Ben Greenfield Makes A Tasty Fish

Ben Greenfield sautés halibut in a steel skillet with a simple marinade of liquid aminos, sesame oil, ginger, and salt. He lets it sit 20 minutes, cooks six minutes per side, then tops it with sautéed onions, mushrooms, and garlic. Serve with vegetables, not starches.

Hey, what's up? This is Ben Greenfield and if it looks like I just got run over by a train, I actually literally just walked in the door from a bike ride and I'm gonna cook me up some tasty halibut. I'm gonna show you how and I'm gonna actually film myself doing this because I don't have anybody here right now to film.
So we have this tasty halibut and this is gonna be a very easy.
Recipe that I showed you. Relatively healthy with just a minimal number of ingredients. One of the ingredients that I'm going to use is this.
Okay. This is liquid aminos. This is what I use as a gluten free alternative to soy sauce. It's got all 16amino acids in there and basically it's kind of like a non GMO preservative free, healthy version of soy sauce. I'm going to put some of this onto the halibut and then I'm going to put a little bit of a rule breaker on here. A little bit of sesame oil.
Not a huge fan of the palm polyunsaturated vegetable oils just because they tend to be a little bit higher in free radicals, they tend to get exposed to a little bit more pressure and more temperature in their processing, in this case from sesame seeds. But because my third ingredient is some.
Ginger here that I've skinned and that I'm basically going to grate on top of the halibut.
Ginger and soy sauce tasting like beverage, beverage sauce. You gotta have a little sesame oil in it. We're going for the whole Asian vibe thing here. Okay. So a little bit of sesame oil here isn't going to kill you. What we're going to do is we're going to mix all these up and shake them with the halibut. So I'm going to get started in that and then I'll show you the final product here in just a second. Done.
Is basically ground the ginger, the sesame oil and the sauce, the non GMO amino sauce on top of the halibut. And then we're just going to add a little bit of salt in here and we're going to let all this.
Set for about 20 minutes. Now after we let it set for 20 minutes, we'll saute it for about six minutes per side in a like a steel side saute pan.
Alright, so the final product is ready in the pan and we've also chopped up some onions with mushrooms and garlic to accompany the halibut. And contrary to popular belief, you actually.
Don'T have to eat this with potatoes and bread. Doing meat and vegetables for dinner is great.
Yeah.
