Postponing obedience to God is disobedience. When you delay responding to the Holy Spirit's prompting, your spiritual sensitivity dulls and the Spirit's voice grows quieter. Act now: pray, forgive, serve, and make commitments without waiting for a perfect moment.
Chapters
Delay is disobedience. In Luke 9:59-62, Jesus invites people to follow him, but they hesitate. Their reasons sound noble— family, mourning, closure— but Jesus sees right through the excuses. Obedience postponed is obedience withheld. The Holy Spirit often prompts us in subtle ways. Apologize now. Start praying again. Reach out to them today. Begin that devotional. Forgive that person. Share your testimony, sign up to serve, make the call, cancel that compromise, step out and leave. But we rationalize. I will, just not yet. We wait for a perfect moment that never comes. January 1st to start reading scripture, a less busy season to serve, a more convenient time to surrender. This mindset doesn't just push back tasks, it dulls our sensitivity to the Spirit's timing. The more we delay, the quieter his promptings seem. Eventually, we stop noticing them at all. God's voice rarely shouts. It flows. And if we keep pausing, we'll miss the movement. The Spirit leads in real time. To follow him, we must be in his time, not ours. Don't wait. The time is now. Get my book, Holy Spirit: God Within You, at encounterthespirit.com.
