Jayapataka Swami shares what Srila Prabhupada told him about pleasing the guru: develop love for Krishna. The ultimate goal is reaching Krishna consciousness, becoming a lotus-eating nandi, and helping others awaken to the same devotion. Sincere chanting and service bring automatic bliss, unlike fleeting worldly pleasure.

When each devotee becomes very serious, very mature, and reaches the perfectional stage of Krishna consciousness, then they can go directly back to the spiritual world. I asked Prabhupada, I want to serve you life after life. He said, why do you want to make me come back? I said, oh, I want to serve you either I got the life. If you— if I'm not qualified for that, they will serve you in this life. I like that. Like all the devotees, to become very committed in serving Mācchāya-jñāa-nityānanda, taste the bliss of Ka consciousness. Fail to chant My Krishna very blissfully. All the men and women, all the boys and girls, achieve perfection in Krishna consciousness. And this is very important. People ask me, how will I be pleased? I asked that to Prabhupada. He said, I am very pleased when my disciples develop love of Krishna. I heard that Vākīsaranda aaja Akash said if he had won one demarikari, he thinks his whole mission was a success. So we know that Pralhad Maharaj, he was a lotus-eating nandi. All the devotees become lotus-eating nandis. They think how they might help others become Krishna consciousness. That is the real perfection. I want to please Krishna. The whole world is trying to please their senses, but the senses get automatically pleasure and distress. It's like you don't have to do something, it comes. Like that, you don't have to ask for it, pleasure will come. Always try to serve Krishna. That is the real essence of life. When you hear the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, when you hear the pastimes of Lord Krishna, then naturally you get attracted. You want to serve the Lord. I hope that all the devotees will have this taste to serve the Lord. Hare Krishna.
