A recorded lecture by Jaya Pataka Swami retelling a Vaishnava anecdote about Chapal (Chappal) Gopal, who committed an offense (vaishnava-aparadha) against the devotee Srivastaka and was afflicted with leprosy as a consequence. Lord Chaitanya refuses to forgive Chapal Gopal until Srivastaka forgives him; when Srivastaka grants forgiveness and prays for Chapal Gopal, Lord Chaitanya appears, embraces him, and he is cured. Themes: devotion, the seriousness of offenses against devotees, intercessory forgiveness, and spiritual healing.
We know that Nawadv is the Adaya Dao. We know that Navadvip is the Aodari Adham. Land of mercy. The land of mercy. But still Lord Chaitanya would not tolerate Vai Sadh Bharat. But still Lord Chaitanya would not tolerate Vaishnava Aparad Chappal Gopal committed an offense to Srivastakura. And because as a result Chapal Gopal was affected by leprosy. I did the general Aru. I thought they're going to talk to. One day Lord Chaitanya had gone to the place where Chapalgopal used to reside. Chapal Gopal offered his respects and obeisances to Lord Chaitanya and requested. You are magnanimous. You kindly have mercy on me. No, no, no, no. You have committed an offense to my devotee. You have committed an offence to my devotees. You'll burn in hell. You will burn in hell. You'll burn. Your offense. You will burn in hell due to your offense. And then he said, unless you get forgiven or Srivastaka, I will not forgive you. Unless you get forgiven by Shivas Thakur, I will not forgive you. So then some of the Bodhis went to Shivas and they told him that you shall forgive us. So some devotees, they went to Shivas Thakur. And they requested him that you can forgive Chapal Gopal. I am the most fallen. How can anyone offend me? I am the most fallen. You may think that Lord Chaitanya thinks you are devoting. You may think like that. But Lord Chaitanya thinks you're a devotee. Do you want someone to suffer because of you? So do you want someone to suffer because of you? No, no, no, no, no. I don't want that. I don't want that. No, no, no, no. I don't want that. I don't want that girl the high. Okay, then you please forgive Chapal Gopal. Otherwise Lord Chaitanya will not forgive him. And therefore Shalom Allah. Refuse to suffer. Therefore Chappalgopal will be forced to suffer. To that secluded place where Chathal Gopal was saying. Then Shrivast Thakur went to that secluded place where Chappalgopal was staying. And Chappalgopal, he fell at the feet of Shivas Thakur and said, please forgive me. I've committed an offense. Shivas, he said, if you have committed any offense to me, I pray. And Shivaj Thakur said, if you have committed any offense to me then I pray that you may be forgiven as soon as he said that Lord Chaitanya appeared. And as soon as he said that Lord Chaitanya appeared and embraced Chhapal Gopal Chandal Gopal was cured of all his leprosy. Chappal Gopal was cured of all his leprosy. And then Chapal Gopal was one of the parts of this Sankirtan movement of Lord Chaitanya Har.
