Ben Greenfield prepares for a cryotherapy chamber session. You wear special boots to protect your feet, spend two and a half minutes inside, and get several hours of benefit from the brief exposure.
Alright, so it's Ben Greenfield here. Phase two. I'm getting a little bit nervous. I can see how cold that thing is. Got the steam coming off it. So what I've got now is I've got this get up where I've got these special boots on and What? Why the heck am I wearing the boots too?
Well, cold always drops lower. And one thing you want to be concerned about is perception of the cold. Heat leaves the body through the head and the feet. So protecting those feet for perception and also for safety is main concern.
All right, cool. So next up comes the actual chamber. That's right. Just two and a half minutes. Right?
Two and a half minutes.
That's all it takes for me to get, like four or five hours of benefit.
