I AM

God revealed himself to Moses as
Chapters
From the glow of the burning bush, God called Moses to lead the children of Israel out from under the oppressive hand of Egyptian slavery. Fearing the assignment and overwhelmed by his own sense of inadequacy, Moses protested, insisting that perhaps God should give the assignment to someone else. That's when God revealed his nature to Moses. But Moses protested, if I go to the people of Israel and tell them the God of your ancestors has sent me to you, they will ask, what is his name? Then what should I tell them? God replied to Moses, I am who I am. Say this to the people of Israel: I am has sent me to you. God didn't say I was. That would imply that his power had stopped working in times past. God didn't say I will. Then help would always be on the way. It would never be now. God said, I am. He always is everything we need. Time itself has no power to place limits on the one who created it. God isn't bound by the mistakes of your past, nor your fears about the future. He is I Am. Jesus himself echoed this powerful revelation. Jesus answered, I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I Am. By this, Jesus did not just mean that he was ancient, but divine. It was such a shocking statement that the religious leaders accused him of blasphemy and tried to kill him. He is the all-sufficient, All-powerful, all-knowing, one true God. Jesus said, I am the light of the world. He exposes darkness, reveals truth, adds detail and color to life, and gives us discernment. Jesus said, I am the bread of life. He alone satisfies the soul. Jesus said, I am the Good Shepherd. He guides, protects, and corrects his children. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. He is the only way to the Father and eternal life. Everything you need, he is. He doesn't just give healing, he is healing. He doesn't just cause deliverance, he is deliverance. He doesn't just give power, he is sheer power. He is I Am.
