In this sermon, the speaker asserts that every born‑again believer already possesses the Holy Spirit at the moment of salvation; it is not earned or granted later. He uses a vivid analogy of a $100 million bank account and a lost debit card to illustrate the difference between having the Spirit (the account) and having access to its power (the card). The debit card represents the believer’s surrender to the Holy Spirit. The speaker emphasizes that the gap between Christians who walk in power and those who struggle is not a lack of the Spirit but a lack of surrender, not personal gifts or intelligence. He cites 1 Corinthians 6:17 to underscore the unity between the believer and the Lord, reinforcing that surrender is the essential condition for experiencing the Spirit’s work.

If you're a born-again believer, you already have the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not someone you have to work to earn. He's there at the moment of salvation, and he begins to do a work in your life. But let's say, by way of analogy, that I were to deposit $100 million in a bank account, and I gave you the account. First of all, that would be amazing, and if I could do it, I would do it. But let's say I gave you that bank account, and then I give you a debit card. For that bank account. God forbid you should lose that debit card. You might be a little bit freaked out if you did. But here's the reality: even if you lost the debit card, the account would still be in your name. The money would still be there. All you really lost was your access to what was yours. In the same way, God has deposited something much greater than $100 million. Amen. God has deposited within you his Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 6:17 declares, he that is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him. The picture there being painted for us would be as though you got 2 glasses of water and poured them both into single vessel. At that point, you would not be able to separate the waters again, nor could you tell them apart. And so the Holy Spirit has been deposited in you. What then is that debit card? That debit card is your surrender to the Holy Spirit. The difference between the Christian who's walking in power and the Christian who is struggling isn't that one has the Holy Spirit and one does not. The difference between the struggling Christian and the Christian walking in what God has for them is simply surrender. It's not a matter of how intelligent you are. How gifted you are, how charismatic you are, how personable you are. It's a matter of how surrendered you are to the Holy Spirit.
