Deception creates spiritual bondage by shaping thoughts, feelings, and actions into habitual patterns. Jesus said the truth will set you free, meaning any remaining bondage points to an unknown truth that, once embraced, breaks the cycle.
Spiritual bondage begins in deception. You believe a lie, even if it's just a subtle one, and that deception now begins to affect the way you think. And the way you think affects the way you feel and act. And the way you feel and act ultimately becomes habitual. That habit is what we refer to as the bondage, and that becomes the cycle. Of course, Jesus said the truth will set you free. That means if you're still bound, there's a truth you've not come to know. So the truth liberates.
