Śrīmad Bhāgavatam Class (ŚB. 2.5.20) || Russia #JayapatakaSwamiArchives

Audio transcript of a Śrīmad Bhāgavatam class by Jaya Pataka Swami (SB 2.5.20). The speaker translates and purports the verse, argues that the Supreme is a personal God (Bhagavān) accessible to surrendered devotees and criticizes impersonalist interpretations covered by māyā. He explains guru–disciple dynamics (reception, śikṣā vs dikṣā, guru‑paramparā), describes initiation transfer and related rites (saṁskāras, upanayana), and recounts Vaishnava hagiographical stories (Narahari Ṭhākura, miraculous ladū feeding by the deity to the child Raghunandan, festivals). The lecture mixes doctrinal teaching, practical ceremony remarks, and devotional anecdotes.
My Canto 20, Chapter 5, Text 20 no. Canto 2, Chapter 5 Text Obra Narada the Superseer, the Transcendental Lord is beyond the perception of the material senses of the living entities because of the above mentioned three modes of nature, but he is the controller of everyone, including Me. In the Bhagavad Gita 7.24 25 the Lord has declared very clearly that the impersonalist who gives more importance to the transcendental rays of the Lord as Brahma Jyoti and who concludes that the absolute Truth is ultimately impersonal and only manifests a form at a time of necessity, is less intelligent than the personalist. However much the impersonalist may be engaged in studying the Vedanta, the fact is that such impersonalists are covered by the above mentioned three modes of material nature. Therefore they are unable to approach the transcendental personality of the Lord. The Lord is not approachable by everyone because he is curtained by His Yoga Maya potency. But one should not wrongly conclude that the Lord was formerly unmanifested and has now manifested Himself in the human form. This misconception of the formlessness of the supreme personal Godhead is due to the Yoga Maya curtain of the Lord and can be removed only by the supreme will as soon as the conditioned soul surrenders unto Him. The devotees of the Lord who are transcendental to the above mentioned three modes of material nature can see the all blissful transcendental form of the Lord with their vision of love in the attitude of pure devotional service. Thus ends the second Canto fifth chapter, twentieth verse translation Purport by His divine grace.
Cookie in emotion. Emotion.
Tells something about qualification of a disciple, he said. Spiritual understanding is nothing like an electric charge from the master to the disciple foolishly claimed by some propaganda mongers. This is Cantor 2, Chapter 3, Text 20. Everything is full of sense and logic between the master and disciples, possible only when the reception is submissive and real. In the Chaitanya Chaitanya it said that one should receive the teaching of Lord Chaitanya with intellect and full senses so that one can logically understand the great mission. Chapter two, chapter one, text 10 for the for advancement of material knowledge there is a need for personal ability in researching, ability, aptitude. But in the case of spiritual knowledge all progress depends more or less on by the mercy of the spiritual master to 1:10 purport first right in the very beginning the spiritual master must be satisfied with the disciples. Only the spiritual master satisfies with the disciple and then his knowledge automatically manifests before the student of spiritual science. First Burger six, seven lions Different. How are you, sir? What is this scandal? The spiritual master must be said so of the disciple. Only then is knowledge automatically manifest before the student of spiritual science. The process should not, however, be misunderstood to be something like magical feats. Provided spiritual master acts like a magician, injects spiritual knowledge into the disciple in the travel budget. The bona fide spiritual master reasonably explains everything to the disciple and the authorities of Vedic wisdom. A disciple can receive such teachings not exactly intellectually, but by submissive inquiries and service attitude. The idea is that both the spiritual man and the disciple must be born of fire. In this case, the spiritual master Sukhdev Goswami is ready to recite exactly what he learned from his great father Srila Vyas Dev and the disciple Maharaj Parikshit is the great devotee of Lord Krishna. So like this supreme Lord is beyond the perception of material senses. Because we're covered by the three modes of material nature. We hear from the spiritual master from the scriptures for practicing devotees, then many things are revealed to us. We can see the Lord first by hearing. Then eventually the Lord reveals himself visibly to us. Some impersonalists say that absolute truth is.
Impersonal, not impersonal for the chips an.
Hour and that the Lord, the impersonal truth manifests a form when it's necessary in the Satyaguna. So Prabhupada here said this is complete speculation. And this is because they are bewildered by the yoga Maya Mahamaya. So our understanding is Brahmachyoti. There's the. There's the Paramatma and there's Bhagavan. There's the three forms and all are simultaneously existing is the complete form. In this way the devotees are directly relating with Satchitananda Krishna and they're engaging in devotional service to his Lord's feet.
It's a journey of platform solution of Nevada.
How long? When you're open question first, there was two other devotees who didn't sit in the fire Yaga. One of them is sitting on the Yagya. So the spiritual masters and devotees they understand the Lord in his transcendental position. Therefore they also consider to be transcendental that by Bhakti Yoga you are in.
The transcendental platform Stickachi possessing Bhakti Yoga, Transcendental Forma and.
Above the three modes of material nature. Krishna personally was the guru of Arjuna and taught Arjuna the Bhagavad Gita Krishna.
Guru N Arjuna Imo Pallada Bhagavad Gita.
He spoke even the battlefield of transcendental knowledge, we're still reading that and getting illumination and wisdom and that Krishna to Brahma to Narad. The Guru Parampara is coming to Chaitanya Mahaprabhu coming to the and his followers are still continuing on this knowledge to spread the message of Lord Chaitanya to recognition source. So this is the process of Guru Paramparampara. We take the initiation in the Krishna conscious movement. We're connected with the Guru Parampar. As long as we follow the instruction, the orders that we were given, our connection is very strong. And this probably would say that when somebody is initiated, they're going back to Godhead. Many different literatures by Lord Chaitanya's followers discuss the situation. When a spiritual master leaves his responsibility find a shelter from another spiritual master. In the same line, if someone can't find a spiritual master that they have faith in to be fully qualified spiritual master, like a first mate they had, he said, well, if they find someone like a spiritual master, appears to them like a spiritual master. Spiritual master, but bona fide. But for them, for them maybe don't have a full faith, but they feel like a spiritual master, then they should. If he is favorably, if he's mercifully inclined, merciful to the devotee and better to serve Ka always as a servant of the servant and take shelter of such devotees. Whether one has full faith or not full faith. But serving a devotee has always been recommended. One may take a Siksha shelter, serve the Siksha guru like a Siksha guru and offer service to Krishna through that Siksha guru. Following the instruction of Tiva Goswami. It always be Namuda, servant of the servant. It says one can also get the mantra again if they want. The Sanskrit is mantra means again taking mantra. But in that case, it's not like they're starting over from their beginning of spiritual life. It's just that they're receiving the mantra from the guru they've taken shelter of. And they are transferring by hearing the mantra again, they're transferring the responsibility of Diksha Guru to this. And this way he has the full responsibility as a Diksha Guru. That whatever activities that's designed for us is also now fully responsible for the karma. This is what we've understood from these different texts. People are happy to be serving our guru as shelter. Someone would like also to have the full Diksha protection. So that's the ceremony we're having Today, as we're transferring the dictionary responsibility to the. I'm accepting Vikrami as my initiated disciple. Is that correct? So that's the. That's basically what's happening. There was some pregnant lady last night that came and she's eight months pregnant. I was also. It was time for her to have the Srimanta Nayana party on the hair sacrifice. So we didn't make the arrangements either. But it's good to follow these Samskaras.
Also and we're cool.
This is fellow Face Samskay because it says for the Grihasta, for the Brahmacharyas and Yasis, they're supposed to do some austerities and penances, are supposed to give charity and sacrifices. So these are like we call Dasam Samskara, 10 different main sacrifices. End of pregnancy. End of pregnancy. There's Girth Samskara, there's a first grains. There's an giving the name, just giving the first grains, cutting the hair for the first time. Beginning the education keeps the Grihasta's little Krishna conscious, reminds them that everything they begin, they begin offering worship to Krishna. These especially are gathered in the Sad Kriya Sanskar de Pika written by Gopal.
Bhatta Goswami, Supiscus of Sad Kriya Saradivika and episode Gopal Bhatta Goswami.
So even one of the Goswamis who's like Sannyasi wearing his. Like Babaji, he took the time to write all these Samskaras for the Grihastas. Yeah, after the fifth year, initially the parents try to give a boost to their. To their children and they give us a special spiritual boost.
The colon of Posoka is right to the top.
It's also nice preaching, you know, even other people like to see when their family is coming together, gives an excuse. All the ladies can wear their best sarees, can have a feast. The Prabhupada mentioned that in the Vedas having children and having a family, this is something very. This is a joyful situation, very auspicious. And I can't remember the exact words right now, but it's in that sheet I give you. But there's a very nice quote where he said this is. It's always something welcome in our Ka consciousness that Vihasas are having Ka conscious children.
The neck of the children of Alakazzva find Nafisa nuts.
So wasn't able to do that one for you here, but I don't know if you have some priests. It's good that he can do these things for the.
Motion monies.
He was the first to organize initiation of fundraising. Went back to Bengal. Then he established many different gurus. Sometimes they say there were chosanti mahantas or 64 gurus. Some say there are even more than that. He would make even someone was not a Brahmana. There were some Kshatriyas, some Vaishyas. He made them also gurus nap spreading the Krishna conscious movement. Which was a big thing in those days. Like this one more Chitanya lab. And the last person who was last main big associate who was left was Narahari Thakur.
Like that.
So he was one of the little Chaitanyan. He lived a long time. So when Srinivasacharya came back from Vrindavan, he went to get blessings. The guidance from Srinivasach from one king wanted to take initiation from him from Srinivasacharya. But if he becomes a guru of a king, then he should be a Grihasta. Because he has to guide the king in his Grihasta affairs. Also you can't tell the king go to somebody else to give Rehasta guidance. I've seen in the Vedas some of the like Kathilia different in the Mahabharata. It mentions the role of the king's guru. Raja Guru is very big role.
Both Verite Mahabharata Andrino Stasso Pisoche Lukon Chito Guru.
Is he the only one that can tell the king something? I mean, he can order him to do something. Others can tell him. But you know, he may or may not follow. But the Raj Guru says he should follow. Would also have like his own spies, his own disciples, other disciples, other represent in each of the ministries of the government and oversee what they're doing out of the government. This is a totally Brahminical observation that they're doing things right. So if he found some minister cheating, he could tell the king. Nobody could do anything to make the whole kingdom Krishna conscious also. Or try to make it if the people were receptive. So then Shrinivas Charia asked Mara Hari Thakur whether I should take this role, should I get married? I had no intention, no particular desire to be married. But if it was good for his devotional service, then he'll do anything become Rajguru. Make the kingdom Krishna consciousness. So this Narahari Thakur, he wrote a book called Krishna Bhajanamrita or he describes. He gives some advice and some sensitive issues in the Guru Tattva area. He said that even Time ago, Chaitanya, some gurus had actually gone off or had left their duties. This is really amazing because just when we had these problems in the 80s, 1980s, somebody gave me this book. It was unpublished. It was, you know, what you call out of print book. Very old copy, all brown. So the Sanskrit scholars help to translate the Sanskrit part of it. So there he gave many practical instructions about what to do under different circumstances.
In case doubt, no partitioning follows the private realization of Jatastone.
So like this, we following all these different instructions of our previous centuries. One interesting thing happened. Marahari Thakur, when he left, he was like the last associate. So when he left, it was a big thing for all the disciples, grand disciples, and then the other devotees that were present. So because there no Internet, no phones, people only heard about, you know, some months later, weeks later. So they decided to have a big Tituba festival on the first anniversary of his departure.
Italy.
So many disciples of associates and great Dubai devotees in the second or third generation, they all came to his house to perform the ceremony of Tirubhav, the disappearance.
Ceremonial.
And an amazing thing happened. I mean really amazing. You want to hear it? Who wants to hear? Nara Harichakur personally appeared on his Vyasasan. Pretty nice. And he was there like the whole morning giving darshan, answering questions, talking blessing with devotees. So when I heard that, I was so nice. Clear up any doubts that people have to be. But anyway, there was a special liver of Narahari Taku, resurrected from the. Came down again from the spiritual world to be with the devotees, to encourage them. Well, that gave a lot of encouragement, that really built up the faith. And a lot of devotees really encouraged everyone. So they still have the seat where he came back. He used to live in Kulinagram. There's two cities very famous for Vaishnavas. Not sure, maybe I think it's the other one. They're all from this Sri Khanda. Sri Khanda, yeah. For me, my grammar is another thing that's also famous. But this Sri Khanda.
Sri Khandha.
So it's very. It's about 10km from. Many amazing things happened.
There.
Was one, the one Mahunanandan Prabhu. He was. His son was named Raghunandan. So when Raghunanda was six years old, he got his Upanayana. That's when they get the Brahman. But later it's not the full initiation, just they only get one mantra. When we give Pancharatric initiation, we give six more mantras in that one. But anyway, with that he could help his father in the DD room and things. So his father had some emergency. Some disciple was dying. Our son had to go off to see a disciple. So he didn't have time to train his son how to do all the pujas. Till I come back, just take the plate. They have ladu Gopal. So they have to offer him ladus every day. The sweet balls. You just take this and ask Gopal to eat it. And then after he eats it, you take it back to your mother. The plate. So mother gave him the plate. Took it to the daily midnight maton. And then maybe like 30 centimeters, 3 centimeters. Not too very small.
3 centimeter.
And he had the plane. He asked Gopal, please take this. But then the Gopal wasn't eating them. So the gun started crying. So why are you crying? Father said, I offer this to you and you're going to eat them. You're not eating them. What am I doing? Wrong person needs their letters. According to your faith. I will supplicate. She had so much faith. He said, you want me to eat these? He said, yes. So indeed he became like a little baby and ate the lettuce. Then the boy took back the empty plate and gave to his mother. The mothers used to when the father offered the Lord to just look at the prasad. And he'd come back with a full plate of laraves. The mother said, we're all a lot of anything wrong. This is going on for some days. When the father came back then she said that this is going on. I don't know what to think. Give him again today. I'll try to see if I can find out what's happening.
There is great photos.
So again the boy took an offer to the Lord. Lord became like a baby and was eating the ladu. Father was hiding behind in the daily room and looked around to see what's happening. He saw like devious like a baby eating a ladoo. His face shocked him. So like he like gasped. He was shocked. Immediately Gopal heard that it came again marvel.
Gopal to Bramuran.
Then the father came out and saw the ladders in his hand. But half eaten. Red handed. With the proofs in your hand it's half eaten ladder. You ate half of it. Then the nighttime Raghunatha. Of course he heard. And the Lord of the Lord just looks at the prasad. And he said he doesn't. But the word got around him. This devotee is so pure. He has so much faith that Krishna is taking from his hand. A lot are eating it Then Raghunanda became like a really famous boy. How many boys are there that Didi is taking from his hand and eating? Didi became very famous also. No? When they gave him, they put ladu in his hand. Half ladu.
No.
After that they put a half ladu on the deity's hand. Showing like he's eating the ladu.
You to God.
They walk all the way from his place. Near to Panihati. Just other side of the river from Panihati. His ashram is kanakula Krishnanata. Maybe 20 km from. It's a long, fairly long walk to go all the way up to Katwa. Beyond Mayapur, to Katwa to Shikanda. Maybe over 100, 150 kilometers. The father see Abhiram Thakur is also very famous devotee had children. He would go and pay obeisance to the children. The children died if there was not the proper shaling like imitation. If he played obeisance to would explode, become in dust. His pranam was so powerful that if he weren't worthy of it. If you weren't worthy of it. So any devotees saw him, they bow down first. So he came up and he saw the word came. He's coming to see Raghunanda. So the parents got frightened, you know. Because even Nithyananda's child died. We don't want our child to die by his Pranam is very one of great devotees. But you know, parents. Parents, you know, they always have so much fear for their children. So they sent Raghunandan away. Naviram came there after walking, you know, so many days like a week walking. Oh, sorry, it's not here. He was a little bit frustrated. He went into one mango orchard. Mango orchard. Orchard is like. Like a. Like. Not like instead of forest but you. A plantation of trees. It's called orchard. That's all mango orchard. Mean they plant all the mangoes. Okay. So then he sitting there chanting his job. But then why I came all the way? Why am I able to see Ramanandan heard that he had come. He wanted to see him. So he went to that mango garden, became very ecstatic, picked him up and gave him a hug. Both of them were hugging each other. They started dancing and ecstasy. And Kirtan, he's a portion. So Raghunana, as a little child he was wearing his silver ankle beltshin. But here chair champ was dancing so ecstatically. But somehow this ankle belt flew off his feet and it landed in the garden in the courtyard of one devotee like 2km away. Here's your idea how they were chanting it? They say they still have the same ankle bells. You go there, put it on your head. They say it's the same ones. So, like this. This garden where the Raghunanan Thakur and Abhiram Thakur met. They made that like a special Vaishnava park. Every year they have a big mela there. A big festival. Tens of thousands of people gather. They build a temple where the two met, have a temple. They take deities there. From the main town, main village to this orchard. Every year for that festival.
Of Tazi Grin of Toshi Park.
There's many things connected with Nala Ali Thakur and the three came down from the spiritual world to deliver the fallen souls session. I saw the pregnant lady came. She's also the one for sitting in the. Just the regular. She's just changing upstairs. She's changing in sugar right here. But she. She's the one that was initiated. Anyway, she needs to. So I mean. I guess she was initiated without the idea or something.
No, no. She's.
She's initiated with the idea. Yes. Although we don't have the time. Didn't make all the. So we said purification mantras. Any question in the class?
