God speaks to you through the Holy Spirit, not through your own effort. The speaker points to Jonah, Pharaoh, and Saul as proof: God reached Jonah even when he ran, hardened Pharaoh's heart yet still spoke to him, and stopped Saul mid-persecution to speak directly. Trust that God will find you.
It's good to listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit. Yes, it's good to seek after the face of God. But when all is said and done, we have to remember that it does not depend upon us. Think of Jonah. He was running from God. God still put him on the right course. Pharaoh hardened his heart. God still spoke to him. Look at Saul. Saul was on his way to persecute Christians. He wasn't trying to listen for Jesus, yet Jesus spoke to him. You will not miss him. You cannot miss him. Why? Because it depends on you. depends on him. Trust not in your ability to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit. Trust in the Holy Spirit's ability to get through to you.
