The Holy Spirit convicts believers of sin not to condemn them, but to rescue them from bondage. This conviction is gentle and patient, an act of love that brings wrongdoing to light so people can be freed from darkness.
The Holy Spirit will point out wrongdoing. Yes, the Holy Spirit is gentle and kind and patient, but he's also gonna call you on your sins. You have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you, and you sense that conviction when you do wrong. The Holy Spirit is bringing the issue to light. He's confronting you because he's not just gonna leave you to that sin. He's not just gonna leave you in bondage and in darkness. It's because of his love that he convicts you. It's because of his love that he confronts you when you do wrong.
