Question and Answer Session at Govardhana Hill || Vṛndāvana, India #JayapatakaSwamiArchives

A recorded Q&A and spiritual discourse by Jayapataka Swami at Govardhana Hill/Vrindavan covering devotional practices (japa/rounds, beads), purification of heart (anarthas), guru/vaishnava authority and etiquette, interfaith dialogue, chanting in Sanskrit (Hare Krishna) as universal name, distinctions between material and spiritual liberation, stories illustrating potency of Bhagavad-gita and devotional practices, and practical guidance for devotees facing moral or material difficulties.
The real money is the holy name. Maybe Prabhupada was giving currency of the holy name and his daughter was the man. I want you to give the holy name to your body. We can discuss later whoever it is, you haven't seen me. If you have one question, Hare Krishna to you. Can you chant? Can one chant his rounds of Japra of 16? And after finishing, chant the other 16 rounds for tomorrow. Well, if it's after your day is over. It is midnight. Some people wait after midnight. They still up. They start chanting for the next day. You're supposed to complete 16 rounds in a day. If you don't complete, you can make up for the previous day. I never heard of chanting. You had for the future days. I've heard people, what is their day over? What is the 24 hour period? Just like they fix the 12 o' clock, for most people it's the day after that. They change the next day. How do we purify the darkness from our heart? Sabhana di jal parai se chan. We water the creeper of our devotion with the hearing and chanting these nine processes of devotional service. And we purify the anarchist by trying to also find them out. What are the obstacles in our heart? Where are the doubts? Where are misgivings? Where are bad habits? Try to eliminate them either by reading shastra, by discussing with a senior devotee, spiritual master, getting rid of the anarthas, reaching to our mind while we go on with our steady practice of devotional service. In this way Lord Chaitanya says that we should pull out this weeds from our heart. It's like a gardener, he finds a weed. He's not merciful to the weed. Okay, it's a weed, let it grow in my garden. He takes it out and cuts it at the root and pulls it out from the root. And closer. If you leave, you cut the top, leave the root in, It'll grow back, right? Take out the root so it doesn't go back. We have to find out why. Am I having some attachment or not to him? Some useless attachment for something we should be attached to. Could be some bad habits. Could be smoking, drinking, could be gossiping, could be gambling, could be laziness, Sleeping too much, eating too little. Some people eat too little. We don't eat enough to Saddam. They get weak, tired. Some people eat too much, some people want to eat bolus or whatever. There's so many different kind of unwanted habits we can get. How do we get the willpower to control ourselves? That comes from the regular Chanting. Then we fortify our intelligence. Also the why we should do it, that I shouldn't do this anymore. We should associate with people who are properly practicing. We have good association. Then that rubs off on us, makes it easier to practice properly. If we associate people with the same problem we do, we're probably going to continue because of that association. So there are many factors. Association, chanting and convincing ourselves and being determined. Sometimes we have this Prabhu. Gurudev, someone smashed me. I'm in Maya. Why am I attached to this crazy thing? I need to get some heavy medicine. What should one do when one. When senior devotees override or take advantage of them? What is the right thing to do so as not to cause any offense to anyone? Well, kind of an internal question for devotees practicing. Some senior devotee comes and tells you, don't do this, do this. Ultimately, we have to follow what guru has dictated for us to do. What the senior devotees said we're directly under. Sometimes we have a direct authority, some direct guide counselor. Somebody else comes in and tries to say what to do. We can humbly apologize that I have my work. He told me to do like this. If you want me to do something else, please talk to him or her. If you have a doubt about what we're being asked to do. If you ask a question, whether it's recording from the shastra, whether it's no harm in asking questions, you have to kind of know the chain of command, who's overriding. As the person who's senior, sometimes you have to follow what they're saying. If you're an ashram, then it's more like discipline. Quotes are there. If you're in the congregation, you can always say, I take care of my baby. I'm sorry, I got work. You can think of an excuse to get out what you need. You should find out whether these things are very general. I can give much more specific. That's why I always make myself available. When people come, they tell me the specific things. I was sitting making garlands for the deity. The head pujari told me I should make garlands. The temple president ran up and he said, the temple is on fire. You have to come and help put out the fire. I said, no, I follow the head pujari. I'm making garlands. Let the temple burn down. Okay? In that situation, you should follow the temple presence and help put out the fire and make the garlands later. I mean, if there's a million one, I have very good imagination. Somewhere on foot, I have an imagination. I can Think of so many. I don't know. One is to sort of override. This is such a general question. It could be this the other way. You're on the Pujari department. You're making garlands. The Sankirtan leader comes and says, this is Maya. Go out and do Sankirtan. Leave these garlands. What should you do? You've been told by the president to work in the Pujari department. Your service is to make the garlands. Then you have to say, well, Kabula, you're doing a wonderful service with such good time. But I'm just trying to help you all to make the deities look beautiful. So when you come back from sunk, you'll be inspired. And I've been giving the service. If you want me to do something else, talk to the president. And he assigned me to the Pujaga Haribo. Please don't mind. I don't know what type of who's overriding who and what. You know, right? I'm just giving a few principles. Who is the supreme between God and Ka? Because we are chanting Hare Krishna mantra and we are not mentioning the name of God. God is English, right? Means Lord Controller. Supreme Controller. In Sanskrit you say Ishwara or Parama. Ishwara, Parameshwara. But then I was asking one time we had my Ganga safari, we had 38 different countries. I told each one of you, tell, what is your word for water? So there was Aqua, Akwa, Voza, and so many words they had for water. But say now, tell me your words for gods. The Samuel said, God, Allah, Jehovah, Theos. Theos, you. You know, and so on. Down below, everyone had a different name. Chinese had no name. What's the name in. What's the local tribal language here? Zulu. There's two, three tribes here, right? Zulu. What's another one? Suzhou, Kosan. Okay, we'll try. We'll stick with the three. So what's the name for God in those languages? In which language? In Kulukum, it's what's the name for God? Colon Cool. Colon cool. Colon Cool. And in Saito, Sutu, Mutibu. Mutibu. Voting move. Mutimu. So like that. There's so many different languages and so many names for our God. The word Chante, Hare Krishna is Sanskrit language. It's said to be the mother of all languages. It's the eternal language that's even spoken in other planets. If you know Sanskrit, if you go to Indra Lobby to talk to Indra, you cannot talk in English or Afrikaans. Or Uru. But if you know Sanskrit, you can talk to you. This is universal language. And this language is called Devanakri, right? The language of the Gods. So why not say the name of God in Dhaivanagrady? So Krish Makrish means who is all attractive. And Na means the root of the word Ananda. What does ananda mean? List how many want happiness. So can you imagine the reservoir of all happiness? All this you found one pan, one reservoir. All the happiness is collected there. You scoop it out. Liquid happiness. Then. So this Krishta means all attractive. And whose reservoir of all the happiness? So that's the name of God. Because who else is attractive to everybody but God, right? In every language except for Chinese, they have a name for God. And everywhere he's attracted to everyone looking for happiness. He says source of all happiness. So that's why there's no contradiction here that we're not chanting the name of God. We are chanting God but in Sanskrit. I knew a Christian nun, Roman Catholic who. She wasn't willing to chant Hare Ka. I said okay, chant the name of God in Latin or whatever language you want. She started to chant Jesu Kisto Jesu Kisto Kisto Kisto Jesu Jesu Jesu Kisto Jesu Kisto Kistu Kisto Jesu Jesu. Chanting Jesus Christ in Latin or some Spanish or something. So then she saw that okay, if you chant this or chant, it's almost like chanting Hare Krishna. So why not try Hare Krishna? And it was working very effectively. And so then she began chanting Hare Ka. We don't mind anybody. They don't have to change their religion. They could be any Christian, Catholic, Buddhist, Muslim, anything they want. They can chant the name. Why only chant the name of God in Arabic? Why not choose Sanskrit? Why not chant any language, any bona fide name of God? We're saying to chant it but because Lord Chaitanya and our great spiritual masters would chant the names in Sanskrit. So we also chant things in Sanskrit. You shouldn't think that we're not chanting the name of God. It's the name of God. It's just in another language. Maybe you're not used to that. You're used to English. But all these chants. God, God, God, God. God is a title. It's like President. It's his title for Krishna, Gopala, Govinda Rao. These are more personal names. So since the names are more potent than the titles. Just like we have here the Ambassador or the Consul General from India. So one thing, you say Consul General but that means the title. He told his name, Mr. Goyal. And then he. Oh, thank you. That's like personal. I asked him, could I call you your Excellency? He said, no, no, just call me Mr. Goel. It's not so formal. So there's different ways of addressing the Lord. We find that the more personal, individual and explicit ways of addressing God are more effective. It's part of the science of chanting the holy mate. Okay. I don't know. This may be for the other Mama Maharaj. Like the Chaitanya Maharaj. You said that Krishna conscious may help to improve another religion. How does this happen? Because see, Ka Consciousness is like postgraduate study for all the religions. All the religions tell us that God is great. We should love God, right? But how do you love God? How is God great? What does he look like? What does he do? What is his daily routine? All these things. Most religions, they don't give us so much information about God. And they don't tell us in a detailed way how we can love God. Usually they tell us just the rules that we should follow and some basic rituals we should do. It's so beneficial, so auspicious. But you can improve more if you have more knowledge. And how can you love somebody if you don't know much about Him? They're doing a drama inside called Blind Date. You know what a blind date is? Probably not. Here. There's an English geometry. You're going out with somebody and you don't know who they are. Just like just a guess. You know who you know. Worship God, love Him. But then what does he look like? We don't know what does he do? So many questions remain. Sina Bhagavad Gita, Srimad Bhagavad. Krishna tells what he does, what he looks, life. How he is related with this material world. So this type of information can help to improve all the religions. To improve their love for God. Moreover, the practical ways of loving God, how we should orient our day. I was one time in South America and there was a Christian priest in a program with me. And then he asked, you are guru. I am Guru. I want to talk to you private. He said, okay. So after the program, everybody went. He locked the door, just him and me. Then he said, you were talking about family life. I protested. I want to know how to practice family life in a more spiritual way. Because right now my religion doesn't really tell us how to do that. So then I explained to him the principles of family life. How he can spiritually orient his family life. And practice it. Then he thanked me very much and he left. After about six months, I came back again. He came to my class. This time he said again, guru to guru talk. So at the end of the class, everyone laughed. It was me and him again. He had the white collar. I don't know, the Christians wore their white collar when everyone was out of the room. Then from behind the white collar he pulled out Tulsi night beads. He said, now I chant Hare Ka but I can't tell if my parents were doing it. I find it works very well. So there are many Christians, Jews and other people, other religions who are chanting Hare Krishna, studying Gita. They're getting some inspiration, they're getting some ideas. But because of, you know, there's not such an acceptance about inter faith teachings being exchanged at this point in the world that they're not able to reveal it. And actually they're getting lots of benefits. We had the world synthesis of science and religion in 1997 for the Centennial of Prabhupada and the former Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations. I forget his name, it was a German name, Swiner or something. He was there and he spoke that science, technology, medicine, even what you call criminology, forensic, all these things around the world there's a lot of sharing of ideas. That's how the world is going ahead. But in the camp of religion, it's like there's huge wall between each religion and nobody shares their information with the other religions and nobody wants to receive anything. It's like everything is blocked off as a result. Most of the wars in the world, most of the problems are between these different followers of different religions. So what we need, he said, is to have some kind of a parliament of religions. And I think after that discussion they had the parliament of religions in Cape Town. They're still having it every couple years. I don't know if that's the same initiative, but he was mentioned. So it was an interesting point when I took note of it and how there's so little we're willing to talk with any religion, any priest, anyone, about the principles of religion. I've had many inter faith seminars with people. Usually everybody wants to push forward their own point without really trying to find out what's the theorist understanding. That's the problem. We're trying to go forward and we believe interfaith programs in Birmingham, Rath Yatra and the main square, the Archbishop of Birmingham, the head of the Buddhist religion, different representatives from different religions came and each spoke on the occasion of Rath Yatra on the main stage. You might suggest that to the ordinary dancers here. It's an interesting program they have in the beginning everyone welcoming the Rath Yatra festival. The archbishop gave a very nice greeting to all of the Rathayatra participants. So we do have some dialogue going on in different places. Please expand. Can one attain empirical Nirvana without becoming a Sannyasi or Brahman? What is empiric goberma on your body as compared to what other kinds of Nirvana? We know that there's the material Nirvana and there's the Brahmanirvan. Brahmanirva is where one is spiritually emancipated and freed from the cycle of birth and death and realizes their eternal nature. That's called Brahmanirman. And what Lord Buddha realized, which is or talked about was the material Nirvana. Maybe empirical Nirvana means the material Buddha. Buddha became definitely Satyanthasm. He became a monk. I don't know if he was. He was of Kshatriya before. He meditated for six years and he realized the material Nirvana. But that's a different path because even you realize Nirvana, that God sent fully endless cycle of birth and death permanently. If you come back again eventually. We want people to realize the transcendental Nirvana. And Prabhupada said one can do that by chanting Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Ram Hare Ram, Ram Ram Hare Hare. They get first initiation. Even they are not initiated as a Brahmana. They take first initiation, they chant Hare Ka. They can also achieve with a surety Brahmanirvana. Even some persons, by some special mercy, they're able to realize, go back to the spiritual world even without any qualification. That's like a special bonus. In the glories of the fifth chapter, Bhagavad Ethna told by Lord Shiva to Parvati. There was a husband and wife. The husband was a musician. He was born in a family of devotees. His parents were devotees. They tried to teach him to be a devotee, but he was only interested in music. So the parents want to do, being dutiful parents, they trained him up to be a musician. As a musician, he was married. He had a beautiful wife. Gradually he became very famous and he became the royal musician. As a royal musician, so many ladies who are admiring him while they're singing and playing music. So he had a few opportunities come up where he could be unfaithful to his wife and have extramarital relations. So when the wife heard about this, she got very upset with him. Naturally. Why you are doing all this. So he promised I'd never do it again. You know how it is. It was just an accident. I really love you. And nothing like that. But it was happening again and again. So she got desperate. She wasn't very smart about these things. She thought that in order to teach my husband a lesson that he's being unfaithful, I'll be unfaithful also. And that may force him to be faithful. But then. So she did something unfaithful with some man. He found out not only. She wanted her to find out how he was right now. And then he said, what are you doing? Same thing you're doing. I did my sin. You're a woman. Let me tell you. I'm a woman. I can't do it. You're a man, you can do it. We should both not do. But then what happened? In the midst of all this, she got tapped to the net. But she didn't expect. It wasn't her original plan. So this family life became a horrible thing. Suffering like anything with each other because they worked true to each other. She got more and more entangled with this other man. He would chastise her, doing arguments and everything. So then she thought that my husband is an obstacle for me to enjoy. So one night, while he was sleeping, she killed him. She killed her own husband in the bed, cut him up in little pieces and threw him in a well. The wonder what is there to abide with? Eden comes at the end. So when he dies, he's dragged off to the Yamh lot. And he's there in the court of Yamarat. And there all the account keepers saying, look, this guy was born in a good family, he had every chance. But he was doing illicit sex, he was doing adultery, so many things. He simply wanted Naaman fame to enjoy the low life. So then Yamrath said, okay then what you deserve. You are a high flyer in society, loyal physician. But your consciousness was in the pits. It was in the darkest regions of materialism. So you deserve to be born as a vulture. You'll hide, fly and look for the dead bodies. This is your next birth. You straight drop given some special treatment in the resort area they have called hellish region. And then send off in a vault your body to play around. Meanwhile, his wife was getting the pension from the king. After her husband didn't come back for a long time, she was presumed death. She was trying to enjoy life. But she got many terminal diseases. She had very profound hemorrhoids and piles. They didn't have any cure there at all? They have a cure now. She died bleeding from the anus. Then she was dragged off to Yamaraj also. And Yamaraj hurt her case. They did the whole story, killed her husband, adultery, torn, so forth, all these things. So he said, wow, you are wanted to appear like a very nice person to everybody. You came around like a widow, looked like a very nice person, but you are acting like an animal. You don't deserve to be a human being anymore. You can become a female parrot. You look very nice, but you have a bird br so she's flying in the forest as a female parent after being the wife of the royal musician. So one day, the royal musician who's now vultures flying over the forest, and he sees this parrot and he has the flashback. This is my wife from the previous life who killed me in my sleep. Here is my chance for revenge. And he swoops out and he grabs her because vultures are big and no match. And he decides, I'm not going to kill her quick, I'm going to kill her slowly, make her suffer. But how she made me suffer. So he was like ripping her apart and she's screaming, I don't know how you're laughing. It's a horrible thing. Have some mercy on the poor parents. Screaming and being torn apart. So you know all this hard labor. Approaching is wife from the previous birth. He got very thirsty, so he's looking for somewhere to drink. Then he saw some bones and he saw a skull upside down, filled with rainwater. So for a vulture, that's like nectar skull water. What could be more delicious, right? Car vulture then. So he swooped down and was sitting on the scalp to drink some of the water. And the parrot is screaming chee, chee, chee. Cheeking. Because she wants to get out. She's bleeding, she's suffering, half her guts are coming out. Then one hunter hears the parrot screaming, takes his bow, shoots the arrow. He goes through the parrot and through the bowser, kills them both. They fall into the skull and they die there in the water. Both their atmans are taken from the body and taken to Yamilot. There they're together, husband and wife, in a subtle body before Yamaraj. And the accountants are saying they didn't suffer enough yet. These two were really nasty and they needed a suffer more. But then Yamura thought for a minute, said no, they're both free to go back to godhead now. How is it possible? I mean, you know, up to now have you heard anything religious? They did Anything they how they work back tonight. Even the husband, he said, back, back, back, back. How? What did I ever do to deserve to go back, back, back to God? I'm a very simple man. I didn't do anything good. He said, you see, you died in the water of the skull of a great devotee who every day used to read the fifth chapter Bhagavad Gita. Because of reading the fifth chapter Bhagavad Gita, his whole body, even his bones, even his scalp became purified. So that the water in the scalp was like a tirta water, like gantzes, holy water. It had become a holy water. By dying in that water, you're free from all your karma. Your karma is life free. You're free to go back to Godhead. So that is how potent Bhagavad Gita is. We can't imagine. I mean, if somebody dies in the skull water, they go by what to speak. If you read everyday Bhagavad Gita, why not read it every day? How long would it take to read 5th chapter? Any one chapter to read Bhagavad Gita every day. That alone is enough to get your kitchen for. So we have a regular program. Morning Bhagavatam class. Evening Bhagavad Gita chant. Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare. By the way, Bhakti Chuma gave me an oath. A little lady who's coming here? And 10 minutes I hope. Please expand. That was the last question. Hare Krishna Guru Maharaj, please with you Texas plane. Which is more important, serving Lord Sri Krishna or serving his devotees? You say? What's the difference? Good question. We want to please Krishna, right? Who wants to please Krishna? What is the purpose of serving? To please Ka. So what will please Ka more? The Ka gets more pleased when you serve his devotee than when you serve him. That's why serving the devotee is considered better. Krishna likes to serve his devotees. Krishna's devotees are doing a confidential service for him in this material world of delivering their fallen soul. So if somebody is helping them, then Krishna is right. Please. That's why Srila Prabhupada, serving the devotee is considered more important than serving the Lord. But it's another way of serving the Lord. When we serve the devotee, we're thinking that by doing this I'm serving Krishna, he'll be more pleased with me. So it's not any different. It just means that in this world the devotees need help. If you're helping a devotee, Krishna, appreciates that more because he would like to directly help. So he's using you as an instrument to help his devotees. Srila Prabhupada said to his disciples that I see all of you as representatives of my spiritual master. He has sent you in order to help me to fulfill his instructions to me. I should do it all by myself. But I'm not able to. He has sent you to help me. Even a spiritual master is seeing his disciples as the representative of his spiritual master with a very esoteric relationship. Whenever someone would come to see Sulabakti Siddhanta Sarasuddhi Thakur and offer their pranam their obeisances then he would reciprocate my offering with folded hands its obeisances and say I am your servant. Therefore I am sitting here in front of you. Why am I on an elevated seat? Just so I can see everybody. That's why. So you can see me. But actually I'm here as your servant. I am your servant here to serve you and your service to Ka. Please. Could Guru Maharaj explain about the pastime when Lord Chichitanya Mahala Prabhu first exhibited love for God Him. Thank you. Any more questions? You got any more on the slate? Slates are empty. There was one more slate. What is the significance of keeping your speeds in a pain? In other words, I read that finally we know Thakur never allowed anyone to see his beads. Why see the beads gather mystical strength. That's why it's more important to chant on beads. But when the beads remain, purpose of the bait is because the beads are long. We chant with 108 beads. So if you chant long, it may touch the ground. That's the main reason that the beads don't touch the ground. But also if people see the beads, some mystics are there some subtle entities. They can try to steal some of that mystical potency from the beads. How they do that, I don't know. But that's another reason. We're supposed to keep our beads hidden. We say Gayatri. We supposed to keep our hands and the mudras hidden under the cloth. Such things are mentioned in the shastra. How they do it? I guess we have to be a ghost. We don't want to find out. So we just follow. Sometimes we have to chant prabhupada. But sometimes chant with the beat sahas for initiation to something. It's mainly a practical thing. The subtle thing is not very well known. So I don't know how important that is. But the main thing is pure tandem bhaut Chaitanya first exhibited love of Godhead when he got initiated. How many on here are Yushayina? Very good. I hope that you all experience level of Godhead when you got initiated. But usually it doesn't happen so quick. But Lord Chaitanya, because he was Krishna himself in the mood of Brother Rani. Once he got initiated in Gaya in the state of Bihar in India by Israel Puri. And he started to manifest ecstatic love. Pure love for Vishnu. Tears were pouring from his eyes. He was dancing in ecstasy. So his first displaying the love of Ka was one. He got to be shamed. That is a turning point for all of us. We get the seed of devotion. And from that point our devotion can start to sprout and fructify and grow more. That was demonstrated by Lord Chaitanya. He was performing a Pindi shot for his deceased father. And he was worshipping the lotus footprint of Ganagar Vishnu in Gaya. So when he was offering, he was offering the food to the lotus footprint. And he was doing Abhishek. As he did Abishek, tears started pouring from his eyes. And he started to also feel so much love for the Lord. So after the initiation when he was worshipping the Lord then he was experiencing this love. So we also experience love. It awakens. It's already in our hearts dormant. But it awakens through the different impetuses of Guru's mercy, Vaishnava's mercy, Shiksha, Guru mercy to the mercy of Radh, Yatra, Janmastami Ran, Astami, Khadasi. Different holy months and holy days. Reading, hearing the pastimes of the Lord. Chanting Hare Krishna. Visiting the holy places like Mayapur and Vrindavan. Performing parikrama around Mayapur and Amandeep town, Brancha Bhumi. Hearing that all these kind of things can awaken higher and higher levels of devotion and ultimately love for Ka. But in Lord Chaitanya's case, it was like dammed up waiting to come. So as soon as he got initiated, as soon as he did his personal service for the lotus footprints of Vishnu. He became so mad with Lord of Kishna he decided to go to Vrindavan right now. Vrindavan, Biharil, Vrindavin. We have it out. I'm coming to Vrindavan to see the land of Krishna. Krishna, Krishna, Vrindavan. We hurry loud and he's running. And he's just running towards Vrindavan. Then there's a voice from the sky that says wait now is that the time to go to Vrindavan? Now you have to go back to Nagadev and start the sun. Keep down moving. Later you can go to Renam. Now Sachimata and all the devotees are waiting for you. You have to go back to Navadin. Then Lord he was all fired up to go to Vrindavan. Had to turn back and go to Navadip, start the Sankirtan movement. So on the way he stopped at Kanaya Nakshala. You know where Kenaygachale used to be in Bengal, Dawits and Biharos. After the partition of India, they reorganized the state. That is where he first manifested ecstatic love of Krishnam and separation. I got two more questions. So I'm not going to give the details of that. Unless I run out of finish these, then I have more time. Dear Maharaj, please accept my humble obeisances. Thank you very much. When we really have dire material problems, may we pray to Lord Ka to help us. I teach at school. My hand was broken by our pupils and pupils waited for me after school to throw stones at me. Apart from that, I know no teacher at present who does not hate the job. Thank you. I'm a group of teachers, life and child. So far I don't hear of any GROSS Old teachers. Dr. Hanson, can we pray for Krishna to help us? There's different types of devotion. There's devotion mixed with Karma and there's pure devotion. Devotion mixed with karma. We serve Krishna, but we want to get material benefit in pure devotion. We want to please Krishna and we simply want his worship. That's the only criteria. No conditions are given. So if we start to pray for Ka for material things, then it becomes devotion mixed with material things. So it becomes karma, mischief and Bhakti. That's the general idea. But some things we can pay for self preservation and good health or something that you can desire. Because otherwise helping you serve Ka. Even then, if Ka wants us to die, wants to take us out from here, we're willing to go. It's whatever he wants. So therefore, if we do pray something which appears to be like borderline or seems to be material, sometimes we pray for the help of our spiritual master. He's sick. We say, Krishna, please allow our spiritual master to stay here with us for some more time if we need his guidance. If it so please you, you qualify every place. You're Krishna. Ultimately if you want something different, we're not insisting. You know best. I would like to do some more service to you and not be stoned to death by my students. If it so, please you that I can somehow survive this and be able to do some more service for you. I will appreciate it. That would be a more Ka conscious way of presenting me. Dear Krishna, I am only 23 and I haven't got married yet. And I haven't experienced the joys of family life. And they're going to already kill me outside. Please allow me to live longer so that I enjoy life. That would be material, right? So there's ways of praying the Krishna in a more spiritual oriented way and the ways of doing it in a more materialistic oriented way. So if you do it, if you want to go do your service for Krishna. Krishna, I want to teach the students. I want to be friends with the students so that I can bring them closer to you. But they are so difficult. Please give me the intelligence how I can teach them in such a way that maybe I can give them also a little bit of Ka consciousness. In a public school you may think, well, we can't do that overtly. You can't teach tradition. But sometimes, maybe on Christmas you can give out a Christmas cookie. There's things you can give up. There may be certain things you can get away with. I don't know what the limits are. Or when you're giving an example, you don't have to mention the names. You could give an example from the Bhagavatam and just change the names. Instead of Prahlad and Machinya, you got Harry and Bill. So the teachings are the same, but just there's different ways. I know Siberian teachers, they do different things. But so there's ways you can pray to Krishna, which doesn't compromise if you want pure devotion. Because what's the problem if Krishna gives you material pain? Well, there's no problem for Krishna. He can give me that easy. The thing, if you try to please Krishna, he'll give you material things anyway. You don't even have to ask for them. But if you ask for them, it kind of reduces your whole relationship to a business deal. I serve you. What are you doing for me? Sometimes Krishna tests his devotees. Are you really serving me because of love or because you want something material from me? Whether Krishna does the test, maybe Lakshmitesh or Maya, daily test, just like Vipra Sudharma. He was so poor, his wife is pushing. Go and ask Krishna for something. When he went to see Krishna, he couldn't ask for anything. He just wanted to serve. Even when Krishna said gave me the flat rice, he couldn't ask for the. He couldn't give that would it not for Krishna. So he went all the way to see Krishna had such a wonderful time. But he never asked Krishna for anything material. When he went back to his house, there was a huge palace there. He passed the test and he used his house for Krishna. Served to say somebody who serves Krishna in this home and devotion service. They may not get so much in this material world but they have many material desires. It says the next slide Mishnah go to Swarga. They live in huge opulence, unlimited sense gratification. Fifty thousand years, hundred thousand years they get all their material desires. Sabbath says it's not like the dilutive but then some duois. I don't want it. We already hear most of the people raised to hand. They don't want to go to Swarna. They don't want to go to heavenly planets and do temporary vacation. They want to go back to Ka. Then they want to always qualify. You may really be in danger. Krishna, I want to serve you. I'm not ready right now. I don't feel like. If you want to take me back, well okay. Please help me to get back to you. But right now I'm in this crisis. What should I do? You get paid a Krishna for help. We just try to keep it oriented connected to serving Ka not just for some material preservation for Sanskrit. Then you won't have an obstacle. In the case of Uttara she prayed for her baby, not for herself. Krishna. Krishna. Jagatpa Deva Deva Jagatpa Deviate attacked by the Brahmastra of Asvattama. Where's Bakituda? Mars will become a 2:45. One last question here. Kurmah, please enlighten us on the pastime on Lord Jagannath in Ganesh. 4 I saw this at the Bhakti Vidatta manor in London and I missed the explanation. Thank you. Hare Krishna minister is also dying at the Melbourne, Australia in Mayapur. I asked the priest in Mayapur what's the history they gave me. I didn't read it anywhere. So what I heard from the priest was maybe a little vague. And there was some devotee in Jagannath Puri who was a devotee of Ganesh. Today someone asked me that if they worship Krishna and stop worshipping Ganesh, it's bad luck. I was explaining to them that actually all the Devas are in Guru and all the Devas are in Ka. So if you worship Krishna automatically all the Devas are worshipped. So by this devotee had a doubt he was attached to worshipping Ganets. So then Ganets Appeared to him and told him that you should worship Krishna. Jagannath is the supreme Lord. And the devotee went to worship Krishna. So like then Krishna Jagannath, suddenly he turned his form and showed this form of elephant like Ganesh. So the devotee sees Ganesh, tells him to worship Krishna, sees Krishna, transfer Ganesh. So it's like showing the body that when you worship me, you should know Ganesh is also within me. All the Devas are in me. Something. That's what the Pujari told me. So he has time like that. But there may be some more details which I don't notice. I'm hearing it like that. This is the one. There's a 22 or so different beshas, different forms that Jagannath takes. Soa, brown Chandra form, Padma forms, golden form, elephant form. Remember all of them. Here a poster shows the different forms. Each one has got some history behind it. That's why some days in the year you see Jagannath with a different form. Bhati Chinmarsh will be here in five or 10 minutes. I'll be available after this for a Friday personal darshan. In the meantime, let's all enchant them. All they do is finish all your Japan. Who didn't finish the Japan chant. One round of Japan. If anybody wants me to check their Japa later.
