112: Self Discipline Is The Door To Financial Success - #GrowYourLife
Jeremiah Gracowski delivers a solo talk on why self-discipline matters for business success and personal growth. He shares coaching insights and pushes listeners to take ownership of their lives and finances to hit their goals.
Hello everyone and welcome to the Grow youw Life podcast. My name is Jeremiah Gracowski. On this podcast we talk about ways for you to grow in your life and in your business. Because I think that if you grow in your life and your mindset, you can just do a lot more. When you have a business that's profitable, you can scale your life and live a bigger life. They work together. I don't really believe in work life balance. I believe in living a powerful life and business is a part of that. But not letting business control you, prioritizing your relationships above everything else. That's what we talk about and how to build profitable businesses to seven figures. I've helped multiple business owners over the years build their businesses to seven figures. That's what I love to help you with as well. We got clients that we're working with every single week, like dawn, who's scaling her business multiple six figures now since she's been coaching with me. Or like Rick, multiple seven figures since he's been working with me. And that's what I love helping people do through this podcast, through my one on one coaching and through my courses is helping people scale their vision, their dreams and make more money online. Listen, if you haven't yet, you can schedule a free 15 minute call with me on my website. We can talk about your business and how to take it to the next level. There's also a free Facebook group called the GrowYourLife Facebook group. With over 1500 people just like yourself that are growing in their life, in their business. You can ask any question in there. No such thing as stupid questions. You don't need to worry about wasting people's time or being a burden or possibly posting a dumb question and being judged by people. Judgment free zone. But there's some smart people in there that can really answer many, pretty much all the questions that you probably have. If you're listening to this podcast, you can get those questions answered or at least pointed in the right direction in the Grow youw Life Facebook group. Now today we're going to talk about self discipline and why it's so important. I believe it's one of the most important keys to making more money in a business. Your financial future is decided based on your ability to do things that you don't feel like doing. And many times we talk ourselves out of our goals, out of our future, because we're afraid of doing things that don't feel good as well. We're like, well, I want to be aligned in my business. I want to Be aligned with what's right for me. And we don't discipline ourselves to do the hard things. We're justifying our bad habits as personality traits and we're just spinning in circles. We say, that's how I am. And we give up our opportunity to grow in this area of self discipline. I have to tell you this, you have to grow in self discipline and it's probably going to be painful for you, probably going to be one of the most painful things. How do I know that? Because it's actually been one of the most painful things for me is to grow in self discipline. But as I grow in it, a big part of my growth process with self discipline has come through therapy, working with a therapist to help me figure out limiting beliefs and traumas and things of my past childhood, things that were impacting me today, 20 years later, 30 years later, that happened when I was a couple years old, that were stopping me from having self discipline. It's amazing. It's incredible. And as I've grown in that way, I've learned tools, tips, techniques and strategies to be more disciplined. Your financial future is directly tied to your ability to set boundaries with yourself and to have self discipline and to not be tossed to and fro by what's going on around you and outside of you and what you're experiencing, whether it be your family, your friends, your spouse, your church, whatever it is, these, these things that are outside of you. Learning self discipline is about self control. And it's actually, if you're somebody that's a faith is considered a fruit of the spirit is self control, that is self discipline. As a business owner, not having self discipline is not an option. You will cap yourself, prevent yourself, and stop yourself from growing to reach your goals. This is going to be some hard truths here. By not having self discipline, by justifying it as that's just my personality type, that's just the way I am sorry to tell you this, but you are the one responsible for that and you can change that and you will need to change that. This is one of those things that if you're not willing to grow in self discipline, you need to get a job because somebody else will discipline you for you. As you grow as a business owner, make more money. You can hire staff and a team to help you with discipline, but you got to get past that hump and make enough money to hire people to do that. And that's not going to happen by some magical, random chain of events where things finally align and they come together in my life And I can finally have the moment where I can be disciplined enough to finally do the things that I've been waiting to do in my life. I'm sorry, but that's crap. And I hear that from people so often that they're waiting for a magical moment in the future where they're ready enough to be disciplined in their business. You got to cut that thinking out. That thinking is limiting you and keeping you right where you are today. When you make it an intentional part of your life to develop self discipline, to do hard things, to do things that you don't feel like doing because they'll benefit you later. When you don't feel like recording a podcast episode at 12 in the afternoon on a Thursday. But you know that your schedule is long and you're not going to have an opportunity to do it. And so you discipline yourself to do it when you have the time. Rather than waiting until the perfect time arrives for you. You make the time to do those things and you create your life and you take ownership over your life. You will then have the freedom to to grow and build the business that's possible for you. Far too many people are waiting for life to happen to them and justifying their toxic bad habits and lack of self discipline and then complaining about waiting for some kind of magic strategy to be successful when all they need to do is just show up more consistently and do the work and stop talking themselves out of it and stop overthinking and ruminating about how everything can go wrong and being stuck in their head and sitting on the couch and waiting until the stars align. Just disciplining yourself to do the work will move the needle forward for you. What are the biggest things that keep us from being disciplined? Past experiences when we've had disciplined moments, how things didn't work out in our favor. And so it's like touching a hot stove. You were disciplined. Things didn't go how you wanted them to. So you're never going to do that again. You're going to just sit around and wait until magic moment happens. This Disney fantasy that you've come up with in your head of some moment when you're ready to take the leap towards your goals, when you're ready to move forward. Or you can choose that you're ready today and discipline yourself to do what you can do, even if it doesn't look like how you think it should, even if there's not a guaranteed result. You do the work. You show up consistently. You humble yourself to ask for help in the areas that you don't know how to do. Instead of striving and waiting and hoping that some magic star drops on you that gives you the keys that you've been waiting for. That magical little fairy dust is never going to come, my friends. It's not. You have to create it in your life. And it only comes by self discipline. It only comes by owning every action that you do and not trying to blame things outside of you for why they're going that way. Not trying to blame your kids or your spouse or your situation for why you are where you are today. And instead choosing to to design your life the way that you want to, regardless of what's going on around you. You're not responsible for other people's feelings in your life. You're not responsible for managing and maintaining and controlling other people. Self control is where you need to get to and focus yourself on. How can I control myself? How can I. How can I control my limiting beliefs? How can I control where my focus is? And how can I control how tenacious and consistent I am at showing up and doing the work every single day, even when I'm not seeing a result, even when I'm not sure that it's going to work out. That I'm going to stay consistent. Instead of waiting until magic Disney moment shows up that things have happened for me the way that I want to. Instead of waiting until like an entitled child that things are going to go how I need them to and sitting around whining like a little baby that things are not going my way. Yeah, I see grown 50 year olds, 60 year olds saying things are not going my way. So I'm going to give up. Is that working out for you? How is that working out for you? It's not. And it's never going to. Maybe your life has told you that if you whine loud enough and you're a squeaky little wheel that you'll get. You'll get oiled. And that by being a loud little squeaky little wheel, you'll get oiled and crying about how things are not working out. It's going to. Somebody's going to show up and fix it for you. Maybe that has been how your life has been up to this moment. But I'm here to give you a dose of reality. Business and entrepreneurship will never work that way. Might work that way in toxic relationships, it might work that way in toxic family structures and even in churches and things like that. But not in business. Not as an entrepreneur. You're going to have to learn a new skill set. You're going to have to learn a new way of doing things and you will never succeed in business having that baby attitude that whines and complains and is waiting until the magic stars line up and and somebody comes and coddles you and carries you along the way. Stop waiting for somebody else to show up in your life. Stop waiting for somebody else to have the self discipline for you and start being disciplined in your life. Stop justifying it that I oh I got kids so I can't be disciplined to make videos. Stop saying oh I got this going on so I can't do this. I'm sorry my friends, that's an exc. And it's a lie that you've been telling yourself that you've been believing for far too long. Give it up. Stop it. Or go get a job somewhere and give up on this fantasy pipe dream of having a business. Because that's all it is. It's a pipe dream. It's a fantasy. It's something that you've made up in your head out of psychosis that you will never be able to accomplish with that mindset. Or you can choose to change your mindset instead of being insane and and having the psychosis to believe that things are going to happen in this fantasy world. You can choose to design your life in a way that's going to serve you and it's going to get you results. Those are your two choices. You can either live in that fantasy or choose to design your life. And far too many of you, I know this, are listening to my podcast Living in that fantasy land because it feels good and you've lived there for far too long because it's what is your comfort zone and your normal in your life. The only way that you're going to get to the next level to reach your goals is to reject that past normal, that comfort zone, and expand your comfort zone. Do what terrifies you to the point that you feel like you might need to puke your guts out to get to the next level. Be willing to do those things that scare the crap out of you on a regular basis with discipline and consistency. Even if you don't know how they're going to turn out. Even if you don't know how people are going to judge you or your spouse is going to say negative comments to you about is this one of those other little things that isn't going to work anymore? Yes, I know that people have those squawk boxes going on in their head. They got family members and friends and people talking negatively to them. Some of you need to just shut out and stop associating yourself with people that tear you down all the time and walk away from those situations and stop letting them speak into your life. Yes, I get it. They may be in your home, they may be in your space, but you don't have to listen to them. You don't. You don't have to listen to anybody's negativity. Anybody who's tearing you down and telling you that you're never going to succeed. You're the one that gets to choose. How do you want to design your life? And how do you want to go forward to the next level? Or you can decide to choose to stay right where you are right now and never move and keep complaining and whining like a little baby. It's up to you. That's it. So your two choices. So self discipline is a requirement for any kind of business success. Stop being controlled as a victim to your circumstances. Are you in a toxic situation? Get out of it. Figure out how to get out of it. Figure out how to structure and design your life to get the flip out of. Dodge out of those situations that are not serving you and start creating the life that is going to serve you. Comes by self discipline. It comes by boundaries. It comes by being willing to say, I am no longer going to live that life and I'm going to live the life that I know that I need to do. You're the sum total of the five people that you spend the most time with and take advice from. Who are the five people that you're letting speak into your life every single day? Are they successful business owners? Are they people that are helping move you forward towards your goals? Are they, Are they trying to keep you right where you are right now? You have the power to choose to stay right where you are in your little fantasy land or move forward and become a grown up business owner that is disciplined, that shows up, that does the work, that does hard things and isn't afraid to get down and dirty and get their feet wet. It's up to you. And that's the choice that you have to make. Are you going to whine like a little baby and cry until somebody shows up and saves me? Or are you going to pick yourself up and go after your dreams and go after your goals and stop playing the victim to what's going on around you and instead choosing to build the life that you know is possible for you? Are you willing to humble yourself and ask for help from somebody who's walked the path already to help guide you? Are you trying to compare yourself to people to prove them wrong? Are you comparing yourself to people that are more successful than you and not willing to ask them how they got there? Because you're trying to one up somebody and have a competition with them that's so counterintuitive and stupid. To be that way, to think that way, to live that way, because you are choosing to live the worst possible life of existence, of comparison. Comparing yourself to other people and how they do things and how I would never do things how they do or I would never say things how they did or I would never do it that way. Great. Then don't get over it and stop being critical of other people. Start building your life. Start designing your life the way that you want to design it. Start designing your life in a way that serves you. Instead of it being some just accepting how it's been given to you and complaining about it and hoping somebody steps up someday and changes it for you. Listen, if you're an employee, a boss can change your life any moment they want. You, as a business owner, you're the one that gets to decide how that life goes, how things are going for you, how they're going to be changed, and how you're going to keep moving forward. You can either keep living the stupid cycle or you can build a business that's successful, something that serves you and helps you reach your goals. It's up to you. What choice are you going to choose, my friends? You can't have both. Can't stay in the stupid cycle and hope to have a successful business. You gotta literally shift your state completely to change things for you. And if you're willing to learn how to do hard things and learn to do things differently than you have up to this moment in time. That's who I love to help. That's why I love to work with, to help people grow to multiple six figures and seven figures in their business. And I'd love to help you with that as well. You can schedule that free 15 minute call with me on my website. I do one on one coaching. We got over 112 podcast episodes on this podcast, all about these different topics that you're going through. How do I know that you're going through them? Because it's the stuff that all the people that I coach go through. So I speak on the same issues. If you're probably dealing with this issue, probably dealing with the other stuff that I talk about. Once you can grow in these areas and discipline yourself to do the work and show up and set boundaries and be a powerful person instead of a victim. Your life will come together for you. Your financial success will come together for you. And you can create the life that you want. I'd love to talk with you.
