Hey, it's Ben Greenfield here. And you may wonder why I'm standing outside in cold Spokane, Washington, with my shirt off. Well, one of the things that you may have learned about recently@BenGreenfieldFitness.com is that short cold exposure can actually help you burn fat a little bit faster. But there's lots of other things that you can do to burn fat, because burning fat and losing weight and maintaining a nice, trim, lean appearance is a lifestyle. It's not a special diet or workout. So you're here at my house, my kids and my dogs running around. But I'm going to show you some of the little things that I do throughout the day to burn extra calories. And it all adds up to keep my metabolism going fast. So let's go. Follow me this way. Number one, I stand as much as possible. A lot of times you'll find me at a standing workstation when I'm working at my computer. Even though this may not be possible for you to do at work, you can always break yourself away from sitting down and just do a simple exercise to bump up your metabolism. One of the ones that I do is jumping jacks. I'll stop and do jumping jacks sometimes 20, 25 for every hour. And that adds up. Research has shown that those little bursts of activity will really keep you going. Okay, I want to show you something else. Come on into the kitchen. You need a quick snack. Don't grab candy or crackers. Look for something that's protein and fat. I'll show you one of the things that I will eat that can keep me satiated for hours on end. I take a little bit protein and I grab a little bit of coconut milk, and I grab a little bit of almond butter. And then to stabilize my blood sugar levels, I top it all off with a little bit of cinnamon. One of those in the afternoon will keep you going all day long without your blood sugar getting thrown out of whack. Now, follow me. The next thing we're gonna go is this. I'm not paid by this company, by the way, but this is a SodaStream. It makes sparkling water. You fill up a bottle with water, you bump it onto there, and it carbonates the water. Well, carbonated water is great for satiating the appetite. People who drink it before they eat lose a lot of weight. Research has shown that. Okay, follow me. I have a pull up bar in my house. Now, you don't have to have a pull up bar. You can have elastic bands, you can have dumbbells. But see, that pull up bar. Every time that I walk underneath this pull up bar I have a rule that I need to do. One pull up now for you. It could be a set of dumbbells, it could be elastic bands. Having a rule like that is really nice because it keeps you going throughout the day. Okay, follow me. I forgot something in the kitchen. I want to show you another thing that you can do that's nice and healthy and low calorie, especially if you're addicted to soda. Take something like a juice powder. This is like an antioxidant juice powder. This one's called Solar synergy. Talked about it@bengreeful fitness.com and I throw some effervescent tablets in there. I could put that in the carbonated water. I can also put it in a regular glass of water. And again it keeps the appetite satiated, low calorie, healthy thing that you'll find me drinking all throughout the day here at the house. Okay, next.
