataka, Swami Maharaj, Guru Maharaj was telling about the importance of reading Prabhupada's books. So I want you to see carefully. I am just going to make some effort to show you from my own experience. I also work with the BBT and produce Prabhupada's books in Malayalam language for many, many years. I love Prabhupada's books. I read them, I print them, publish them, distribute them, study them, teach them. We try to do all these things. My understanding is that we are having Sankirtan governance of the books by the books for the books of Prabhupada. Those who know, if you have studied in your younger days in school, you know democracy is defined as of the people, by the people for other people in our society. Actually books are so paramount importance and Prabhupada himself has said that many times. So I'm just going to give you a quick review and show you that there are many things in this whole thing about Prabhupada's books. And some of the these things I want to touch upon. That is why do we read Prabhupada's books? How to read, what happens if you don't read and how we should actually affirm reading principle. These are some of the things that I'll try to do shortly. Why do we read Prabhupada's books? Maybe some of you can quickly tell me why are you reading Prabhupada's books? How many of you are reading Prabhupada's books regularly? Hare Krishna, why do you read Prabhupada's books regularly? Why do you read Prabhupada's book? Yeah. If you want to go to the spiritual world, you must read his book. Very good.
What else?
Authentic. They are authentic. They are as it is. And therefore you should read Scream. I Want to know what Krishna wants me to do?
Great.
Yes.
We all have all these reasons. Prabhupada specifically. And I want you to tell an instance. A disciple of Prabhupada came to Prabhupada sitting on the table like you see in that picture and came and told him, Prabhupada Bhakti Vinod Thakur is my number one favorite author. He came and told Prabhupada and Prabhupada just looked at him from behind his glass like this and just kept doing what he's doing. Then he went talking and again he said, prabhupada, I want to tell you that Bhaktino Thakkur's books I like very much. He is my favorite author. Prabhupada took his specs and kept down and looked at him and said, Bhaktivino Thakur is your second favorite author. This you'll read in the. You know, Satsuru Maharaj's Prabhupada Nectar. Prabhupada didn't tell him anything more. He told him Bhaktiuna Thakur is your second favorite author. He didn't have to explain who is the first one and all. That is the extent to which Prabhupada made a comment on reading his books. What does that mean? Don't have to read Bhaktiyana Thakur's books. I have explained everything in my books about Bhakti and Otagore. First read my book. First you read my book. That much importance he gave to his books. Actually the most important thing is because he asked us to do so. We should read because he asked us to do. He is the just. I heard Shanti Rupamtaji explaining how Prabhupada is a Siksha Guru. I want to add to that and said Prabhupada called himself the founder Acharya. He insisted that you write my name there under Inskwan as founder Acharya International Society for KA Consciousness Founding Foundational Guru. Foundational Siksha Guru. He gave the teachings, he gave the books, he gave the practice, he gave the institution. He gave the whole idea of the absolute truth and how to approach how to get to the absolute truth.
Krishna.
How to get love of Krishna. Everything he gave. So he's like the foundational Siksha Guru. And if you want to become spiritually oriented, get Krishna. Bhakti, go back to Goddard. Like many of you said, you must read Prabhupada's books. Must read.
Okay.
So there are many reasons people give. Whenever I Ask them. They said in the Chaitanya Chaitamrata it is mentioned there that Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is saying that this material world is a deadly fort. It is not possible to get out of this prison. Therefore, Krishna takes mercy on conditioned souls and he gives us Shastra. That is the way to get out by reading Shastra. Sometimes he is giving us Shastran Takrit Vedavid Evachaham. And he himself comes and speaks Bhagavad Gita because he wants to help you to get out. That is the reason why we should read Prabhupada's books in modern times, in the present age. That is explained beautifully by Prabhupada according to time, place and circumstance. So that's another reason why we should read. I'll move ahead. Why you should read Quote from Prabhupada. How can I please you? A disciple asked. Prabhupada said, you may please me the most by reading my books following the instructions therein. Reading. Reading books does not stop with reading. Reading means you should also follow what you read. We read for that. Here is another quote with these examinations. Bhakti Vaibhava Bhakti Shastri Bhakti Sarabho Ma Bhaktivedanta. I wish to encourage all my disciples to very carefully learn this philosophy of Ka Consciousness. Because there is so many preachers who will be required to bring this message to all of the corners of the earth. This morning we saw Guru Maharaj mentioning that Kone ko nime all corners of the earth. Prabhupada saying, you must therefore learn. If you want to learn Ka Consciousness philosophy, you should read from Prabhupada's books. I am the next one. I am stressing this point that all of my students shall be very much conversant with the philosophy of Ka Consciousness and that they should read our books very diligently at least one or two hours daily and try to understand the subject matter from varieties of angles. How many hours daily? Two hours daily?
Yeah.
One hour, two hours minimum. Here's another very interesting quote. If you want to stay in Ka Consciousness, you will have to develop firm faith in Guru and Shastra. Therefore, you must study my books very Scrutinizingly, follow the four regulated principles very strictly and chant 16 rounds daily avoiding the 10 offenses. Don't take this book movement as something cheap. It's meant for serious people. And serious people read Prabhupada's books. Very important to know. So Prabhupada himself said something about his own books. One of the most interesting quote of his is the one, the last. Do you know that I read my books every day? Have you heard about this? Prabhupada is saying he reads his books every day. Do you know I read my books every day. I learn something new every time I read. Do you know why? Because I did not write these books. Every time I sat down to write, Krishna appeared and dictated to me what to write. So I am not writing. Krishna is writing. Conversation with Tamal, Krishna Goswami and another devotee. Can you believe this? He said I did not write. Krishna wrote in another place. He said he sat on my shoulder. Krishna sat on my shoulder and dictated to me. I wrote here. You can see this quote. Krishna is perfect. He said here on top. Sometimes I become surprised how I have written this. Although I am the writer, still sometimes I am surprised how these things have written come such vivid description. Where is such literature? Throughout the whole world. It is all Krishna's mercy. Every line is perfect. Prabhupada it looks like is praising his own book. He is the author. Will any author speak good about his own books like this? Why? Because he's saying I did not write it and therefore I will read it and I will glorify it. But on the page you will see Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada author written on every. Isn't this amazing? It's very amazing. Comment Prabhupada commenting on his own book. And here Prabhupada is saying Guru Das watch Srila Prabhupada laughing while reading his Krishna book. Guru Das Prabhupada, you are laughing at your own books. Rla Prabhupada, I did not write these. Krishna wrote them. Krishna sat here. Prabhupada pointed to his shoulder. He wrote them. Srila Prabhupada the Ki. This is why you should read Prabhupada's books. This is Prabhupada talking about his own books. And he's not talking like a great proud author. He's very humble in making these statements. And he's reading his own books. This is a very important reason why you should read Prabhupada's books. What happens if you don't read Prabhupada's books? Question to you. What happens if you don't read Prabhupada's books? You must have experienced it if you are a serious reader. If you're not a series reader, of course you'll be wondering why Are you asking this question? I'm used to not reading Prabhupada's books. But I'm sure all of you are serious. What happens if you don't read Prabhupada's books? Raise your hand. You will fall down. You will come into the modes of ignorance.
What else?
Nobody wants answer these questions.
Questions.
You will become sentimental. I mean, you're already mental. You'll become sentimental. Next, you said something. You will simply forget Krishna. Yeah. Very easily we will deviate. Yeah. So many crazy things will happen to you. We will be manipulated by somebody else.
Yes.
You can't go to Goloka. See. My God. Yeah. This is a quote from Chaitanya. Men become strong and stout by eating sufficient grains. But the devotee who simply eats ordinary grains but does not taste the transcendental pastimes of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Krishna gradually becomes weak and falls down from the transcendental position. However, if one drinks but a drop of the nectar of Krishna's pastimes, his body and mind begin to bloom and he begins to laugh, sing and dance. Who wants to laugh, sing and dance? Then you must read Prabhupada's books. That's what's mentioned here. If you only eat prasadam every day, it's not good enough. It's mentioning here. It's very clearly. Mentioning here is not enough. It is not good enough. You must. If you eat one drop, drink one drop of this books of Prabhupada, you will become.
So happy.
You'll start dancing and chanting. How many of you have experienced this? Yeah. Plenty of you have experienced that. Who will not do it? Foolish. Look at the purport Prabhupada gives to that very short purport. Very powerful. All the devotees connected with the Krishna Consciousness movement must read all the books that have been translated. The Chaitanya Charta Ambush, Bhagavatam, Bhagavad Gita and others. Otherwise, after some time, they will simply.
Eat.
Sleep and fall down from their position. Thus, they will miss the opportunity to attain an eternal blissful life of transcendental pleasure. Full stop. That's all. Purport. Two sentences. You'll simply eat, sleep and fall down if you don't read Prabhupada's books. Sorry, I'm speaking so many negative things to you. But this is all spoken by Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Along with the very positive things, he also spoke about reading his books. So how many of you are taking A vow to read Prabhupada's books every day. Today here Nitai Guru Premanande. So important. So since the time is short, I'm just extracting some very important points, highlighting them to you. How to read Srila Prabhupada's books is something in everybody's mind. I mean, sometimes people come and ask how to read. Some of them have got PhD, some of them academically very good. How to read Prabhupada's books. I just tell them, simply read, open it and read. But there are some problems people have in reading Prabhupada's books. Here is an extract from different books of Prabhupada and conversations and lectures on how you should read. Picked up from the Internet, from Vani Media on three categories, frequency and the mood and the method. This is all from Prabhua's books in frequency. He's saying you must read again and again. You must read always. You must read as much as possible. You must read as soon as you get time. At least one hour daily, at least one or two hours daily, at least three hours a day, constantly, continuously, daily, in small installments, more and more, once, twice, thrice, one after another, over and over, reading 24 hours regularly, repeatedly. Da da, da da. All these are extracted. If you want to know about frequency, it's the limit. You said 24 hours a day you can read. Then you look at the mood in which you read. This is all from Prabhupada's books, conversations and lectures as it is spoken by Krishna adeptly, attentively, carefully, critically, deeply, devotedly, diligently, expertly, faithfully. You name it profusely, thoughtfully, with adherence, with the due care. All this extracted from Prabhupada's conversations. How to read his books, what mood he should have. Method. From all angles of vision, from different lights, of directions, from every point of view, from varieties of angles. Inspecting the subject matter for all angles of approach and savoring the new understandings. To understand. Understand the subject matter from different angles by discussing them with the cooperation of your godbrothers and sisters, with the help of other devotees, with the help of your senior godbrothers and sisters. Minutely, scientifically, scrutinizingly, step by step, cautiously, thoroughly. You want anything more? These are all the instructions of Prabhupada and how you should read his books. I don't think you need anything more. Everything is covered in this. That's what Prabhupada has mentioned. Here is a quote in my Books. The philosophy of Ka Consciousness is explained fully. So if there is anything which you do not understand, then you simply have to read again and again. By reading daily, the knowledge will be revealed to you. You may please me the most by reading my books and following the instructions therein. So many times people say it's very difficult to understand. Prabhupada is saying, chant your Japa nicely. Read again, again and again. You will understand. It's not that you don't understand Prabhupada's books. Therefore I don't read. What's the instruction given here? If you don't understand, read it again and again. You will understand. You will understand. This is very important to note. Sometimes people think that I don't understand. Go to the next one. I don't have this slide on my computer. By the way, I don't have this slide. I'll read it. Each and every Shloka should be very, very scrutinizingly. Understand. That should be the first business in the temples of all these books. We have got so many books. Simply if you make arrangement for selling, not for understanding then it will be simply materialistic. Both things must go on. Don't become just a great book distributor who doesn't read Prabhupada books. Prabhupada said, my only complaint about my disciples is they sell my books but don't read them. He made a complaint. So here is Prabhupada telling you must scrutinizingly read every Shloka. This is the business of all the temples, all the leaders and all the gurus. I normally tell it's not coming on the screen. Well, I don't see it. My slide is not coming on the screen. Unless you have some divine eyes, I'm not able to see the next one. So there's some hint on how to read. From my own experience, I tell devotees to just read through the books. Once you get the thrill of reading and getting to know overall what is there. And in the next round of reading you should study. What do you do to the newspaper and magazine? Do you study it? You read it. What do you do to your textbooks in your schools, in your colleges and everything that you have to do. Do you read it? You study it. Why? Because you have to write an exam. Now you understand why Prabhupada said you must write an exam. Bhakti Shastri, Bhakti Vaibhava. Why? What did he want you to do? Study it. So you study it and you note down some important realization.
Wow.
This is very good. And you note it down. This is a new thing I learnt. You note it down. You also write your realization about it. In this way you make your own notes. Unfortunately nowadays many people have got their notes published. So many devotees don't even read Prabhupada's book. Then read only the notes so that they can write the exam. But that's not the way Prabhupada wanted it. He wanted you to read his books first. You can make your own notes. Later if you want, you can check it with somebody else's notes. Read, make notes, write your realizations. You will be excited about it. There is like Prabhupada is saying Krishna has written them. If you read Prabhupada's books, you encounter and meet with Prabhupada in his books. You have his association. Then Prabhupada is saying you will meet Krishna page by page. That is the potential of these books. You can meet Krishna in the pages of the Bhagavatam. Prabhupada said there is a quote if you seriously read it. So these are all the things that I mentioned. The Prabhupada's books is not just an ordinary book. It's a Krishna conscious experience. You're going to experience Krishna in it. Written by a very pure devotee who's claiming I did not write the books. It's Krishna who wrote it.
Right?
So reading Prabhupada's books is not like reading any book. It's an experience. It's a Krishna conscious experience. You meet with Prabhupada. You have association of Prabhupada. You meet with Krishna. This is Prabhupada's words. So don't think that when he said read my books, it's like your academic. You know teacher telling you read, write the exam. It's not of that type of don't read also for the sake of writing the exam. Different types of reading. Next one. Different types of reading. Some people read because it's part of my sadhana to read. I have been told to read. I will read every day. Half an hour in the morning reading. Open the book. See Dadrasha Vacha Dharmakshetre Kurukshetre sama Veta. Half an hour over Sadhana over. Just like we do. Chanting also like that. Some people read for Sadhana only. Some people actually want to study. They want to know what is happening, what's mentioned inside here. Some people read only when they have to talk. Rayhar, today is Bhakti Vriksha. I am supposed to speak. I have to read something up somewhere. So I read whenever I have a program. I read whenever I have a program. Many of you are very silent and putting your head down because you read only when you are on the stage. For the sake of being on the stage. Preparation for a talk. Some read. Because I am so interested in. After chanting Japa, I sit down and read.
Read.
And I get so many wonderful realizations. I like that experience. I simply allocate time for reading and sit down and read and enjoy Prabhupada's books. I just love it. I don't want anything else. There may be other reasons you have. But like I told you, it's an experience. Please fall in love with reading Prabhupada's book. Books develop the taste the ruchi. Your life is safe. You just have to develop the taste for it. So what are the challenges to reading Prabhupada's books? Name some of them. What are the challenge? I don't have time. I don't have time. Somebody said yeah. What challenge do you have? Yes, Madhu. You also don't have time. Distraction. Plenty world of distractions. The social media. Somebody calls you up and you know, this is attractive. That is attractive. So many things.
Yeah.
Distractions. Very great challenge.
What else?
I am laziness. Oh, that can be dealt with. You start to read. You go to sleep. There's something in Prabhupada's books. It's a sleeping pill. You want to sleep. Go read Prabhupada's books.
Yeah.
No taste. I don't have taste. I said ruchi. It comes after indulging in Prabhupada's books for some time. Then only you get taste. You get taste for something which is bad and not good for your health and other things. Because you kept doing it. Similarly, if you keep reading Prabhupada's books, you will develop ruchi taste over a period of time. So no tasting is also possible to cure. It's not very difficult. If you have weak sadhana, you will not be excited about reading books. If you have a strong sadhana, you'll like reading books. And because you read books, you'll have a strong sadhana. It's a loop. Because you read nicely, deeply, you'll chant deeply. You'll do your sadhana very nicely. It's very close. Linked, right? Sometimes we need company. Nowadays you need a buddy. A reading buddy. Somebody also reads with you. And I think a lot of groups Online are reading together. Amazing. Many, many groups are reading together. That's very nice. So in this way we have many challenges. But I think the you should work with some affirmations. Affirm? Why do I read Prabhupada's books? What does it give me every day? Just like you have some Japa affirmations, you can also have reading affirmations by reading. What do I get? 1, 2, 3, 4. I've written some reasons from your own experience. If you affirm yourself every day with these affirmations then maybe you can put yourself to reading. Here is a quote to Prabhupada. I am requesting all of my students to read my books very seriously every day without fail. In this way, if your mind becomes absorbed at least one or two hours daily in the transcendental subject matter of Srimad Bhagavatam, Bhagavad Gita and other books, then very easily you will make your advancement in Krishna consciousness very simple. Very simple instruction. We can follow this, right? So I will close here. After giving you a little brief history about books. Book publishing, book reading and preaching and book distribution. I am going to recollect with you a history. Indian history, Mughal period. There is Babur, Humayun, Akbar, Jahangir. The rule of the Lodi dynasty started in 1451. Interesting history. That's when the Lodi dynasty started ruling Persian invasions. And then the Mughal rule starts with Babur in 1526. Babur everybody knows now in India. So at the location of the famous place 1526 means Lord Chaitanya was here at the time. From 1486 to 1534 is Lord Chaitanya's period. 8. Eight years before Lord Chaitanya left this planet, Babur had started ruling India. Lord Chaitanya was also present when the Mughals started ruling India. And then in between this is Lord Chaitanya's period 1486. He came then you'll see 1534. Lord Chaitanya disappeared at the time of Humayun. And I'm just recollecting some interesting history. Lord Chaitanya's disappearance. And then you have Jeeva Goswami, the second generation Jiva Goswami. His disciples, Srinivas, Acharya, Shamananda, Pandit Narottam and his disciples. He brought out an amazing thing. It's Jeevagu Swami took all the books. You know the great story by the King of Barampur. He brought it from Vrindavan to Bengal to Berampur. And Jeeva Goswami's assignment to his Disciples was this. So they brought it very carefully and they were given guards. They brought it on a bullock cart or something. They came all the way preserving the writings of all the Goswamis and everybody. They brought it very carefully. Our books has got a history. When you see Prabhupada's books spread all over the place, everywhere. Now it was very rare those days. There was no printing press, nothing. There was only one copy of it. And you had to sit and make copies of it by sitting and writing. Lord Chaitanya made copies of the Brahma Samhita which he found in South India, in Tiruvattar. He had it copied. There was no press at the time. So you can imagine the writings have to be preserved. Jeevagu Swami preserved them, brought it in a big cart with guards and everything provided by the king. And in Behrampur they relaxed because they thought, this is Bengal. Lord Chaitanya's place. We have crossed the border. But unfortunately, you know, the king of Barampur stole all the books. Because an astrologer told him that this cart that is coming is not like the other. It's the richest goods that you'll ever get. So he went and stole it. And then he found that full of some manuscripts and writings. What lousy wealth this is. But actually it was the richest thing. And there's a whole wonderful story about how Narottam visited the king and he took part in some Bhagavatam session. And he spoke there. And the king liked what he spoke. And then he. He asked him to come to the palace. And he heard Narutam crying in the night and praying to Krishna. Whatever happened to my books? What will I tell my Guru Jiva Goswami? How will I be able to answer him? What a huge loss. He was crying the whole night. And then he heard and said, oh, these are your books. Because he was a dacoit by night and a king in the daytime. A special profession he had. It's not that only those days it was there even these days it's happening. So he went to Narutam and said, don't worry. I think this is what.
This is your.
This is what you're looking for. And then Naruto became so excited that Krishna is protected. And then actually the king became Naradam's disciple. And then his whole kingdom became disciples of Naradam. A huge thing happened. And he distributed those books, copied them and distributed them. First book distribution happened. Then Nitai Guru Premanande distribution of these literatures, these wonderful teachings happened. That is the second generation. Then 300, 400 years pass. All sorts of apasampradayas come up in the name of Lord Chaitanya. And there is Bhakti Vinod Thakur. The British rule India, Struggle for freedom. Da da da da. So many things happening. And there is Bhaktivano Thakur who appears in the third generation, 1838 to 1914. Then you have his son Bhakti Siddhan. The Sarasiddhi Thakur who took the printing press and call it Brihat Mridanga and published and distributed books. And then came Bhaktivedanda. Swami Prabhupada took it to the other limit. He took it all over the world, world and distributed these books in so many languages. Nitai Guru Premanande. So much pains he took to write these books day and night. And then to preserve them, to publish them and you know, distribute them. So you have Bhagavad Gita Bhagavad all over the world in so many languages by the effort of Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. His desire is that you will read these books. They are not simply for distribution. They are not simply for publishing and making money. They are meant for bringing a revolution in the empire's lives of people. It's mentioned about Janata Giplavo. Yes. Even though there are some faults in it, it will have create a revolution. That's why we read, we teach, we distribute, we do everything with Prabhupada's books. And they are very, very important to us. So you are the next generation. And there are Prabhupada's disciples disappearing from this planet. And we should carry this legacy of publishing, distributing and making people read and appreciating it. Only if they do that, book distribution will happen. And if book distribution happened, there'll be book publishing. So reading, getting a taste for Prabhupada's books is very important because the potential is there. Prabhupada's books, like I said, are not ordinary. Prabhupada said anybody who even touches these books reads one letter, one word, his spiritual life will start. So please understand what it means when we say, can you change the slide? I have gone much ahead. Yeah. What it means when you say holding a book of Prabhupada in your hand, reading it, understanding it, talking about it to others, making them read it, distributing these books. This is the greatest human welfare that you can ever do. This is the greatest service that you can ever do to Bhaktivedanda. Swami Prabhupada and the entire Parampara. So this is what I wanted to tell you. The first generation, the first generation, the second generation and the third generation. Many of you are in the fourth generation. So I want this message to go deeply to all of you in the morning. His Holiness Jaipataka Swami Maharaj Gurudev was speaking about this very deeply and he wanted all of us to read, digest and share these wonderful books with everybody else. I will stop here because I think he needs to do a Tamil summary which is going to be very challenging. Hare Krishna. Thank you. It's exactly 6:45. You told me till 6:45. So Maharaj, we have cancelled the Tamil translation. We have cancelled it already. So we have the next agenda ready? No, we have another slot.
Yeah.
Okay.
Haribol. Thank you, Hare Krishna. Thank you very much. Maharaj. Thank you for being here with us and thank you for taking us through. And. And yes, we all have to read Srila Prabhupada's books. It's very important. And let's, as Maharaj said, get into a habit of reading and documenting what we read. Encourage each other in reading. Over to you for the next session. In the next 20 minutes or so we shall have Gurmaraj coming to be with us to make his address. But before that we have a nice session that will be introduced.
Hare Krishna, one big Gauranga for His Holiness Bhakti Vinod Swami Maharaj Gauranga. The next speaker is His Grace Eknath Prabhu. His Grace Eknath Prabhu has been serving His Holiness Jaipetaq Swami Guru Maharaj as a secretary for the past 26 years. He's been traveling with Guru Maharaj across the world and serving him. And he is currently the director of the Science Museum of the tovp. So let's welcome His Grace Eknath Prabhu the loud Gauranga. His Grace Eknath Prabhu. His Holiness Jaypatak Swami Guru Maharajan Tanipatta Sehlala Raga Iruvatar. Our Guru Maharaj Tovp Mayapur.
So first, before we start, I want all of all of you to stand. I want to see if he can hear you.
Our.
So you need to leave your hands. Stretch a little bit. Don't sit yet. Guru Ma said today he spoke about the importance of all of you taking step up. I have a test for you. So raise your right hand. If you can do this, you can do anything. Raise your right hand. Your left hand. Cross it, cross it. Grab it. Pull your two fingers. Down your two fingers down. Yes. Now move this finger. Move this finger. And now slowly put the two fingers up. If you can do this, you can be guru anything. So you can have a seat. So first of all, I'm very deep, deeply humble and honored to be here with all of you. Let me do something before I'm hearing a lot of noise. So when I came to Madurai for first time, it was in 2001. 2001. During the installation. During the installation.
Installation.
From that moment, His Grace Shankadari Prabhu. Prabhu has placed the Supreme Queen. Supreme Queen. Queen in Madurai. Queen. King. Queen. Supreme Queen Rani. Rani. Supreme Rani. He has been preaching very intensively. He's one of the pillars of our.
Movement in the mabel.
And we can see how wonderful this program is. Are you all enjoying? So under his guidance, instruction, supervision, support, he empowered His Grace. So now we have also Krishna Balaram came. And today we have the great blessings to have Guru Maharaj here open his heart and explain his vision to all of you.
To.
I also want to thank His Grace, His Holiness. Another great pillar. Another great pillar. How many of you are going to start reading more books after his class?
So.
And all the leaders of South India. I have been seeing all of you since the moment I joined. Many of you were temple presidents, regional secretaries. I can say that for the past 35, 40 years the South Indian leader has been creating a whole revolution. I remember when we went to Tirupati, Antirupati was collecting to open the temple only with books. We may have many difference in management, but all of us, we can agree one thing. That all our South Indian leaders, because of all of them, because of all of the South Indian leaders, because of their preaching, we're all here. So the quality of being grateful we should never forget. Actually, they brought us to Krishna consciousness. They brought us to the lotus feet of Guru Maharaj and many other gurus. They give us faith. That in itself is enough to be grateful for the rest of your life. So I'm very grateful to all of you. Actually, you all make Guru Maharaj very happy and proud. Okay, I want to start my presentation now. We talk about what? We talk about what? About what? What what? We talk about why. Now we're going to talk what is Guru? What is what is Guru? Why we should serve Guru. And now is how can you put there? So a group of many senior devotees.
From all over the world.
Most of them from South India. They came together and they worked for.
Many years.
Hand to hand with Guru Maharaj. On how to help him to fulfill his mission, his vision. And they create the global governance framework for JPS Jayapataka Swami Seva committee.
In the JPS Sevy Committee.
This part is very important because it's an integrated approach about devotee care, God brother's care and a driving force to fulfill Guru Mahara's vision. So we have our mission. You can read in Tamil, you can all read in English. So we save time.
Kutra.
No katai Savadilam.
Suya.
Bhakti Sangalai Mulumayaga Parambariyama.
We have our vision as well.
Disciples.
Compassion.
So who are the JPS SEBA committee? Actually when we started we were called JPS Executive Committee.
Jps.
We were called JPS Seba Committee. But Guru Masai no, he said should be Saba committee. Because I want all of you to serve my disciples. So who is the Seva committee?
In the JPS Seva committee we are.
Senior disciples that are dedicating to serve and assist Guru Mahaj in fulfilling Srila Prabhupada's mission ambition. We try to be focused on offering service.
Support.
All our Godbrothers, our community, our temples, our society. We are working in created a seamless coordination to fulfill Guru Maas instructions. And our focus is disciple care, community engagement and organizational effectiveness. But we are expanding. We have our organizational structure. We have our executive team. Executive team.
What team? Executive.
Advisory team, operational team. And between our organization we have different representatives of each of the teams in different teams. For example, our advisory team is formed by senior disciples from all over the world. They share multiple responsibilities. Most of them are sannyasis gurus. They are also temple presidents, honor supervisors, etc. And they provide an invaluable wisdom. For example, His Holiness Bhakti Purushatan Swami Maharaj part of the advisory team. And today we have the great honor that Balar and Govinda Prabhu accepted to also be part of the advisory team.
Accepted to be part of the team.
Executive team. Executive team.
Executive Team.
They oversee many responsibilities. They facilitate a small functioning. They provide direction. Direction. They provide funds. They deploy resources. A scheduled meeting provides updates to Guru Maharaj. Reports.
Reports.
Reports.
Repose.
Anyway, Reports Repose. They shall report to Guru Maharaj. So the executive team Executive. They have country and zonal coordinators. Country and zonal coordinators.
And the country.
Regular meetings with Guru Maharaj. They meet very often. If you don't meet once a week, you're out. They agree to make time, to give time. They function 24 7. And then we have the operational team. This is very important. Very important. They are the working force. We have a representative from the executive team. They are in charge of mobilizing resources and they implement the decisions. I hope it's not too technical. This is our. This is very important. Pay attention to this slide.
The. In the functional organization.
So we have a advisory team, executive team. We have reports, reports reporting periodic reporting progress. We have the working groups that have focus areas. We are country zonal representatives. So they all work together to assist Guru Maha she his mission. There is a constant communication within the three teams. How many teams? There are. One theme is advisory operation.
Alan.
Very nice. You're paying attention. I saw somebody sleeping on the back. So they work together. How many of you went and told Guru Maharaj, please give me an instruction. How many? Raise your hands? Only few. Only few told Guru Maha, give me an instruction. You can move it. And I continue standing. You can move it. I think you are not welcoming Guruma properly without chanting.
Ra.
Okay, all of you now raise your hands again. So please have a seat. He's calling.
Yes.
Yes. That's how we welcome our holinesses. So pay attention because we are talking about how.
How to serve Guru Maharaj.
So this is our teams members. I'm not going to read. You can read. For example, in that Viceroy we ask his grace in Keshwara Prabhuville. In the executive team we have Shivalava Prabhu and others. And in the operational team. Do you see names? Do you see names? I can't hear you. Somebody say yes and no. Do you see names? Operational thing that we are leaving it for you. How many want to help us to fulfill Srila Prabhupada's instructions and Guruma desires. You see all the Prabhua rising the hands and saying sorry Prabhu. I see more Matages and Prabhu. This means we have a lot of Mataji's preaching. So this is a system we have. It's very important. We have jps, E Care, gps.
Jps, E Care.
What is E Care? Is a central hub for communication, data management, Data management and global spiritual support.
Support.
It's all the high tech. Latest technology we're using to try to serve you. When I say we, I mean Guru Maharaj. Where is our office? Where is our office?
Very good.
Correct.
So this is to facilitate the body care worldwide while ensuring local engagement. The primary system is connecting disciples to Guru Maharaj guidance. The role is to make you closer with Guru Maharaj. But not only Guru Maharaj. God brothers like his Holiness and with Srila Prabhupada.
Prabhupada His Holiness is only Tabatru has.
Been together working for many years. Cooperating with Guru Maharaj in his zones. In his zone. He's such an amazing Sadhu. He's always there to serve. I tell you a little story. Sorry, I'm sideways little story. When we went to Rameshwaram we leave at 5am was very hot. We finished 6.30pm we finished 6.30pm I told Maharash, Maharash, come in the car with me. I came with the devotee Safari.
And.
Going back by bus with them. Maharashtra is such an amazing association. So when we find this kind of sadhus, we rise Our Hana will say okay. Having said that.
JSS.
We are creating a disciples network Because E Care is Gurumana providing care to you and JSS.
JSS is asked.
Supporting each other, inspiring each other. She was very working a lot in this project. Local and regional coordination to foster inspiration, cooperation, communication and we use all kind of instruments. We use all kind of instruments.
Instruments.
So this is us taking care of us. So what is our message? JPAC Care Represent Guru Maharaj Personal care for you. There is a table outside. There is a table outside. Please make sure you visit Guru Mahaj office Table has over hundred instructions. Some are easy, Some are very challenging. How many wants to help him And Prabhupada? You see Matajis Prus all the hands are up. Mataji's half quarter. How many want to help him? So this is a opportunity. GSS JSS focus on disciple supporting and cultivating each other. They cut my mind because I'm talking too much. They cut my mind and talking too much. I need to finish soon. So these two groups are focused on supporting Guru Maharaj. And Guru mahas spent over 30, 40 years. Every time he used to come with a contact notebook getting the data encourage the office to do something. So now we have a very robust system. We have a shared vision and mission. We have a constant reporting system. We have created a digital platform centralized database.
They were essential centralized.
So we have a. This is Guru Ma created this for.
You.
To support you, to help you and also so you can help Srila Prabhupada's mission and him. And we work in groups. We're going to have multiple groups. My translation is gone. We're going to have multiple groups to focus on different missions Ambitions of Guru Maharaj. We have regional care coordinators. We have local care coordinators. And this is the seven themes of over 70 Guru Maharaj desires heritage, education, infrastructure, publication, culture, community, pilgrimage, experience and outreach. So with that, we conclude our presentation. Let's give a big welcome to his colonists, Japata Kaspa, Swami Guru Maharaj. So please remember, go to the table of JPS office. JPS office table translation and make sure your details are correct. If they're not correct, we cannot contact you. Okay. Translation is not detailed. Not contact. Yeah. Let's give a big haribol to Guru.
Mah.
Swami Nithina.
Krishna.
Krishna.
Shimad.
So today you had Shravanam Kirtanam.
You are.
You are hearing that is Shravanam.
Different speakers were speaking at Kirtanam.
Different speakers were speaking that is Kirtanam.
So I want to reverse. So I want to hear from you.
Now we are going to reverse this. I want to hear from you. What are your questions?
Write them down here.
You can write them down. In the meanwhile, I'll speak a little.
Guru Maharaj, you have so many disciples.
Here.
That can you stay in south India for six months of the year so that we can all advance more rapidly? Gurumaraj Ninga.
Could you stay with us for six months in a year so that we could all advance nicely?
Nice question.
Nice question.
Nalla Kalbi.
You see, I was. I wanted to go to Tirupati.
You see, I was supposed to go to Tirupati.
My doctor said I had it on first. So tonight my doctor said.
That I have.
Drone. Drone, drone.
My doctor said that I have to go to Chennai first for a medical checkup.
My coming here is a big thing.
And coming here, it's a big thing. And we are glad to see so many devotees.
That way. Bangladesh, they have 50,000 devotees now in.
Bangladesh, they have 50,000 devoteeS. Bengal Assam, Tirupati, there are also hounds. They also have thousands, maybe 50,000. So then you have to talk to my secretaries. They gang up on me.
So they have the final word. My doctors, secretaries.
So you have to talk to my doctors, my secretaries. And they have to plan it. But if you do a lot of preaching, I will be very inspired to come here.
Of course, this is one part of south India.
Of course, this is one part of.
South India either Tenindhya, Nure, Pahudi.
Other parts of south India.
There are other parts. Parts of south India.
And there are other states I should go.
And there are other states where I.
Still need to go, you know, Matra, Manilanglu, Nangi, Pohavendi, rk.
Now, since last year, March, I have twice a week having dialysis.
Since last year, March, I have Been having dialysis three times a week.
In the dialysis of.
Here in Madurai. A good hospital. Good.
Here in Madurai they have a good hospital with a good dialysis machine. He said you can fly. So I feel flew to Kumbakonam, Trichy and then I drove to Madurai.
So maybe spend more time so maybe.
I may be able to come back and spend more time. Bangalore. They're telling me come to Bangalore.
Like that. Different people are saying different things.
Like that different people are saying different things.
I spend more time now in Myanmar.
I spend more time now in Mayapur.
You can send your video records how your preaching is going on.
You can send me video reports of how your preaching is going on.
One of the one lady Vaishnavi, she sent me a report how she's preaching to the deaf people.
One Vaishnavi, she sent me a report of how she is preaching to the deaf people. People, she learned the sign language.
Like that she preaches to them.
Like that she preaches to them.
So this shows there's so many opportunities to preach.
This shows that there are so many opportunities to preach.
Okay.
I only learn one sign language.
I have learned only one sign language.
The.
Krishna. Krishna playing the flute. Krishna playing the flute.
That's Krishna playing the flute.
Krishna.
So now some questions from you.
Yes. So now some questions. So this is a question from Krishna. Premi, Vishnupriya Devi Dasi, Hare Krishna. My humble obeisances at the lotus feet of our most dear Guru Maharaj. All glories unto you, all glories to Srila Prabhupada. My question is how to save ourselves from committing offense on thought level in this digital era where we are very well connected to each devotee just at the touch of a smartphone. How to ensure that we are always in the mood of serving the Vaishnavas. Even in our thoughts we should see the faults in ourselves and the good qualities of others.
I didn't understand exactly how this art forms make it difficult to avoid offenses.
I don't understand how exactly smartphones make it difficult to avoid offenses.
How do you have AI? He said program the phone Krishna consciousness.
Now we have AI. So we should program the phone to be Krishna consciousness. Okay, next question is from Trilokatma Murari Das. What are some practical tips and tricks to become a Paramahamsa in this life?
Take a mix of water and milk. Take all the milk.
Aham. Hamsa can take a mixture of water and milk and from that mixture it can take out the milk.
Means you take out mix of Maya and Krishna consciousness. Take out the Krishna. Just leave them like that.
So Paramahamsa means you take out the good and apply it in Ka consciousness and leave out the bad.
Paramahamsa. Abdin Sonaka Nala, Vishayangala Yadut Krishna. Sayalpaduti Kata Vishengla.
You gradually advance.
So the tip is that you gradually advance.
These are all steps to Prem.
These are all steps to Prema.
We have some faith. We hear from different advanced devotees.
Which means that we have some faith and we hear from advanced devotees.
You start to associate. Associate with advanced devotees.
We should desire to associate with advanced devotees. We should associate.
Then he started to write us.
Then we start to practice devotional service. We take instructions. Initiation. We take initiation.
We reach the stage Nirtha Nirti.
Then we reach the stage of Anarta Nivriti. So we go from Bhajana Kriya to Anarta Nivriti.
There are all kinds of weeds that grow along with our emotional creeper.
There are all kinds of weeds that grow along with the devotional creeper.
In the Bhakti Sedhi Sutri Naraya.
Lord Chaitanya mentioned some of them.
Lord Chaitanya mentioned some of them. Nishida Char.
I hate this Turon.
I hate this devotee. I love this devotee.
He gives me money.
He gives me money. She gives me problems. That is Jiva himself. Then there is Puja.
Puja Pratishta and Laba Pooja Pratisthe Labam.
I'm chanting Hare Krishna. I didn't get a smartphone yet.
I have been chanting Hare Krishna but I didn't get a smartphone yet.
We want some material Benedict for our chanting with love.
We want some material benefit for our chanting. That is Lab.
I want to take. I want to get worshiped.
I want to get worshipped. That is Pooja. The desire for Pratishta Kana Asa.
I want a position.
I want a position.
I want to be the temple president.
I want to be the temple president.
President.
That is Pratishta Asha.
Like this.
So like this there are many weeds.
We want to pull them out.
We want to pull them out. We want to water only the devotional creeper. Bhakti Lata Bhakti Sri.
Weeds are pulled out. We have Neshta.
So like this. When weeds are pulled out we come to the platform of Nishta fixed up.
Even at these stages you can bless someone and their faith in Krishna will increase.
Even at these stages you can bless someone and their faith in Krishna will increase. When you are Fixed up. Then you get a taste for devotional service. This comes when you chant and have good Sadhana.
Nalla, Jebichi, Nalla, Saadhanay, Panningana Varun.
Then he got attached to the devotional service.
Then you get attached to devotional service.
Then?
Then you come to Rati or Bhava. That is ecstatic love for Krishna.
Just stop before Prema.
It is just the step before Prema.
So like this Lord is how to keep on advancing.
So like this devotees have to keep on advancing.
When you have Rati or Bhava, that means you'll bless someone. They'll also feel ecstasy.
When you have Rati or Baba. When you bless someone, that means they will also feel ecstasy.
Andanilum, Parvasamarahal.
Advaita Gozard.
I heard one temple here called Nityananda Cairo.
I heard there is one temple here called Nithyananda Perumal. There is a temple here. I heard there's a temple here called Nithyananda Perumal.
They said some Avadut came from Bengal and stayed here.
They say that some Avadut from Bengal came and stayed here. Since then the temple is called Nithyananda Perumal Temple.
I met a man wearing a tie on his knee.
So it is Knee tie. Is the tie of the knee.
Knee tie on the knee.
It's a tie on the knee. Knee tie.
I asked what is this?
So I asked what is this?
He said this is my knee tie.
He said this is my knee tie.
Asana is the knee tie.
Every day.
Oh love. Chanting a lot.
There was a devotee who was chanting and who left Krishna consciousness.
He came back to Prabhada and he begged for forgiveness.
He came back to Srila Prabhupada and he begged for forgiveness. Srila Prabhupada accepted him back.
Why did you send him back? Why did you accept him back? It was nonsense.
So one devotee asked why did you accept him back? He was a nonsense.
Lord Nithyananda's mercy is unlimited.
Then he said, Lord Nithyananda's mercy is unlimited.
Many of you.
So in South India. Many of you.
Maybe.
Maybe.
I don't know.
In South India, many. Many of you may not know about Lord Nithyananda, Tenindial.
And Krishna.
So there is Krishna and Balaram. Lord Nithyananda is Balaram.
So Krishna Balaramandarama.
Footprint on oil.
Okay.
So we need to put a footprint in Nithyananda's temple.
Your papa.
Wrong.
You don't have any footprints.
But we don't have any footprints of Lord Nithyananda here.
I'll have to go back another time.
So I'll have to come back to install Lord Nithyananda's footprints.
Lord Nityananda, he was carrying out Lord Chaitanya giving honor and mercy.
So Lord Nithyananda took up Lord Chaitanya's order and he gives out unlimited mercy. So there are many questions. Okay. Hare Krishna Guru Maharaj, please accept my respectful obeisances. I am often tempted to ask you for spiritual instructions. But since I am serving in the temple already, the President's instructions are your instructions. Is this the right mood? Your fallen servant Navadvip Sachi Devidas.
Guru Maraj.
Is this the right mode?
It is not wrong.
It is not wrong.
Except temple president's instructions and mine to accept the temple.
President'S instructions as mine. Unless he asks you to do something that is not Krishna conscious.
Since Prabhupada Lord gave me many instructions even help me and they.
But since Prabhupada gave me many instructions, you can try to help me to fulfill any of those instructions.
Saying they need to get to the safari so we can close the question Answers.
What should we do?
815.
How. How to become guru? If I try to become guru means I will get proud. I will become proud. So I'm afraid to become Gu.
I saw this morning that it's not difficult to be the world.
I showed this morning how it is not difficult to become a a guru.
That means you have to follow Lord St. John's instructions. Be a more humble.
So to preach what Krishna said then you have to follow Lord Caitanya's instructions to become humble and also become more tolerant than a tree.
Krishna says that Bhagavad Gita he has memory knowledge. So we want be humble that he gives us memory to repeat his instructions.
Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita that he gives us remembrance. So therefore we should always remain humble so that he gives us the remembrance to preach about him. Did Lord Chaitanya preach first in Bengal? Or did his preaching start in South India? Or did he start preaching in South.
India first.
Initiated in Bihar he got.
Initiated in Bihar.
In Gaya Gaya Vilaya.
He got initiated by the disciple of Madavendra Puri Ishwarapuri and he preached in Navadvip. Then he took Sannyas later. Then he went to Jagannath Puri.
He also preached there.
Then he also preached there.
And then he went to South India and West India all over.
Then he went to South India, West India and so on.
He did something in South India which he didn't do. And then.
But he did something in South India which he didn't do in Bengal.
He was the only one on the road.
Anyone on the road, he would meet, he would embrace them. How many of you would like to be embraced by Lord Chaitanya.
Once you start preaching now. Sorry. Once he started preaching, he didn't stop.
Once he started preaching, he didn't stop.
I heard that as my group ready to dance and play drama.
So the safari group will now have a dance, a drama to please all of you. So they've told me to stop my question, questions and answers. So let me answer the remaining questions tomorrow.
I like to thank.
I'd like to thank.
I would like to thank the safari devotees and all the sannyas and all the sanyasis and sinners. Their devotees also Shankadari Prabhu and all the Madurai devotees.
Matru matriarch.
And all of you.
We just have a quick, a two minute announcement that his own Bhakti Purshotto Maharaj will do. Please be seated. Gurmaj is going to be here for the safari cultural. So please remain seated. Hare Krishna translation.
You will translate. You will translate.
So we have started one program called one crore people will write. So at the end you can offer the result for Guru Maharaj's health and long life. Other so we'll give you three books. One Gita, one empty book every day only two. You write and offer the result to Guru Maharaj for his last page. That is Samarpanam. You can offer result to Guru Maharaj health and long life. So that is my book table is there. You can receive these books from there. I would like to. Hare Krishna. Hare Krishna.
Mike.
Shahri Krishna, we are very fortunate to have with us his grace. Marichi Prabhu is there. Marichi Prabhu is from Argentina, South America. He used to be the formal temple president at Ecuador. He's a member of the JPS Seva committee. Co advisor of the Jagannath Mandir in Kuala Lumpur. In Malaysia he's been a servant and a secretary of Guru Maharaj for a long time. He's been organizing the spiritual safari for over 35 years. Taking people all around the world, all around various parts of India. And every time it culminates in a beautiful dance and cultural at the Vyasa Puja of Guru Maharaj and Srira Mayapur. You're going to have an opportunity to see Now I would first request all the Mataji there to sit down.
Your team.
That's not my team. Okay, please, I want every one of you to be seated. Please request you to be seated. Do not move. Be seated. You are safari devotee now.
It's too late.
I can't do anything about it. Be seated where you are. Okay, I request everybody to be seated. We're going to start off. Guru Maharaj will be here for the initial start of the cultural show. And I hand over to the magician of the the safari. The person who has made this magic for 35 years happen. His grace. Mari. Prabhu. Prabhu.
Yes, yes.
Okay.
Okay.
Good.
Krishna Bhattar. Ready?
No, no, I'm not ready. Okay.

You have a mic. Oh, we need one more cordless mic, please. One cordless mic for the. For the translation. You can come here. You think closer. That will be better. One more mic for translation.
Please.
One mic for translation. One mic.
Hare Krishna.

Little louder everyone.
Sa. Everybody just say Sam.
Hare Krishna. Hare Krishna. Krishna Krishna Har.
Sa everyone.
Well, that was fantastic. Thank you so much. To see our Guru Maharaj have taken us for safari for the past 40 years. I only helping Guru Maharas in the organization of safari for the past 35 years. But before.
Okay.
One safari that Guru Maharaj likes very much is the Ganga Safari. Srila Prabhupada have the desire also that devotee will be able to come from Calcutta to Mayapur by boat. And also that they will be preaching, traveling by boat and preaching. So in 1998, Guru Maharaj was the first time in the history to organize the Ganga safari.

So they have one boat that Guru Maharaj travel with the deities of Nitai Pada Kamala. And they have another Boat with Brahmacharis. Another with Grijastas. Another was a cooking party. 40 Brahmacharis from Mayapur. Cooking, moving on the boat. So like these four boats every day. Every day in the morning, evening, they join in all the boats together. And then we sing in Mongol Arctic, sandiartic. All the program. 20 days with traveling. And that one day in the Ganga safari, Guru Maharaj wake up early morning and he spontaneously composed a song. In the Ganga safari. Guru Maharaj.
You want to learn? Okay, okay. If you want, I. I need a chair. One chair here. When somebody can bring a chair for me. Okay, this one. You see, all you have to learn is the word Ganga. Very, very simple. Only you need to know Ganga. Everyone repeat after me. Ganga.

So we call him Sarvani Lakshmi Priya Mataji from Malaysia. To please explain about the drama today. And this is the closing of the program. The other Shadans and other program we will have tomorrow. Okay. And the magic? The magic also tomorrow. Okay. Special magic for you.
So.
Hare Krishna. So today since we are going to have. We are having Guru Ashna convention. We thought we should do a drama that relates to Guru and disciple for you all to understand how the relationship of a Guru and a disciple should.
Be.
Guru Matrom Sishir k Daylana.
Especially for how the disciples should feel towards their Guru. So we were thinking how can we actually best, you know, represent this. And then Marichi Prabhu told us, can you do a drama on Ramanujacharya? So first we were looking at how Ramanujacharya, how he was a very good disciple of his Guru. We thought how to make this the drama still not hitting at the right spot, you know. So then we saw. We came across Kuresh, Ramanajacharya's disciple. And we saw the relationship between Quresh and Ramanajacharya. It was so, so beautiful. We thought we must do this story. To tell you the truth, the whole story about Quraysh is very long. But we chose the most profound one in fact. Okay, Prabhu, translate first. I think it was yesterday or today we were speaking to Mahavara Prabhu because we actually wanted to cast Mahavara Prabhu in the drama as well. By then Prabhu is very busy with his service for Guru Maharaj. So while we are talking about the Quraysh story, we found out that actually the Quraysh story was the one that inspired Mahavara Prabhu to do his selfless service towards Guru Maharaj. So Mahavra Prabhu made a huge research.
On Quresh Prabhu, Mahavara Prabhu.
And that's what inspired this service until now. Even when he was speaking to us. So he was like very, very. He was very, very touched about it. And he was very, very happy that we are doing the story of Qu. As we all know how great Mavra Prabhu is doing such nice service with all the other servants for Guru Maharaj. I hope that while you watch this story probably you will also be very inspired to do so much service for Guru Maharaj. So the story, we just put it all together I think today. Yeah, around today and yesterday. We had a practice yesterday night. So please forgive us if we are not so perfect. We actually planned this since we were in Malaysia by then. As you all know, safari, if you have attended safari, it's huge, very busy, packed schedule. We don't have time to even practice. So we only had time yesterday when Marshall.
Safari.
So please forgive us if we did any wrong or mistakes. And please pray for us so that we can perform this properly that we inspire all of your devotion. Thank you Hare Krishna.
Thank you Hare Krishna.
Okay, so we just move this chair and this mic. That's all the two mic. This one.
One or two?
What do you want?
Okay, here is one more. To all the devotees who are watching online. We have right now about 250 devotees watching this program from China. They also have devotees watching from around the world. This program thousands of devotees are watching on YouTube Facebook so hope you enjoy this drama.

Hare Krishna Dear devotees, all glories to Shishiguru and Gauranga. Today we like to present a drama entitled Servitude through the eyes of Kurish. The story of courage lives has been told many times over the centuries. Nonetheless, it's a life story of such nobility and inspiration that it will bear repetition. Today Quresh is a humble disciple of the great Ramanujacharya. The two took to each other easily and warmly. Under Sri Ramanuja's guidance. Quresh was soon initiated into the rigorous study of of the ancient Vedic scripture. Quresh very soon became his master's faithful shadow. As Ramanujacharya grew more popular, the Sankara followers felt threatened by him. They went to see the Chola king Krimikanta at Kanchi bowing humbly before the King who was himself an impersonalist they asked him to do something to stop Ramanuja.
Raja Di Raja Raja Gambira Raja Kulatilaga Raja Martanda the great Chola King Krimikanta Varar vara Varar.
Sam.
Oh great Pandita. It is an honor to receive all of you into my kingdom.
Thank you my Lord for your gracious welcome. May you always be blessed with a great Shankaracharya.
Thank you so much great Pandita. Now tell me, what can I do to serve all of you?
My dear Lord, we came with a distressing news.
Distressing news? What is it my Lord?
Have you heard about Ramanuja?
Ramanuja?
Ramanuja?
Yes, yes. But he is a devotee of Lord Vishnu. What is it about him?
My dear Lord, this Ramanuja. This Ramanuja is very dangerous. He's preaching the philosophy which is threatening the philosophy of Lord Shankaracharya.
Is he gaining any followers? Tell me about that My dear Lord.
Day by day he's growing. We need to stop him. We need to do something for him.
Yes, yes Pandita, we cannot allow this to happen. We have to stop this before it becomes worse. Dear Pandita, do not worry. I personally will invite Ramanuja to the palace for a debate.
There I will invite all the great.
Scholars of Shankara and I will invite all of you and there we shall defeat him.
Why?
What's wrong? Are you not happy with my decision?
No, no my Lord. Whatever you do, it is best for us.
Then what's wrong?
Tell me.
My dear Lord, we got to know that recently he defeated so many great, great scholars and so.
And so you are afraid that you'll be defeated by him?
No my lord, no. Why we need to be afraid? While you are there you just instruct him to be killed. All our problems are solved my Lord.
All right. You are right Pandita. If we are unable to defeat him through debate we shall forcefully convert him to our philosophy Ramanuja Desa God.
After some discussion it was decided that King would invite Ramanuja to take part in a philosophical debate at the palace. Thus the King's messenger was sent to Srirangam to fetch Ramanuja. The King had in his mind to convert Ramanuja by force if necessary. Once Ramanuja had been converted he thought then everyone in his kingdom would return to the fall of Shankara. Whereas in Srirangam Sri Ramanujacharya is busy with his service.
It don't. Dear sir, how can I help you?
I'm here As a messenger of the great King Chawla. The King Krimikanta. The King. As a message for Sri Ramanujacharya.
That's great. But Swamiji is now giving class. Is it okay if you can pass.
The message to me so that I.
Can pass to Swamiji?
How dare you. You trying to stop the King's message?
Go and tell to your Guru that the King is really wanted Ramanujacharya.
Surely sir. I will invite inform him now.
That's all for today. Any questions?
Swamiji, the messenger from King Chola is here for to meet you for immediate audience.
The King. Yeah, I understand Swami. I don't think you should go. The King Chola is known to be a Sankara follower. I'm sure he has set a trap for you, Swami. I know. I'm sure he has planned something to convert me to Shankara philosophy. Why else he had invited me. But I need to go. I can't be refusing his order. Swami, if you really need to go, please send me. Then I will go in your state. No, Quresh. The King wants to see me, Ramanuja. So I shall go. If I'm not there, he may get angry. Swami. Yes Swami. But the King doesn't know who is the great Ramanujacharya. So please, I can go in your state, Swami. No Quresh.
No.
I won't allow you to go on behalf of myself. The King wishes to harm me. This is too dangerous. Impersonating me will bring you more harm, Swami. This is crucial, Swami. It's crucial for me to go. You are far too important to be harmed. There's sure many things they will do to you if you are there. So please let me go. I will take whatever they are going to do for you. Please Swami. Swami, please. No courage. I won't allow this. Let it be the God's desire. He is my protector and he is my maintainer. Swami, please let me go. I'm your servant. Your insignificant servant. I am no use to you. No way I can help you. But please Swami, let me just do this small service for you. We know there'll be harm for you, Swami. Please Swami. Please let us just do this one small service for you, Swami.
Please.
Quresh did not trust the intention of the King and pleaded with his Guru to allow him to go in his place. Quresh insisted and Ramanuja had to submit. Therefore, both Guru and disciple changed their robes.
You're out alone?
Where is your Guru?
Wait, wait, wait. He just finished his class.
He will be here shortly.
Yes.
Yes.
No.
Yes.
Sir.
We are the followers of Shankaracharya.
That is great.
What is so interesting?
You are the follower Shankaracharya.
That is great.
Oh one sir sir. Sir sir sir.
Here is your Ramanujacharya.
You have to follow me to the.
Palace of the King dream.
Shortly after Quresh, dressed in the saffron robes of his Guru appeared before the passengers with staff in hand. Thinking Quresh to be Ramanuja, they started for Kanchi. Meanwhile dressed in white robes, Ramanuja remained behind.
Sa.
When Quresh reached the palace Kim Kripikanta greeted him with respect back thinking him to be Ramanuja.
Welcome, welcome dear Ramanuja. It's a great pleasure to meet you in person. I've heard highly about you oh Ramanuja.
Oh my dear king, thank you for your kind welcome. It's an honor for us to be here.
Oh Ramanuja, I know that you must be curious on why did the King send a personal invitation for you to visit the palace? You see in my kingdom we have a lot of great learned scholars But I've also heard that you are highly intelligent and well versed in Vedic scriptures. So I thought wouldn't it be a good idea to have a discussion.
With.
The great scholars of my kingdom? Wouldn't it be a wonderful discussion, a wonderful scenario to see you having a scriptural philosophical discussion with the great scholars of our kingdom. Would it be a good discussion?
Oh my dear king, I'm very grateful that you have invited us to have a discussion in your call. By my Gurudev's blessing I will try my best to reveal the Vedic scriptures as how he has revealed it to me.
Ha.
That's more like it. Let the debate begin.
Sam.
Disguised as Ramanujacharya, very friendly, defeated all the scholars in debate. The King was very disappointed by this. He wanted Ramanujacharya defeated so he tries a different method to convert Ramanujachacharya by force.
Enough.
Ramanuja. Since we are at this point let me get straight to the matter. I am a follower of Shankara and you are a threat to our philosophy. And day by day your followers are growing. I shall not allow this to happen in my kingdom. As a king I only give you one option. It's either you convert to the Sankara philosophy or else you have to pay the price. I will arrest you and place you in the prison. Bear in mind Ramanuja, you would not want to be in my prison. You will be tortured. What would be your decision?
Are you willing to convert?
Tell me.
You want Me to be afraid of torture in your prison? You want me to betray my Lord Ranganath for your prison? For your torture? Please take me. So be it. I know my Lord. Lord Langanath will protect me. He is my maintainer. Why should I be afraid?
Is that your final decision?
It is my final decision.
Foolish Ramaduja.
God.
Capture Ramaduja and blind him. Remove his eyes. Let this listen to all those who.
Are not willing to convert to Shankara's philosophy. This is my warning to every one of you. If anyone even to speak of Lord.
Vishnu or the teachings of Ramanuja, all of you will face the same vra.
The King ordered Quresh and the devotees following him have their eyes burn out. With great hot iron rods the king's man took Quresh to a prison to blind him. Yankarium Yandrum I.
Sam Ra.
So thank you.
Thank you so much for giving me this small service I can do for my Guru Day. What more can I ask? Thank you.
Thank you.
My dear sir, I have never met a soul like you. You're such a great soul. I couldn't believe that you could actually even stand the pain that suffering. Who are you, my sir? I'm only a servant of my grand Guru Day. I terribly misjudge you. Please forgive us for doing such an offense to your lotus feet. Please forgive us. Please. Please guide this Swamiji.
Please.
So sorry, sir.
So sorry.
During the entire horrifying experience, Quresh never want protested. He found strength within. Knowing that his Guru was safe after enduring the brutal punishment, Quresh, now blind, thanked the executioners with folded hands. He expressed his eternal gratitude to them. His sincerity was so profound that it melted the hearts of the executioners. Within a matter of days after committing that grave offense against Quresh, King Cream was stricken with an incur an incurable disease and died a miserable death. Whereas the king's men released Quresh into the forest, despite the unimaginable suffering, Quraysh was joyful, feeling honored to have given up his eyes in the service of his Guru. With the help of some people from Kanchi who were very appalled by the action of the king, Quresh was able to rejoin his Guru. H. Ranger. Oh my dear Quraysh. Oh my dear. Yeah, it's me.
Sit.
You?
Yes. Oh. Gurudev.
I long for you.
Gurudev.
How are you, O Kuresh? Since I heard the news of your blinding, I can't even close my eyes. It is extremely saddening to see you to go through this. You should not have gone through this. This the very reason I Didn't allow you to go on behalf of me. I can't see you like this, Quresh. I can't see you, Guru. My dear Swami, Me suffering. This is the greatest joy for me. This is the greatest joy for me. I can finally do a small service. I was nowhere helpful for you, Guru. But finally I can do for you. Why you said Gurudev, this is what I need to do for you. I'm so happy. There's not even a pain that I felt. All I felt was bliss. Great joy to actually do this service at your lotus feet, Guru.
Day.
Oh my dear Quresh. At Srirangam, Ramluja took Quresh before the deity of Narayan. Ramnujacharya, deeply pained by Quresh, conditioned requested him to pray to Lord Vishnu for the restoration of his eyesight. Quresh, however, had a different prayer in mind.
Sam.
Krishna. O Koresh, please pray fervently to the Lord to regain your eyesight. He will sure answer your prayers. I'll be here shortly. My dear Kuresh. My Lord. We have suffered tremendously, My Lord. Is that you, my Ranganath? Yes, Kurish, it's me, your Ranganathan. I am very pleased with your devotion to my dear disciple devotee Ramonuja. Tell me, Quresh, what is your desire? I will fulfill it desire, my Lord, you are so kind. You have graced me with your presence. What more can this servant of yours ask? What more can I ask?
My dear disciples said that I will fulfill your desires.
How can I go against my devotee's words?
Tell me, Quresh, what do you want?
O my Lord, you are so kind. You are truly the Bhakta Vasalya. Since my Gurudev has requested this, I seek forgiveness for King Chola for blinding me. And please, my Lord, elevate him to the kingdom of Vaikuntha. Tatashtu.
What else do you want?
My Lord? I do not wish for any material things. But I do have one small desire. I wish I can always see only you, my Lord and my Gurudev within my heart. Tatashtu. Rangana.
Ranganath.
When Ramanujacharya returned, Quresh was able to greet him. Ramanujacharya felt elated. But he soon noticed that Quresh could not see the rest. So he inquired. Yes, Swami, I can see you. I can see you, Swami. I can see you. I'm so happy to see you. I told you. For surely the Lord will answer your prayers. It's only by your mercy, Gurudev. It's only by your mercy can you see Tulsi Pran. Tulsi Pran. No man.
Michael.
I can't see you. I only can see you and Ranganath. You mean you can't see Tulsi Naat but you can see me? Yes. I can only see you and my Lord Ranganath. What exactly that you prayed for Quresh. I have prayed for that I can always see you and my Lord Ranganath only within my heart. Means you only can see Lord Ranganath and me. Yes. Yes. If in this case can you exactly let me know what dress is Lord Ranganath is wearing now? Our beautiful, dazzling Lord Ranganath is having a beautiful golden crown, yellow dhoti, beautiful necklace of pearls and a beautiful garland of lotus. That is our glorious Rangana. Fantastic. How about me? O my Guru, your form is so much of splendor. You are having a beautiful chadar and a saffron d And your body and your forehead filled with tilaka. Glorifying our Lord Ranganath. My dear, dear Quresh. Your humbleness and selflessness had make you to be one of the exalted devotee of our time. But yet I like to wish to pray to revive your eyesight. Let me pray to Lord Ranganath. My dear Lord, please be merciful to Quraysh and revive his eyesight. He had gone through the ultimate sacrifice even without protesting. O my dear Lord, please be merciful to my dear disciple Quresh.
Sa.
Mayar.
That's how Quresh got his full eyesight back. Quresh is a perfect example of selfless service to one's Guru. Quresh's willingness to sacrifice his life and eyesight for his Guru teaches us that through devotion involves putting the needs of our own Guru above our own. This story also highlights the importance of forgiveness and compassion. Even after enduring unimaginable reasonable cruelty. Quraysh first prayers were for the forgiveness and spiritual elevation of those who had wronged him. Courageous. Exemplary. Preference for spiritual vision over physical sight teaches us the true goal of life is to see the Lord and our Guru within our hearts. Material vision is temporary but spiritual vision connects us to Guru and Gauranga. Thus end the drama on Sri Ramanujacharya in Quraysh. Thank you very much, Hare Krishna.
