A speaker argues that compassion is essential for anyone doing healing ministry. Without it, skeptics and accusations of charlatanism will make you quit. Compassion pushes you to pray harder, study scripture, and examine yourself when healings don't happen.
Chapters
If you don't have compassion for the sick, you will not last in the healing ministry. That compassion for the sick is what makes all the criticism worth it. All the skeptics, all the people who just don't understand God's healing power, all of the misconceptions you have to work through. There's this caricature that people have in their mind of people who pray for the sick— charlatans, con artists. Oh, you must be charging for the healing. All of these misconceptions that you have to work through. But if you don't have compassion for the sick, you'll give up. You'll quit on them. And by the way, compassion for the sick makes you wanna be a better Christian. Because if you pray for someone and they don't get healed, if you don't have compassion, you just go, okay, I'm gonna move on with my day. They didn't get healed, oh well. But if you have compassion for the sick and they don't get healed, you're driven to the scripture, you're driven to prayer, you're driven to say, Lord, you gotta show me, how do I see your healing power manifest so intensely that even sicknesses like that are healed? Lord, how do I come to the place where you walked, where you could minister with such healing power that even those who were completely deaf, even those who were completely blind, were completely healed? Even the paralyzed would get up and walk instantaneously. How do we get to that place? Compassion will drive you there. When there's that compassion, you're driven to your knees in prayer. You seek the face of God. You examine your own heart and life. Lord, is there anything in my life that's blocking this flow of healing? That's why compassion is key.
