This is an excerpt from an evening session of the "Safari 5th Day in Govardhan 2024" (recorded April 2024) where multiple devotees (including Singheshwara Prabhu and Kavichandra) discuss devotional challenges and share personal memories. The chunk includes a brief doctrinal reference to Rupa Goswami on hope/asubandha (lack of taste but strong hope), requests for Guru Katha, anecdotes about Jaipataka Swami visiting devotees in hospital, devotees' illnesses (dengue, malaria), participation in committees/parikramas, and a lighthearted Ganga-wrestling/swimming story involving Western and Malaysian devotees.
What to do if I have no taste for something in Ka consciousness and looking deeply into my heart, I see that I don't want to want.
I feel I don't want to work. Hope.
Rupa Goswami says hope. Asubandha. It's a section of the nectar devotion. And Rupa Goswami has exact prayer. He says, I have no taste. I don't have any attraction nor do I have any attraction for the process to get the attraction. But I have great hope. And even this hope is causing me pain because. But that. That then you're going to get it because you have the desire really strong.
Can I ask a second?
Yes.
Yeah, go ahead.
Okay. We all miss Guru Maharaj very much. And I think maybe you can tell us stories of him. Give me us some Guru Katha.
I didn't hear the question very clear.
You want to hear Tata? About what?
About your life.
My life?
Yeah.
You and Guru Maharaj.
You and Guru Maharaj.
Isn't there Jaipattaka Maharaj? I had one nice interaction. What happened was I was, you know, I got dengue and I was in hospital for a few days with dengue fever.
When I was in once I was having dengue and I was in hospitalized. Sorry. Or may hospital admit.
So that time Jaipataka Swami wrote to me. He said, you know, he said, I've been in hospital the last three weeks. So I thought it was very humorous. So he always finds some humor about everything. It's a wonderful quality.
Yeah. I was in the hospital with malaria. He came to visit me also. I think I was unconscious. I didn't. I know he came, but there was no but he was very concerned.
I remember hospital.
He recognized my foolishness. So he was very kind to me all the time, like a father and always tried to encourage me. So because of gbc, I, you know, spent a lot of time. We were on one committee for a few years and then a couple years on the Navaji Parikama. We were the only sannyasis that went.
Or Navati Parikrama Mehamlok Donohi.
So he was always, where's Kavichandra? You know, come and speak. Now I get envious because there's so many others speaking. And I remember well, I had my day a couple years. I gave all the classes, at least half of them.
I have a nice pastime. It's concerning one of my Adoboti friend, Devory Singheshwara Prabhu, who's regional secretary of Malaysia. So what happened was, you know, devotees we like we always used to go to the Ganga, especially in the 70s, 80s, 1980s. We were all really young, and we'd like to go to Ganga, and we'd jump off the Ganga and swim in the Ganga every. Whenever we come to Mayapur. Okay.
In 1970s, 80s.
So there was this one group of devotees, they were Americans. And this one guy, he challenged Singheshwara. You know, he said, let's wrestle together. Let's have a wrestling match. So you're challenged like that, you can't really refuse. So Senge wrestled with him for some time, but he didn't defeat him. Was with the Malaysian devotees. There was this other group, Western devotees, and Singheshwara and other devotees from Malaysia. They came there with Jaipataka Swami. So when the other devotee won, it was like a victory for them. Them. And they were feeling so good.
