In this teaching, speaker Jeremiah Tipton challenges the common perception of the Holy Spirit as an external force and emphasizes that the Holy Spirit actually dwells within every believer. He explains that recognizing this indwelling reality unlocks the "inner life," a source of joy, love, peace, holiness, clarity, power, and spiritual gifts. The key to accessing these blessings is not acquiring more of the Spirit, but surrendering oneself so the Spirit can "have more of you" and flow through you. Tipton urges listeners to retreat inward—especially during trials—rather than focusing on external circumstances, describing this inward fellowship as the true way to experience the Holy Spirit. He concludes by directing the audience to a resource, "Holy Spirit: God Within You," available at encounterthespirit.com.

Many Christians, when they think about the Holy Spirit, they think about Him as like a force or a mist or a power hovering somewhere out there, maybe on the ceiling during a worship service. And very rarely do people imagine the Holy Spirit as He actually is, and that is living in them. And this revelation is what causes people to understand the power of the inner life. And this, I pray, is a revelation that we would capture again in the church today. The inner life. Out of the innermost being will flow rivers of living water. Knowing that I already have the Holy Spirit, And that as I yield to the work of the Spirit in me, I see the manifestation of his influence. There's joy within me. I just have to surrender to the Holy Spirit to tap into that joy. There's love and peace and holiness and clarity of mind already dwelling within me. I just have to yield to his work so that that might flow out of me. There's power in me. There are gifts in me and in you if you're a born-again believer. It's not a matter of you getting more of the Holy Spirit. It's a matter of the Holy Spirit Getting more of you. And he gets more of you through surrender. And you allow those rivers to flow, the inner life. And when life becomes difficult, when you face trials, when you feel like you just can't handle what's happening around you, or you want to quit, you're saying, I'm done. I don't want to do this anymore. I just want to give up. Well, that's when you begin to— instead of focusing on the exterior, you begin to retreat to the inner place. That's what it means to be in fellowship with the Holy Spirit. To learn more about the Holy Spirit, get Holy Spirit: God Within You at encounterthespirit.com.
