A short YouTube video by Ben Greenfield demonstrating how to perform strength exercises safely inside a home sauna. He showcases four movements—suitcase deadlifts with dumbbells, single-arm kettlebell rows, kettlebell swings, and push-ups using Perfect Push Up handles—recommending slow controlled movement, 20–30 minute sessions with deep nasal breathing, and linking to his website for more sauna hacking tips.

Hey, I'm Ben Greenfield and guess where I'm at. That's right, you guessed it, my sauna. This is actually the sauna that I built in my basement. It's a clearlight sanctuary sauna. And I actually get a lot of questions from people about whether I can actually do anything in the sauna aside from sit and read the newspaper or, or do hot yoga. The fact is you actually can do things like lift weights in the sauna. And in this video, I want to show you three examples of some exercises that I do in the sauna to ensure that my sauna is not just a relaxing resort like vacation, but is instead a sweaty, sweaty workout. So exercise number one, I dragged two dumbbells in here. Two dumbbells. My old rusty, rustic cowboy dumbbells. And what you do with these is you'll set them about shoulder width apart. And all I do nice and slow. Everything I do in the sauna is nice and slow. Because it's hot, you don't want to faint, right? You go down nice and slow, grab both the dumbbells and this is called a suitcase deadlift. You simply stand.
Look to the sky as you stand, shrug the shoulders back.
And drop down nice and smooth. Alright? Suitcase deadlift, baby. That's right. It'll get you fit for lifting suitcases. I also keep the kettlebell in my sauna.
Now, there's a lot of different exercises that you can do with the kettlebell, but one of my favorites is I'll just do a single arm row with one of these or a swing. So the single arm row, I'll simply get down in this position, one leg forward, one leg back, and row that kettlebell right up to my nip. Down and up. The other exercise, of course, that I'll do with the kettlebell is again, I'll bring my feet shoulder width apart, kettlebell to here, and I'll swing it forward. Basic kettlebell swing. Now I'm not done yet. The next exercise I want to show you is just perfect. Why is it perfect?
Because it's called the perfect push up. They're not even paying me to use these handles in the video, so. Perfect push up handles. I put these in the sauna because frankly, I think they give me a better push up than regular handles. So I'll put one handle here, one handle here. I'll get out into the push up position and I'll simply drop down and up. Basic push up. Except it's actually not a basic push up.
It'S a perfect push up. Yeah, so anyways, those are four exercises that I'll do in this suitcase. Deadlift, a kettlebell, single arm row, a kettlebell swing, a perfect push up. And I'll go through that for 20 to 30 minutes, doing some deep nasal breathing, listening to a little audiobook or perhaps the Ben Greenfield Fitness Podcast. So I hope you enjoyed that video. Now, if you have questions, you can leave them under the video. And if you want to learn how to build and hack your sauna, just like I hacked my sauna, you you can go to BenGreenfieldFitness.com HackedSauna that's BenGreenfieldFitness.com hacked sauna, where you can check out the sauna that I'm in right now, along with plenty of other hacked sauna tips.
