A sermon on how hurrying crowds out the Holy Spirit. When you're rushing, you mistake your own thoughts for God's guidance and skip prayer and Bible study. Slowing down makes you sensitive enough to actually hear the Spirit's instructions.

Your soul is in danger when you live a life of worry and haste, when you live a life that's so fast-paced that it crowds out the sacred and the spiritual. Slow down. The pace of your life has to be such that you're able to yield to the instructions that the Holy Spirit gives to you. Sometimes the Holy Spirit speaks to us and we know it's Him speaking to us, but we're going at such a fast pace that we believe our own lies. I'll get to that later. I'll pray later on. I'll read the Bible tonight. And then tonight comes and you say, I'll read the Bible tomorrow. But if the pace of your life is so quick, so rushed, your mind is so cluttered with so many different things in this world, and of course it's going to be difficult for you to recognize the Holy Spirit when he's speaking to you. And even when you do recognize the voice of the Holy Spirit, you're going to have a lot of trouble responding to the voice of the Holy Spirit because the different things and cares of this world are pulling at your heart.
