Hey, it's Ben Greenfield. I just got done interviewing Dr. Tim Jackson, and we talked about pretty much everything that you don't know about detoxification. Now, I learned a ton in this episode. I thought I knew everything there was to know about, like detoxes and detox diets. But Dr. Tim brought this to a whole new level. He talked about things like depuration and drainage. He talked about the use of homeopaths. He talked about different ways to test for toxins that go way above and beyond, just like blood testing or saliva or urine. Some really interesting stuff. Some of the big takeaways were, for example, that a lot of the athletes that he's worked with have been found to have huge levels of toxins, even though they're performing at a very high level. And he talked about some of the chronic disease risk factors that they're building up inside their body over time. By addressing some of these variables, I learned about how even if you get a really good, like a detox supplement or a detox juice, if you don't engage in these strategies of drainage that he explains and depuration that he explains in the episode, then what happens is the detoxification, whether it's via a diet or some kind of a special supplement, is actually very stressful on your body and it can harm some of your primary detoxification organs. Another thing that I learned speaking of primary detoxification organs, is that your lungs are the largest detox organ in your body. They get rid of a bunch of waste products, including like molds and toxins and stuff like that. And so if you don't take care of your lungs, that's another way to decrease your ability to detox your body. Now, we jumped into a bunch of other things during the episode, including why we want to do this in the first place, right? Like what it means to maintain proper ph, not just PH of your blood, but apparently your gut has a different PH than your blood, your urine has a different PH than your blood, the cells or the area inside your cells. Basically, the PH of that is distinctly different than your gut or your blood or urine. So he goes into why these differences in ph exist and why it's important to make sure it's an optimal PH across your whole body. So this sounds really complex. I mean, it's like an hour long podcast. So we really get into explaining this stuff in a lot more detail than I'm giving you in this video. But I want to encourage check this one out. It's really, really interesting.
