Are you ready to earn twice as much in half the time with joy and ease while serving the highest good for all involved? If so, get a jump on your business planning and strategic building for the year ahead by joining us in Momentum, my private community for solopreneurs with step by step systems and an uber supportive front or crew for designing your ideal six or seven figure heart based business. And it's not too late to join us for a special free masterclass that I'll be leading to kick off the Launch. It's called 10 scalable streams of Solopreneur income. You can register at at Pivot Love 10 streams and it's 10 with a number one and a zero. So one zero streams in it. I'm going to share over 10 streams of scalable Solopreneur income and exactly what I earn across each one. I'm going to walk you through my accounting software and go one by one through these now. Sometimes 11 or 12 depending on any given month or year. And I'll also talk about pros and cons and systems considerations for each one. I'm not saying I recommend that you focus on building 12 streams at a time. That would be pretty hard to do, but I will share the three that I'm going to double down on for the next year and what I would do differently for each one if I were starting over today. For example, there are certain streams that you might be called to, like affiliate marketing and want to hit it really hard. For me, my heart has usually been in things like coaching programs, courses and even doing keynote speaking, so it will really depend on what you love to do in your business and where you feel called to serve. But I'll go through each one and at least give you ideas and things that I've learned in this last near decade of running a business. I'll talk about the importance of a cash flow cal steady recurring revenue and how to generate it across multiple streams of income. Vital Queen B Roll activities that I learned from my friend Mike Michalowicz in his book Clockwork that are the source of every incoming lead in business and Q and A to answer anything else that's on your mind at the end of this 75 minute masterclass, I'll also share more about doors reopening for momentum and answer any questions you might have about that program as well. So if you want to join us for this completely free masterclass, just head on over to Pivot Love 10 streams to sign up. That's Pivot Love 10 streams. You might also notice the different domain. That's because I'm hosting things like courses. Some of you may have taken Free up founder time and the Momentum private community platform as well as My email is now all on Kajabi, so I'll put the link in the show notes. But Kajabi is pretty cool if you're going to go pro on some of your online business systems. It's actually been really helpful for launch planning so you can head to pivot love 10 streams and of course you can always find show notes for an episode like this one and all the rest of things under my Pivot umbrella@pivotmethod.com for show notes on the podcast, it's@pivotmethod.com podcast.
With that. Today's episode is a Pivot from our usual programming. See what I did there. Doors are now open for Momentum enrollment for just under a week and it's the last chance to enroll for at least six months. For those of you who are more apt to listen while on the go, then read a long drawn out invitation and information page. I wanted to share the highlights of what you'll find in Momentum 3.0, as well as five plus years of archives and some of my story and philosophy. You can read all of this@pivotmethod.com Momentum if you want to revisit any of what I'm about to share. But I know that for me now, I'm loving listening to things so much more than sitting and reading a long page. So@pivotmethod.com Momentum when doors are open for enrollment, you'll be redirected to quite a long sales page. Or as I prefer to call it, a sales letter. But really it's meant to see if it's a fit for you, see if you resonate with my philosophy, what I teach, how I run business, what you need, and there's even a section where I say who Momentum is not a fit for and what other programs I'd recommend to get you even more specific help, depending on what you're looking to build. So I just want to make sure my goal is not to trick anyone or convince anyone. It's like if you are jumping out of your chair to join us and you want this crew of friend tours and it feels so good and your intuition says absolutely yes, then it's a fit. And if it doesn't and you have any doubt, no worries. But in this episode, this special launch episode of the podcast, I am going to walk you through what I've outlined on that page. From my path, your business collapse to building toward mid six figures and beyond. I'll talk about the four solopreneur intelligence quadrants, how I've been thinking about growing both myself and what I teach, the Rising Tide lifts all boats philosophy behind heart based business, why I created the Pivot method and how it can help you pivot to profit as you design your ideal business, and how launching momentum back in 2014 helped me save my business.
For a very select few of you. There are also six bots available for a small group VIP Strategy Mastermind with me, which will be pretty much the only way to work directly with me in the next year. So all that said, if you already know Momentum is a fit for you, please feel free to head straight to enrollment. It's@pivotmethod.com Momentum and we also have a select number of spots for those of you who'd want to support your community involvement with one on one pivot coaching with one of the incredible Pivot coaches. So don't delay if you think that you want to explore some of those other tiers of enrollment, because those spots will go quickly. Again, that's pivotmethod.com momentum. And as I always like to do with big programs like this, if you have a change of heart, no worries. Enrollment comes with a 30 day, 100% money back guarantee because we don't want to hold anybody hostage if it is not a fit for you. And you, you log in and you start the Pivot to profit course and you start the do this now. It's a 30 day blueprint of exactly what I would do if I were starting from scratch and you just aren't resonating or you already know that stuff and you already do and it's not a fit. Absolutely. Within those first 30 days we want to refund all your money, no questions asked. We only want people who are as thrilled to be working with us as we are with them. So the goal sometimes I know how it is. You don't really know until you're on the inside. And sometimes there's hesitation for programs like this. With that, let's dive into some of the context that you'll find on the page@pivotmethod.com Momentum.
The way you're working isn't working and what got you here won't get you there. The cliches are true. How do I know? Because the factory and human US machine like systems in most workplaces today are broken. Even if you're self employed or aspiring to work for yourself, you might be dreaming, building or already running a location independent freedom based lifestyle business. Then be shocked to find out that once you take the courageous leap to get started that you are your own worst boss. That CEO who runs the boardroom in your brain, or more likely paranoid cfo. I have one of those starts squawking day and night about everything you could be doing, should be doing and aren't doing well enough. If anything, now you just have the added pressure of worrying about how to meet your monthly nut of minimum recurring baseline expenses. So the voice starts speaking louder and louder. You're working harder and harder and how are the results? Is this all that solopreneurship is cracked up to be? There's no guarantee that leaving a stressful or High pressure job leads to greater freedom, ease and joy. Especially if you don't transform the way you think about work from the inside out. Stress is a Systems problem.
Running a heart based business has you at the center with the clients and community you're serving radiating out as spokes. It does no one any good to run yourself ragged trying to make everyone else happy. You have an opportunity to build smart systems to free your time, your mind and your energy to do your best work.
No one on my team works full time, even me. In fact, I just ran a rescue time report and I work at my computer about 45 hours a month now. That doesn't include time that I'm at speaking engagements or working from my mobile phone while on the go, but it gives you an idea of the fact that if you are smart and strategic about how you set up your time, your income streams and even batching some of your content production that you can work toward your ideal day. The reason that you probably wanted to start your own business in the first place, or at least one of them.
Does your business help you achieve your ideal day? Or are you still in that phase of running yourself ragged, trying to meet your minimum monthly expenses and reach profitability, even now earning mid 6 figures with a part time team of 4? Again, I only work an average of, I would say 20 hours per week and it always varies if I have a huge client project or a big launch. But I am now indeed earning four to five times what I was when I was working at Google in a fraction of the time. So asking that creative question that kicked off this episode how can I earn twice as much in half the time with ease and joy is the first step toward actually figuring out how to do that. If you're already running your own business, what would happen if you aimed not just to quote, pay the rent, but to live an abundant lifestyle that brings you even more delight and ease? I've been running my own business full time since 2011 and my joy and revenue quotient has been largely up and to the right with some inevitable big learning dips and plateaus along the way. Here's a peek into my path if you're new to the JB universe. In 2011 I was just getting off the ground as a full time self employed solopreneur, but I was profitable enough not to touch my savings for the first year, which was a big surprise to my inner CF who surely thought that I'd be down to $0 in six months and begging Google to take me back for Another job. Now, I will preface that by saying that I set up my first website, Life after college, in 2005, and I started blogging in 2007. I started working on my book on nights and weekends while working at Google in 2008. So by the time that it launched in 2011, I had hit a breaking point. I realized that I could not juggle running global career development programs for Google at the same time as trying launch my first book, Life After College. So that's when I made the decision. I have got to make a choice here. And I knew that I would forever regret not at least trying to run my own business. So I saved six months of Pivot Runway and I told my inner CFO that I have six months to figure this out and if I can't earn a living and pay the rent in that time, then I'll go back and get another job. So to have that first year actually be profitable was a big win and something I had no clue if I would be able to do. I was not confident in myself as an entrepreneur at that time. I just knew that I would regret not trying. So don't think that this is a case where you feel totally ready to do any of these things that I'm about to describe, even for you. It might be writing a book or starting a podcast, but it does happen over time. As you start taking action.
In 2012 and 2013, I started floundering a little bit. I was getting tired of talking about life after College. I was 27 when the book came out and already feeling a little bit over it. My heart wasn't really in it. I didn't want to focus on just that one period of life and that one age group for the rest of my career. But I had no clue how to rebuild my identity post Google, which was also. I had a little bit of that big shiny brand syndrome. Am I valuable to people outside of my time there as it was, I would often have author friends. Part of what I did there was work within the Authors at Google program. And I would see an email from someone I really admired and I would get so excited. And often they just wanted a connection to speak at Google or sometimes even to put their resume in at Google. And so I was very fearful that if I pivot away from Google and away from Life after college, who am I? Am I just going to be lost in a sea of. In an Internet sea? And what do I stand for? I just didn't even know. So around 2012, 2013, I hired two interns one of them is Marisol, who still works with me today. And I met them when they invited me to speak at Yale for a master's tea. It was Marisol and Davis. They'd been reading Life After College and our connection, it just. We hit it off. And I asked them for three months if they wanted to do an internship. And then Marisol ended up staying on with me and I started paying her. And later that year, I hired my first virtual assistant. This was late 2012, starting at just 250amonth, by the way, through a company called Zirtual to start to free up my time. So this was the first time that I was redefining myself, my brand, and I was bringing on someone other than just myself to help in the business.
That said, I. It was still a journey and I went through a lot of really tough Times Personally in 2013, I call it my apocalypse year. I cried almost every single day for various reasons. I just was really, really struggling. So I needed to ask for help. I needed to have someone like Marisol. The VAs that I were working with, that just helped me maintain the business. I even brought on guest writers at Life After College while I took the time I needed to move in a different direction. And part of that whole experience is what sparked Pivot and the Pivot Method and me getting so frustrated. I was two weeks away from not being able to pay my rent and possibly having to fold my business or leave New York. And I became very frustrated that of all the business books I was reading, none of them were getting me out of this pickle that I was in. So that's the aha moment that I describe in Pivot that created the Pivot Method, which was all about doubling down on what's already working to shift in a new, related direction. And I ended up getting a book deal for pivot later in 2014. So it was in fact, in fact, my agent rejected my first book proposal for Pivot. Fun fact. I don't know if anyone knows this or have said it publicly. The first proposal, I called it the Human Pivot because I was looking so much at what startups were doing and I wondered how people could be as agile. And everyone agreed eventually that Human Pivot was just really weird and unnecessary. And then we sold the book and I got a book deal with Portfolio, who's the business imprint of Penguin Random House. Another, like, brain exploding life dream coming true. That was in 2014. Under the pivot Method was the original title. But what I'm so happy that this happened. Someone suggested we shorten it just to Pivot. And now I'm so happy with the title and the subtitle. The only move that matters is your next one. Right around the time I got the book deal, I started the Pivot podcast in a very, very scrappy way. It will be embarrassing if you go back and listen to the first few episodes, but you can. It was not tech savvy. I taught myself GarageBand. I downloaded my own intro outro music. But that really kicked things off again. And after coming up with Pivot Method and I ended up earning six figures for the first time in 2014. So that was a huge win. And it really rebuilt me back from zero and back from this real fear that I couldn't even take a creative pause, that liminal space that Penny Pierce and I talked about on a previous episode, without having everything collapse. And I just promised myself I never wanted that to happen again.
Also in 2014, while I was working on the book, I launched the private Momentum community. This, what we're here talking about today, which to this day is my favorite place to hang out online. And it is the only reason I sign into Facebook. I don't do personal updates on Facebook. I don't. I will not advertise on Facebook because I don't personally use it. And I'm not down with all the super tracking. It creeps me out. But I will log in to go interact with our group, share resources, share quotes. I just love the crew so dearly. And also in. In that time that I was working on the book, Marisol and I really started ramping up her time together. She was working about 40 to 50 hours per month as director of communications. And I also had the VA to help with things like customer support. And so Marisol was spearheading Momentum and some client projects. That was 2014 through 2016. I would say the year of 2014. I mean, those were so intense of writing Pivot and editing. Oh, my gosh, it's just very, very intense. And I was simultaneously building the business behind the scenes because I. I knew that when Pivot launched, I have a big opportunity to create scalable streams of income and generate a lot of interest. There's so much marketing when you launch a book that I wanted to be sure I had programs like Momentum, like licensing, corporate workshops, keynote speaking, that would, quote, catch all that interest when the book was launching. So that came out in September 2016. And then in 2017, in the summer of 2016, I met Michael, my husband, walking down the street Opposite directions down Mott street in Nolita. You can hear that whole story in my first episode back after a hiatus. Pivotmethod.com123 but in early 2017, we moved in together, both working from home in a 400 square foot studio apartment. We did this for two years, which people are shocked. They're like, and you still got married. But clearly we had like, we got a black belt in communication and cooperation. So during that time, I had never lived with someone before. I was adjusting to a relationship. I hadn't had a relationship in a while. I had never dated someone in New York City. It was always long distance, which I think subconsciously is kind of allows me to keep my routines. So this was a huge personal pivot that I made, was getting to know Michael, knowing in my heart, in my soul, that he was really someone special. And living together in a studio apartment, working from home. This was such a huge adjustment that I was. I only really had 10 to 20 hours a week to work on my business. And like I sometimes wanted to work more, sometimes I didn't care. But nonetheless, kind of by necessity, I was only putting in 10 to 20 hours a week. So it really stepped up my systems and delegation. And during that time my income still quadrupled, hitting almost half a million in revenue. And I started licensing large scale global pivot programs to dream clients of mine like Google and Chanel. And that is really where I started to find that flywheel of having the book out and licensing is definitely one of my highest income generating products in my business.
I also started at Union Theological Seminary. I was doing a master's in interreligious engagement toward the end of 2018. But then work really, really started picking up in second semester, early 2019, and I was gonna have to miss too many classes to go travel and speak with some of my regular, most favorite clients that I mentioned. And I just made the tough decision that I needed to pause school because as it was, some of my teachers were saying I'd have to drop the class. So once I paused my studies at Union, I also paused the podcast, paused my newsletter, and really getting perspective with my time freed up. I was about to be celebrating my eighth year in business, that's in March 2019. And I was picking up all this momentum on the corporate side. I just realized that I was kind of at another plateau in terms of what was energizing me and what was draining me and where I needed to invest further to truly go pro. Even an example, like all the software services That I had always tried to stay as low to the ground, like freemium mode on. I was just diligent about trying not to pay services. I realized I got to step it up. These things exist for a reason. I will also say that I bought a condo in New York City, which is a long time sole goal that I had set when I had $0 in the bank, by the way, about three years prior. And that also motivated me big time to mega upgrade all of my internal operations and sparking what I've called it a JB 3.0 business renaissance. That, that I just. In order to meet this new mortgage and have more space, Michael and I could finally spread out in a three bedroom with a nice terrace. But this was, this is a big shock. I got married, I bought a house, we moved into that house. I'm, we're, we're now juggling so many bank accounts. It's not just me anymore. So everything about my life and my work was upgrading. I could feel my operating system just going through these massive upgrades. And I also started uncovering more and more blind spots and areas for improvement. Marisol and I, at the same time, we also redesigned her role, talking about what energized her most. You know, it had been five years working together at that point. And so we started to free up her time. And to do this we came up with operating principles and a manager manual, systematizing all that we could and documenting those. And those are actually in momentum now as workshops. And that really helped us bring on two more part timers and three, if you include part time audio editing. Overall, I became more determined than ever to diversify my pivot portfolio even further to create cash flow, financial security, freedom and abundance through even steadier, robust recurring revenue. So for fun and challenge in this year, which by the way, 2019, I had set the theme of the year was abundance. I started to set my sights on a million dollars in annual revenue. And I was fine for, for that year for it to be gross revenue, just products sold and did in fact hit the halfway mark in August. So the rest is a continuing, ongoing work in progress and you are invited to be a part of it. That's what momentum is all about. I don't lead the community from a place of I have all the answers. I can just say I've been doing this, you know, full time, running my own business since 20 to build an online platform and thought leadership publicly since 2005. So it's just been a while. And as things usually go for me I kind of, because I get a slightly earlier start, I learn things the long hard way. And then if I can consolidate and create shortcuts and templates and book notes and share that back out, that's what momentum is for. Because then it makes it feel worth it. But don't. Don't do what I did. Like, if I can save you time and trouble, I love to do that. So part of what I'm doing in momentum with the twice a month monthly calls and workshops and templates is just as we go. Here's what I'm learning. And of course the community learns so much and shares resources with each other too.
Moving on down in the letter, the next section is called Light A Clean Burning Business Fire Heart based business is not about who can hustle, grind and grit hardest to beat the competition. Sure, those qualities may come in handy from time to time. You and I both know that they do. But you will burn out faster than when you were in the corporate world if you try to build a business upon them as your foundation and source of fuel. That type of business becomes a dirty fire that burns uncontrollably, wrecking everything in its path. Most of all, it just isn't sustainable. Compare that to a clean burning fire, one that regularly clears out old underbrush and ignites new, healthy growth in a contained, strategic and systematic way. Imagine you are traveling and going off the grid without panicking that everything will fall apart or that you'll lose business or income while you're gone. Imagine you're seamlessly working with clients while living abroad or working remotely, working 10 to 20 hour weeks and delegating the rest to a remote team who also works efficiently part time answering questions for your team with relief. Knowing you don't have to own the reply. Increasingly empowering your team to answer their own questions before they even have to ask you. And imagine you're taking care of family members and emergencies without adding tremendous stress during your time of need. Comforted by knowing your team has your back on the business front.
That's what's possible when you build a smart, systematized six figure business. One that is still rooted in your authentic mission to serve.
We are on this planet to live, love, learn and serve. Running your own business can be an epic creative's journey that teaches you all four of these crucial life skills. And you can be sure that the entrepreneurial journey will call up all of your biggest doubts and insecurities so you can burn through them and write new, more productive, positive scripts moving forward. Think about it. This way you are upgrading your entire operating system for life by running your own business. Entrepreneurship is one of the biggest personal growth journeys you can undertake. It will test you, reveal blind spots, and call forth your deepest fears so you can shine light on them and grow in the process of dissolving disempowering stories that are standing in your way. Way do you ever find yourself feeling guilty for not starting sooner or moving faster? Embarrassed by the state of your systems? Personal case in point. I recently found an embarrassingly out of date autoresponder welcome email that I had not checked or updated in three years. I was mortified. Maybe you find yourself berating yourself for lack of sophistication with certain tools and automations. Things like email tagging, segmenting funnels, evergreen markets. What does it all mean? Maybe you're bummed that you or your team aren't further along, frustrated at the way you're working but unsure how to change it. And on certain days, after working tirelessly for weeks, months or years, feeling like you just want to quit and throw in the towel on the whole thing. If your answer was yes to any of the above, you are not alone. In fact, you are human. And yes, you sound just like a solopreneur who really cares about making their business business work. We all go through these dips along the way, myself included. My commitment is to share my dips and bounce backs openly and honestly as we build together toward more sophisticated, resonant solutions. Often remind myself that just working hard doesn't get you anything in business. You're not guaranteed that just because you worked hard or just because you've been running an online business for 10 years, you don't. It doesn't always correlate to actual revenue and ease and success in the business, however you define it. So this really is about figuring out how to elevate your business game and work smarter, not harder, as the cliche goes. To that end, I know that you are creative and resourceful. You will figure this out just as you always have. But it helps to have as many shortcuts, systems and tools as possible to save time, money and stress. Stress? There is no reason you should reinvent the wheel and try to do it all from scratch. Solo plus preneurship means you're not alone. Nor can you continue to build a business that's carried only on your back. After all, what if you want to go off the grid on a safari for two weeks or worse, you get sick or have an unforeseen life crisis that takes you out for weeks or months should everything grind to a halt. No.
Heart based business goes beyond an obsession with money, metrics and the bottom line. The more more more trap is so easy to fall into and it's exhausting. More followers, more leads, bigger list, more conversions. If you are here just to learn how to make more money online, you are in the wrong place. Similarly, I have no interest in teaching you how to hang a shingle for something that you see others doing, like life coaching without any formal training or experience to vaccinate it up. Heart based business is about delivering excellence in our work with humility, holding a belief that a rising tide lifts all boats. It means helping without any expectation of what we'll get in return. It means striving to create as much good as we can in the world with authenticity and integrity. The Pivot and Momentum team and I believe in radical transparency, sharing truth walls fresh, particularly about what we're learning and doing behind the scenes. Delightful specificity and crazy smart systems and building those as we go along the way. Momentum is a fit for you. If you already have expertise and you're looking to build structure that will help you experience greater ease, joy and revenue to take things to the next level in your business. If you are here to learn, give and do great work that lights you up while serving the highest good for all involved, then you are in the right place. With Momentum, you're getting the power of a global collective of people who are brilliant, generous, creative, passionate, soul driven, intuitive and heart centered. You'll jump right into a community of friend tours for instant feedback on your ideas, encouragement for your biggest soul goals, and practical tips and systems to save you time and unnecessary hassle.
In my one on one coaching, I've always said that one plus one equals 102 minds are exponentially more powerful than one and that's what you're getting in Momo, which is what we long timers, some founding members, are now five year veterans. That's what we call momentum. For short, let me learn the hard slow way, then give it to you to take what works and implement it in a fraction of the time. I live for this. I love knowing I can save you 10 times the time and trouble to implement smarter systems. If I binge 20 business podcasts, podcasts or 10 books in a row, which I'm often apt to do, I will roll up the best takeaways and show you exactly how to apply them. When you enroll in Momentum, you will start a new phase of your transformation journey. You'll gain skills, sophistication and experience across four key solopreneur intelligence areas. Energy intelligence, which includes things like abundance, intuition, energizers, drainers, and even entering a flow state state and working from your unique zone of genius. We'll cover financial intelligence, earning revenue, ideally recurring revenue, with ease and joy.
We'll talk about systems intelligence, how to get out of the weeds of your business, where everyone on your team is constantly trying to work themselves out of a job, or at least out of recurring tasks that nobody needs to be doing. And finally, business building. So we'll talk about business building, intelligence, even leadership and managing your team intelligence, platform building, things like creating a podcast, writing a book, launching courses. Anything that you feel good about putting out into the world to share your public original thinking.
Focusing on elevating my awareness, skills and systems across these four areas has given me tremendous momentum forward movement. In fact, my personal and business momentum did not come because a lightning bolt of luck struck me from above. Although there have been plenty of very fortunate and serendipitous encounters, it came because I got determined to do things differently. There was no alternative. I knew I was not going to quit my business if I could help it. So I stopped trying to do things alone and I started asking better questions. I read everything I could get my hands on about building better business models while still working on projects that interested me. I never was good at just following quote what everyone else was doing online I can't do. I can only follow my own heart, my own intuition and my own path and do things with utmost integrity. My coaching clients know that I have an open book philosophy. You can ask me anything and I'm always happy to share. And I do bring that level of transparency to momentum as well, because I know that knowledge is power and comparing notes, shortcuts, feedback and resources with others can be incredibly empowering. That's partly why I created the pivot method as well, because I needed a simple, repeatable way to navigate navigate the tides of change and the stresses of solopreneurship. I did not want to spin out every time I hit a plateau. The biggest mistake I made, the one that almost cost me my business back in 2013, was focusing so much on what I didn't want, what I didn't know, and what I didn't have. It seems obvious in hindsight, but none of that was ever going to work to propel me forward. All of my solutions were so far away that none of them would pay the rent that was due in thousand two weeks. That's when I had My aha moment. And when I created Brilliance Barter, which was the small community prototype that saved my business, I launched that in early 2014. And that community, which I the reason it's called Brilliance Barter, is the take a penny, leave a penny philosophy of giving and receiving feedback and advice. And that is what became momentum 1.0 two years later. So I reverse engineered my career history, my decade of coaching experience as a certified coactive coach. I went through CTI coach training back in 2008 and my early business pivots to create the four stage pivot method, which is now the global career development framework used at Google. Who of course, as you know, also happens to be my corporate alma mater. And that's a big honor and a testament to the idea of pivoting that even now I still work with Google. It's just in a different context than the five years that I work there full time after working at a startup for two years as the first employee. That's when I even pivoted over to Google in 2006 and started my work in global training, coaching and career development programs. So I've been doing this for quite a long time. And when I started at Google, the company only had 6,000 employees. So I was building these programs as it grew to 36,000, which was a huge shift in thinking. And how do we reach this many global employees?
The four stages, plant scan, pilot launch. We're not going to go into them right now, but ultimately they boil down to a very simple series of repeatable questions. What's working? What does success look like? Ideally, one year from now? What's out there? What can I try? That's it. That's it. What's working? What does success look like? What's out there? That covers people skills and projects. And what can I try? How can you set up some small, easy experiments with 5, 10, 20% of your time? There is no one answer. You cannot know your entire pivot plan up front. You have to break things down into small enough chunks that feel safe to try, then let those pilots show you what starts to gain traction. The same is true for your business.
Achievements and success metrics are punctuated moments in time. I hate to break it to you, but the thrill just doesn't last. Welcome to the hedonic treadmill of business metrics. Yay. You hit six figures in revenue, now you're jonesing for seven. You hit a thousand or 10,000 or 100,000 subscribers of podcast downloads. But hey, who's over there with a million? You got a thousand followers on Instagram, but hey, if you had 10,000 or 20,000, you qualify as an influencer. It never ends. Business, happiness and success starts on the inside. And how you work on your business is far more important than what you produce. In fact, I'm a believer that if you create products, courses, even a book with stress and burnout, the products and services you sell will not do nearly as well as if you had created them with joy and ease. What we all really want is a feeling of forward momentum, ongoing, energized movement, knowing that we are making progress in a direction aligned with our soul's deepest dreams, making a positive, lasting impact on the lives of others around us. We want a feeling of wind in our hair and freedom at our backs. That is freedom in flow, not fixed goals. As Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, the author of the best selling business book Flow, he says it is the full involvement with flow rather than happiness that makes for excellence in life. And in fact, he defines a flow state as the intersection of just enough challenge and just enough skill. And I don't know what will give you that every day than running your own business. More than running your own business. True success comes from meeting the universe halfway. I optimize for revenue and date joy. I connect with other life like minded people. I continuously look for a sense of flow, not force. Listen, if I'm being honest, obsessive specific goals bore me. Habits bore me. By the time you are leaning hard on willpower, you are already betting against yourself, believing the true person underneath can't get the job done. I've spent years in my business completely surrendered. This is Tosha Silver Style, who wrote one of my favorite books, Outrageous Openness, where I didn't set revenue goals, I didn't set enrollment goals, newsletter podcast downloads. I didn't even check the book sales statistics for like three or six months because I was completely surrendered to the process. I trusted that whatever clients I had, whatever revenue I had at any given time was exactly as it was meant to be. And that was a beautiful way to live and a beautiful way to run my business. And it goes in waves and then I'll shift into building mode, visioning mode. What do I want to create? How can I play the game of business and take things up a level and, and so setting goals and targets can also be fun and there's a lot to be said for it. But I really do believe in holding the balance between those two things, holding the paradox of living in the mystery of what is yet to come and finding momentum in the process, opening up and meeting the universe halfway with playful curiosity. So holding goals and these soul goals, you know, holding them lightly, not attaching to any specific outcome or metrics, but doesn't mean that you can't vision around them and dream about them and work very diligently toward making them happen.
So if you resonate with all this, I sincerely hope you'll join us on this next phase of the Pivot Momentum journey. We would love nothing more than to help you build your business with greater fun, freedom, flow and of course crazy smart systems. So let's talk about who is Momentum a fit for? Primarily entirely. We have been building Honing. It is a private community for what I would call smart, generous, creative, heart based business owners who want to bring intelligence, delight and curiosity to their work.
Momentum will be a great match if you already have a business that you are excited to grow into mid six figure revenue or more, you are interested in meaningful connection and helping others succeed, you're excited about giving and receiving feedback and will honor confidentiality Reality and let me just say about you already have a business. It could be a fit if you have a side hustle but I focus less on quitting your job or just those first. You will get a lot on getting started, but you might find it a little overwhelming because it's less oriented towards side hustling. It's more going to be for founders and exactly what I would do and set up if I were starting from scratch. So I would say that can apply if you have a side hustle and you're really committed to building building out that side hustle. Or even if you've already been running a business five or 10 years and you just want to refresh on your strategies and systems.
No matter what, you are someone who has refined your talents, you have actual real world wisdom and you are willing to share tips, tricks, hacks and strategies. This is not a community for smoke and mirrors. Put up a course or something for something that you are you do not actually have real world expertise in I I cannot stand that. I see it online all the time where I know what a person is doing behind the scenes and then I see what they're projecting online and it drives me insane. So this is for people who already are talented, wise, have experience and now you're ready to share it, to teach, to create thought leadership. Momentum will be a fit if you are eager to be open about your own successes and failures and if you'd be willing to connect fellow members to people in your network only when it makes sense and you feel genuine, genuinely, genuinely happy to do that. But we are trying to help each other as friend tours, lift each other up, get each other's podcasts off the ground, newsletters, etc. It's going to be a fit if you are someone that believes life is a gift, even a game that we have the privilege of playing. Throughout your life, people have often described you as kind, radiant, joyful, bright, generous. Even if you're going through a dip in life or this particular season season most likely, you'd be a great fit if you love reading nonfiction books improving through podcasts and courses, we are always batting around ideas on that front. In momentum, this one's crucial. You take responsibility for your life. If something isn't working, you own the issue and you look for ways to shift your perspective or your skills to rise to the challenge. You are honest with yourself and others. Even white lies feel terrible and you avoid avoid them even when telling the truth is difficult. You love or are least open to astrology, numerology, personality assessments, and anything that can help round out the blueprint of who you are and what you're called to do in this world. Otherwise, you'll probably get sick of me talking about some of that stuff you hold or are working toward an abundance mindset that there's plenty to go around for all of us. A rising tide lifts all boats. You give back to the community even when experiencing massive success rather than aiming to leave the second you hit your biggest soul goals. Sometimes in the past, people do generate a ton of momentum and success and then the minute they do, they're out of there. They're. They're gone. And ideally, if you're experiencing massive success, you don't just think, oh, okay, yeah, great, got what I needed, I'm out of here. You actually think about how can you mentor? How can you give to others in the community? Maybe you're ready to scale a side hustle or small business beyond just yourself by making your first part time hires one or more. And if you already have a few employees or contractors on board, you're now looking to optimize your time and your teams through systems, delegation and more sophisticated workflow.
With all of that said, who is momentum? Not a fit. For now, no hard feelings. We just want to make sure that you do find exactly what you need and what would serve you best. So part of what I'm describing here is stuff that you probably wouldn't resonate with either. So in a way, I'M saving you the the trouble of joining the community and just being disgusted. Like, ugh, this is so annoying. I don't want to be here. So let me tell you who is Momentum Not a fit for other programs will serve you better if you are looking for a financial guarantee along the lines of if you join, you'll earn X. That said, one of the upcoming workshops I'm most excited about is on rapid prototyping and designing your six or seven figure your business with a 15 to 25 hour work week. So it's a focus. It's one of many things we talk about, but it's not our only obsession. And I could never guarantee what you could earn in your business because it depends on so many factors. Not only does it depend on your time, your talent, your sophistication, but I also believe that sometimes, whatever you believe in, God, the universe, like sometimes it's just not in your path to be earning a certain amount of money at a given time. And I don't believe in forcing it. And I don't believe in obsessing over numbers to the extent that you aren't really picking up on signals from the world around you. That said, there are plenty of people online who will, you know, really focus and really hit this hard. Like this is about earning money. Momentum is a little more expanded than that. We don't only cover the money. Maybe you're not into woo woo talk now. I have stopped apologizing for it or qualifying it. Normally I wouldn't even say in a something like this. I wouldn't even say woo woo because I just stopped labeling it as such. But I do talk about energy, intentions, the universe. I'm all about the energetics of money and business and will often give a practical response during Q and A calls as well as the energetic side of it, the intention that you're setting behind something. So you will definitely get sick of me if that's not your style. If you are what Adam Grant defines as a matcher or attention taker, you often feel secretive, protective, defensive about your ideas and your ip. It's probably not a fit. We're more a community of givers. People who give and share freely, are willing to be vulnerable, open, transparent. It will not be a fit if you're committed to a victim mindset or walk through the world glass half empty. Everything is someone else's fault. That's just it doesn't work. This doesn't work. And probably all of us, all of you here listening, reading, have been on a journey of really taking full 100% radical responsibility for your life and especially your business. But if you're someone who's always looking for others to blame, it's not going to work. It's not going to work in your business and it's not going to work in momentum. If you resonate with the hardcore hustle mentality and want to build your business as quickly as possible and as big and as fast and as revenue generating as possible, that's probably not me. I'm more chill, I'm more balanced overall. I do balance like lifestyle, vision and goals with business and going with the flow and riding seasons of work. And so I'm not the type that's just going to hustle, grind, grit all the way to the bank. I of course Gary Vee is like the king of crush it and hustle. Even he has started talking more recently about balance, but he would definitely be more your style. If you're looking for like aggressive build mode, maybe you're building a startup company and hoping to scale with angel or venture funding. That is not my zone of genius. I've never done it. I like to stay delightfully small. Again, no one on my team works full time, even me. That's my style. That's how I like things. But if you're looking to actually build the Silicon Valley style startup and you want angel funding or venture funding, there are other places to go.
That's just not my expertise. Republic though is a great platform for crowdfunding venture capital, so you might want to check that out.
It's not going to be a fit if you're here to extract as much value as you can from the momentum library and then exit before you're charged again. So if that's your kind of thing, like let me sign up, grab everything I can and then head on back out. Cancel my subscription before I get rebuild. That's not ideal. Although There is a 30 day 100% money back guarantee, no questions asked. We still if you're going to enroll, I want it to be with longer term in mind that we are looking for long term community members who might even transition into mentors as their own sophistication grows. And it does take time to get ramped up into something like momentum. I know I can be really shy. I'm a legendary lurker in communities that I join. I'm like very nervous to post in Facebook and it just takes time to learn what's in the library to figure out not just what you can get but what you want to give what you want to offer. So if you're someone that you just want the goods and you want them all and then you want to leave, it's not a good fit. Lastly, if you're someone who does not mind stretching the truth to increase sales, it's not going to work. Momentum is a community of people committed to truth, integrity and walking the talk. Put another way, it's a group of people where what you see is what you get and there are no surprises whether you encounter us online or IRL in real life, as they say. So if you're someone who, like I'm all about act as if. And you know, if you want to start keynote speaking, go ahead and put up a page on your website that says hire me to speak and it has two keynote speeches written on the site. Maybe you start off speaking for free. Of course we all, we all need to stretch in the sense of acting as if gaining confidence. Like, as if I'm already a fully paid professional keynote speaker. But when it comes to you actually lying and fibbing and like stretching the truth in a way that just doesn't honor that, that doesn't work. And it just, it's, it wouldn't work in Momentum. Even if you're an incredible fit, personality wise, maybe you resonate with everything I shared of who is a fit. And you, you also know that the, the non a fit doesn't apply to you. That even, even with that resonance personality wise, depending on your specific business goals, it might not be the best program. Might want to add it as a supplement to some of these programs that I'm about to share. So if you're primarily focused on online marketing and you want to earn money through things like Facebook ads, list building and online courses, there are people way more skilled and passionate about these topics than I am. My favorite is Amy Porterfield. She has amazing courses on those three topics. And you can binge on her podcast like I did. She has such helpful podcasts. Podcasts. Maybe you're someone who wants a start from scratch primer on building your brand and marketing your business. You could benefit from Marie Forleo's B school she has. She launches that once a year. And you can check out her YouTube channel which has tons of archives and her new book Everything is figureoutable. If you are specifically a female founder aiming to grow from 100,000 in revenue to 1 million in revenue, check out Rachel Rogers. Her site and podcast are called hello 7. You can go to hello 7 co. I work with all genders, male, female, non gender. Identifying so I don't segment my audience or the momentum community based on women only, as all are welcome. If you're a life coach and you want to know exactly how to build a life coaching business, you might get more specific guidance and community in Brooke Castillo's Self Coaching Scholars Program. She also has a great podcast, I am a coach, obviously. I've been coaching for over 11 years and we have a lot of coaches in Momentum, but it's not a program dedicated to life coaching and building that out as a business with life coaching at the center of it. Again, we talk about it and I always share what I've learned and what I know about working with clients and how I set up billing. But it's not the only focus. If you want systems building similar to mine with super detailed process checklists for building an online business, including really a philosophy I resonate with so much, that's James Wedmore's business by design. I love that James focuses so much on the energetics of business as well, and he has a great podcast called Mind your Business. So I haven't taken his program. I don't know what's in there. I have a feeling there's some overlap, but that could be a great one to check out. If you are specifically looking to build and grow a membership community, that's something I highly recommend. As you can hear from this about momentum that I've had for over five years, you might benefit from Stu McLaren's It's a Tribe thing podcast and get on the waitlist for his program. Again, some of these are just very specific, so that's why I'm sharing these with you if you just want this one thing. Momentum does cover more ground than these, so that's why I'm sharing. And the last is if you want help building out affiliate programs, the go to guy is Pat Flynn, who's super awesome. He has a great podcast too called Smart Passive Income. Tons of episodes in the art archives. If you want a unique combination of all these with an emphasis on the mindset and the systems that underlie all of the income streams that I just shared, stick around. In that case, I'm thrilled to still be your go to gal, and I'm thrilled that momentum could still be a fit for you. Even this conversation is a lot like what you're going to find in Momentum. It's pointing you places, narrowing down research, letting you know where to go for what what I wrote recommend.
You know, I attribute so much of my early success in platform building to finding friend tours I really think that there's so much obsession with finding mentors, but it's really our peers where we're more available to each other, where we can lift each other up almost in a spiral like way as we grow. Part of joining Momentum, you'll also be in great hands with our fantastic, amazing community Director Stephanie Houston, who is one of the founding members when Momentum first launched in 2014 and a social media strategist and superstar in her own right with over 10 years of experience in the field.
So as a Momentum member you will save time, money and effort. Instead of buying online courses and products that sit dormant, you will actually get to work on these together. You'll block out all the Internet noise, focus on the good stuff with highly curated tips and tools. Q and A sessions with me every two weeks. You will leverage what's working to amplify your best results, improve and build on your skills rapidly prototype new programs. I'm a real fan of agile lean development in the business and you'll of course learn how to pivot when you hit plateaus, a process you can repeat as many times as necessary to gain traction. What does that actually mean? So when you enroll, what will you find inside? You'll get instant access to over 5 years of Q and A call archives and a library that includes dozens of one hour workshops on everything from attracting ideal clients to non sleazy marketing, setting sole goals, writing and launching a book and getting a podcast off the ground. There will be a private Facebook group where you can mastermind and crowdsource resources in real time with other Momentum members. We have twice monthly open Q and A calls. You can submit questions in advance even if you can't make it live and I'll answer those every quarter. I open up spots for 15 minute one on one hot seat coaching sessions that you can apply to if you're wanting to talk through something one on one and those are recorded and shared back out with the group so that others can benefit from from your insights and vice versa. Maybe you don't have a hot seat coaching that quarter because you just don't need it, but you get to listen to everyone else's. I also aim to do at least around three content based workshops to deep dive into a timely skill or topic based directly on input from the group. You're going to get also access to five years of archives so Q and A call recording archives, workshops and over 50 templates templates including the Pivot Mastermind kit for launching your own small accountability group. And you'll get a 30% discount on all of my online courses including Heart of Podcasting, Heart of Book Publishing, Delegation Ninja and anything new that I launch.
Monthly Investment let's talk about price. We will actively help you earn back the cost of Momentum through additional earned income that doesn't just pay for your membership but recurs regularly again always with the aim of helping you build a sustainable business. Now my private coaching retainer is usually somewhere around 1500amonth and I only offer two one on one spots at any given time. VIP strategies days with me in New York city are around 10,000 or approaching 5,000 for a virtual half day session. Momentum membership starts at just 197amonth. It's paid on a monthly basis and it's good until canceled. There is no minimum or maximum commitment. In addition to serving my corporate clients which include companies like Google, Microsoft, Chanel with large scale Pivot Licensing and global Coaching programs, Momentum is really the place that I'll be investing my small heart based business coaching time and energy and pretty much the only way you can sign up to work with me in 2020 and beyond. It is certainly our goal, if not our obsession again to help you earn back the cost of enrollment and and then some. If you know you're interested but you're debating whether to wait for the next round, I would highly suggest joining now as you'll be grandfathered in at this price for life. The investment won't be this low again because we raise the price every year and every launch as the value in the community grows exponentially over time. And right now we're only launching once to twice a year. So it's it's not something where you'll just be able to enroll when it's you feel like it. Part of the reason for that is we want to make sure that everyone gets onboarded and successfully integrated into the community. So if we have rolling enrollment it's little. You're kind of out on an island by yourself. So part of the reason that there is this time sensitivity around the decision is so that we can bring in everyone all at the same time. There are three investment options for how you want to get support and momentum. You can sign up for one on one coaching with one of the Pivot coaches and they will work with you in two private one on one calls a month with email email in between to help set your strategy, vision and business systems. That's 9.97amonth and you'll get everything that comes in the Momentum member tier for one 97 along with these two one on one calls. And that can be a way to just completely turbocharge because you'll work one by one by one on your biggest priorities and your biggest blind spots and even what you're learning in the community to just dismantle barriers very quickly, Quickly as you go at the Momentum member tier again, that's 197. You will be able to submit questions for me, that's, that's where I kind of answer directly back out to the group and that hot seat coaching. And maybe you'll have what you need. So it's possible too that if you want this a little more low key, then I definitely recommend the Momentum member tier. And there are tons, like I said, tons of archives on questions that you've probably had in your own business. Business too, and workshops. And then there are just six spots at the Momentum VIP tier. That's 1997amonth, so a little under 2000. And that includes everything in the member tier as well as a monthly small group virtual VIP Strategy Day. Mastermind with me. So all six of us, it'll be seven, including me, will meet once a month and I will design a VIP Strategy Day, just like I do with private clients who come to New York. This will be virtual. It'll be held over zoom, it will be recorded. But this is where you, we will all together roll up our sleeves and dig in. So if you feel sometimes people, I mean, the pivot coaches are amazing. They've all had decades of experience in their own right. But every now and then someone thinks, no, I just only want to work directly with Jenny and I want to create some spots for that. This is an experiment as well. But there are six spots at this tier and you'll also get a one on one call with me in each month to set your game plan for this Virtual Strategy day. Because I want to make sure that when we all show up for the Virtual Strategy Day, you're prepared, you know what you're working on, you know what you want to get out of it. And that's a process that I follow when I work with private clients in New York as well.
When you enroll, no matter which tier, if you want momentum one on one with a pivot coach, momentum member is 197amonth or Momentum VIP has that monthly virtual group VIP day and only six spots. Six spots for that one. No matter what tier you sign up for, there are some amazing enrollment bonuses. So in addition to all of the regular features and benefits of Momentum, you will get access to Pivot to profit A six month course with step by step systems for designing your ideal six figure heart based business. I will be teaching this across those four solopreneur intelligence quadrants that we talked about and I'm really excited. I'm going to build this with your specific needs in mind as we go over six months together. You'll also get, if you haven't already taken it, free up Founder Time a 15 lesson mini course to immediately free up 2 to 5 hours of time per week to do your best creative thinking and strategic business building. You will also get and I'm so excited about this one. Do this next. It's a 30 day systems quick start another mini course of sorts though it's quite robust across the four solopreneur Intelligence quadrants. I am giving you exactly what I would do if I were starting from scratch. So it's literally called do this Next. These are the things I'm not usually very prescriptive as a coach because I trust that you know yourself and your business best, but there are certain things that I will just say do not pass go. You gotta have this, you gotta do this. You need these apps. You'll also get my Business Ninja tech toolkit for going pro, which is a list of all the the business services that I subscribe to and pay for with what tier that I pay for on a recurring monthly basis. I'm actually giving you access not to edit it, but to view the spreadsheet I use to track all these services that I pay for every month on a recurring basis. So you're seeing it in real time and that's what I keep updated whenever I subscribe to something or downgrade my plan and so you'll see what I've refined. I really love geeking out on tools and software, but it's possible to have too many as well. Sometimes people just sign up for anything and everything and then don't know how to tie them all together. So you will get access to that list, which I think can go a long way toward helping you design a lean business like mine where you don't have to necessarily hire everybody full time, even yourself, because you have so many smart systems in place. There are only 150 spots available, so that's important to know about the Momentum membership tier. Actually, each of the three tiers does have a limit on number of people, so we're either going to close it all down on Tuesday or when that tier fills up. So if six people sign up for the VIP Mastermind with me every month, then they sign up on day one. That's closed. And same with Pivot coaching. We have a limited number of spots available and for the main Momentum member tier there's 150 spots. I can never predict the future. I never know what the demand will be at any given time in time. But I will say, if you're at all thinking about it, now is the time. Remember, we do offer a 30 day hundred percent money back guarantee and we're so committed to helping you earn back your investment. This is not a program or a community where we want to just take your money and like not give you tremendous value. We only want to work with people who are thrilled to be working with us. People for whom Momentum is a business. No brainer. So again, if within the first month you look around, you start the Pivot to Profit course and you complete our very short list of orientation steps but decide it's not what you need, we will gladly give you a refund, no questions asked.
So with all that, if you want to enroll, we would be so thrilled to have you and welcome you into the fold. Just go to pivotmethod.com Momentum that's pivotmethod.com Momentum Woohoo.
