If you find yourself distracted when you read God's Word, unable to focus on or understand what you're reading, then this is for you. Remember this: focus is a mental muscle. It's used by way of intention. The problem is that many of us are weakening that muscle through our poor habits, like the constant consumption of entertainment, doom scrolling on social media for hours, allowing ourselves to be lazy and not fully reading things that are sent to us, or not typing complete thoughts when texting. But you can exercise the muscle of focus. You can recover your attention span through the power of biblical meditation. Mine eyes prevent the night watches that I might meditate in thy word. Don't just read the scriptures and then move on to the next thing. Pause to ponder. Hold the truth in your mind. Repeat the verses in your mind. Think about it. Speak it out loud, pray it, and allow your soul to absorb all of the spiritual nutrients through the power of meditation.
