1:18
A Christian doubting their faith because of sin and shame might actually have proof of the Holy Spirit inside them. The struggle itself, the resistance to giving in, shows God is working. Don't let your failures convince you that you're fake.

Do you ever feel like a fake? As in, you go to church, you get around fellow Christians, you look around and ask, do I really belong here? Am I even truly saved? If so, you're not alone. Many Christians face this kind of inner battle because they struggle with doubt or with some sin or with a character flaw. They feel guilt and shame, and they even begin to doubt their identity in Christ. But here's the encouraging reality that may at first sound odd. Your struggle with sin is Actually proof that you belong to God. Now, let me explain that. Ask yourself, who is it in me that's struggling against the darkness? It's the Holy Spirit. You see, if you didn't have the Holy Spirit, you wouldn't be struggling with sin, you'd just be sinning. You wouldn't be resisting it, you would just be giving in. There'd be nothing resisting that sin nature. The fact that you're struggling means you're fighting it. And if you're fighting it, then the Holy Spirit is the one who's giving you that desire to fight. Don't allow your battle to make you doubt your identity. Keep going. Together, you and the precious Holy Spirit are going to win this battle.
