Short on-location video by Ben Greenfield at Digby Beach in Kona, recorded five days before a race. He describes arriving from Spokane, running down to the beach, checking buoys and ocean conditions, noting a busy atmosphere with vendors and check-in stations, and plans to swim to assess currents and rollers ahead of race day.

Hey, here in Kona, first day. Got mild amounts of sleep last night. Headed down to Digby Beach. Gonna run about two miles down to the beach. I'll shoot some footage for you so you can see what it looks like down there. But five days out from the race, I'm just gonna go down and get a feel. It's close to the time that the race will actually be on. Race morning. So I'm gonna kind of see what the currents are doing, what the rollers are like out there in the ocean and just go say hi to some people. So I'm excited. It's nice. It's warmer than Spokane. I'm a little sleepy, but that's okay. That's what naps. See you later.
So here I am Monday morning down at Digby Beach.
There's the buoys going out, out out in the ocean.
And there are all of the beautiful people in their swimsuits. And of course it's very busy down here. They've got a little check in spot where you can check in your bag, go swim. They've got little vendors over there, skin suits and wetsuits. All things that people arrive here and see everybody else has and they decide they want to get. That's all here. And I'm about to hop in myself and go for a swim. And it appears that Pepsi is also getting some free advertising on BenGreenfieldFitness.com even though this blog post is not brought to you by Pepsi.
That's it, folks. That's Digney Beach Monday morning, five days out from the race and it's already this busy out here. Just to give you a clue, it's only going to get busier as the days progress.
All right, time for me to hop in and go for a swim.
