2010 Ironman Coeur D' Alene Camp Video!

YouTube video (May 20, 2010) titled "2010 Ironman Coeur D' Alene Camp Video!" created/uploaded by Jeffrey Jaime, CISSP. The clip records Ben Greenfield leading an Ironman training camp in Coeur d'Alene where participants (Jim, Judy, Craig, Dennis, Christine, Luke, Coach Garcia and others) discuss favorite and toughest parts of the week: double-loop practice rides on the Ironman course, hill training, open-water swims in Coeur d'Alene Lake (cold/choppy conditions), brick runs, and strength training. The tone is conversational and informal, with on-camera banter, cap giveaways, and coach feedback.

Walk it over.
I live among.
Where I trip where they sing.
Anybody have any comments on the water or the first?
What do you guys think? Get ready to get rid of.
These things. Get louder. Good. You guys staying in relatively a good zone for intensity? I think so. Okay, good.
It's not over.
The ride going so far. That's pretty good. I have a little trouble on the hills coming up. Yeah.
These things get louder.
These things get louder.
Strength training day.
And now.
All right. So, Jim, what do you have coming around here to you? Right behind you, Stuffed grape leaves here. Nice. Nice. Those look pretty good. So what was your. What was your favorite part about today? Favorite part today was. Was after I got done with the brick run is to partway through the brick runs, go jump in Coeur d' Alene lake. Nice. Nice. What was your favorite part of the week, Jim? Probably the double loop on the ironman course kind of shows you what's out there and kind of gives you experience about what to expect. So you're not going to be surprised on race day. Nice. Good job this week.
Judy, you ordered the same thing I did. The lumpy muffin. Pretty lumpy. How is it? It's pretty lumpy. Yeah. It's got apples and raisins and walnuts. Everything else in there. So are you looking forward to the strength training today? Absolutely. Do you do a lot of strength training? Well, I have your dominator package. Oh, yeah. So you're doing it like doing yours twice a week. Awesome. What are you looking forward today? Other than that?
I guess more hills. More hills on the bike? On a foreign bike? I'm used to, but more foreign. What's been your favorite part so far? Oh, well, running is always my favorite, but I have to tell you, I overcame the ice and the lake. I feel like a polar bear survivor. Nashville, Tennessee representing.
All right, Craig, what was the toughest part of this week for you?
It was the second loop. Second loop on the. On the double loop? Yeah. I ran out of gas there towards the end. And what was your favorite part?
Probably either today or the first bike ride. The hills. Yeah. What did you enjoy about today? The climbs for sure. You're a hill guy. Yep. And are you gonna do Ironman Coeur d'? Alene? I am. Have you done an ironman before? Just a half. This will be my first full. All right, cool. Good luck, Craig. Thank you, Lisa. What you eatin there?
I think it's sunrise Muffin. Nice. Yeah. We're here at Java in Coeur d'. Alene. Last day of camp. What are you looking forward to today other than being done working out some more hills? Big hilly ride. Big hilly ride. The big downhill on the big hilly ride. That's what I'm looking forward to. Cool. Running off the bike bend. What's been your favorite part so far? Definitely doing the course. Knowing that the course isn't quite as frightening as everybody makes it out to be and knowing that I can do it and seeing the run course too. I'm getting lost. So, Dennis, what was the best part this week? I like the bike ride. I like the swim drills that you put us through and I like to finish when we're all done. Nice. You gonna do Iron Man? I am, yeah. I'm gonna do this year's Ironman and probably gonna do Lake Stevens also. And what was the worst part of this week? The swim. The swim in the lake? Yeah, yeah. Because it was just choppy. I was, you know, used to it. So other than that, it was a good. It was very enjoyable. Awesome. Well, good job. You won a cap too. First one in the water. All right, Way to go. How you feeling, ladies? Feeling great. Yeah. Last day. Legs recovered? Oh, fully. Yeah. Yeah. What's the. What's been the best part for you so far, Christine? Definitely the panic attack in the water yesterday, trying to do drafting. Uh huh. Yeah, definitely. Little cold and choppy out there? No, just the people and keeping up. Yeah, yeah. No, it was the bike ride. The long bike ride was awesome. Awesome. I might be able to finish without getting hold off the course because I took too long. What's up, Luke? Maybe you should wait until you get your breakfast. Your competitive edge. Or wake up. What'd you order? Competitive edge. Nice. What's that gonna help you do today? Survive. Survive. You looking forward to one more day? Yeah. What's been the best part for you so far?
I think the ride feels good. Long ride. Epic for you. The longest you've done yet? I think it was like almost double what I've done. Nice, nice. Feeling good today though. No feeling trash. Awesome. Coach Garcia, how'd you do this week? It was good. Yeah, it was a lot of fun. Did you have a good time? Yeah, it was cool. It was great seeing just the athletes and everything that they're going through and it's fun going through with it. What was your favorite part about camp? I think it was probably just seeing the effort on the day that we did the double loop. Just seeing, you know, what people, what they're going through mentally and just kind of getting an eye opener. Of the course, so that was cool. Awesome. All right, you guys, we got three caps, and I know I said I would give one to the first person who got in the lake, and that was Dennis. From what I understand, he made it even with these sunglasses on.
The next cap was gonna go to the best question of the week, and I got a great question about downhill versus uphill fueling and drag. And I don't want to bore all you guys and go into it, but Luke asked me that question during the long ride. So Luke gets a cap. And then, for a display of sportsmanship, MVP status. There was one person at this camp that every single time that I saw them, no matter what, they had the biggest smile on their face of anybody else. Not that nobody was happy, but this one person was smiling and looked super happy the entire time, which I thought was really cool, because that's what I love during triathlons, when I see people to look like they're really enjoying it. And that was Christine. So there you go. All right, thanks, you guys. See, again.
