Jayapataka Swami explains Vaishnava theology using a candle metaphor: Ka is the original supreme person, and his expansions like Maha Vishnu and Krishna are simultaneously one with and different from him. Each expansion knows the one before it, but none fully understands the original.

I say the Lord is one. But he lights a candle, can light many other candles. All the candles have the same candle power. But one is original. So Ka is the original supreme personality of God. And the Doita is His extension. But they come. Gods come simultaneously one and different with God. Ka can understand everything. And he exhibits his will through his intention. That's why they say that one God, what he has another one. So sin is something which is one brother on one hand, Ka and Maha Vishnu are not different. Krishna can know Maha Vishnu and Mahavishnu cannot know everything about Ka. How this works is beyond our ability to understand.
