Low self-confidence shows up as avoiding eye contact, over-apologizing, and obsessing over what others think. The speaker argues that rooting your confidence in God instead, specifically in Romans 8:31-32, means opposition can't truly harm you because God's love makes others' rejection irrelevant.

So someone who lacks confidence will avoid eye contact when speaking with others. They will speak negatively to and about themselves. They'll have difficulty making decisions, avoid challenges for fear of failure. They'll over-apologize, over-explain, overcompensate, and they'll consistently worry about what others are thinking of them. Find your confidence by knowing your place with God. What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? If he did not spare even his own Son, but gave him up for us all, won't he also give us everything else? That's Romans 8:31-32. Allow yourself to believe that God loves you and that he plans to do good things in your life. If God is for you, who can be against you? If God accepts you, who cares who rejects you? If God sees you, what does it matter if others overlook you? Christ is in you and you are in Christ. Let that make you confident.
