Hey you guys, what's up? I just got done interviewing somebody named Flavia Del Monte about, of all things, flavor and a really cool cookbook that she wrote. We get into everything about alternatives to soy sauces and how she uses something called coconut aminos, the difference between coconut oil and coconut butter. The ways that she's found to actually feed her 19 month old girl and have her girl enjoy food but also eat healthy food. We get into a lot of practical tips and tricks like how to preserve herbs and some of the cool ways that she preserves herbs, including pureeing and blending and freezing them. We get into her 3333 method to cook the perfect steak, which I'm actually probably going to try tomorrow night with a couple of rib eyes that I have up in the freezer right now. And we talk about a bunch of other things.
A few of the cool takeaways that I got from this one. One would be Flavia used to be in the same boat as me. She would eat like chicken and rice and broccoli and she was kind of in like the fitness modeling and bodybuilding type of world and experienced a lot of the same hormonal imbalances that I experienced until I hooked up with expanding into life beyond steak and stir fry and boring foods. And she goes into her story of how she was able to pull that off, what she learned along the way, and how her body has changed because of that. We also get into some kitchen tools like microplanes for example, and some of the cool ways that she'll use microplanes with ginger and garlic and chilies. We talk a little bit about turmeric and curcumin as well. All sorts of cool stuff in this one with a lot of the essential kitchen items and things that you should have around the house, but maybe you haven't heard of or maybe you don't know how to use. And we even get into whether or not something called coconut sugar is healthy.
