How To Make A Kona Triathlon Wrap

Ben Greenfield demonstrates how to make a large, calorie-dense but healthy spinach-tortilla wrap shortly after arriving in Hawaii. He walks through assembling the wrap step-by-step, using ingredients found at a grocery store (notably avocado, cashews, cucumber, pepper-jack cheese, tomatoes, sprouts, red onion, spinach, and dressing), seasons it lightly, and rolls it to eat on the go.
Hey, Ben Greenfield here. I'm back. And this one is for all you people who have trouble finding something healthy to eat while you're traveling. I'm going to show you what I did with all those ingredients that I got at the grocery store. And by the way, my plane touched down just barely over an hour ago and I'm about to make myself a fresh meal that's healthy. Check it out.
So what I've done is I have my little spoon spinach tortilla wrap here and I'm going to start off by taking my avocado and I actually need to grab a little knife here. I'm going to take my avocado, which I actually didn't quite finish slicing. And these are one of these lovely huge avocados that you get down in Hawaii, which is where I'm at right now. And we're going to start with the base of avocado. Okay. And this is a high calorie wrap. Don't get me wrong, this will fill you up. Then we're going to take your cashews. These are cashews. We're going to throw these on the wrap as well. Alright, cashews go onto the wrap. Cucumbers. Cucumbers. We're going to layer these on top of the avocado. Next comes cheese. Okay. This is a pepper jack cheese to give just a little bit of a bite. And we're going to layer this on top of the cashews and then we move on to tomatoes and we'll see if I possibly sliced a few too many tomatoes here. That's okay. I'll salt the extra and eat them later. So we've got some tomatoes, got some sprouts that we'll throw on there. And by this point I should be able to move my wrap into the center of my prep board here so you can see it a little bit better. Alright, next we have our red onions. You can see this is basically a salad inside a wrap. It's a great way to, to kind of have a big appetite satiating sandwich. Now because I don't want dressing a drowned spinach basically falling out of the wrap as I eat it. Before I put the spinach on, I'm actually going to put the dressing on.
Now that I have the dressing on, we're going to do just a little bit of seasoning salt and we're actually going to put a little bit of seasoning salt on those extra tomato slices as well so we can eat those later. Next step is you put the spinach on top. And when you eat this, you basically roll it up like a taco and eat it like so. So that is my mondo huge wrap. Alright, so all fresh recipes just landed, like I said about an hour ago. But I'm eating fresh, real food.
There you go.
