Before you read Scripture, pray to the Holy Spirit to prepare your mind, spirit, intellect, and emotions. The speaker frames Bible reading not as academic study but as personal communion with Jesus, a dialogue where you receive and apply God's communication.
Pull the Word of God out. And when you sit down to read now, before you begin to read, say, Holy Spirit, help me to understand. Holy Spirit, prepare my mind, prepare my spirit, prepare my intellect, prepare my emotions, prepare me to receive and accept and apply everything you want to communicate to me. And when you sit down to read the Word, you have to understand that you're not just reading a book. You are sitting down with a person. You are communing with the Lord Jesus. He's speaking to you and you are speaking to him.
