Major Signs the Holy Spirit is About to Change Your Life

In this sermon‑style teaching, the speaker asserts that the Holy Spirit signals imminent, major life change through three primary signs. First, believers experience heightened frustration with themselves as the Spirit raises internal standards, exposing deeper sin and prompting repentance. Second, they begin to lose interest in activities, hobbies, relationships, or even previously enjoyed sins, indicating a detachment from the old life and a pull toward a new season of purpose. Third, a growing hunger for God emerges, manifested in increased prayer, deeper Scripture study, more worship, and an intensified desire for the Holy Spirit’s presence. Each sign is illustrated with personal testimony and supported by Scripture (Romans 7:14‑20; 2 Cor 7:10; Philippians 3:7‑8; 2 Cor 5:17; Romans 8:5; Exodus 33:12‑16). The speaker encourages listeners to recognize these signs, surrender, and pursue the forthcoming transformation, while also urging practical actions such as prayer, worship, and supporting the ministry through subscriptions and donations.

I truly believe that the Holy Spirit is about to change your life. You might feel trapped, frustrated, angry at your lack of progress, like you're going through the motions with no movement forward whatsoever. Well, I want you to look out for these signs. Hang in there, because change is coming sooner than you might think. The number one sign, or the first sign, that the Holy Spirit is about to bring major change to your life is— You're frustrated with yourself. Yes, this can actually be a good thing. When we become more aware of the issues that need to change, we often step into greater levels of frustration with ourselves. Often believers equate that frustration with negative progress. They think that because they're becoming more frustrated with themselves, that surely they must be going backwards, but that isn't always the case. In many instances, the more frustrated you become with yourself, that actually means the closer you're getting to the goal. That is because as the light shines brighter, more details are revealed. So as the Holy Spirit begins to press you into a new season, and I truly believe it's a new season, it's a time of a fresh outpouring. There is change coming, but before the Lord can cause you to step into that moment of change, He has to make sure that you're ready for it. And so what begins to happen is the standard in your heart is raised. The standard in your mind is raised. And as that standard is raised, there's a greater level of frustration for not meeting that standard. No, I'm not talking about self-condemnation. I'm not talking about self-hatred. I'm talking about recognizing that there's more. I'm talking about recognizing within yourself that there are major character flaws that need to change. And sometimes we pretend, or we go through the motions, or we say the right things, or we have what seems to be the right attitude, all the while in our hearts, we're holding on to old ways of thinking, old patterns, old habits. But what begins to happen as the Holy Spirit starts to position you for change is you actually start to deal with those deeper things. And I mean, you dive deep. And this is where it can actually be a little bit painful, because now you're confronting some of those deeper, darker things within yourself, but that's the Holy Spirit pressing on you, shining his light, exposing, confronting, and then causing you to be frustrated with that lack of progress. The Holy Spirit isn't holding out on you. You're holding out on him. Let me say that again. The Holy Spirit isn't holding out on you. You're holding out on Him. And by that, I mean that is that this lack of progress, this lack of growth that we're seeing is a result of hanging onto things that the Holy Spirit is telling us to let go of. Here's what the scripture says in Romans 7:14-20. We know that the law is spiritual, but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do, for what I want to do, I do not do, but what I hate, I do. Maybe you can relate to what's being written here. Verse 16, and if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know That good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. We all know we have the Holy Spirit within us. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do, this I keep on doing. Now, if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me. That does it. This is the frustration with self that ultimately helps to move you out of complacency. You're tired of the anger problem. You're tired of the pride issue. You're tired of the bitterness and the unforgiveness. You're tired of dealing with anxiety. You're tired of having that heavy weight always hanging over your head. You're tired of the cynicism and the doubt. You're tired of the inconsistency. You're tired of the laziness. You're fed up with the lack of progress. And now you're coming to the place where you're saying, the things I want to do, it seems like I can't do them. And the things that I don't want to do, it seems like I just can't stop doing them. This is why the scripture says in 2 Corinthians 7:10, for the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There's no regret for that kind of sorrow, but worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death. Now, context considered, we see here that sorrow or frustration can lead to repentance. Sorrow and frustration can lead to change. If you're fed up with your compromise, your inconsistency, your laziness, your pride, all of these things that are inhibiting your spiritual growth, then that is a sign that major change is on the way. I'll never forget that just before the Holy Spirit gave me breakthrough with having battled with anxiety for several years, and it was severe for me, many of you know, the Holy Spirit caused me to just reach the end of the rope, to be just absolutely fed up with it, and tired of being tired of being tired. That's a great place to begin. So don't get down on yourself. Don't be discouraged by that frustration. And don't see it as a lack of progress because that frustration with self is a major sign that the Holy Spirit is pushing you into a season of change. Number 2, the second sign that the Holy Spirit is bringing major change to your life, and I mean like imminently, is that you're losing interest in the things you once enjoyed. The things that once piqued your interest, The things that were once considered good time spent start to not look so good after a while. The scripture says this in Philippians 3:7-8. But whatever were gains to me, I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ. And again, that's Philippians 3:7-8. Now, I wanna be clear that I am not saying that you don't enjoy anything that God blesses you with. Of course, we understand that the Lord designed this earth and that the Lord gives us good things in this lifetime. So I'm not saying that you have to isolate, never talk to anyone again. And I'm not saying, definitely, I'm definitely not saying, that if you enjoy anything at all, that you're somehow unspiritual or immature or lacking in faith. That's not what I'm saying. What I am saying is that the things that once excited you now become dull. The things that once interested you now become uninteresting. The things that pulled on your attention, they lose their magnetism. Now, of course, I'm not saying we shouldn't keep our commitments. I'm not saying that everything that we should keep doing will always be interesting, because the fact of the matter is that sometimes The things that you should be doing are considered uninteresting. And that's where discipline kicks in. Discipline kicks in where emotion fades. But I am also saying that there are times when, as you begin to grow in the Lord, as the Holy Spirit starts to push you out of certain seasons, there's this disconnect that you feel with everything around you, unsettled, like you're not at home, like there's something more. And you begin to push toward what's ahead as you start to lose interest in what's here and now. Now, this could apply to several things. This could apply to sin issues. Of course, you're gonna lose interest in your sin as you draw closer to the Holy Spirit. But this also means that sometimes you don't just lose interest for sin. Sometimes you lose interest in good things that aren't God things. You lose interest in certain hobbies. You lose interest in a certain career path. You lose interest in certain things of this world that are not necessarily sinful unto themselves, but they're not the best use of your time either. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says this, for if a man belongs to Christ, he is a new person. The old life is gone, new life has begun. That means everything about your old life is now gone, and you have a brand new nature. Now, sometimes it takes a while for that new nature to emerge in you, because the very moment you were born again, you received a brand new identity. And it takes the rest of your life to now live in the effects and benefits of that new identity as you renew the mind. Now, as this happens, as you begin to become more confident in your identity in Christ, As you begin to receive more of the Spirit than you do of the flesh, you begin to lose interest in the things of this world. The things of the world become dissatisfying. Old hobbies. Maybe you spent hours and hours and hours in the garage working on something. Maybe you spent hours on a certain sport, hours on a certain type of TV program, hours on a certain type of, I don't know, outdoor hobby. Maybe you're a birdwatcher. I don't know. I don't know if anybody still does that, but— I do. That's just an example. Maybe it's a digital hobby and you have a certain series you're into, or you're into a certain type of programming. Well, I'm not saying that you have to give that up entirely, or that that's sinful unto itself. But what I am saying is those in comparison are going to begin to look dull, lifeless. You're gonna go and do them, you're gonna be like, this isn't as fulfilling as it was before, or I'm not as excited about this as I used to be. This is because the Holy Spirit is causing you to become detached from your surroundings. Maybe the Holy Spirit is calling you to step into a new ministry. Maybe the Holy Spirit is calling you to connect with someone new. Maybe the Holy Spirit is calling you to a new place to live. Maybe the Holy Spirit is redirecting your career path. Maybe the Holy Spirit is giving you a new idea, a new vision, a new dream. And He's pushing you out of that place of complacency. You know that the Holy Spirit, in order to get you to step into what's new, has to shake up what's old. And one of the ways that He does this is He causes us to taste, have a foretaste of that glorious future, so that we now begin to loosen our grip on the present. Maybe there are certain relationships where you once found fulfillment. Now, I wanna say this with a caveat, because I don't want you to go disconnecting from lifelong friends. Because your friendships even will go through seasons. Your relationships will go through seasons. Your marriage will go through seasons where maybe you don't feel as passionate about it as you once did. That's no reason to disconnect there. However, there are times when godly disconnection is in order. Maybe there's a certain group of friends and they think a certain way, they talk a certain way, they do certain things that just don't interest you anymore. And you know, those things aren't good for you. Well, you're going to sense the disconnect from them. You're gonna begin to see, I'm not one of them. I don't really belong here. I don't even think they want me in the group because I'm kind of killing what they would call the vibe. And they're pushing you out. That could be the hand of the Holy Spirit now, causing you to lose interest in the things you once enjoyed. Maybe there are certain goals in mind on a certain career path. You wanna get that promotion. You wanna get that degree. You wanna hit that goal financially. There's nothing wrong with these things in and of themselves. But it could be that the Holy Spirit is now calling your attention to something greater. In my case, there was a season of life where all my friends were going off to college, and I felt left out because I wasn't able to do what they were doing because I was so focused on ministry. And I came to a crossroads where I had to choose, do I continue down this career path that I want in business, possibly politics, or do I give all of that up? Do I give up the ability to make a lot of money and instead go into ministry? Well, the Holy Spirit ultimately won and had me go into ministry. Now, I'm not saying that's gonna be the case for everyone, but that's what the case was for me. The Holy Spirit caused me to lose interest in those things so that I could pursue the next season of life. And this is where we are today. Entertainment starts to lose its value. The possessions that you have, the collections that you have start to lose their value. Everything becomes dull. in the light of your future in God. And that is one of the major signs that the Holy Spirit is bringing major change in this next season. You begin to lose interest in what you once enjoyed. Now, once you lose interest in the former things, that is, you get frustrated with yourself, you lose interest in the things of this world, you lose interest in the things that surround you, you now begin to gain a new desire. Okay, the 3rd sign that the Holy Spirit is bringing major change to your life, and I mean like soon, is you begin to develop a hunger for more in God. Now, this is so key because once you've passed that place of frustration, and listen, you're always gonna be a little bit frustrated with yourself, okay? Because we're all works in progress. Don't worry about perfection. Worry about progress. Once now you begin to move past that frustration, you start to correct those things that the Holy Spirit is having you correct. And then you begin to lose interest in the things that are just distractions. The Holy Spirit starts to draw your attention away from those things. Now what begins to happen is there's this fire and this passion that begins to grow in you for the things of God. And let me tell you something, You don't have to look back on when you were first saved and consider those to have been your best days in God. The Holy Spirit wants to bring you into such passion, into such a fiery demeanor. He wants to bring you into a place of such a love for Jesus that those beginning years won't be able to compare to what's ahead. Stop looking behind you and saying, once I was on fire for God, but now that fire has died. Stop looking into the past and saying, well, it was so pure, it was so exciting, it was so new, it was so deep, it was so rich, and begin to look to the future, because what's ahead of you is greater than what's behind you. The relationship that you have with God, that you're developing with Him, that is deeper than what you carried even in your beginning years. So stop considering your first few years as a Christian as your best years and start believing God to give you such a fire for him that what passion you carry today is going to dwarf the passion you carried when you first got saved. Your better years in God are ahead of you. So the Holy Spirit begins to cause that fire to grow. And by the way, if your fire is dying, you have to give the fire something to consume. You have to throw something on that altar. You have to surrender. You have to yield. You have to obey. Amen. So you have to give up and sacrifice what is not of God in order to gain more of what is in God. Now, your desires for the things of God begin to increase. This is where now the change really starts to accelerate. So you were frustrated with self, you're losing interest in the world, and now a fire is lit. And something in you is hungering for more of God. You're starting to now, You pray a little more than you're used to praying. You're going deeper in the word than you're used to going. You're spending more time in worship. You're spending more time around the people of God. Your mind is now more focused on the things of the Holy Spirit. Your mind is now more focused on the face of Jesus. He's on your thoughts when you wake up. He's on your thoughts when you go to bed. You're communing with him throughout your day. There's something that has been lit. And it's the fire of God beginning to grow in your heart. Romans 8:5 says this, those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on the flesh, on what the flesh desires. But those who live according, in accordance with the Spirit, have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. So now you're gonna notice that shift in your mind, and you're going to become fascinated again. Oh, I pray it happened to you today. You become fascinated again with the things of God. You become fascinated again with the presence of the Holy Spirit. There is that spark of childlike wonder that gets reignited in your soul. And now you're focused on the things of God again, and you're talking about Jesus, and you're reading about Jesus, and you're thinking about Jesus, and you're living to please Jesus. You become satisfied in His presence. And your only concern now is that beautiful presence on your life, where nothing scares you anymore. Take the material things, take the finances, take the career, take the goals, the dreams, the visions, take it all, just give me Jesus. I don't care if I lose everything, as long as I get to keep the one thing, which is the blessed presence The presence of the precious Holy Spirit. You know, that's what the difference was, by the way. That's what the difference was. You wanna know the difference between the new convert years when you just got saved and now? It's because the presence was first. It's because you were fascinated with the presence of God, and that mattered more to you than anything in this world. And you'll notice that as change begins to come, as the Holy Spirit begins to push you into this new season, That fascination is going to be kindled again. That fascination will be fostered in your heart. You become concerned only about his presence. Just like we read in Exodus 33, watch this, you might identify with this. Exodus 33:12-16. One day Moses said to the Lord, you have been telling me, take these people up to the promised land, but you haven't told me whom you will send with me. You have told me, I know you by name, and I look favorably on you. If it is true, you look favorably on me, let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor. And remember that this nation is your very own people. The Lord replied, I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest. Everything will be fine for you. Then Moses said, if you don't personally go with us, Don't make us leave this place. Maybe that's your heart's cry. If you don't go personally with us, don't make us leave this place. How will anyone know that you look favorably on me, on me and on your people, if you don't go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all the other people on the earth. When all you care about is the presence of Jesus in your life, everything begins to change. And I'm talking about accelerated growth, because when you're focused on the presence of Jesus, it's easier for you to let go of the things that hinder your spiritual walk. Just the other day, I was playing this old worship song. Well, I shouldn't say old, it's early 2000s, but I guess today that could be considered a worship classic. And I'm listening to these older worship songs, And I'm just fellowshipping with the Lord, and I just said, Lord, take me back to that place of childlike wonder. Take me back to that place of childlike faith, the simplicity and the beauty of just being obsessed with your presence. Our biggest breakthroughs come from small shifts in the mind, and hunger for God inevitably leads to change. So when you shift your mind from the things of this world, To the things above, that's a major sign that major breakthrough, major change, transformation within you and around you is coming. So let's believe God today for you. Let's believe that today marks the day of transformation. It's a new season. It's a new day. A fresh anointing is coming your way. I truly believe that with all of my heart. Father, in the name of your Son Jesus. I lift that one receiving this now to you, and I pray that by your precious Holy Spirit you would cause them to become refreshed, empowered, renewed. Move them into this new season, I pray, as you transform them. Thank you, Lord, that you are dealing with them about deep flaws and character issues. Thank you, Lord, that you are pulling their attention away from the things of this earth. And thank you, precious Holy Spirit, that even now you're rekindling that fire deep within their soul. In the name of Jesus, we pray. And I want you to say it because you believe it. Say amen. Amen. I want you to type in the comment section, it's a new season.
