Hi, everyone. Jeff Duden here. Welcome to another podcast episode where we dive into the ideas and strategies that help us build lasting legacies and successful businesses. Today, I want to talk about something that is critically important to me. Personal currency. Let me ask you a question. Have you ever thought about what makes some people attract opportunities while others struggle? What's that secret sauce that makes some individuals so influential and sought after? The answer lies in personal currency. So what exactly is personal currency? It's made up of three critical components. Number one, relationship equity. Number two, reputational equity. And number three, your presence and commitment in the moment when you're sitting right in front of somebody. So let's break these down. First, relationship equity. This is built over time and and is rooted in your history. Your consistency, integrity, trust, and the grace that you show in others. And that can be in personal relationships or interactions. It can be in business relationships. Think about the relationships you'd nurtured over the years. Why do people trust you? It's because you've shown up consistently. You've brought value to the collaboration or the situation, and you've demonstrated integrity over and over again. You've deposit in their bank of relationship. Next, we have reputational equity. Your reputation is simply the relationship that you have with people you haven't yet met. It's shaped by the content you create. Articles, blogs, social media posts, and by what others say about you. Are you the person people refer to when they need something important? What do people expect when your name comes up? That's your reputation, simply. And finally, presence and commitment. Are you the right person at the right moment of influence or impact? Do people feel heard and understood by you? Are you invested in their success? It's about making an impact, being there when it counts, and ensuring that the value you bring is clear and substantial. And are your asks reasonable? And is the exchange fair in both the short and the long term? Now let's see how personal currency plays out in the real world. Celebrities get paid for their endorsements. It's because they have equity with people that they haven't yet met. Why do the sharks on Shark Tank get the best deal opportunities? It's their personal currency and their expectation that they will bring value to any business transaction or business deal. And they've built this reservoir of trust, reputation and consistent presence that others want to tap into. Personal currency is unique because it's infinite, unlike real money. The more you invest in your personal currency, the more it grows. It compounds at an accelerating rate. Kind of like Bitcoin. If you are willing to invest the energy. You can create it, you can bank it and you can monetize it. But just like with real money you can go bankrupt with a few bad moves. Years of building an exemplary life and reputation can be wiped out by one big mistake. So here's the solution. Start investing in your personal currency today. Build your relationship equity by being consistent and trustworthy. Enhance your reputational equity by creating valuable content ensuring others speak well of you and always be present and committed in every interaction. Remember, personal currency isn't just about what you get in return. It's about the lasting impact you leave and the legacy you build. When you invest your personal currency in others they should benefit and they should prosper. So ask yourself how rich is your personal currency to you and to the people that you invested in? Thanks for tuning in. Keep building, keep growing and let's leave a legacy together. Until next time, this is Jeff Duden.
