A short YouTube dialogue ("Be Broken") where two speakers, referencing the Book of Job, reflect on the idea of being broken and refined by God. The speakers cite Job’s rapid losses—livestock, servants, ten children, and painful skin sores—and mention a piece of wisdom from Job’s friend Eliphaz as the focal teaching.
Lets talk about being broken. See when it comes to having it all, then losing it all, Job in the Bible was about the most beat up man in all of recorded human history. You could read his entire story of riches to rags, back to riches in.
The Bible in the book of Job, of all things.
But one particular bit of wisdom in the book of Job that was uttered.
By one of Job's friends named Eliphaz.
Who was speaking with Job after Job had in the course of a single.
Day lost his livestock, all his servants.
His 10 children and had been stricken with horrible skin sores, was this.
Here's what Eliphaz said to Job. Behold, happy is the man who God corrects. Therefore do not despise the chastening of of the Almighty. Happy, Grateful, Broken. Happy, Grateful, Broken, Broken, happy and grateful. So how about you? Are you being broken by God at some point in your life right now? Have you lost your job? Have you hurt yourself? Have you caught an illness? Have you experienced a death in your family? A broken relationship? And say to God, thank you. Thank you for breaking me. Keep breaking me and keep breaking me and keep breaking. I'm grateful you have broken me. Thank you for showing me how tiny I am in comparison to the great I am. Thank you for slaying my ego. Thank you for refining me. Like gold in a fire, like a diamond under pressure. Now God, please heal me and raise me back up. You speak that from the heart the next time that you're broken. And remember what a blessing it can be to be broken.
