Hi, it's Jessa and we're back from Israel and it's the holiday season here in the US and all over the world. And one of the things that I am going to be doing that I took back from Israel with my kids and their cousins is we're going to be making our own chocolate. This is a pretty guilt free chocolate. It has ingredients that you can be, that you can enjoy and don't have to feel bad about. It's basically going to be cocoa butter. We have two cups of cocoa butter here. This isn't two cups, but we're going to be using two cups of cocoa powder and then a half a cup of honey. And this is going to be, this is going to make quite a bit of chocolate. So you can give these to friends or family, you can put them in your kid's lunch or eat them yourselves some. So it's going to be a really fun project. We're going to let the kids decorate them like they would decorate cookies. And so let's get started. So basically you just need a double boiler of some sort or you can use a very, very low setting on your stove top. And I always start with my cocoa butter and my honey because what I've noticed over time is if you put the cocoa powder in there and cook it too long, it can become grainy. So, so start with the cocoa butter and then the honey. Now I want to show you one cool trick with putting honey into your measuring cup.
Is I like to, you can put a little bit of oil in your measuring cup and this way the honey doesn't stick to your cup and make it really hard to scrape out or to clean. So you just put a little bit of oil in there. Not a lot. Pour your honey in and it's just going to come sliding right out.
Instead of having to get the spatula out and you know, scrape it out. So we get a half a cup of honey here. That's just a little useful tip in the kitchen.
There we go.
Alright, we're going to call that good for now.
Okay, then we're going to stir this and once my cocoa butter is melted, then I'm going to throw in the chocolate and then mix that, make sure that it's mixed in really smoothly and then immediately take it off the heat because we don't want it to cook too long.
So it looks like it's ready.
We're going to put the cocoa in.
Stir it up really quick and I'm going to hit another. It's my dog, he Wants chocolate too. I guess we're going to mix it in really well and then we're going to put another cup in there and pull it off the heat and that's it. So I've made these chocolates many times before, but I've minused one element and that is children. And I didn't realize what kind of fun making chocolate with kids could be. So here we've put in these little bowls things like goji berries. We've got bacon, we've got pomegranate, we got banana chips, some zest of orange and rock salt to go on top. If they want to put some nice salt on there, you can definitely do nuts. That's totally fine. We've eliminated nuts for this particular one because we have a couple of kids here who have allergies. But nuts could definitely go in these. So we're gonna just let these guys, we've filled their chocolates half way because that's gonna be kind of difficult with young kids. If your kids are older, they probably can handle it, but younger kids, it might be a little more challenging. So we filled them halfway and then they're gonna be putting in their. Whatever ingredients they pick. I have no idea what they're gonna come up with. It could be like the next big thing. You never know. Bacon. Bacon.
So we're gonna let them decorate and then we're gonna put them in the fridge for 15 minutes or the freezer. Excuse me. And then pop them out and we're gonna have. We're gonna teach a couple of them. So how about it, guys? Go for it.
I'm gonna do one at a time. Yeah. What are you doing? What are you decorating with? Is that orange? I'm doing with the berry, Bacon, pomegranate. You should do an everything chocolate. I'll put some in here. Wow, you guys, these are beautiful. Look at how pretty they are.
I just want to thank Vibe Israel for giving us the opportunity to experience this fun chocolate workshop. And I'm super excited to implement this in day to day life and just include our kids in a chocolate making adventure.
