Blood Testing For Triathlon - Part 1

Ben Greenfield gets a full blood panel before racing Wildflower Squared, back-to-back half Ironman and Olympic-distance triathlons. The tests check cholesterol, vitamins, inflammatory markers, and minerals. He'll post the results and race updates on his blog.

Hey, what's up, you guys? It's Ben Greenfield. And I've got a big hole in my arm right now. Just driving back from LabCorp, got my kids in the back. Say hello to the camera, guys.
And we just gave a bunch of.
Blood, a crap ton of blood. Actually made me kind of nervous about how much blood I had to give. But the reason is I'm doing a full performance evaluation. I'm testing, like, cholesterol, vitamins, inflammatory markers.
Minerals, like, you name it. And the reason, the reason I'm doing.
This is because tomorrow I head down.
To one of the biggest and hardest.
Triathlons on the face of the planet, the Wildflower Triathlon.
And what I'm doing there is not.
Just the triathlon, but I'm doing what's called Wildflower Squared, which is back to back triathlons. And so I got my blood tested.
Today by WellnessFX to find out what happens to the human body when you go out and do something stupid like this. And what I'm gonna do is measure.
The blood when I get back from.
Wildflower to see what happened to my body. And the takeaway for you here is you're going to be able to see what happens to the typical body when you run it through these kind of rigors so that you can see what kind of things you want to replace.
You know, amino acids, fatty acids, what.
Happens to inflammatory markers, you know, just basically what kind of things you can do to mitigate the damage, so to speak. So I'll be publishing all of the.
Lab results on my blog and everything.
But in the meantime, I want to hear what you think is going to happen to the body.
If you're a blood work ninja and you know all about vitamin D and.
Inflammation, or if you have questions about.
What you think is going to happen.
Then leave them as a comment under this video and I'll be happy to respond. And this should be an interesting adventure, so stay tuned.
I'll be broadcasting a few times from Wildflower. I'll ping you after I finish the first race, the half Ironman, let you know how I feel. And then after the Olympic, and then of course, after we get that follow up Blood Works.
So stay tuned.
And I'm Ben Greenfield from bengreenfieldfitness. Com. Over and out.
