LIVE In-Depth Seminar on Angelic Beings

In this live YouTube sermon, the speaker explores the biblical understanding of angelic beings, beginning with common questions about their existence, purpose, and behavior. He emphasizes staying grounded in Scripture, then systematically presents the classes of angels—archangels, seraphim, cherubim, standard angels, and fallen angels—citing passages such as Jude 1:9, 1 Thessalonians 4:16, Daniel 10, Isaiah 6, Genesis 3, Ezekiel 1‑10, Revelation 12, and 2 Peter 2. The talk details the nature of angels, noting their physical manifestations, ability to appear in dreams, clothing, voices, and even to cook and eat (e.g., 1 Kings 19, Psalm 78). A personal anecdote of a possible angelic encounter in a grocery store illustrates the belief that angels walk among us. The speaker then outlines the various biblical roles of angels—messengers, protectors, guides, servants, prayer partners, and future judges—supporting each with scriptural references (Luke 1, Exodus 23, Hebrews 1, Zechariah 1, Revelation 14, 1 Corinthians 6). The sermon concludes with a prayer for spiritual awareness, a call to generosity, and appeals for subscriptions and donations to the ministry.
Chapters
Do angels walk among us? Is it still possible today to have angelic encounters? What purpose do angels serve? Do angels eat? These questions and more we're going to explore as we dive into the topic of angelic beings. There exists a realm beyond what you can see with your physical eyes, and in that realm, Is a supernatural world teeming with life and activity. And we have to be aware of the supernatural world around us. So as we look to the scripture, I want you to be mindful of the fact that there is more to this world than you can see, that there is a dimension beyond our sight and understanding. Now, not everything about angels is crystal clear. Rather, as we look throughout the Scripture, we're given glimpses concerning angelic beings, their nature, what they do, where they come from. So while we won't get all of the details that we want, we will take what details the Bible does give to us. And it's important that when you're studying supernatural topics, that you not go beyond— in fact, I should say it's important for every topic that you not go beyond what the Bible teaches clearly. And you can make some inference, you can come to some conclusions, you can try to link together some pieces, but don't wade too far out beyond what we know for sure. And in so doing, we find that safety net. And this is especially true of topics concerning the supernatural, because this is frankly how people lose their minds, how they get really weird, they get, into all sorts of heresies and strange beliefs because they don't ground themselves on the Word. So just keep that in mind that as we look at this topic, we're gonna stay grounded on the Word. So there's lots of debate in terms of what the different classes of angels are. So I'm just gonna present what is absolutely clear in the Scripture. First, we have what are called the archangels. And these angels are known as chief angels. They're high-ranking angels. They're engaged in spiritual warfare. Biblical references include Jude 1:9, 1 Thessalonians 4:16, and Daniel 10:13. We'll begin to read those references now. Jude 1:9. But even Michael, one of the mightiest of the angels, did not dare accuse the devil of blasphemy, but simply said, the Lord rebuke you. This took place when Michael was arguing with the devil about Moses' body. By the way, I believe that the devil wanted Moses's body because he wanted to turn it into an object of worship. As we know, this particular people group had an inclination toward idolatry. And so I think that's partly what the battle was about. 1 Thessalonians 4:16, we see another reference to an archangel. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, And with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. So archangels are high-ranking angels. They're stronger beings. In fact, they are engaged in spiritual warfare, as we see in Daniel 10:13. But for 21 days, the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia blocked my way. Then Michael, one of the archangels, came to help me, and I left him there with the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia. So here we see the clashing of powers, light versus darkness. And we see that Michael the Archangel took over this battle with this high-ranking demon. And of course, this other messenger went on their way as they left Michael the Archangel to engage in that spiritual war. So these mighty forces clashing with one another in the heavenly realm, is what's being described here in Daniel 10:13. So archangels, they do engage in spiritual warfare. They're high-ranking angelic beings, and they are, as we can see, stronger than the other angels. Next, we see the seraphim, the seraphim. These are understood to be worshipers. Of course, all angels worship, but these are understood to sing with a voice of power, and this of course has become synonymous, the seraphim synonymous with worship. This is what's seen in Isaiah's vision. The biblical reference we're using here is Isaiah 6:2-4, which I'll reference for you now. Attending him were mighty seraphim, each having 6 wings. With 2 wings, they covered their faces, with 2, they covered their feet, and with 2, they flew. They were calling out to each other, holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven's Armies. The whole earth is filled with his glory. Their voices shook the temple to its foundations, and the entire building was filled with smoke. So here we see in verse 3, they're calling out to one another, holy, holy, holy is the Lord of heaven's armies. This is where we derive that description of the seraphim being worshipers, or at least a part of the worship team in heaven. That's of course loose terminology I'm using, but you get the idea. Notice in verse 4 that their voices are so powerful that when they cried holy, the temple shook to its foundations. So this is of course synonymous with worship, even purification, as you see in Isaiah 6, in that reference that the angel actually takes a piece of coal and cleanses the prophet's mouth with it. cleansing, a purifying nature to the seraphim. So they're known as worshipers. Some could link the concept of purification to them, but again, another type of angel described clearly in scripture. The cherubim, we see set to guard, they were set to guard the Garden of Eden. Some biblical references include Genesis 3:24, Ezekiel 1:5, 1:13-15, and 10:1-2. Let's take a look at that Genesis reference. Genesis 3:24. After sending them out, the Lord God stationed mighty cherubim to the east of the Garden of Eden, and he placed a flaming sword that flashed back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life. Now I wanna show you something in Ezekiel chapter 1. Let's go there now, Ezekiel 1. I'll begin reading at verse number 5. It says, from the center of the cloud came 4 living beings that looked human. So remember Ezekiel's vision now. Many people talk about these living beings. And I think, of course, this is what's being described, the cherubim. And I'll show you why I believe that. Look at verse 13 now. The living beings look like bright coals of fire or brilliant torches. And lightning seemed to flash back and forth among them. And the living beings darted to and fro like flashes of lightning. As I looked at these beings, I saw 4 wheels touching the ground beside them, 1 wheel belonging to each. Now look at how these beings are later identified. Watch this now in Ezekiel 10:1-2. In my vision, I saw what appeared to be a throne of blue lapis lazuli, Above the crystal surface over the heads of the cherubim. Then the Lord spoke to the man in linen clothing and said, go between the whirling wheels beneath the cherubim. So those beings that were over these wheels are described as cherubim. And take a handful of burning coals and scatter them over the city. He did this as I watched. So here I believe we're seeing a description of the cherubim. Now we're gonna cover angels in general all throughout the rest of this teaching. So after that would be what you would call, I'm using the term standard angel, but I by no means mean to imply irreverence toward that group. So far, again, we've seen the archangels, the seraphim, the cherubim, what we will call standard angels or general angels or angels that are regular. And then under these regular angels, we see the fallen angels. Now the fallen angels were the ones who were cast out of heaven with Satan. They gravely sinned with the daughters of men. We're gonna go over that in just a moment. And biblical references include, but are not limited to, Revelation 12:9, Genesis 6:1-6, 2 Peter 2:4, and Galatians 1:8. Let's take a look at Revelation 12:9. This great dragon, the ancient serpent called the devil or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world, was thrown down to the earth with all his angels. So here we see the angels that were thrown down to the earth were considered to be Satan's, under his possession, under his rule, a part of his kingdom. Living by his influence. And so these angelic beings rebel against God along with Satan, and their punishment is to be cast down to earth. Now, a couple of clues here, and this is a bit of a side note, but I think you'll be interested to note that this took place obviously after the creation of the earth, because they were cast down to the earth. So I actually believe this was sometime after the creation of man. And that might be a different lesson for a different time where I talk about the fall of Satan. But notice here that these angels are cast down from heaven. They're banished to the earth. That is the first sin of the angels. So these angels rebel against God, cast out of heaven, cast down to the earth. For their rebellion against God, they are banished to the earthly realm. That's the first sin. The first sin was rebellion against God. And the first punishment was banishment to the earthly realm. Now notice here, there is a second sin that these angels committed. And we don't know whether it was all of the fallen angels who committed this second sin, or only a portion of the fallen angels who committed this second sin. Watch this now in Genesis chapter 6. I'll begin reading at verse number 1. Then the people began to multiply on the earth, and daughters were born to them. The sons of God— I'll pause there just for a moment. That term sons of God in the Old Testament is always a reference to a supernatural being. It's not until the New Testament concept of salvation that we begin to see the term sons of God being used to describe God's children as humans, or the sons of God as humans. So the sons of God here is a reference to supernatural beings. They saw the beautiful women and took any they wanted as their wives. Then the Lord said, my spirit will not put up with humans for such a long time, for they are only mortal flesh. In the future, their normal lifespan will be no more than 120 years. In those days, and for some time after, giant Nephilites, lived on the earth. For whenever the sons of God had intercourse with women, they gave birth to children who became the heroes and famous warriors of ancient times. So a lot of these myths and legends, they have their origins in what we would call the Nephilites or the Nephilim. And these are the giants that were born as a result of the procreation between the sons of God and the daughters of men. So this is a pollution of human DNA. Now, if these were mere humans who were procreating with the daughters of men, it would not explain why we saw the rise of giants or a race of giants or men of renown who had great strength and power. Now watch this, verse 5. The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. So the Lord was sorry he ever made them, and put them on the earth, it broke His heart. Now, those angels who came in unto the daughters of men, that, those were the angels that committed that second sin. Now there is a second punishment for this second sin with the fallen angels. 2 Peter 2:4, for God did not spare even the angels who sinned. He threw them into hell in gloomy pits of darkness, Where they are being held until the day of judgment. Now, many mistakenly make the connection between 2 Peter 2:4 and Revelation 12:9. In other words, some believe that when the angels rebelled against God, that they were banished to the earth and then further punished for that rebellion by being chained in darkness in hell. But actually, again, we have— 2 Peter 2:4. 2 different sins with 2 different sets of punishments. So the first group, they rebel against God, they become the entirety of the fallen angels that are banished to the earth. And out of that group of fallen angels who were banished to the earth, there is either a majority of them or a minority of them. We don't know what percentage of them committed this next sin, but among that group of fallen angels, many of them began to procreate with the daughters of men. And that group, that smaller group than that original group, is now chained, waiting for the day of judgment. So this is why I think that the reference in Ephesians chapter 6, wickedness in high places, can be a reference to fallen angels, as opposed to just demons who are bound to the earth. And we know demons are bound to the earth because Jesus said in Matthew 12, when an unclean spirit comes out of a man, it goes through the desert seeking rest, but finding none. In other words, it's bound to the earthly realm. So some fallen angels likely still remain in the earthly realm because it's likely that some did not participate in this second sin. Fallen angels are quite deceptive. In Galatians 1:8, let the Lord's curse fall on anyone, including us, or even an angel from heaven who preaches a different kind of good news than the one we preach to you. So if one of those angels who fell from heaven comes to you preaching a false gospel, we know that is a fallen angel and is deceptive. So let's take a look now at angels in general and glean some biblical insight as to their nature and purpose and so forth. First of all, we see that angels do have a body that can be manifested in the physical realm. Luke 24:4 says, as they stood there puzzled, 2 men suddenly appeared to them clothed in dazzling robes. Luke 24:23, they said his body was missing, And they had seen angels who told them Jesus is alive. So they were visible in the earthly realm. They have clothes. And so therefore we see that angels have something like unto a physical body. This isn't to say that their body is exactly like ours, but they do have a physical form when they're manifesting their presence in the earthly realm. Angels can appear in dreams. Now this one is fascinating. Let's read the verse and I'll explain further. Matthew 1:20, as he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. Joseph, son of David, the angel said, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. Now, this is fascinating because the scripture doesn't tell us that Joseph had a dream about an angel. That is, he didn't just think of an angel as he slept. Rather, it tells us that the angel appeared to Joseph in his dream. This was an actual messenger of the Lord who came bearing an actual instruction, and he appears in his dream. In other words, angels, I don't know how it works. Again, we are given glimpses into the angelic realm, but angels have the ability to enter the realm of the mind. or the realm of the subconscious as you sleep. They can enter that realm and present themselves there. Not you dreaming about angels, but angels presenting themselves, actually appearing in a dream. This one's interesting and different. Angels cook and eat. 1 Kings 19:5-6, then he laid down and slept under the broom tree. But he was sleep— but as he was sleeping, an angel touched him and told him, get up and eat. He looked around him and there beside his head was some baked bread on hot stones and a jar of water. So he ate and drank and laid down again. So there we see an angel had prepared a meal for him. Now I love my wife's cooking. She's a, she's an amazing cook. My friends compliment her all the time. I know that she's amazing at what she does. She gets very into it. She's, she breaks down the ingredients. She looks up new recipes. She's very passionate. about cooking various different meals. In fact, I told her, if I'm not careful, I'm gonna gain a lot of weight because the meals you cook are so good. But imagine an angel cooking for you. Imagine what kind of bread an angel can, a piece of bread an angel can make. That would be an exquisite meal, I think. Now, Psalm 78:25 says, they ate the food of angels. God gave them all they could hold. So that, that manna from heaven was the food of angels. It's the food that the angels ate. It's a supernatural food. And I'd imagine that that food would sustain you in a supernatural way. So that we see clearly that angels cook and eat. So again, this gives us even a glimpse into what heaven is like. I believe that we will be sharing meals in heaven. Well, think about the marriage supper of the Lamb. Think about the fellowship we will have in heaven. I wonder what flavors and tastes we're going to have in heaven that we don't have here. So we can see that in the supernatural realm, there is eating and drinking and angels cook and eat. So though they have bodies not like ours exactly, there is some similar— there are some similarities between our bodies and theirs. Angels have distinct bodies, clothes, and voices. Daniel 10:5-6, I looked up and saw a man dressed in linen clothing. With a belt of pure gold around his waist. So there we see his clothing. His body looked like a precious gem. His face flashed like lightning, and his eyes flamed like torches. His arms and feet shone like polished bronze, and his voice roared like a vast multitude of people. Now, I wanna share with you in just a moment, an experience that I believe I had with an angelic being. But first, if this message is blessing you, you're gaining insight, and you think other believers would be blessed by hearing this insight into the angelic realm, then make sure you leave a like on this stream, whether you're watching live or on the replay. Here, Hebrews 13:2, don't forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some have— for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it. Think about that. Well, if they don't have bodies or physical manifestations, if that makes you more comfortable, if they don't have physical manifestations that are similar to ours, then how do we explain them walking around among us? How do we explain the fact that many of you have likely entertained or been hospitable to angels without even realizing it? I was sent to the grocery store late one night, and I drove my car down the street. It was like a CVS or Rite Aid, one of those types of stores. It was the only thing that was open. And so I park right in the front of the store. In fact, I was parked right in front of the automatic sliding doors. I get out of my car, and as I'm walking in, I see sitting down to my right, just off to the side of those sliding doors, a homeless man. And he asks me if I have any spare change so that he can get something to eat. Now, personally, I'm a little skeptical when someone on the street asks me for money. Like you, I assume maybe they're gonna spend it on something that they shouldn't. So typically what I'll do is I'll say, I'll buy you some food. I'll buy you some food. and I'll give them that. So I said, hey, well, why don't you come in the store with me? Let's pick out some groceries for you. And he actually agreed. He was very excited about that. He said, yes, please. That would be, that would be great. So we go in, we're going down the aisles. I'm picking out chips and drinks and just putting them in the basket. We check out, I give him his bags. I get what I was getting. I leave and he begins to walk toward the sidewalk. Now, The way that this was arranged is partly why I believe this was an angelic encounter, because the man turned a corner. And when you turn that corner, it's a long stretch of sidewalk. Off to the side, of course, there are apartment complexes, but those apartment complexes have security gates and there's not really somewhere you can slip into. And even if he went in, it would take him at least a second or two. to type in the code for those security gates. So I pull out, I can see the man perfectly within my line of visibility. He turns the corner just as I'm making a right onto the street. And as soon as I make a right onto the street, I look to see him and he's nowhere to be found. He couldn't have walked back to where he came from because I was there and I was, Moving along that path the entire time. He couldn't have sprinted the stretch all the way down to the other turn. It was at least a quarter mile. He couldn't have gone into the apartment complexes. He would have to walk up to that apartment complex and take the time to type in the code. From the time he turned the corner and I turned my car to make a right, he was gone. Now, personally, I believe that was an angelic encounter. I'm not basing my salvation or my whole life on that. I'm not asking you to stake your life on that story. I'm simply sharing what happened to me and what I believe that it was. And it would be perfectly biblically consistent to believe something like that. And I know you probably have many stories like that. In fact, if you do, leave it in the comment section. I know many would be curious to read about those stories. Angels are messengers. Luke 1:11-14. When Zechariah was in the sanctuary, an angel of the Lord appeared to him standing to the right of the incense altar. Zechariah was shaken and overwhelmed with fear when he saw him. But the angel said, don't be afraid, Zechariah. God has heard your prayer. Your wife Elizabeth will give you a son, and you are to name him John. You will have great joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. So here we have an angel delivering A heavenly message. Angels protect. My God sent his angel, angel to shut the lion's mouths so that they would not hurt me, for I have been found innocent in his sight, and I have not wronged you, Your Majesty. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won't even hurt your foot on a stone. You will trample upon lions and cobras. You will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet. Well, how many times have maybe you or a loved one or a friend been in danger? I can't tell you how many times I've seen a friend of mine or a family member in a car accident. And we look at the car, the car is mangled, and they come out with just a few scratches and bruises. And even the medical professionals and the police officers on scene say they should not have walked away from this accident. How many times has the Lord used angelic hosts to dissuade bad actors from around you? Maybe you sense someone has bad intentions. You can feel them looking at you, following you, and then something out of nowhere dissuades them. That could be angelic protection. Angels protect God's people. God has assigned angelic protection to you. Angels warn. Revelation 14:6-7. And I saw another angel flying through the sky, carrying the eternal good news to proclaim to the people who belong to this world, to every nation, tribe, language, and people. Fear God, he shouted, give glory to Him, for the time has come when He will sit as judge Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all the springs of water. Angels guide. Exodus 23:20. See, I am sending an angel before you to protect you on your journey and lead you safely to the place I have prepared for you. Angels serve. Hebrews 1:14. Therefore, angels are only servants, spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation. Let me read that again. Hebrews 1:14, I wanna read that again. Therefore, angels are only servants, spirits sent to care for people who inherit salvation. That's you. So not just to protect, but to serve. You ever hear that phrase, to protect and serve? That's God's angelic army concerning the people of God. They're sent to protect and to serve you. God sends them upon the earth for such purposes. Angels pray. Zechariah 1:12, upon hearing this, the angel of the Lord prayed this prayer, O Lord of heaven's armies, for 70 years now you have been angry with Jerusalem and the towns of Judah. How long until you again show mercy to them? Angels will be judged by us. Now, this is 1 Corinthians 6:3. I'll read it and I'll give a couple explanations for this. Don't you realize that we will judge angels? So you should surely be able to resolve ordinary disputes in this life. Now, I think that that term judge sometimes is used differently. So this could mean that we judge the fallen angels, as in pronounce punishment over them. I don't think that's it. That's what some have suggested. Rather, I think this is in regards to managing the affairs of the angelic realm. You and I, as servants of God, we'll be given responsibilities in the afterlife, if you will, or the next phase of life, which is eternity, time with Christ, being in the heavenly realm, in new glorified bodies. We will be given heavenly responsibilities. And I think some of those heavenly responsibilities include navigating the affairs of the angelic realm. So these are the various different insights we're given concerning angels. Now let's pray that the Lord would open your eyes to the realm of the Spirit. Father, I pray that You would give us insight, that You would cause us to see with eyes of the Spirit in faith. Let us be aware of the realm of the supernatural. Let us be aware of that heavenly world. Amen. Let us sense your presence and let us not take for granted the connection between the earthly realm and the heavenly realm. Inspire your people today and help us to think more supernaturally minded. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Type it real big if you believe it, type a big amen. Now, don't go anywhere. I know that often the temptation is that once the lesson is done to get on to the next video. But I want to invite you to be a part of what God is doing through this ministry. So let me just read a verse to you here, a portion of scripture, I should say, in Proverbs chapter 11. I'm going to read verses 24 and verses 25. Proverbs 11:24-25 say this: Give freely and become more wealthy. Be stingy and lose everything. The generous will prosper. will prosper. That's a promise. Those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. Well, that's just how it works. Sometimes I think we withhold financial resources because of fear. We think that if we give to a ministry that maybe we might lack in another area. But this is a promise from Scripture. You give freely and the Lord adds to that. But if you're stingy, eventually you lose everything. The generous will prosper. Those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. So will you refresh others through the work of this ministry? Will you give freely and help us on our mission? We are on a mission to win the soul of a generation and to help the church understand that there is a realm of the supernatural. I thank God that the church now more than ever is coming back to things like the spiritual gifts, coming back to things like belief in the supernatural. I'm coming back to awareness of things like spiritual warfare, but we still have a lot of work ahead of us. So I'm asking you, if you've been blessed by this ministry, I'm asking you as my brother, as my sister in Christ, if you've been blessed by this ministry, I'm asking you to do your part today.
