Mirror Laughter — 1-Minute Exercise to Trigger Real Laughs (Day 1, Laughter Toolkit)

A one-minute exercise where you smile at yourself in a mirror until real laughter kicks in. Your nervous system releases the same benefits as genuine laughter, with nothing but a reflective surface needed.

Welcome. I'm so glad you're here. Here's a little secret about your nervous system. It doesn't care much whether a laugh started out as real. Fake it for a few seconds and your body still hands you the benefits, like a generous teacher grading on a curve. When you laugh, you exhale in big messy bursts. Your belly pumps, your shoulders drop. Your body gets the message that you're safe enough to be goofy. Because nobody belly laughs while running from a bear. So we're kicking off Silly on Purpose: The Laughter Toolkit, and your first tool is a mirror. Go find one— bathroom, car visor, your phone camera pointed at you, the back of a spoon if you're desperate. Look yourself in the eye and smile. Not a polite smile, a big cheesy school picture day smile. Hold it. And keep holding. It's gonna feel weird. That's the point. Somewhere around 10 seconds, your face will start to feel absurd and a little laugh will sneak out. Let it. Then laugh at the fact that you're laughing at yourself in the mirror. That's it. That's the tool. 30 seconds, zero equipment, and your nervous system just got a free reset. You may feel your face looks silly, But your insides will thank you. I'm sending you so much love. If there's someone that comes to mind that can use a little laughter or peace, please share this with them. And please subscribe to keep returning to peace in under 2 minutes a day. Thank you so very much for being here with me today.
