A short lecture by Jaya Pataka Swami explaining who Mayavadis are: followers of a doctrine (Mayavada) that attributes the soul’s ignorance to an illusory energy which, if removed, reveals the soul as God. The speaker criticizes this view as equating illusion with the Supreme and says Mayavadis offend Krishna and his devotees and hinder genuine devotional service; devotees are advised to avoid their association.

Foreign why they are called as Mayavadis? Because they say that covered the eyes. Because they say that the illusory energy have covered the eyes of the condition soul. But if this illusion is removed, then the soul, they realize that in fact they are the God. So in this way, the illusory energy cover up the eye of the God. They are putting the illusory energy on the equal position as the supreme personality of God here. That's why they are called Mayavadis. And they are committing offense to Krishna and his devotees for this offense. Normally, it's very hard for them to achieve devotional service. Devotees should abandon the association of Mayavadis. So devotees, they should abandon the association of Mayavadis. They destroy constitutional pronsity of serving supreme because they destroyed the constitutional propensity of serving the supreme personality of the Goddess of Vishnu.
