Lava-Mātra: A Moment with Jayapatākā Swami: HG Kṛpāvati & Nārāyaṇī Dayārūpā Devī dāsī

Hare Krishna. My name is Narayani Dhairupa Devidasi. I am from Chennai. My brother was in ISKCON quite a few years back. So he gave me Bhagavad Gita. And so I started to read Bhagta. Then after that he made me to join some Bhakti Krishna near my house. And that's how I joined the Bhakti Kiksha and got to know about the Gita. Bhagavad Gita. What are the things Bhagavad Krishna said? And after that I developed chanting. I started to chant minimum rounds. And after that my Bhaktiksha leader, he encouraged me to chant more rounds. And so I started to chanting more rounds. And after that we got introduced to a guru. When we come for festivals in Chennai temple, we used to meet devotees. We got devotees association and during Radhayatra. And I was able to meet Guru Maharaj during Vyasa Puja. And that's how I got introduced to Guru Maharaj. And in spite of his physical challenges, he was able to do so much in Mayapur. He was following his spiritual master's order and he is developing Mayapur so much. So that inspired me to get initiation from the Guru Maharaj.

When you got initiation?

I got interview.

The initiation when we gave the name something.

Yes. I was asked to prepare for the interview. And interview was on online only. So there were many questions. False. Very small, small questions. Even. Even we prepare for that interview. It is. It is up to our knowledge what we gained from the first. From first we. Whatever we we heard from the Bhakti Visha teachings. Only from that we were able to answer not from what we prepared or that also helped. But still the knowledge which we gained from the Bhakti Bhati Viksha only helped me to answer the questions during the initiation interview.

Where are you from, how you join Isma their story. My name is Rathi Prada Trupavati Devadasi. I am from Chennai. I got into ISKCON first. I know only iskcon but I don't know about the inner thin processes and everything. I am in Desnamalam in my same flat. One devotee Mataji is there in fourth floor. She actually invited for some of this function like Satsangam Lighthope. Initially I didn't know about it. So they gave me very nice prasadam which valued me very much. I thought this is very nice. So I should also I want to reciprocate the same manner like doing something in my house. Also then but I got. I don't know much about this cooking and pressad and all those things. So initially I got this Ekadasi Dane for doing that Prasadam. So I gave these fruits and so many Matajis came to my house. So then slowly that Damodar month came. At that time also I got opportunity to invite people and it was very new for me. When I heard that Damasar Rashtakam and it was very. I was very happy to hear. And I thought I am also now into Krishna consciousness. Slowly my interest developed. Then she asked me her name is Padma Krishna in fourth world. Then she asked me to come to Bhagavad Gita classes. Initially I like Prasadam and all those songs. But I am not into this Bhagavad Gita class. But since she asked me so I joined for some 10 months I went like only a day in a week. Then slowly after that I'm working. So I thought after my leave I have to join so I could not come on Fridays. Then after that Krishna didn't leave me. He introduced to another Bhagavad Gita class in the same street. And that is my BV class Nithyananda Sri Nithyananda Ramdaspat his class. Then I went there also initially but I was hesitant to continue there also. Then slowly but I what to say? I started some reading Bhagavad Gita book. After I got that I didn't do chanting. Then after for two three months I have been reading Prabhupada's book. Second chapter and third chapter. I was told by my friend Mataji in the phone.

So by that I slowly developed interest to chant. And again I was invited to this BB class. So by that time my interest got it. What to say? It was becoming more and more intense. So then I slowly I started standing eight rounds like that. And slowly Then this Rathayatra time it came. I felt very much happy to go into that. It was a new atmosphere for me. Because before that I haven't seen. Basically we are from Chennai. I have not seen this Rathayatra at all. And after that one day I heard that for so many years they have been doing. I didn't know about that at all. So when in 2018, January 19th, my 18th January I came to Drata. At that time I saw Guru Maharaj and I don't know about him. Then our Bibi leader he told that he is our Guru Maharaj. I was very what to say with all his. At that time I Saw him in the wheelchair coming. So I didn't know about much. But with all these difficulties he was giving blessings and he was so kind to everybody and so many devotees they were for offering obeisances. So I was very much astonished to see all those things. And that time also we had Prasadam. Then slowly we happened to go to temple frequently slowly. And after that during this Corona period also I heard so many lectures from our devotee Siska and Chennai devotees. And my interest got increased day by day. So I wanted to hear so many things. Lectures, songs and Bhagavatam everything. So at that time so I thought this after complete I was doing all these 16 rounds and Prabhupada Dashaya slowly then I want to take initiation from our Guru Maharaja. That was my inspiration. Slowly after that after taking initiation also then my want to say that intense feelings it was there. Like I have to do now more devotional service. Previously I was hearing lectures and all those things. Now after that I want to do more and more devotional service. And I also want to improve my devotion. I mean this Krishna consciousness, this what to say not with this 16 chanting 16 rooms but into all other spheres like getting association of devotees and also taking part in them. So that is why I have come now to join some Kirtan course. I also want to be one of the then I want to do preaching. So I. I basically I learn. I mean I hear to so many Bhagavatam lectures but I am not able to give one. So I have decided to join this Bhakti Shastri course also. So that Gaurav Maharaj has told only then we can be strong in preaching. So that I can extend my like how I got into this Krishna function. Same way I can introduce people to this movement. That is my.

Maybe you can tell us what do you remember from your initiation. The name given what it means what Guru Maharaj says.

How was initiation name? I just left for the I didn't choose any particular from this. What do they say? I didn't choose any Leela. I left to Guru Maharaj choice. So this name I liked my name very much when I first heard it. And because Guru Maharaj gave a lecture after initiation. He gave a lecture and there was Yajna also performed there. And those things were all new for us. We really after initiation it is said our journey starts probably after initiation. People think after initiation everything is done. So it is not like that after initiation only our journey starts for doing devotional service. So I came to know that. And we want to progress really well. And we want to do preaching, we want to help in the mission. Guru Maharaj's mission. We want to be a part of it.

Do you remember the meaning of your name?

No, they didn't say any meaning. No. All right.

Mataji, your initiation. How you do you remember about your name?

Same way that I didn't ask for any specific name from any Meelas. But when I was given this name, I felt very happy because it was some unique name not heard in this Chennai circle Gatiprada. And I thought my spiritual body would be more attractive since I am not eligible for that name name in this material. So I like that name very much. And just the previous news Japanese newsletter they have given that Guru Maharaj has told that behind your spiritual name that will be meaning hidden like whatever.

Has given our Guruman as that name. Jaya Pataka means victorious flag. Like that I thought maybe Ratna Prana means Rati means love for Krishna. Rati Rati means love. And so we are attracted to. So in that way, I think Guru Maharaj has given me the right name.

They want specifically where they said nobody has that batter. And I have done. I mean, I have soaked the rice everything. So I thought Guru Maharaj wish that to make that idlis. It was he has given it specifically for. And I'm not good at doing. But that time I had that what to say that how it could be that idli. Whether it has come properly. That stress I have got. Then I asked Mataji who has made that idli story. She said it was very nice and keen came out very Maharaj also liked that one. So I felt very happy that time. So till after taking initiation I was given so much like that service means I was what to say. I could feel his blessings in that how that reciprocation. Because devotional service it is very rare to get. So when I got that opportunity, I felt very much delighted. Do you have opportunity to see Guru.

I've seen him with our temple Banaswy Maharaja. They were very cordial.

Actually I could feel that they were into fulfilling their spiritual master's goal together. I could sense that. But personally we cannot approach. And we don't have that opportunity to go closer and to have an insight. Look.

How you see Guru Maharaj following Srila Prabhupada instructions.

In spite of so many physical disabilities and having this much of devotees disciples. He is able to fulfill his mission. Mayapur. Developing Mayapur. That is the foremost he is doing. And he has started this Bhakti Bhiksha. It is very how he has taken steps to spread this movement worldwide. He is the only Guru I hope to have so much followers and book distribution. It takes so much what to say? Steps in collecting and seeing that congregation. How it is going there. Everything is because of Guru Maharaj. And he is correctly following to my knowledge. I am telling that he's taking his utmost steps to complete the mission. What his Guru has given as a goal.
