This is a podcast titled "AI is Making Software Development Obsolete (Almost)" recorded in March 2025. The content features Jim Carter III as the primary host discussing the transformative impact of AI-driven software development platforms, highlighting how these tools enable rapid app creation and democratize software development for non-developers. The episode includes interaction with another speaker who shares experiences using AI in agency settings, making it a conversational exchange focused on AI's role in software innovation and business applications.
Hey there, welcome back to the Prompt. I'm your host, Jim Carter. Glad to have you here. Today we're jumping into the quickly changing world of AI-driven software development. If you're new here or haven't heard me talk about it before, this is an AI-powered podcast where we explore what's possible with AI, and I share my personal efforts in pushing the technology forward. Remember when building a custom app or website meant hiring a whole dev team and burning through your budget? Well, those days are fading fast, my friend. AI platforms are now letting non-developers build apps and websites, saving time and cutting costs. This means agencies can offer advanced services without needing large teams. I've been a software engineer for 28 years now. I've built some pretty incredible tech in nearly three decades and have more than put in my 10,000+ hours. When I choose to code, I'm pretty efficient and get things done fairly quickly. An average site might take me a week or two, A SaaS backend maybe 3-5 weeks, and so on. Now picture me with my jaw on the floor the first time I tried one of these agent-based app builders and brought an idea to life in about 10 minutes. Idea, prompt, watch AI build it, drink coffee, deploy. It's that easy. And this is big. No code and AI-driven platforms are normalizing software creation, making it easier to build websites, apps, and even automate entire workflows without a massive dev team. And it's giving agencies, startups, and nearly everyone a new edge. Platforms like Replit and Lovable let non-developers and developers alike create custom apps with AI-assisted recommendations. Agencies, for example, can prototype 60-70% faster, saving both time and money. It can even help win that proposal faster than the competition.
I was talking to a friend in sales for his agency, and he said that during a call with a client who asked for a specific feature, he AI-generated the feature to close the deal on the call. That's crazy. In the past two weeks, I've prototyped six ideas, and I have two more I'm working on right now. I want you to think about what.
It would be like to do the same because excuses are over. AI tools are making software development accessible to non-developers through no-code and low-code platforms. These platforms allow users without extensive coding experience to build and customize applications using simple drag-and-drop tools. For instance, Bolt.new is an AI-powered platform that quickly prototypes and deploys full-stack applications, enabling rapid development without needing deep technical expertise. AI-powered platforms significantly reduce development time by automating repetitive tasks and minimizing manual intervention. This speeds up project timelines and ensures the efficient delivery of high-quality software. AI-driven tools can generate code snippets or entire functions, reducing development time and allowing developers to focus on higher-level tasks. The ability to generate features in real-time can improve client interactions by providing immediate solutions and boosting customer satisfaction. this can lead to more effective sales and client engagement strategies. As AI technology advances, it is expected to continue changing the software development process, offering faster development cycles, better user experiences, and new opportunities for innovation across industries. We could see further democratization of development and increased reliance on AI for complex software solutions. The way I see it, there's endless potential with AI-driven software development platforms. Of course, there are challenges and considerations as the industry evolves, but the benefits are undeniable.
I'm testing this technology and walking my clients through it so that they too can innovate and use the potential of AI, offering more time to focus on what they do best. This kind of tech is what I'm leading at Baira Agency. We're launching a new first-of-its-kind service called Baira AI, and it's awesome. This is custom AI built for businesses like yours. If you're interested in hearing more, check out baira.ai where I've got a waitlist for demos. And if you found today's discussion thought-provoking, join me and many other AI fans and leaders over at my AI Slack community where we go deeper into these topics. It's my favorite way to keep these conversations going and share my latest AI findings to ensure no one gets left behind.
We've now nearly crossed 70 members in this private community, and it's a spot where I'm sharing all the great stuff I find, my own projects I'm building, and even holding office hours for members to work through projects and blocks together. My goal is to take the biggest topics and expand on them with this show, But the Slack channel is where the real magic happens. If it would bring you value, it would mean the world to me to have you there. Right now, the investment is basically the price of Netflix. Check it out at fastfoundations.com/slack. As always, I'm grateful for your time, and you can count on me to bring fresh, timely topics to your feed. Thanks for tuning in, and let's keep pushing those boundaries one prompt at a time.
