Hello, and welcome to the Grow youw Life podcast. My name is Jeremiah Karkowski, and on this episode, we're going to talk about ways for you to grow in your life and in your business. Now, in coaching people over the last couple years, I've realized a lot of people get really overwhelmed about their goals and about how to accomplish them and even where to start. I did a video in my grow your life group. The hashtag grow your life group. If you're not in there, join it on Facebook. And it was so impactful. Just even to myself, I was recording it. And I realized that instead of re recording it as a podcast, I'm just gonna make that this podcast. And so if you listen to it all the way in the group, that's awesome. If you didn't listen all the way through, I really would recommend listening to the end because the meat of it is at the end of it. And that's really the case with most of these podcast episodes. A lot of times when people don't listen to the end, they actually miss the entire point of the podcast. And so take a listen to this. I think it's really gonna help you get to the next level in your business. And we'll talk soon. Good morning, Everybody in the GrowWYourLife community. I want to talk to you about breaking free from overwhelm in your business. And I want to start doing more videos like this in the group. Some training videos for you in this group. We're also going to do some live Q and A and stuff. If you have questions throughout this video or you're watching the recording, say what's up? Leave a comment below and let me know your questions that you have while we're going through this. Here's the deal is that a lot of people that I talk to in business that are starting out, no matter or they're successful, no matter where they're at, they hit a plateau when overwhelmed comes. And so overwhelm becomes their plateau. And until they break free from the overwhelm, they can't get to the next level of where they're going. Now, you can, however, drive past overwhelm and have results, okay? Because a lot of times, overwhelm is your comfort zone. And so what you have to do is learn how to break free from the overwhelm and expand your comfort zone. And that will help you. But here's the deal. That's a lot easier said than done. And I know that personally because I overwhelm myself often in my business. I've seen A number of questions come in. People asking about domain names, social media profiles, things like that. And those are great questions. But if you're getting stuck in your business because you don't know the answers to them, the only reason that you aren't where you want to be is because you're just not trying something differently than what you have up to this point. Meaning you're allowing that need to do everything perfect to dictate what you will do next and prevent you from going past the boundaries of this comfort zone. And Dave Meltzer had a great conversation about this. I'm gonna kind of summarize what he talked about. Is this overwhelm in our comfort zone indicates this, that we are expanding our comfort zone. And we have to expand it because our capacity is growing. We're growing beyond just the basic level of our comfort zone. We're growing into that next level. Okay? And in here is what we call the learning zone is outside of it. You have to strategically expand your comfort zone into the learning zone and learn new things, because you've been trying to maintain what is inside your comfort zone, maintain what is going on around you, maintain what you're doing with the same tools that you've had up to this point without learning anything new. And this creates that overwhelm because you know that you have to expand the comfort zone, but you don't know how. And so what Dave Meltzer said is this is outside the learning zone, is what we call the anxiety zone. Okay? And in the anxiety zone, this is how a lot of people are trying to expand their comfort zone is by staying in the anxiety zone without ever learning the tools that they need to get there. You need to stair step it. Once you expand out of the comfort zone into the learning zone, then you can expand into the anxiety zone. But you want to test and you want to touch the borders of the anxiety zone with the learning zone. Meaning you expand how you do things. You touch it, you touch the anxiety zone, you touch those things that you're maybe afraid of doing. And that might be as simple as just putting a video out there, just starting a website on Squarespace, just setting up your social media profiles, just starting a Facebook group, but you're getting overwhelmed based on. Is my domain name right? Is my website name right? Is my social media profile set up right? And this is causing anxiety because you haven't learned the right things to do, and then you're looking at all the things you have to learn because you haven't learned anything up to that point. That is going to get you out of that comfort zone. And you become overwhelmed, and it hurts. It hurts your mind, okay, to make this simple, you need to learn the basics. The basics, learn the process, learn the very simple low level thing, the simplest thing. And until you master that simple thing, you can't get to the next level. Yet. So often people are stuck in comparing what's in the anxiety zone to their comfort zone, and they get overwhelmed because they haven't learned how to get there. They haven't learned what they need to do to take them to the next level. And they're trying to go based on what they already know. And so that's why this community exists. That's why it exists. And I want to help. You know, what do you need to learn? If it's as simple as social media profiles, I have a podcast for that. I believe it's episode number 18. If it's about websites, I have a podcast for that. It's episode number three. If it's about Facebook ads, I have a podcast episode for that. And yet there's these podcast episodes that are sitting there that don't cost anything. And people still haven't watched them up to this point that for some reason they're waiting on the perfect moment to get out of the overwhelm, out of the comfort zone, into the anxiety zone without ever learning anything new because they're so prideful about what they've already learned, that they refuse to learn something new and different than what they know right now because they believe that they know everything, that they know everything that it takes to get to that next level. And I want to honor you, and I want to say this. You probably learned a lot. You probably learned a lot of great stuff. In fact, I believe that most of you watching this right now know exactly the process to make a million dollars. You know exactly how you would make a million dollars, but you're putting the puzzle pieces in the wrong order because you haven't learned the right order to do things. And the process. And so that's what the podcast, the Grow youw Life podcast is for. That's what my course, Website Building Made Easy, is for, is that people can take that course. And I teach a framework of how to create a website that gets results by distilling what I've been doing over the last 15 years to help business owners grow, to make seven and eight figures into a course for you. That's what the podcast is. Those podcasts aren't just things to make me feel good about myself. They're to help you by taking what I've learned and distilling it for you into a 60 minute, 30 minute maybe training for you. And yet I ask people often, how many podcast episodes of mine have you listened to? How many of them have you listened to? And they come up with these reasons why they don't have time because they're making their time management be their excuse for why they can't learn things. Because if they have to come to grips with the fact that the way that they've been managing their time up to this point point, even though it's exactly what somebody, a good, well meaning person, taught them, maybe Stephen Covey. I don't want to bash him. His system is incredible. It works. But some people worship a system without ever having the context to apply it to their situation. And then they're trying to apply it with what they already know. And that creates overwhelm. And this is what I was doing, you know, for some of you that know my story, my experience working with my mom and other business owners, I've learned so much about what works, but I was applying it in a way that didn't work for me, in fact. So here's what I want to say, is that those lessons that I had learned from Stephen Covey, you know, lessons that I had learned with my mom about advertising, copywriting, social media, they worked. But the puzzle pieces weren't in the right order because I was actually using the excuse of I don't have enough time to learn how to apply them. And I was getting overwhelmed. And I believe that there's some of you right now that are in that situation where you've been trained, you know what to do, you know what works. You know it so well that you could probably quote it better than the person that taught you, but you're putting the puzzle pieces in the wrong order. And so I want to encourage you, if you're that person today, go check out the podcast. Go check out episode number 18. It's on setting up your social media profiles the right way. I think I'm going to do a podcast next week about setting up a Facebook group the right way, using a Facebook group to grow your business. There's episode number three about setting up your website. I have an episode about content creation on video, getting traffic and customers with Facebook ads. I have a blog post about what works to get customers with ads. And yet what I found is with almost everybody that I've coached on my Grow youw Life calls and people that I've been coaching is that they're using this excuse of overwhelm and time, and they're holding these two as these sacred cows of time management. I don't have enough time, and I'm overwhelmed. And they're using these broken systems because they haven't really learned what works best for them. They're going based on what other people have told them as best. And they become overwhelmed because they're not expanding their comfort zone into the learning zone to increase their capacity, increase their territory into good. Going into that anxiety zone, and that anxiety zone becoming their new comfort zone. Here's the deal. For you to go to the next level for what you're doing, for what you're called to do, your destiny, whatever. I don't want to make it this. This too spiritual here, quote, unquote. But I want to say for you to go to that, if you're somebody that's like me, you probably believe that you are made with a purpose. You want to go fulfill that purpose. You know what's possible, but you've probably not been taught exactly how to do it. And so you have to learn, and you have to take that sacred cow of your time and your overwhelm, take ownership over the choices that you've made up to this point and how you're using your time, and then let time flow. Don't spend so much time actively managing your time. You need to manage your time, but it needs to not be your number one priority. And stress and anxiety, anxiety. And if time management, overwhelm are your biggest anxiety, that's the anxiety zone. And so here's a diagram of this. This right here for you is your social media. Okay? Your website, that's an M. Your website, that's out here, but you're not gonna get there because you're so stuck in this learning and anxiety zone of just how to manage the stress of time and overwhelm. That when you try to go here and do the social media and the website stuff and the videos and the Facebook ads, and you get it. You get what I'm talking about. You get overwhelmed by this because you haven't learned how to manage the stress, manage the anxiety, manage the time in a way that it's not so active, you're still in the baby stages of learning that you're still in the baby stages of managing that and getting past that level and growing into that. And so that's why this community is called grow your life for you to get to that next level. Because here's the other thing, too. There's A level outside of this and outside of this level is that 1, 100,000 to $1,000,000 business level, okay? But you're not going to be able to get to that 100,000 to $1 million business level without getting past the overwhelm and getting out of your comfort zone and learning how to manage the anxiety, the stress, the worry, the time anxiety and holding time as the sacred cow that you have to manage. You have to take ownership over your choices, why you are where you are right now in this moment. Then use a system and a plan. That way you don't have to focus all of your energy on the overwhelm. That way then you can spend your time in learning the social media, the videos, the website stuff. But you can't even learn this because you haven't learned the anxiety management, the time management stuff, okay? And so this is one of the biggest areas that I'm noticing is I see a lot of people with potential to get to a million dollars, but they haven't even learned how to manage their stress. They haven't learned how to manage their home. They haven't learned how to manage their personal finances. They haven't learned how to manage their relationships and friendships and their time. And they're so focused on their lack of time, they're focusing on lack of time more than learning how to get to that next level. And here's what happens, okay? Here's what happens. Here's the amount of energy that you have, okay? This is your energy when you're focusing your energy on your lack of time. We're going to call this lack of time and overwhelm. Overwhelm. This is all the energy that you have in the day to do what you're called to do, to do what is required of you. And yet you're spending all of this energy on that lack of time. And this is the amount of energy you have left for family, for business, for friends, and for your health. And so you become overwhelmed by the lack of time because you're focusing all of your energy on that lack of time, okay? And you're giving the leftovers to this family, business, health, and friendship stuff and then wondering why you can't get past the comfort zone and why you're overwhelmed. You need to flip the script on this. We could call this 8020 right here, okay? And this is the 8020 principle. What happens is a lot of times people are spending 80% of their time on what they're anxious about, their lack of, what they don't have, and 20% of what they do want. And so you just got to flip the script of that. You got to flip it to where you spend 80% of your time on the family, business, health, friends, and 20% on the management of your time. Now, how much energy do you have to focus on learning about social media, learning about and getting better at doing videos, getting better at building a website, maybe going through my website building made easy course. How much energy would you have left if you shifted from all of your time spent on the overwhelm and focusing on the lack and instead putting that on the back burner as the lowest priority? The anxiety, the thing that you're anxious about and focusing on flowing in the things that you want. And for me, it really started with starts with family, my wife and I. Business, health, not sacrificing health. A lot of people, they work on family and business and they sacrifice health and even friends because they end up putting themselves last. And other people have different orders for this stuff, depending on if you're single, if you're married, if you have kids, your bills, your goals. And so here's the other thing that I see happen is people are organizing these buckets, so to speak, we'll call them buckets. We have the family bucket, we have the business bucket, we have the health bucket, and we have the friend bucket. They look like V's, okay? And you have these spigots, these spouts that come out. And this is your energy. This is the 80% energy right here, okay? This is your 80% energy. This is friends, and this is health, okay? And what I see a lot of times people do is they focus so much on that they end up putting 80% into their health or 80% into their business or 80% into their family or 80% into their friends. And there's a. There's an imbalance. And whichever one they're usually putting it in is the one that they're most worried about. And so they're using again, another 80, 20 of this bucket in the thing that they're most worried about. They're putting 80% into their fear, their anxiety, and 20% into learning new things, 20% into developing better relationships, developing their personal health, developing their business. And what I see a lot of times happens is people will end up putting. For me, it was way too much into business and health, not enough into family. And I wasn't learning about family. I was learning all this stuff about health and about business growth and even about friends and not enough into family. And when I flipped this, I flipped 80% of my time in learning energy. So sometimes it's just learning about health, sometimes it's learning about business, sometimes it's learning about ways in family. So you get it. So the idea is you maintain and you get out of the state of scarcity, anxiety and fear and worry and those things that you're fearful about. The only reason that you're fearful and worried and anxious is because you don't know what you're doing and you don't know the best thing to do. And so make it intentional to spend the time that it takes to learn those things to grow the personal growth. And that is why personal growth is so important. Personal growth is so important. Now, I'm not talking about. Because you could get anal and analytical to focus on that. Spending 80% of your time on personal growth and everything else falls through the cracks of family. You go broke in your business, you lose. Lose your health and all that because you're acquiring too much knowledge and skill. So this is the other side of this is getting filled up too much with knowledge and skill and not ever applying it. And so that's why then you need to apply 80% of your time in action, 20% in learning in these buckets and these areas, not the ones that you're most fearful of, but the ones that you and you apply. More learning in the ones that you have anxiety in, and more action in the ones that you're more comfortable in. So you spend 80% of your action in those areas that you're comfortable, 20% of your action in those that you're not, and 80% of your action in life learning in the ones that you're anxious about, 20% of action in the ones that you're not. And so for me, what I found is this, is that I'm having to focus more on family, more on relationships, more on business, less on health. I've had a lot of people ask me, they're like, why are you not working out three hours a day? Jeremiah, what happened? Well, three hours a day doesn't work. So I'm focusing on the stress, the anxiety, which was actually hurting my health. Spending time going for a walk on the treadmill, spending time playing with the dogs, spending time growing in my relationship with my wife, spending time building my business and taking action and getting out of that comfort zone by making sure that my energy was balanced between learning and applying properly. And yet, so often I see people then they spend so much time on personal growth that they never take action. Okay, so you need to apply what you're learning and maintain this and flow with it. And if you feel like, hey, maybe I should learn that, just go into it. Go check it out. Go pick up books. I want to show you something. A couple books that I started reading are making graphic novels, Story of Marriage Programming, Bitcoin. Okay. And so these are areas that I've been learning, but I've also been learning personal development stuff and growing in applying and taking action. So I have habits of highly effective people, different things like that that I've been learning from and realizing, wow, I didn't know as much as I thought I did or I knew the right stuff, but I wasn't applying it in the right order and putting the puzzle pieces in the right order. And so here's my commitment to you in this group in the Grow youw Life community is I want to help you to take massive action to get massive results. I want to help 100,000 people make a million dollars. And I don't want to do it by just filling people with useless knowledge that they're not going to be able to apply and take action in the areas that they need right away. And so I want you to leave a comment below of what questions you might have while I've been going through this. What are those areas that you need to learn in and grow in? And what areas do you think that you should focus your action time in? And I'm going to start to make podcasts, those things.
