A 2002 recorded lecture by Jaya Pataḳa Swami (transcript of a YouTube video) focused on Śrīmad Bhāgavatam passages about Prahlāda Mahārāja and the persecution by his father Hiranyakashipu. The speaker reads translations/purports of verses, narrates the Nṛsiṁha (half-man, half-lion) episode in detail (weapons turning into blue lotuses, the great hall, aerial battle, manifestation of Nṛsiṁha to protect Prahlāda), and draws theological lessons about the Lord's protection of devotees, the role of the guru, and the dangers of uncontrolled senses. The talk references supporting sources (Padma Purāṇa, Prema-vaiṣṇava literature), includes audience/ritual remarks (temple inauguration), and ends with a subscription/closing invitation.
What's the capacity of the disciple? It's the one thing to inspire, go up to the capacity. They don't want to make people break, do things that they can't do, try to do things that are totally out of their range. I know sometimes there's a Siksha guru for some disciples. Other gurus, sometimes they come to me and they bounce off first, like they're afraid a little bit of the big shadow of where to stay, you know, so they kind of bounce it off and see if it sounds right, what they should do and circumstance. So my initiate disciples, they go to the seems to be with the Diksha guru, there's a little more awe and reverence and apprehensions. They're going to go to uncle and make sure. Because his uncle is not going to be a guru offense. I have one case where the guru, the rory, is told wrong information about a particular disciple to the guru, and the guru rejected the disciple. And the disciple was pretty frustrated by that. And then. So then I was. I kind of tried to give some sentence of that devotee. And then I approached it. I saw that she was writing devoted to her guru. But then the guru somehow didn't have a good understanding about her. So then later I went to the guru and I explained she thought that she's not a bad person, she's very sincere. Somehow this wasn't understood by what we're told. And so then she was accepted back by the guru and initiated and became even one of his secretaries. So I said, there's a lot of this type of thing in Iskanawa. You find people crashing, land on the side and get back on it. Thank you very much. Ram. Ram.
Sam.
Ram. Ram. Sakura Divorce. Eternal Sam Saks Hari Kishna Hari Samboja. Translation Just as uncontrolled senses are enemies of all yogis engaged in advancing in spiritual life, this Prahlada who appears to be a friend, is an enemy because I cannot control him. Therefore this enemy, whether eating, sitting or sleeping, must be killed by all means. Translation Just as uncontrolled senses are the enemies of all yogis engaged in advancing in spiritual life, who appears to be a friend because I cannot control him. Therefore this enemy, whether eating, sitting or sleeping, he killed the Almighty. Report by Srila Prabhupada of Hiranyakatsibhu planned a campaign to kill Prahlad Maharaj. He would kill his son by administering poison to him while he was eating, by making him sit in boiling oil, or by throwing him under the feet of an elephant while he was lying down. Thus Hiranyakasiku decided to kill his innocent child, who was only five years old, simply because the boy had become a devotee of the Lord. This is the attitude of non devotees toward devotees. Next verses don't have purports and we'll continue. Nayritaste samatishta bhartra vai sulapanmaya. The demons Rakshasas, the servants of Hiranyakasipu, thus began striking the tender parts of Prahlad Maharaja's body with their tridents. The demons all had fearful eyes, faces, sharp teeth and reddish khapri beards and hair. And they appeared extremely threatening, making a tumultuous sound, shouting, chop him, Pierce him. They began striking Prahlad Maharaj who sat silently meditating upon the supreme personality of God. So thus had the Bhakavidanta Swami translation purported text 38, 39 and 40 of the fifth chapter 7 Kentoshima Bhagavatam in the matter of Prahlad, the same the son of Hirani Kashifu aniyum Tasat spoken this 28 of August 2002 Kristavdo in the 516th year of our Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in the Radha Lodhavishwara Tagalogist Temple Tennis Hall Street, London, City of Westminster, to the west of the Ganges, the universe of the forehead of Brahma. So it's interesting how Raghurami Kashipu here is saying as uncontrolled senses are the enemies of all yogis engaged in advancing the spiritual realm. So he knows about the science of yogis advancing spiritual life. You know, uncontrolled senses are the enemies in those days. Demons. They were very learned in mystic powers and meditation and many kinds of spiritual practices. But they were just atheists. They were inimical to Vishnu, the demons, because Prahlat was not able. He compared the Prahlat with his uncontrolled senses because he can't control Prahat. He tells Prahlad, who's the greatest? Prahlad's the Vishnu. And then he just rips out, says, no, why don't you see, I'm the greatest Lada. So Maida. So then Hiranika Shuku just gets angry with him that he's not able to control it like this. Always tells the truth. He's only five years old. He's very honest. Just whatever the hindikashipu asks. Hiranikashipuku asks, like when he asked about what was the best education you got, he could have said, what did your teachers teach me? All military science, politics and economics who have said that. When he said what is the best thing you've ever learned? So the best thing I've ever learned Saravanam, Kirtan and Swayana Vishnu. The nine processes of devotional service. The best thing I ever learned.
So.
It'S very interesting this pastimes of Prahlada Mahinde because in the Padma Purana the or was President Vrindavan which the Prabhupada said that to Jaya Sachinanda who was translating at that time the Saras and Darvas. And he said it's too high for you. You should introduce Haras and Dharma because you're not that expert in Sanskrit. He said first you can do the Vishnu Quran and the Padma Quran. This is also useful for our devotees and that's easier Sanskrit.
So.
That'S why you'll understand Padma Purana was a good supporting literature. So the Padmapura, it mentions the glories of the Shiva Dev. And actually imagine the Shaya Deveres in different millenniums, in different pastimes all over similar, different, not exactly millennials, you can say Kalpas, leaders of Brahma. So this is this Kalpa from the Bhav. The Bhagavad is explaining here what the past name is. But then some devious Kalpa is some other medicine. Very similar but unique. Here it has the demons coming and stabbing him with their tigers. Making shouting sounds, chopping and piercing. But somehow they couldn't penetrate him. They couldn't do anything. He was protected by Vishnu. In a previous pastime I mentioned that Hiranyakashipu had worshipped Shiva. He had Leela. He did worship Brahma. So mentioned two different other Leelas. One where he worshipped Brahma, also one where he worship Shiva. The one where he worships Shiva. Then he also asked Shiva to be eternal. But Shiva says that I can't give that blessing that's only given by Vishnu. So then again he gave, you know, I can't be killed. And inside the time he didn't say inside. Outside he said by day and night.
By.
Weapons, all the other more or less all the other rooms except inside and outside. And when he told Prahladas hey that I'm a supreme and Prahlada said no you're not. So I can at least say she was a supreme. Pr said no, he's also contrary. So then he said okay, we have to destroy this boy he saw. So that time says all these demons threw their weapons of pr. They didn't just stab them. They actually threw their weapons. But as the weapons hit his body, they turned into blue lotuses. So they were throwing arrows after arrows and tridents and spears and everything. That was. As soon as it would touch his body, take a chopper, take a sword. With all their force, it smashed it against his body. But as soon as it touched his body, poof. It turned to a blue lotus. So pretty soon he was covered with a big pile of blue lotus. So they're offering other weapons, offering lotuses to Kala.
It was.
Interesting. Then also it said at that time Hiranika shipu. He wanted, I don't know, one of the two leelas. I think this one. He constructed a large meeting hall. This was a big kirtan hall for Harani Kashipu Kirta. It was the Harinau Kirtan hall. It was Kashipu Kirta. So he constructed this large hall. It was so large. It was like a huge stadium. It went literally this erosions. It was like a huge indoor stadium that could literally hold millions and millions of people. It went for miles and miles long, wide, rectangular shape. So that you could happen to have planes lying inside. It was that big. So he was on this gigantic pedestal, like a mountain, very high. Didn't say they had the video screen. And he would. From there everyone would chant his glorious whatever. I don't know exactly what the kirtan was like. Whatever it was, we love you. Don't kill us. We'll do what you want us to. So you have this big gathering. But somehow he gratified everybody. The demons are happy. And he gave everybody. He was a devotee as he persecuted anybody. That was a yes man for him. It was all right. It was just that you were a devotee of Krishna, devotee of Ishta. Then you were in good trouble. So that thing is. He told Prahlad that you have till sunset to surrender. If you don't accept that I am the supreme by subset, I'm going to kill you. It was interesting because so this time he didn't break any pill or anything. So he said Narasikadev, he flew into the capital city and he was flying down the central street. And the demons seeing this gigantic half man, half lion form and they are freaking out, seeing the angels flying around, flying through the tower. Then he entered into the kirtan hall and he is flying in the back of kirtan voice is so far. It's like. And Henry Kashik would say, who is the beast Thou by permission he sent his flying squad go There tell him to get out. If he does them, this is me, they kill him. So then they take off and.
So.
They'Re telling him get out. He doesn't get out. So then they attack him. And then mashing ad wipes them out. So then Radnyakashebu sends all his air force to go and get it. So that Nadev his manes from his hair. He puts the hairs out like standing on him. Put them out so that he's surrounded by his hairs. As soon as one of those airplanes from Rendezku touched one of his hairs it sounded like those insects out there just turned into ashes. So pretty soon the whole air force of Randikashipu was ashed. Ashed and trashed. And then he had a large arsenal of spread far out missiles. So one after another he would shoot missiles at Machinidave. He said Machinidave that he catch the missile, break it, bite it, throw it down, whatever. He always just catch the missiles. Some of the missiles got zapped by his hair. Pretty soon he had like the last the biggest weapon his Shiva dwarves. Yeah, whatever he also threw. Nothing happened. So then Yurandikasu got so angry that he came and he personally attacked. And then the whole fighting scene with flying in the air fighting. So the whole stadium is filled with people watching. How would you like to be there watching the fight between machine and the other times just a few people. But here you have a whole stadium of millions and millions of people all watching, all up in the air fighting with each other. The Devas are hiding and they're also watching a single time. Machinidadeva sometimes plays like cat. Mouse catches Shanakash but lets him go. He thinks something is frailly those kind of things go on. So then finally it was a sunset already it was the sunset.
And.
So there was just at the moment, half day or night. Then Srinidevo just grabs Yermikashipu and sitting on his throne beat by Hercules.
So.
That they sat on his throne because it was his devoted stone. So he blessed him. Then all kinds of demons tried to attack Machinidad and he wiped out all the demons. Wave after wave they came, you know, to avenge Rita's death and fight them out. He was like just okay, who's next? Who's next? Nobody else came despite it. Nobody had no other demons from coming forward. Then one of those has that Lakshmi sat on the lamb Lofra. And this Leela, she doesn't sit. She doesn't sit up in her lap. He can't even approach. But in that Leela, he she did a poacher and sit on his lap. But none of the other devas or anybody could approach because Nasingadeva was pushing out such an intense burning effulgence like millions of suns. Nobody could even look at it. They couldn't get near it. It was just so intense. So then Brahmadev crying out to Lakshmi, defulgens, defulgence, cool it down. And then, so then Lakshmi whispers in the air of the chimney dev and he changes his intulgence from burning intense to cooling like millions of moons. A really amazing kind of description of shrinking. Brayanti Machinga ding is regiful to his devotees. So Nasikadeva goes to Nasirapoli in Mayapur. Then after defeating the Rami Kashipu, then he's in a very peaceful mood. And all the devas come down and they build cottages on the hills there called devapoli. And they personally cook and serve Shinga day. So now that they've done Mashing day is very approachable. And even the good prayers they serve him. This is Ganesh and Nayu and Agmi and all the devas and Indra, they came and they were worshipping and serving like villagers. They were serving machinade. He was accepting their worship and service. So it's one of the specialties of the Navadigdam because it's the Onarya Dhamma. It's the abode of transcendental mercy. Therefore the Lord is very merciful.
With.
His devotees there at the mercy of the Shingabe. We can cross over all the obstacles in our path, in our spiritual life. But we don't talk for it. So when we pray the Machinga day, we can pray that the obstacles are removed. For worshiping our Krishna, for worshiping Havre, this is the Shingiv's specialty that he removes obstacles, particularly the Ashura ashram.
This.
Big kind of gross obstacles that are blocking our emotional service. Certain society today, just like Hiran Nikashifu, he did monitor devotees to have any facilities. The tendency now is in the sectarian. They call non sectarian or sectarian governments. They don't like to facilitate religion. No, we can't facilitate any particular religion. So it won't facilitate any. Rather than facilitating all religions.
They will.
Facilitate any religion, even this stuff. The only bona fide religion was the Catholic Church. We had to worship him. Any other kind of worship was called event. So much so that even if someone like Prahlad, who was a devotee of a shiv, he was given a Death penalty. What was his crime? He believed in God. I heard that in America during one of these court cases, California, the opposition to what they call plaintiffs, they brought in a picture of Shinga Deva, this picture of Shinga Dev. And then they said that just see, this is who they worship as God. The son is standing by where the father has been killed. Our lawyer objected, was sustained by the court. So it was never discussed. But I was thinking how, I mean one sense that since they brought him, it would be good discussed it. What was the actual philosophy here? Was the father torturing his son? I mean even in western American society, if he had a father who was throwing the son off of mountains, throwing him boiling oil, jabbing with the, trying to kill by knives, sharpen instruments, throwing in the pit of snakes, throwing under the feet of elephants to be trampled to death, administered poison, I mean every way he could think of to kill his son, he tried to do it. If there was a boy, a parent, he might be your so called parent did even a fraction of that in modern society it was required to immediately be arrested with the night virus. And if a father in America was successful for killing his son, he probably would get the death.
Then.
So actually they don't understand. They take something, they misrepresent it and present to actually see how bad Hiranika was. Then when he finally said he's personally going to kill his son, at the moment when he came to kill his son, the Lord appeared and protecting the boy. If there was a father ready to decapitate the son and the SWAT team came in with the police, I don't think they would be held responsible if they would have shot the father just as he's about to kill his son. A crazy person could have represented, could have understood. But somehow the Lord appeared in that many people, they don't really understand. They always misrepresent Prabhupada very unhappy that in brigband sometimes Christian missionaries would come and they'd say why do we should be Krishna? And he said that all these big big goswamis, Babajis and everyone, they're all being worshipped as, you know, great paramahamsas. But here's some pogringhams. And then he starts blaspheming Krishna. And nobody can challenge it, nobody can speak anything, nobody can explain it the padre that you're wrong, you don't have the proper understanding. The Lord is the Lord's owner of everything. What can you steal anyway? This is just his pastime to go to his transcendental. Happiness. So actually don't even have a passing the priests. But they're disposing as Paramount says, as virginity has been done in the Bhajan. So Prabhupada wanted us to be able to defend Krishna from these false kind of accusations when they come up to be able to explain to people. So it's important that all these details are given this type of detail. Narcing a day, killing Rakashi for women. People were misrepresented to see in which the Lord is so violent. People just give some kind of terrible interpretations. The details are given here how bad Radekya Sukha was, how he was torturing his son in so many ways. And finally when he was bursting Rangekili son, the Lord came and protected it, which is quite reasonable even by our limited morality in the mind of society we could appreciate that. So the Lord has got the higher principle Chittenda Mahakrabhu. He was also concerned with protecting his devotion. When Uchinanda was being attacked by.
The.
Mochitan came and was calling his Sridharas Intrakra. He was ready to finish off. The Lord promises that his devotee will be protected. Tenacity to boldly declare my devotee will never perish. The devotee is the mind goes on to live eternally with Ka in the spiritual worlds. So we should see Ka Srirana Sarava Bhutta, best well wisher, friend of our all living entities and a special protector of his devotees. So the devotees of the Lord, they need to also represent the Lord in that mood of protecting the devotees. They said in the Agile of Chittanu Charga read about. The Lord doesn't have anything to do. He doesn't have anything to achieve. He does everything. So he is free to take care of his devotees. Devotee care is his main.
Role.
And the spiritual master, or in this case spiritual master, teacher, gurus, their role is in helping the Lord to take care of their devotees. To see that devotees are facilitated in their spiritual life, that they're able to advance in their Ka consciousness and their faith. It's very hard to develop faith in this coming of death. If someone has any faith that the faith is planned, ritually enforced in this way. Helping the devotees to be Ka consciousness because he's helping the devotee in a unique way by taking a very dangerous obstacle out from the path of the devotee. This is not normally what the guru does, but sometimes Krishna can do these bad things. So in different ways the Lord takes care of his devotees. And the Brahma in the Prema Vaivartha mentions how one time there was a disagreement between Jagannatha and Mojitavya. The agreements are disagreements always. Like Jayana, the Pandit wanted to say serve Mochitan, worship him a particular way. But Moshita doesn't understand something like that. Here's an instant. So then Jagannatha pandit went to the side of the Ganges and just pretending his Japa. He was very upset over something that happened. But you need him much. So Nimai came out at night calling out Jagannamda, Jagannam, where are you? Then he found him sitting by the side of the entrance. And what are you doing here? You're not coming home? You're sitting here all alone in the night. It's not safe here. Why you're coming here barefoot with so many stones by the side of the Ganges and hurt your feet and should go home. The Lord Chaitani somehow smoothed out.
Now we have the official unveiling of.
The.
We have the ritual sad rituals in morning time for the opening dachshund. And now we have the official inauguration of this temple hall by these two senior devotees. And while these simple rituals taking place we like to hear Haribos. Not yet. So now is the auspicious line.
