Hi, my name is Ben from BenGreenfieldFitness.com this is question number seven from our exercise, nutrition and lifestyle series. The top 10 questions that I get from listeners. What are the top three dietary supplements that I can take for fat loss? Whenever I see the top three supplements, I kind of shy away from that because everybody is different. You know, if somebody comes to me and they're an real, real skinny lean person, but for example, maybe they have a big stomach that they're trying to get rid of and skinny arms and legs, that person might just benefit from lifting weights and eating lean protein. Maybe they don't need a lot of these fat burning, thermogenic type of supplements. But what I'm trying to get is really varies from person to person. However, the top three supplements, first thing that I think you should be looking into is some type of high fiber. Not necessarily like a colon cleansing type of supplement, but, but something along those lines. That's very high in fiber that you can take in the morning. That's going to decrease absorption fat. That's going to give your body a lot of the fiber that it needs to keep food moving through your system to keep you cleaned out. And just for overall health, but also for fat loss. Getting something high fiber into your diet helps. Psyllium seed is one example of a high fiber supplement that you can take. Flaxseed is another. Chia seed is another. Eating lots of vegetables may not be logistically as convenient as just getting one of these high fiber. A lot of times it's like a green powder essentially that you can take. It's a high fiber supplement. So that's one thing. The other thing that I really recommend that you put into your diet because this supplement, when taken even the absence of a restricted diet or an exercise program has been shown to assist in fat loss. And that is an omega 3 fatty acid. Whether from a flaxseed oil or a fish oil, this type of supplement should be in your diet. Most Americans don't get enough omega 3 fatty acids. Most people following any type of Western diet don't get enough omega 3 fatty acids. That's another one that I would really recommend that you get, that you get into your diet and then the last supplement, I'm wanting to say a multivitamin, but the multivitamins that are out there right now a lot of times really aren't all that great. And what I'd like to do is get a little bit more specific and say it's, it's going to be a toss up okay, number three is going to be a toss up. Vitamin D is the one supplement that I find tends to be deficient in a lot of people that are having trouble losing weight or struggling in their fat burning endeavors. Magnesium is another big one and so if you can supplement with some sort of mineral source or some sort of vitamin D source or best of both worlds, something that includes both that will really help you out. One thing you need to be cautious with is if you're supplementing with oral magnesium it can give you some intestinal upset. Sometimes a topical magnesium magnesium works better. But just to clarify the answer to your question, high fiber supplement, omega 3 fatty acid and then kind of a toss up between vitamin D and magnesium. Some type of vitamin mineral supplementation though would be really good to support your body and your fat loss endeavors. So that was question number seven from BenGreenfieldFitness.com of the top 10 questions that I get about fitness, nutrition and lifestyle.
